Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.
It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine
They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.
I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

I don't know anything about Exalted, but how about splitting it into half? Say, Characters.Exalted Exalted One and Characters.Exalted Exalted Two

I think it should have a separate page for Characters.Exalted Terrestrial Exalted or something, that's easily the longest section. (Also, redundant character page name.)

Hi folks. The Shout Out page Darths & Droids is giving a "too long" warning when editing.
I started trying to split it and created a subpage named DarthsAndDroids-FilmsLiveAction, but the hyphen messing up the wikilinks made me suddenly realise I don't know the proper procedure for naming subpages for something like this.
Can someone give me pointers on the accepted way to name the subpages, and maybe I need an admin to rename/remove the one I messed up? Or is it fine as-is and I can just keep going? Thanks!
I don't think we've ever split a Shout-Out sub-page before? Any ideas on naming? I suppose your name idea does work.

VideoGame.Final Fantasy IV has five shout-out subpages that are grouped by game mechanics/things. Series.Fargo has four shout-out subpages and WesternAnimation.South Park has three that are divided by season. So I don't think there's a correct way to divide subpages.
These are already neatly foldered, so I think splitting films from the main is a good idea. ShoutOut.Darths And Droids, ShoutOut.Darths And Droids Films (catch animated and live-action)
I think rather than FilmsLiveAction, it would be either FilmLiveAction without the 's' (see Media Categories) or LiveActionFilms (see the many subpages under that title: Live Action Films)
edit: or I guess lumping live-action and animated films together is fine too.

Characters.Riverdale Main is giving the warning. There's also Bi The Way and Badass Gay wicks someone else needs to be remove because the page makes my tablet chug too hard.

That page is something, I tell ya. There were really long descriptions that seem plagiarised, Zero-Context Examples, YMMV, folders with all caps and italics, maybe too many images... Besides, Characters.Riverdale Main Characters exists. Tried to delete the first thing, but that hardly did anything. ~Cuteenergy 23, what's your reason for creating the Characters.Riverdale Main page?
