Fleshing out this one new character for the purposes of him appearing more often in the future.
Sergeant Jeffrey Sanchez
Age: Early 30s
Gender: Cisgender Male
Appearance: Tall, muscular Afro-Latin American detective, short beard and mustache, bald. He typically wears business casual suits and suspenders and makes sure that his badge is always prominently visible while on duty. All in all, heavily resembles Terry Jeffords from Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Ethnicity: African American of Afro-Latin American descent
Organizational Affiliation: Castelia City Police Department (CCPD), Petersen Family
Region of Origin: Unova
Known as Jeff to friends and family, Sergeant Sanchez heads a cadre of detectives at the CCPD and works closely with Officer Jenny. Originally a beat cop, he was eventually assigned to act as the police escort to the family of the then recently murdered Kenneth Petersen; his nephew Thomas had previously alerted the police to an unscrupulous spinarak silk harvesting operation involving Best Berry. He eventually became very fond of the family and came to fall deeply in love with Kenneth's daughter and Thomas' cousin, Sara. They eventually got married and had a daughter, Miley. They moved back in with Sara's mother April some time in September 2018.
He and Sara have compared their relationship to a happier version of their favorite film, The Bodyguard starring Whitney Houston. They both enjoy the movie's Signature Song.
Jeff's Pokémon
Species: Furfrou (normal appearance)
Gender: Male
Ability: Fur coat
Norville is Jeff's primary partner; a police dog in the service of the CCPD, he had grown up and was trained alongside houndoom and growlithes in the police's K9 units. People often see him as a cowardly fop of a lapdog, and as a civilian he usually does nothing to dissuade this notion. In truth, he is both generally fearless and somewhat cocky; he knows full well that his ancestors protected monarchs and nobles and he takes his role as a member of the K9 division very seriously. He sees himself as one of Castelia City's greatest detectives, and given half the chance he can back it up.
Norville's one weakness is food and acts more like a lapdog—especially around his family—when Pokepuffs are mentioned. He figured out quite early that Tommy is Arachna-Guy, but has kept it a secret from everyone including Tommy because he respects fellow crime-fighters.
He sometimes ends up being styled whenever Jeff or his team need to infiltrate anywhere.
—
Charlene (Starter)
Species: Machoke
Gender: Female
Ability: No guard
Charlene is Jeff's first Pokémon and his constant gym partner from before he took up a job with the CCPD. She became inducted into the police and typically works as Jeff's heavy hitter in battles against criminal elements. What she lacks in finesse she makes up for in raw power, though she has trained extensively to make give her blows more precision.
Although kind and infallibly polite, she does hold strong opinions—especially surrounding policework—and occasionally clashes with Norville.
—
Species: Hitmonlee
Gender: Male
Ability: Limber
Chen is a more recent addition to Jeff's roster. Given to him by his old gym buddies, Chen is known for his calmer demeanor compared to the other two. He was brought onto Jeff's police team and is brought on for more sensitive cases and raids due to his ability to deliver powerful blows without causing undo damage. A very nimble hitmonlee, he is capable of performing human dances, which he often does for fun. He often acts as the Petersens' practice dance partner and helps Charlene develop a better sense of control while training.
—
Species: Ditto
Gender: None, Female Personality
Ability: Imposter
Bianca is the newest member of Jeff's police team and usually only spends time with the others for training purposes, where she typically imitates the appearance of commonly encountered Pokémon. Technically, she is also formally Miley's starter and honestly prefers to play with a little girl despite being a rather competent fighter in her own right.
While Norville and Bianca typically go home with Jeff to live with the Petersens, the other two rarely do so, often staying behind to train at HQ and preferring to rest in their pokeballs because of the size constraints of the Petersen apartment.

A more detailed profile of a few more characters
Stephanie Hawthorn
Age: 20
Gender: Cisgender Female
Appearance: A young, athletic woman of with tan skin and afro-textured blond hair. She wears a safari outfit from time to time to evoke the appearance of an Adventurer Archaeologist.
Ethnicity: [Mixed-race American, of Black and White (French) descent]
Organizational Affiliation: Paleontology doctorate student
Region: Angela and Unova
Stephanie is Professor Hawthorn's only daughter, born to his late wife more than two decades prior. Despite being shaken by the incident that turned her father into a weremon and the tragic death of her mother, she has taken on a chipper attitude toward life and has strived to follow their footsteps and become a scientist. She enjoys rock climbing, board games, and traveling and is currently taking up her studies in paleontology. Much like her father, she also has a passing interest in more recent history and archeology. Although usually very respectful, she has a sharp tongue and is unafraid to call anyone (including—nay, especially—her family) out of their BS when she sees the need for it.
Conroy (De Facto starter)
Species: Charizard
Gender: Male
Ability: Blaze
As a Weremon, Professor Conroy Hawthorn periodically turns into a Charizard in a full moon. Stephanie realized this early on and has worked hard to help her father cope with his condition, which has began to resemble pokémon training in its own way.
—
Thatch (Official starter)
Species: Rampardos
Gender: Male
Ability: Mold Breaker
Thatch is one of the few fossil-derived prehistoric pokémon, given to her by the Devon Company and its heads as a reward for her father's years of loyal service as a lab assistant and later paleontology adviser. Thatch is unusually intelligent for a cranidos but also as a result had a much more fragile skull. It wasn't until his skull managed to harden that he started headbutting, and today he acts as Stephanie's lab assistant, helping break fossils out of softer rock.
—
Species: Relicanth
Gender: Female
Ability: Swift Swim
Lara was captured during one of Stephanie's field trips (specifically, one that explored an old sunken ruin as part of a marine ecology class). Lara styles herself as an explorer and prefers seeking out new places. She enjoys Stephanie's company and willfully goes ahead as a scout for when she and her teammates explore cave systems. At home, she spends time in the aquarium where Robbie and Cammy live.
—
Dame Millicent de Aubépine
Species: Chandelure
Gender: Female
Ability: Flash Fire
Stephanie's ancestor and Sir Guiscard's late wife, Millicent was the rebellious daughter of a minor Kalosian lord whose lands were affected by nightmarish horrors. She was one of several women who fought as fledgling knights, rallied under a blacksmith who helped save their lands, and would later join up other armies under the warrior's banner. She eventually came back to the mortal coil and, together with her husband, came to live with their descendants.
Jonathan Halliburton
Age: 25
Gender: Cisgender Male
Appearance: A ginger young man of moderate height and build with soft non-threatening features,
Ethnicity: [White-passing Metis French Canadian, of Wyandot ("Huron") descent]
Organizational Affiliation: Geographic Society—Kalos
Region: Northern Unova, later Kalos
In another timeline, Jonathan would serve as the confidante and lackey of Dave Albright as a rotom. In this one, he's a human, an investigative journalist who frequently gained notoriety for attracting danger by asking the wrong questions. Hailing from the far north of Unova, he moved to Kalos in his youth and has lived there ever since. He speaks Kalosian with a thick accent peppered with archaicisms, while his [English] sounds standard to anyone from Unova's general area. He retains his Lillifuture counterpart's love of Late 80s and 2010s music (Despacito has been stuck in his head forever) and eagerness to play the role of an action hero.
Eastman
Species: Fearow
Gender: Male
Ability: Keen Eye
A standard issue for senior writers in the Geographic Society, tamed Fearows like Eastman wear PokeCams to take aerial shots. Eastman trained under Jon and is seen as his primary creative partner. When Jon is on assignment, Eastman usually follows in the air, ready to come to his aid. He has sired a few chicks with his mate over the years, one of them now training under Jon.
—
Kodak
Species: Spearow
Gender: Female
Ability: Sniper
Kodak is one of Eastman's older daughters and is currently being trained to become part of the next generation of trained camera operating fearows. She holds a strong resolve and usually prefers thinking out of the box, which often puts her at odds with her father.
—
Walter (Starter)
Species: Porygon2
Gender: None, Male Personality
Ability: Trace
First appearing in his home computer when it was presumably infected by a virus, Walter was captured by Jon and eventually became one of his most useful assets. He usually works as a de-encrypter and white hat hacker for his trainer and trawls the web for leads. In addition, he automates things, something Jon finds extremely convenient.
—
Species: Gumshoos
Gender: Male
Ability: Stakeout
Another one of Jon's closest allies, Mack was taken in as a rescue as a yungoos by the Kalosian Gendarme and was later given to Jon by then-Captain Jean. He works with his trainer on a ground level, watching out for patterns and looking out for anything that might be suspicious. After watching too many human engineering programs, he has cultivated an inventive side and picks up random found objects that he believes humans can use to put together interesting things.

Alright, so, I've brought up the Orre Arc Game I'm trying to lay out in the chat, and even made a few music tracks for it already. I still want to work toward making this game a reality, definitely.
However, I have a teensy problem, in that I am one (1) person. One who is a musician, a writer, a visionary... and that's about it. I've got limited artistic ability, barely any programming knowledge (and what I do have is from fucking around with Lua in Roblox back in 5th-8th grade), and worst of all, barely any budget, so I can't exactly outsource through Tumblr or anything in good faith.
As such, would anyone be willing to help with the parts of this that I can't do myself? At the very least, I can sorta try storyboard doodles, but anything higher quality than that is beyond my abilities.
Things I'll definitely need someone else's prowess for:
- Character art (Pokemon art optional, because as much as I'd love a full pokedex of unique art, I definitely don't wanna ask anyone to have to draw 800+ unique images)
- Maps
- Y'know, the actual coding
- Playtesting and script beta-readers
- Probably other things???
Also, like. Any suggestions, recommendations, advice, etc that anyone has would be greatly appreciated

Hey hey, everyone! I'm just wondering...
When would be the right time to determine my character's attribute?
♪Show me the wisdom of the world... Tell me the secrets of the heart... and the sweet~ mysteries~ of love~...I can, in fact, code with some degree of competence!
And would be willing to devote some of that knowledge towards this project!
And have beta-tested things before!
All are significantly abnormal in a normal world... All are significantly normal in an abnormal world.i can offer to do character art, though given my schedule and time management ability i dont know how timely i'd be about it!
off the shitsI mentioned it before but playtesting is definitely something I can help with once there's something to test!
I don't have access to any programs at the moment (unless I can pull out a game maker I bought from Humble a year or two ago) but I did play with making maps on RPG maker before the RP, I MIGHT be able to help with that?
Thanks, it's nice to hear you all are willing to pitch in.
I'll probably, like... make a doc giving what my pipe-dream concept is for the aesthetic is, along with what's actually realistic for such a small team to create. And, like, probably start out with some sort of demo? Like, the intro up to the end of the first in-game encounter with Cipher, probably.

i think i’m in love (probably just hungry)I'd be willing to help, although I'm not exactly sure what I could provide. I suppose I could attempt to help with developing the script? I haven't tried being a beta reader before, but I think I might be able to do that?
Anyways, while I'm here, I might as well inform you guys that my laptop is currently not working, so I won't be able to access the chats until it (we think it might be the battery) has been fixed.

i think i’m in love (probably just hungry)Update on my laptop situation: So, after a few days of being unable to turn this thing on, I was suddenly able to turn the laptop on just as we were making preparations to send it in to service the next day. Freaky timing, huh?
Not sure if it was a delayed reaction to our attempts to get the battery working, or something else, but I guess we'll wait and see for a bit if the laptop is back to normal now, or if it'll suddenly stop working again.

"life is just a series of increasingly canon-eluding ao3 tags" ~ everydunsparce "Keep your hellfruit away from me, tempter" ~ also EveryName: Isaac Losken, The Last Laugh
Age: 48
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Brief description of their appearance: Isaac dresses like a dad, the good ol' bad ol' socks with shoes that should not include socks, and usually khakis, whenever he's not in disguise. He's a clown otherwise. At a lanky 5' 11", he doesn't quite bring his son to mind when he is seen. In guise as The Last Laugh, he brings a shiny red nose, a colorful afro, and those puffy, loose clown jumpsuits. He has a few. They vary.
Any ties to an organization: Isaac has recently decided to become a supervillain, but his idea of supervillain just involves rather mundane pranks as opposed to any real destruction.
Region of origin: Sinnoh, Solaceon Town.
Backstory: While he has been a huge mischeivous force his whole life, Isaac is having a bizarre midlife-empty-nest-what-have-you. He's quite a remarkable psychic when it comes to things that couldn't actually hurt people. His current goals are making a name for himself and causing as much of a mild disturbance as he can, as extravagantly as he can.
Pokemon:
Marc the Male Mr. Mime
Ability: Soundproof
Marc does not speak, monese or otherwise. Instead, he will mime out what he wants to say. In emergencies only will he use telepathy to communicate with others. He is a mischeivous creature just like Isaac. He also appears in Isaac's circus act.
Jerry, Terry, and Barry, the Male Drifloon.
Abilities: Aftermath, Aftermath, Aftermath
The triplets function as a unit. Jerry has been dyed red, Terry blue, and Barry yellow. They speak in unison, rather unsettlingly. They appear to be wholly unconcerned with death, as they are already ghost-types. Thus, they will explode if required to complete the mission, or upon fainting. They prefer not to, though. Messes up their hair.
(Might change a few things.)
So I got met with some concerns over Team Asimov and my fascination with space, I will admit that this is a bit surprising as it's been almost 2 years since their inception but I understand the concerns and do want to clear things up for the better.
So to cover the biggest one first, concerns over worldbuilding and change. Team Asimov will not be changing the world massively, not for years for certain due to a massive complication of factors. Resources, Funds, Bureaucracy, the technology isn't cheap, isn't easily made, and has to go through levels of paperwork to get approved for use and assured that it is safe. This covers the "World" aspect of the details, this ensures that Asimov won't be releasing any major world changing technology or suddenly making space travel perfectly commercial, even the yachts they've been building aren't on the market yet as the technology used to make them is still not cheap enough for proper purchase by many rich individuals. The RP is still primarily about Pokemon and I intended Asimov to be more background noise, a technological team with a primary focus that wishes to help the J-Team as a ally instead of one of the many examples of causing trouble.
Second is distance, the farthest any manned mission will ever go is Mars, and they should be ready for a crew rotation by now. The Asimov Engine can burn for a 1G rate of acceleration sure which makes getting to Mars a matter of 3 days, that's been there from the start, but I can promise you it can go no further, the equation to make the fuel last that long and the return trip was a miracle for the characters to pull off with help from their pokemon, but the next step to go further is years out. Beyond my time in WAAPT for certain, I can promise you the furthest that Asimov will ever go manned, is Mars. Unmanned missions are helmed by Pory run probes who can afford to take longer trips due to advanced wireless communications, and the furthest they've got is the asteroid belt.
If we wish to go further the options are Ziltoid, who views that as suicide, and the Legendaries, which means asking for favors. As for Mars and the rest of the Solar System, I don't think we'll need to worry about regional mons and alien mons, the only aliens we need to worry about are already canon and are more often than not just visitors to our solar system. The last Mars mission had fossils of sorts to imply that Mars may have once held life or something approaching what we currently consider life before something went wrong. But I'm not the one to decide how much life the other planets and moons the system hold, I've claimed Mars and that is as far as I go. Anything else will be decided in Media Arcs made by other people.
I hope I've cleared everything up, no major world changes, anything big will be stuff that's already happening, space hotels are attempting to be made now, and Mars is the furthest we can go. Anything major will still be decades if not centuries in universe before they can pull that off, no big changes, anything further or even interstellar travel is out of the question and at least a century before considered feasible.
If I missed anything, tell me please.
EDIT: Concerns about speed to Mars, easy to fix really. The Odysseus Rocket that made the faithful journey was a heavily overbuilt and customized job to make that trip possible and contain the fuel needed to burn for 1 G consistently, due to a lack of funds, resources, and manpower it is the only rocket of its kind and is currently sitting back at the Island due to irreparable damage, newer designs are not as overbuilt and take a week and a half to get there due to lower powered engines needed to sustain the burn. In short, only one of it's kind that was Awesome, but Impractical.
Edited by EchoingSilence on Mar 4th 2019 at 10:25:10 AM
I personally don't have any gripes with the space thing at Large except for if it gets focused on too much, so I'll leave that to others.
Though... if I can go on a tangent from that for the Porygon-led missions you brought up... this is kinda weird to being up but you seem to treat Porygon in a way that a lot of the RP doesn't and it's kinda refreshing in some ways, but it sometimes feels like you're treat them more like A.I.s or robots than as Pokémon in their own right. Like, I guess it might just be how you describe them when you talk about them broadly rather than write specific Porygon characters for the most part, but idk. Don't have anything to say on space stuff myself, but maybe be careful on that end?
