This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Bad Mood as an Excuse urgently needs a better quote
New theme music also a boxThe terminology obfuscates most of them, but I think the third may have enough plain English that the rest can be figured out by context.
SoundCloudI don't know if it's come up before, but Gone Horribly Right and Gone Horribly Right.Anime And Manga have the same quote, albeit formatted slightly different.
Maybe replace the one on the main page?
Looking at the quotes page, there's this quote from the web original folder:
"And after they escaped and swarmed northward, it turned out they were a-OK with deserts, too. They'll be in Montana by 2010."
If you use it, I'd suggest knocking off the very last sentence because entries should be timeless, and the last sentence makes the quote a bit dated. That said, the entire second paragraph could probably be left off completely as the trope is demonstrated in the first paragraph.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. You're right. The first paragraph would be enough, I think.
Edit: Oh right, No Real Life. Derp.

(Annoyed grunt)Only problem with that is that it describes a Real Life example and that trope forbids real life examples.
Here are three quotes I found that could potentially work:
Calvin: Oh no!
Calvin Clone: Are you kidding? It burned out after the fifth one of us!
I like the Calvin and Hobbes one
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?for Star, since it’s simple. To me, the clone machine burning out in the Calvin and Hobbes quotes muddies the waters a bit.
Yeah, I love C+H, but the machine burning out gives the impression that things did not go right. The Star one's succinct and funny.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. The problem there is that we'd be back to square one, as Star's quote is the one in use on the Western Animation subpage.
SoundCloudYeah, that's complainy; I support pulling it.
D'Oh. It'll need removing from the Quotes page because it's currently entered under the Web Comic folder, making it a stealth violation.
I agree the C+H example comes across as something going wrong. The second one is fine, if everyone knows the Hulk's name is Banner. The third one is zero context — okay, a plan is working, where's the problem? Gone Horribly Right is the "why" of a working plan. It's the "why" that makes it this trope.
Of those three suggestions, the second one seems like the best option.
Alternatively, there's the quote in the Literature folder for the Illustrated Star Wars. It's long, but I think it can be cut down to just this bit:
I agree; that's complaining.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The Star Vs. quote is already on GoneHorriblyRight.Western Animation and can safely be removed from there.
Before I cut the Vampire Fiction quote. Does anyone have a replacement.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The quote on the top of The EGO Ts appears again near the bottom. I've considered replacing the one at the top with something about why celebrities want an EGOT so badly; does anyone have any suggestions?
Vote on moving Star Vs. quote to main and removing it from WA subpage. Subpage quotes have less priority.

to the Star Wars quote
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse? For Vampire Fiction, would this work as a replacement?
I like it.
Does the quote on The Cartel actually describe the trope?
—signature not found—Re: EGOT: a quote appearing in the example section of the same trope is not a reason to remove it as a page quote. Usually you'd either cut the quote from the example or refer the reader to the page quote if it's really necessary.
I would like to suggest a quote change for Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse, from this:
To this:
Reasoning that BoJack is a washed-up actor who is toxic only to those associated with him, and though he tries to clean up his act he ultimately fails tragically. Bahato is an immortal who was Maddened Into Misanthropy because his family was killed by someone who thought was his friend. He is taking out his grief not on the one who killed his family, but on the entire world, and even when he's told outright that people have changed from back then he refuses to listen.

I think both quotes work. Latter is fine if we wanna abide by the "villains" part of the trope.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. We very much do not "refer the reader to the page quote". If the page quote changes later, the example would need to be changed — assuming anyone thinks to check, which often doesn't happen, resulting in examples referring to "the page quote" that isn't the relevant quote at all.
Examples must be written to stand alone without relying on the page quote, the page image, other examples on the page, links to the work, or anything outside the example text.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.
