The Mighty Kyon, prelude.

It’s been a long week for this sophomore in high school.

Not only did I have my grueling studies and Madame Nonsense Haruhi to deal with, but then I wound up with a frost giant sitting on my head, and then I found out that my fiancée-slash-stalker magically went bald, and that of course meant that I had to go kick dwarven butt until they agreed to restore her hair, and then I had to go and put the fear of me in my not-half-brother for... what, the fifth time now? And I still haven’t had time to do my homework yet...

I’m Kyon, by the way. Yeah, it’s a stupid nickname and I don’t remember how I got it.

Of course, you’re wondering how the heck a formerly ordinary high school student got caught up in such wacky misadventures as that.

Well take a seat, dear friend of mine, and if you’ll let me start at the beginning, then I’ll tell you a story.

Like all good stories, it has romance! Danger! Comedy! Epic action! Occasional fanservice! And cyborg ninja penguins!

... Okay, it’ll be a while before we get to the cyborg ninja penguins, but first things first.

You see, it all started on a day unlike any other.

When a hammer fell from the sky...

... Coming from you, that's like ten thousand pages worth of screaming fangirls. And the odd fanboy. I haven't thought this one out as far as I have Nanoha Takamachi of Krypton (now published with a link in the Nanoha fanfic thread), or Neon Knights (SRW-style Eva megacrossover), but I do know how I'm handling the Arts festival and the SOS Brigade movie.

IF all goes according to plan... then that, I believe, will be a true Crowning Moment.

<Beat>

Now if I could just think of a good plotline for the cyborg ninja penguins....

Loki. The answer to all questions of that nature, when dealing with the Mighty Thor, is Loki. Hell, he doesn't even have to have a reason, he could just be screwing around. He's Loki. It's what he does. Although yes, please do continue; it looks entertaining. Which is not something I ever thought I'd say about 'The Aesir of Haruhi Suzumiya' >.>

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Spider Man.

Or Ninja Turtles and the Marvel Universe as a whole.

Or Ninja Turtles and the DC Universe.

I'm surprised it's hasn't been tried yet.

Good point, but I was trying to think of what the cyborg ninja penguin would do besides just be awesome and duke it out with Kyon.

Also, I now plan on two MOHS characters (aside from Kyon) having a Norse connection of some sort. One will be Kyon's fiancee-slash-stalker (not to be confused with the evil stalker, who's just a plain old stalker), the other will turn out to be a Badass Normal.

The Mighty Kyon, new snippet!

It all started during Christmas break three years ago. I know that you and I both are going to be sick of those words by the time we catch up to the present, but bear with me for now.

My little sister, whose name I know and yet don't plan on disclosing anytime soon, had been precociously trying to convince our parents to take us on a vacation. And since I'd gotten good (if average) grades and she behaved well, we wound up going to a mountain resort. At a time of year when it snowed a lot. This detail is important, because it means that nobody would've noticed if a frost giant showed up and caused a blizzard.

Anyhow, it was a nice couple of days, nothing too interesting happened. Until, of course, my seventh-grade self went hiking in the woods one day and stumbled upon a clearing.

And in the middle of said clearing was a good-sized crater, with a hammer dead-center.

Looking back on it now, my common sense should've been tingling like crazy, but like all seventh graders, I was kind of an idiot back then. So of course I went to go look at it.

The hammer bore an inscription, but I had no idea what it said. Last I checked, the average Japanese elementary school doesn't offer a course in Nordic runes.

Thankfully, no sooner had I gripped the handle than my common sense kicked in and I got the distinct feeling that actually picking it up would be the end of my life as I knew it. So I did the smart thing and promptly ran back to the lodge, intending to watch Sentai reruns.

Unfortunately, a hole opened up in the sky and I found myself standing before a huge blue guy with an axe to grind. About that time, the aforementioned blizzard kicked up, and then a few other huge, axe-wielding blue guys fell out of the sky.

And, of course, it didn't seem like they showed up to give humanity the gift of chicken teriyaki, even if it would've been a tad late.

One of them boomed something. Whatever it was, it sounded like bad news. It was at that point I decided that since the world had already devolved into insanity, I might as well grab the hammer anyway and see this madness through to the end.

So, screaming giants all around me, I turned around, intending to go after the hammer... and promptly tripped on it.

Even though I hadn't touched it and was clearly thirty yards from where it had been previously.

Yeah. Turns out even the inanimate objects aren't above stalking me.

But it was convenient to have it right there, so I picked it up anyway.

And the insanity cranked itself up to eleven.

Thanks! And in shameless gratitude for your praise, I have lovingly crafted for you ANOTHER SNIPPET of The Mighty Kyon!

For you see, like any self-respecting weapon from another dimension, picking up the hammer – which I would later find out to be called Mjolnir - isn’t permitted to be a low-key event. No, instead, there’s about ten seconds of being blasted with lightning as the hammer shows off that it found a worthy wielder.

Although, I seriously have to question the Aesir on this. I mean, Mjolnir’s original wielder, Thor, was kicked out for his sheer arrogance. Oh, and kind of being a jerk to everyone all the time except to his wife Sif, to whom he was only a jerk half the time.

So what does it say about the situation when a random seventh grader is apparently more worthy to be the God of Thunder than the God of Thunder himself? Is it that I’m just that special? Probably not. Is it that Thor was really so big a problem that even a child was preferable? Could be. Or were they just so desperate to have a new champion that they didn’t give a damn who picked up the hammer?

Of course, actually voicing these gripes of mine would mean whining to The Big O himself, and that’s not a great idea.

Anyway, I picked up Mjolnir. There was a lot of thunder and lightning, and then I found myself in a tight pair of pants, a shirt with no sleeves, wristbands, a nifty helmet, and one badass red cape.

I also found that the cold didn’t bother me anymore, and that I could understand hat the frost giants were saying.

And in the years since that day, I have never come across profanity even half as vulgar as what I heard on that day.

To be honest, even at that age, it was a sign that somebody needed a punch in the face.

Although, when one of them threatened little sister with a plan that involved a rubber duckie, a colander, tweezers, a jackhammer, my newfound hammer, a printout of Unequally Rational and Emotional, a nine-volt battery, a banana peel, and a vacuum cleaner, I was actually impressed at the sheer creativity the obviously drunken frost giant had just displayed.

Of course, that didn’t stop me from going into ‘irate big brother’ mode.

That’s right. You don’t mess with little sisters, because we older brothers will hunt you down and rain ten billion gigawatts down on your ass.

This would be where I'd shout Shut Up And Take My Money as meme common sense dictates, but I feel constrained to note, Noodle Implements are not really as funny as you think they are.

I didn't expect the Noodle Implements to be any kind of Crowning Moment Of Funny, but as a means of illustrating that drunken frost giants are half-competent Mac Guyver wannabes.

The Govenor of the Tokyo Area and promotor of manga censorship bills despite previously being a writer of erotic novels. Says the woods eat children, says Tokyo people has different genes as the rest of Japan, hates China, says foreigners practicing Japanese sports is an offense, and according to Wikipedia...

In a 2001 interview with women's magazine Shukan Josei, Ishihara said that he believed "old women who live after they have lost their reproductive function are useless and are committing a sin," adding that he "couldn't say this as a politician." He was criticized in the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly for these comments, but responded that the criticism was driven by "tyrant… old women."

Does anyone know why everyone is so obsessed with Mass Effect/ Halo crossovers? Not that there is anything wrong with them, I have written a successful one myself.

It's just that EVERYONE seems to want to cross the two. I can't discern a real reason why. They aren't good for versus because Halo is much more powerful than Mass Effect generally is. One is a Space Opera and the other is Military Sci Fi. It is like there is some invisible force that keeps drawing the two together.

You know what I think would be insane?

A crossover between Sailor Moon and the Persona series. Heck, any of the Persona games (1, 2, 3, or 4) would do, or heck, even a combination or even all of the above, for that matter!

Of course, I'm really interested in seeing the teams from the respective franchises teaming up against evil in all its forms.cool

#295: Aug 15th 2012 at 4:43:14 PM

I could see that work... Though I think there might be a twist where the heroes have villains as their personas, like the MC has Chaos as his Persona, another has Mistress 9 as her Persona, etc.

The reason why I say this is that the Shin Megami Tensei franchise has this perk of casting Satan Is Good and God Is Evil and all this alignment stuff to the point where most games in the series, Persona included, don't have a truly good or evil side and it's up to you to decide who is good and who is evil.

P 3 P doesn't seem that way. Good and evil seems pretty clearly delineated so far.

I'm pretty sure that, regardless of the situation, a meeting between the Sailor Senshi and any one of the Persona teams (let alone all of them) would likely cause the plots of their respective media to go insanely far Off the Rails. Perhaps the new character dynamics could lead to an Earn Your Happy Ending where there canonically was none before.

Of course, it depends on what side of the Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism the crossover ultimately takes...

Huh. It's fitting that I should put this new idea right after a Persona crossover with a magical girl series.

Persona 4 / Pretty Cure crossover, with Rise Kujikawa and Yukiko Amagi as Cure Idol and Cure Nadeshiko respectively.

Why not Yukiko and Chie? Best friends, and Tomboy and Girly Girl dynamic and all?

Truthfully, I have a weird preference for Yukiko / Rise in any form.

This may have something to do with it.

That and the fact that I loved the Kings Game incident(and personally believe that something kinky happened that neither of them remember during that time).evil grin

Of course like any pretty cure series, it will start off with the two of them fighting Shadows which possess people by using their own insecurities to turn them into twisted versions of themselves.

Also, I just realized that Teddie can be the Mentor Mascot, and Chie could be the previous cure, who lost her powers, and it ended splitting between Rise and Yukiko(she'd planned to give it only to the latter, while Teddie wanted to give it to the former, but they realized neither one was strong enough on their own, and split the difference).

Characters from not only Persona3, but Persona1 and 2(both versions of the latter can appear as well).

[up] interesting...

Ok, In my mind I've been brewing ideas for a Kingdom Hearts crossover. It would be set after the whole kingdom hearts series is over (to prevent any canon snafus). So...

What fictional worlds do you think Sora and co should visit?

( Sans Equestria) (it's already on the list, pre-FIM). It's world 1)
