This may be somewhat less lighthearted than some of the other RP's I've joined (Which, really, I've only joined one on the TV Tropes forum), but here goes...

The RP (Does not exist yet- will create thread & link after enough tropers join)

Discussion (Again, does not exist yet. See above)

The premise starts out pretty simple- You Wake Up in a Room without any memory of how you got there. The only thing in the room is an electronic board, which lists a variety of names. As it turns out, the board is a schedule for a Blood Sport, and your name is on it. There are only two exits to the room- one leading to the supposed arena, and another leading to the unknown depths of wherever this facility is. Chances are the latter is your chance of discovering HOW you got here, and how you may return to wherever you come from... the problem is, it is under very heavy guard, and even a massive combination of effort could not remove the watchmen, through lethal force or otherwise. But that only makes it all the more important, right?

Fortunately, there is a way. Whenever a match is under progress, even the guards cannot resist the entertainment, and leave to join the ranks of the audience. While whoever is up top tries to drag out the battle without boring the distracted watchmen to the point of suspiscion, the unoccupied gladiators may explore the inner workings of this mysterious, technologically advanced facility.

However, they arguably have it even harder than those making the diversion. The security in the deep santcum is incredibly tight, and not even these assumably registered fighters are spared by their duty to eliminate all intruders. But what could possibly be so important as to take such drastic measures to keep you out of the loop regarding this mysterious operation...?

RULES

1. No godmodding, no omnipotence... really, this is the kind of stuff that ANY somewhat serious RP needs to follow, no surprise here. Being more serious than RPs I've made on other forums, no Breaking the Fourth Wall, either.

2. I feel like ripping a page from the rulebook of one of Renagade's RPs. You get three strikes, one for every instance of breaking a rule. Three strikes and you get struck by a meteor that I pulled into Earth's orbit. Oh, you get kicked out, too.

3. You may only use one character in this RP, EVER. This is because said character is meant to represent YOU, although third-person POV is enforced. See below for how to sign up with a character.

4. As mentioned above, the premise of the RP is while some of the characters take part in the Blood Sport they are forced into, others try to find out WHY they are forced into said sport by exploring a large, dungeon-esque facility. This means...

-4a. Whilst your character is in the arena, you won't neccesarily want to try and immediately defeat whoever your opponent is, as you are TRYING to drag out the fight to create time for the others to explore. However, if the fight becomes too boring, the guards will return to their posts and force everyone back, meaning that the arena fighters should ideally Do Well, But Not Perfect to keep them distracted as long as possible.

-4b. Those who are exploring the facility under heavy security, however, are encouraged to fight as hard as possible... as long as they don't break rule 1. It won't always be fighting, either. Expect the occasional, impossible-to-punch-to-death hazard in the place of security drones.

5. Power Creep, Power Seep is in effect, meaning that the Ordinary High-School Student who claims "I Know Mortal Kombat" has a chance of fighting the Hollywood Cyborg with a BFG and Fricken Laser Beams used for Beam Spam. Said cyborg DOES has an advantage, but the student is boosted to Badass Normal levels so (s)he has a fighting chance.

6. Also remember that EVERYONE has Laser-Guided Amnesia. You remember your name and how you use any special abilities you possess, and that's it. Your character will not be able to remember anything at all until the end (Good luck to myself for even getting NEAR that. If we truly CAN bring this RP to an actual conclusion, I will dance merrily like the nerd I am)

BIOS

Again, your character supposed to be a sort of Author Avatar for yourself. Although it's not expected to be whatever is in your avatar, that is perfectly acceptable, whether or not you cannot think of anything else. If you want to be a character from an official work (I.E. Kamina of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Keroro of Keroro Gunsou, Steve from... anything with a guy called Steve, I guess.), you technically CAN be- although you cannot have the character's actual name, you can assume the appearance, personality, and abilities of said character, but an original character is expected, so PLEASE try to be original before you resort to that.

Most importantly, try NOT to be any higher than a 2 on the Super Weight scale. If you think you might be somewhat overpowered because you happen to like too many abilities, give yourself a weakness to trim that Super Weight down a bit.

Name: Hello, [Insert Name Here]! Something based on your TV Tropes username is suggested, but really, as long as it was made using common sense, any name's fine.

Appearance: What you look like. Be as simple or descriptive as you like (But preferably the latter), and provide an image if you can. Note that you don't even have to be human, nor is there any set time period. In fact, a combination of characters fitting in High Fantasy, futuristic, and completely realistic modern settings are encouraged, and for a reason. That reason, however, is too important to say...

Abilities: How you fight, or anything that can give you somewhat of an edge whilst fighting and/or exploring the inner facility. "A good cook" doesn't really work since there's nothing to make food out of, but "Computer hacker" does for exploring a very high-tech facility. And of course, you need at least ONE method of attack, or else you wouldn't be forced to fight in the first place. Something as simple as "I Know Kung Fu" works just fine. See rule 5.

Weaknesses: Not required, but if you are too overpowered, it is suggested to give yourself more of these instead of removing abilities. Don't apply any weaknesses that can be considered being Cursed with Awesome when combined with an ability (I.E. Being a One-Hit-Point Wonder if you become much stronger when you can ONLY take one more attack- this would mean you are ALWAYS in this state of vastly increased strength, regardless of how much more you can take)

Now, I spent an hour wasting my time just typing this, so I will take some time to recover my life before I give my desired character's bio. (HINT IF YOU CARE- it will literally be my Author Avatar)

Well... it's not too based on me as a troper, though I do hope it fits.

  • Name: Mantle
  • Appearance: Short thing body. Wears a red hooded mantle and a white tribal mask vaguely reminiscent of a wolf. Aside from those flashy pieces she wears a simple sleeveless shirt, shorts and sandals and half gloves. Also much of her body is bandaged even when she's not hurt. For a weapon she carried a fairly big monkey wretch, about a meter and 25 cm long.
  • Abilities: Improvised fighting, basic first aid and knows how to operate a computer somewhat better than the average person. She also knows three languages.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

  • Name: Firo
  • Appearance: Green skinned humanoid with short red hair. Muscular body. Wears a black t-shirt and shorts and gray running shoes.
  • Abilities: Relatively quick, stealthy, and physically strong; can take a beating. Carries a titanium crowbar painted black. I Know Mortal Kombat: Bases fighting style off shonen fighting anime, though he only has normal reflexes and physical capabilities. Sort of a melee-based Lightning Bruiser, with no ranged attacks.

^ Both of those are good, thank you. As for my character... well, keep in mind what I said regarding HOW abnormal your Author Avatar can be. I'm giving him some notable weaknesses to make sure he's balanced enough.

  • Name: Cedi

  • Appearance: Cedi is a Half-Human Hybrid, although the only feature of note that other half gives him is a pair of light blue dragon wings. He also has sky blue hair, a blue vest with a pattern, black shorts, and sandals. See my (current) avatar for a visual reference.

  • Abilities: Has some level of proficiency in swordplay, magic, and he can hover about six feet above the ground with his wings while moving around somewhat quickly. Put simply, he is a Fragile Speedster and a Magic Knight at the same time. However, he lacks any abilities suited purely for exploration of the inner facility.

  • Weaknesses: Naturally, the "Fragile" in Fragile Speedster also applies to him, making him more vulnurable than most other fighters. His supply of Mana for his magic is also somewhat limited, meaning that he must conserve its use, and his aforementioned speed is thanks to his wings- injure his wings too badly, and he slows down considerably.
