• Adaptation First: The anime adaptation is licensed in North America by Funimation but not the game which it is based on.
• No Export for You:
  • The mobile game never got a official English release despite the anime adaptation being licensed in North America. Technically, the android version of the game itself is available in some regions outside of Japan, however a Japanese phone is likely to be needed due to the game's function of uploading gameplay videos to Lobi is restricted to compatible phones only, preventing incompatible phones from installing the game from Google Play, at least until an update removed the Lobi restriction, among other things.
  • The anime series was released in United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands. So, if you're outside of those countries and regions (Continental Europe, Africa et al), you're practically banned from seeing this anime.
    • It's not longer blocked in Latin America, since ETC TV announced on February 19, 2021 that they're broadcasting several anime, Show By Rock!! among them.
• Non-Singing Voice: Averted in the dub's DVD release.
  • Also averted by every voiced card in the game except for Tanefurun (Mikoi Sasaki), Gengen (Mitsuki Saiga), Maro (Tsubasa Yonaga), and Kanato (Shun'ichi Toki), who all have their singing voices provided by the vocalists of their respective bands.
• The Other Darrin: In the game (and ONA), Retoree was initially voiced by Eri Kitamura, but due to her taking a break from show biz for health reasons before the anime aired she's voiced by Manami Numakura in the anime version. Numakura would eventually take over the role in the game from 2018 onwards and continues to voice Retoree in Fes A Live!
  • Same goes for pretty much every character in the game except for Cyan, Moa, Crow and ChuChu. Show By Rock!! used to have ONA's before the anime, in which characters such as Shingancrimsonz' members were featured. However all of them had a different voice actor. Shuuzo and Daru Tayuu got different singing voices as well, to much protest of the original fans. Some other bands members such as Marimari, made their appearance throughout the anime and she wasn't voiced by the same person as the one that provides her singing/in-game voice, either.
    • However from 2018 onwards, they would have the same voice actors in-game as the anime and Fes A Live! also retains the anime's cast.
  • The dub for Show By Rock!! Stars!! has Zeno Robinson take over voicing Shu☆Zo from Vic Mignogna.
• Second Verse Curse: All of the anime song cuts and the vast majority of in-game song cuts only include the first verse; as a result, it's the only part most players know (unless they go out of their way to buy a song's full version). Inverted with 過去から届いた光の手紙 by Tekebakitsu Shou, which starts from the song's second verse in the game.
• Studio Hop: The first two seasons were animated by Bones, but starting with Mashumairesh!! Kinema Citrus and Polygon Pictures would handle animation duties and continue to do so.
  • Same can be said for the sound effects, Sound Box handled the sound effects for the first two seasons, but Swara Pro would take over sound effects for all future seasons.
