Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.
Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.
For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches
Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

Since the work does not seem to even exist, it is required we cut it.
Ye who would Tope Meaninglessness. Ye who ignore All We Have. I say to you You Shall Not Pass!!So just someone's inane ramblings? Off to the chopping block it goes!

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Robots Are Just Better was launched a while ago. I have two concerns: (1) doesn't the wiki not want more X Are Just Better tropes? and (2) this seems to be a stub.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyOne last try to get people to comment. I'm probably going to drop this thread, the apathy here is just way too frustrating. Kudos to Water Blap, for commenting on all of them, though.
- Bust Chart: Discussion sort of stalled. I think it can be a trope when it's thrown in a manga as an extra feature or something (like design sketches or what have you) but I'm not married to it.
- Cast from Stamina: I asked for it to be cut and sent back to TLP, but no word from mods one way or the other.
- Cast from Calories: Like cast from stamina, this is still just Cast From HP.
- Literal Self Made Man: Ditto.
- Flirtatious Smack on the Ass: 3 people said send it back, one opposed. Personally, I think it's too broad. The difference between an old married couple's "They've still got it" ass slap is nothing like a lecher slapping a secretary's ass out the door. Calling it the same trope is just misleading.
- Actually Real Magic: Launched without addressing the name issue. Two people said send it back, no one opposed.
- Deus Ex Savant: The Same but more specific. Septimus said the snowclone's a problem, Lakingsif says the trope is a problem, I say cut it.
- Casual Sports Jersey: Not A Trope. Or rather, waaaaaaaaaay too broad. I'd like to send it back and have it divided into actual tropes. Being "casual" isn't the same as being such a huge fanatic that your identity is tied into your favorite team, or being so in the past you're wearing a sports version of Still Wearing the Old Colors trying to relive past glory.
- Misplaced Bubbles: No point to it. Cut.
- Mystery Arc: Calling that half-assed is a compliment. This is like, 1/16th assed. Cut it.
- Most Definitely Not Accompanying Us: If we don't have a better version of this trope, Index and keep. It's definitely a trope.
- Magical Guide: Too vague to really be a trope. It's "guide that happens to be magical," and a lot of examples are "guide... and since it's a magical setting, of course they're magical."
- Act Of True Love Stalemate: Atrocious name, and even the TLP basically said it's The Same, but More Specific of More Hero Than Thou (specifically, MHTT but, motivated by personal affection which.... Isn't a horribly huge distinction, in my opinion). Cut.
- Poverty Porn: Pretty much unanimously decided it's an awful name, plus a bunch of awful examples. Send it back.
- The Princess And The Pirate: Launched in 2015 with no YKTTW. It's basically Uptown Girl or All Girls Want Bad Boys (not even but more specific since it explicitly includes non-pirates so long as one person is high-class, the other not), poorly formatted, the examples are poorly written, and it has 5 wicks. Also, I'm 99% certain the entire page was made to ship a Once Upon a Time pairing. 733 inbounds, but that's probably because it shares a title with an actual work page. I say just cut it, or if the wicks are too high make it a redirect to the work page.
- Film Of The Ride: Two people said get rid of it. One cited M Issing Supertrope Syndrome. Personally I'm fine with it, but I'd like more discussion.
- Where They Were: Stub. Not sure what it's going for. Older, so I say just cut.
- Gentle Touch vs. Firm Hand: Looks okay to me. I do think the description can be cut down heavily... some conciseness will lead to clarity, but it works well enough.
- Creator's Pest: Not ideal, and I probably wouldn't have launched yet, but not bad enough to actually send back, in my opinion.
- Incident Of Way Back When: Noodle Incident But More Specific. Bordering on a Stock Phrase, really.
- Mystical Item TM: Needs a new name (current is worthless) and a tightening up on description, but the underlying concept works. Send back to TLP.
- Robots Are Just Better: Not really a trope. If a work has robots, they are better or not. And even many of the examples don't actually apply (Like, say, Terminator... keep in mind that the humans invariably, you know, win that).
- Death Rides A Skateboard: About as clearcut The Same But More Specific to Don't Fear the Reaper as you can get. It's just "Don't Fear the Reaper specifically because he's a cool guy."

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I believe Mystery Arc can be saved in the Trope Repair Shop. While there are no on page examples, the off page examples are substantial enough.
It's funny, I was looking for a trope like Creator's Pest a little while ago. I think it's okay, it just needs some Wiki Magic since it's a little sparse right now.
Oissu!Yeah, too much stuff is starting to fall between the cracks. I'd like to start a separate thread for old stubs, so they don't clutter up the discussion of recent launches, which is slightly more important.
Also, we need to find a way to politely persuade the mods to be more responsive to "send it back" decisions. The last time we made a big batch decision, all the "cut it" decisions were honored, but all the "send it back" ones are...on still on Larkmarn's list. Which is why I'm feeling a bit frustrated.
(But I promise, I will try to offer opinions on the list soon. Once my patience returns.)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Sorry, due to personal time constraints I haven't been following this thread lately. And other don't, either. Better to request a sendback via holler.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman- Everybody Loves Zeus was recently launched. I'm bringing it up because there's a weird trend I'm noticing?
- Everybody Hates Hades is the snowclone, right. Okay.
- Everybody Hates Ares is also around.
- Everybody Loves Aphrodite is now in YKTTW?
- Given Tropes Are Flexible, couldn't some of these be lumped into "a good or nice deity is adapted into being evil in media" and "a bad or mean deity is adapted into being good in media" and then the regular "a deity is adapted into being a pretty accurate portrayal in media" or something?
- If these interpretations are on the mark, then wouldn't the Ares one be People Sit On Chairs and wouldn't the Zeus one be a played with version of the Hades trope?
- Or should some of these just be renamed so we're not immediately thinking of Classical mythology when we read these?
I'm not sure either are needed, with the existence of Adaptational Villainy and Adaptational Heroism (which both note, respectively, in the description).

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI missed this one, but it's essentially Everybody Hates Aphrodite (and the draft admits as much): Gods Of Adulterers And Harlots (link).
Both of these Aphrodite tropes, as well as the Zeus trope, were started by the same person (Informal Fallacies), by the way.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyI'm starting to think we need some system to prevent obvious mass snowclones and duplicate tropes from being posted on the TLP at all. There's only so much that can be done to hold back the tide without one, I know, I've TRIED.

Ye who would Tope Meaninglessness. Ye who ignore All We Have. I say to you You Shall Not Pass!!Is it possible to have all TLP be autolocked/autonuked pending mod approval a la TRS? Because that's all I can think of. Thoughts/other ideas?
edited 17th Feb '17 11:29:34 AM by Theatre_Maven_3695
... I would love that idea. Like the "launch" button doesn't launch it, but rather sends it to mods for final approval? Don't know if it would overwork the mods.
Related note, Eye Scar got launched. Straight up appearance trope. Actual trope info exists as Rugged Scar, Dueling Scar, or Good Scars, Evil Scars.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. Why weren't these discarded before?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMaybe instead of the mods having to do that as well, maybe a group like the P5 to approve launches. Same reqs of the troper candidates, except the handiness of brain bleach. That way it's a short term PITA rather then a long term one for the mods and admins.
Or we can keep playing whack a clone.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettI'd say, for the short term, we should have a policy to require the use of the Trope finder prior to writing a TLP proposal, and including a link in the headder of the draft. Currently existing proposals will need to do this too, as well as any one wanting to claim an abandoned proposal.

Ye who would Tope Meaninglessness. Ye who ignore All We Have. I say to you You Shall Not Pass!!Are there holler buttons on TLP forms? That might be a simpler item to propose on the wishlist.
(Yawn) Sees later.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettSpeaking of how anything can be launched given enough time... Diaper Shock.
Awful, rambling description; poor examples; terrible name; and I'm 99 percent sure it was made for fetishistic reasons. Guy also launched Improvised Diaper which is better, but not good.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Diaper Shock: Nuke that. Ick.
Improvised Diaper: Actually might work as a comedy trope, but needs work. Send it back. Also, I'm concerned about the name having 'let's stick everything that might fit as a ZCE' issues.

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry Pratchett.....dear god, Diaper Shock has half a novel's worth of description, and only 3 works? I'm rather suspecting you are right and that was made while doing some, *Ahem* 'one-handed typing' so to speak. Definitely smite it with the fury of a thousand suns, and maybe nuke the creater while we're at it for violating our ban on Fetish Fuel
Edit: went ahead and threw that shit(heh) on the cut list. No thanks!

Gods Of Adulterers And Harlots did get launched. I still think we don't need a "deity of x is portrayed as evil" or "deity of y is portrayed as good." There are hundreds of such deities and we could probably lump these tropes when they aren't outright Adaptational Villainy or Adaptational Heroism.
(Also, despite the fact that it's already on the cutlist, I agree that Diaper Shock should be brutally murdered by the cut masters.)

Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they pretty
Unforgettable doesn't have any tropes, I have sent the stub notifer to the page creator
(the page may need to made into a disambig page since there is a 1996 film of the same name)
