Der Schlangenbaum a thriller and my second book in German. I'm not sure my vocabulary is up to it.

Log Horizon volume 2. It's not a bad series, but the lack of an overall direction for the series keeps me from really getting into it.

The Treasure of Elk Mountain another thriller, this one set around the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. I bought it from the gift shop there.

Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King. For all King's reputation for writing Door Stopper books, he does well writing short fiction.

For Audiobooks:

Skyjack, a book about the D.B. Cooper case.

Skin Game by Jim Butcher. Trying to get caught up on the Dresden Files before the next two books drop later this year.

All in all, I've been enjoying this series so far.

Best of luck, I've tried the book a couple of times before and I'm still planning to get back to it at some point...

Right now I'm reading Tad William's The Heart of What Was Lost, a novella set between his two Osten Ard trilogies. It's interesting to see some perspectives not seen in the first three.

Finished Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas last week and have since moved on to Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.

I've been enjoying NLMG quite a lot. I don't usually like books with first person POV, but, imo, this is one of those novels that uses it really well instead of using it as a vehicle for self-insertion.

Alright, finished The Fifith Seasons.

It's really freaking good, and most of my nigglee are little niggles, the least little is the fact that it certainly takes its time, which wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that where the plot is actually going is a bit unclear for a good while, bit meandering, you see. But it weaves together an engaging tale with some of the most imaginative concepts I've seen in a while and a delightfully snarky and hotheaded protagonist.

There was a point where the plot was clearly going to take a turn toward Everything's Fucked-ville, and I was honestly hesitant to keep reading because I didn't want to see these characters suffering, which speaks to how attached I got to them.

Next up, The Indifferent Stars Above.

My first impression of O;9 is that the very first illustration is the exact same gag as the first scene of the anime (lol Gag Boobs) :|, but pako's art is still goat.

Der Schlangenbaum. Still. I might just give up reading it, though. I'm sixty pages in and it's not all that interesting. It's more about the main character being morose than anything.

Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon? Vol. 8 I like the anime and I'd heard they had to cut most of the book. It's a good read, but it seems the anime adapted the best part.

Last Flight of the Scarlet Macaw, a nonfiction book about efforts to block the construction of a dam in Belize that would have destroyed important habitat. Not bad, and I've learned a lot about Belize from it.

Peace Talks, the latest Dresden Files novel. A great book when I remember to read it.

Day of Battle, audiobook, nonficction about the Italian theater of WWII.

Finished Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro awhile back. I liked it! Just wish I hadn't looked at the copyright page first; it spoils part of the book. ^^" Thankfully, it didn't detract from the experience at all.

I'm now working my way through The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Already finished Cinder and am now on Scarlet. It's... okay. Not terrible, but not amazing.

Additionally, I'm slowly making my way through the unabridged version of Jane Austen's Emma. I've already read most of her novels, mostly so I can say that I have. evil grin

The Last Flight of the Scarlet Macaw, still. It's become a harsh indictment of the Belizean national government circa 2000.

Wachter Der Schatten, a historical fantasy novel. Originally in English, but I can't recall the original title. More than fifty pages in and I'm still waiting for the plot.

Toradora Vol. 1. The anime was one of the few shows I can say I've binge-watched. It's interesting to see it in literary form.

Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors, a nonfiction book about The Battle off Samar. I'm borrowing the exact copy from my father; it was a Christmas gift I gave him years ago.

Audiobooks:

Voyage of Mercy, about a US warship that was tasked with carrying food to Ireland in 1847. I've wanted to do more reading about the Irish Famine. I'm going to need to find something more upbeat to listen to next.

[up] (3) I would like to add that this is the most confusing book I've read since Bram Stoker's Dracula.

So far it's about a drunk couple inviting another drunk couple over, but everybody speaks as though they're... well, in a play. But it's so disorienting, and the plot just seems to be the main couple's son is dead and the other couple can't have kids. I am genuinely tired of hearing George and Martha talk.
