YMMV / Vs. Impostor

Go To

  • Angst? What Angst?: In stark contrast to the Tear Jerkers below from V3 and V4, the cutscene before "Sabotage" in V2 has Boyfriend only express mild annoyance when Red kills Girlfriend.
Boyfriend: dude what the fuck you killed my girlfriend
    • Likewise, V4 has Boyfriend devastated at Girlfriend's death, and is outright furious at Red for killing her. He gets over it fairly quickly.
    Red: u done?
  • Awesome Moments:
    • The simple fact that, in Week J, Boyfriend was able to help rat out Red Mungus and get him kicked off the ship.
    • While not in the mod itself, an unofficial remaster of "Double Kill" has the ending altered where, instead of Boyfriend and Black going to the Defeat void, he bolts it away from both Impostors in their parasite forms, with the ghost of Yellow steering him on the right path. And with luck, he calls an emergency meeting and gets both White and Black kicked out of the airship, guaranteeing them their big loss.
      • An extra point for this one has to go to Yellow, who made use of the Guardian Shield to save Boyfriend from death and buy him time to go and call an emergency meeting to stop Black and White in their tracks.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
    • Rousey Rival, Tomongus' week. Not only is there no semblance of a plot, it's done in the pixel artsyle of Week 6 in the base game, Boyfriend and Girlfriend are the impostors, and the crewmate turns out to be a mech being piloted by a hamster. It was even more out of place in V3, as it was considered the 3rd Week, and was simply called "The Skeld".
    • Loggo's Halloween also counts for the similar reasons, along with Loggo’s sudden new design in Spookpostor.
    • The Everybody Loves Purple Shout-Out in Week 5 in the cutscene before "Boiling Point", while Foreshadowing for Grey's nature, comes out of nowhere and yet contributes little to gameplay despite seemingly setting up the original Purple as an opponent.
  • Complete Monster: The Black Impostor serves as a stark contrast to the otherwise goofy tone of the mod. A parasitic Serial Killer originating directly from Among Us, the Black Impostor jumps from game to game, butchering as many crewmates as possible, leaving their decaying bodies to rot inside of the Defeat Screen, with them even going as far as to kill fellow impostors. At one point in the mod, Black falsely accuses the parent of a mini gray crewmate of being an impostor, causing them to be ejected, before taking the mini crewmate under their wing and raising them into becoming a serial killer much like themselves. Setting their sights on Boyfriend, Black continuously pursues him, invading his games and killing off everyone inside, including Boyfriend himself, getting the aforementioned mini gray crewmate to assist at various points. Becoming frustrated at Boyfriend's persistence, they proceed to evolve into their true parasite form to face off against the rapper in one final duel, presumably killing him once and for all at the end.
  • Fan-Preferred Cut Content: A scrapped cutscene depicting Boyfriend reaching out to Black (possibly after "Finale"), with the other characters celebrating their victory is pretty popular with the fans due to its unexpected yet welcomed Heartwarming Moments, to the point where they hope it would be implemented in the V5 update.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Grey. His father, Mansur, was Thrown Out the Airlock after being falsely accused of being an Impostor, then Black took him in and made him what he is now.
  • Memetic Mutation: We are going to make Red Mungus fly.note
  • Tear Jerker:
  • That One Level: Defeat, the bonus song in V3 and the sole song in Week 4 outside of Finale. The only strum line visible is your own, meaning you can only guess which notes Black is gonna hit. The REAL kicker, however, is that you have to play this song PERFECTLY in order to beat it. Miss even ONE note, and it's an instant game over. This was nerfed in V4, which now allows you to choose how many combo breaks it will take for Black to kill you, up to six, and the instant kill is absent entirely in their last song, going back to a proper health bar.
  • The Woobie: Grey's father, Mansur. He was falsely accused as an Impostor and was Thrown Out the Airlock, and has his only son taken away from him and made into a killer by Black, and even after that, he is repeatedly killed by Black throughout the entire mod for no explained reason.
