This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is), and post the results on TRS Queue and wait your turn if a problem is present. The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread to collect evidence if you need help.
- If a wick check is too much for you, you can leave the issue at Tropes Needing TRS citing the discussion.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

Yeah, keep the disambig. Policy is to leave redlinks to cut pages alone if the page was cut for being a stub (as opposed to being cut for not being publicly viewable or for being porn).

Hey, so a couple of us at the Berserk Button cleanup are realizing that a good solution might be to relax one of the trope's rules a bit as a slight expansion. Are we allowed to do that? Or should the thread be resurrected just long enough to enact such a definition change? Or do we just need a crowner?

Definition issues are a TRS matter so I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to resurrect the thread just to discuss expanding/changing the definition. After the crowner concludes, we can just close the thread and regroup back to the BB cleaning thread.

Berserk Button's thread is back after pushing some non-berserk buttons to bring it back from the Morgue. What Macron said is doable is what's on the table; as I said in the thread, we're not renaming it.

Fair enough. Still think renaming would help, but it's definitely too much work. Perhaps the issue can be revisited after the cleanup starts chipping away at it...

I suppose that's true. Deader Than Disco was renamed to Condemned by History after it had already been culled via its cleanup thread pre-rename, so it's possible that a later thread could put renaming on the table.

I'm wondering if Matter of Life and Death should be brought in. I just did a cursory glance at the page itself and half the examples are just the name of the work, and a quote where the words are said. Only the Literature folder has context and the Webcomics folder is just a bunch of weblinks.

It looks like it was created in 2010, and it only has 88 wicks, which is lower than I would expect for a 12 year-old trope.

That page predates No New Stock Phrases, but since we don't have a Grandfather Clause for meaningless stock phrases (hence why Stock Phrases Are Not Tropes exists as a redirect to No New Stock Phrases), it can be brought to TRS if it's meaningless. We'd probably need a wick check since it's in the thriving range, as opposed to other stock phrases like In Theory and Go Figure weren't thriving (despite the latter sounding like it would have had the potential to be abused as a Pothole Magnet in the vein of So Yeah).

I've got the spirit but lose the feeling
Put my name on the queue again. It just really bothers me that some subpages within Standard Snippet were put in the Music/ namespace and are still treated as tropes, or at the very least merely list instances they were in works. I heard there was at least one ATT about this, but nothing ever came of that.
