Trivia / Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends

  • Billing Displacement: For his role as Spiderus, Tony Jay is billed above everyone else as "Featuring Tony Jay as Spiderus" and appears above everyone else except for "Kristin Davis as Miss Spider," who gets her own credit before everyone else. This is despite the fact that Spiderus doesn't even appear at all in some stories and, when he does, he often only appears in a minor guest role.
  • Celebrity Voice Actor: Kristin Davis as Miss Spider and Tony Jay as Spiderus. Additionally, Brooke Shields and Rick Moranis voice Miss Spider and Holley for the Pilot Movie.
  • Channel Hop: In Canada, the show’s first two seasons were shown on Teletoon, but Season 3 debuted on Treehouse TV instead. Incidentally, Caillou and Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs, other Preschool Shows originally commissioned for Teletoon, received the shaft around the same time.
  • Children Voicing Children: With the exception of Bounce, all the young bugs are voiced by actual kids.
  • Cross-Regional Voice Acting: For the TV series. Kristin Davis and Tony Jay recorded their lines for Miss Spider and Spiderus from Los Angeles, but the rest of the cast was based in Toronto.
  • Crossdressing Voices: Julie Lemieux voices the male Bounce.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Miss Spider was voiced by Brooke Shields in the Pilot Movie before she was replaced by Kristin Davis.
    • Holley was voiced by Rick Moranis in the pilot movie and by Robert Smith in the series. Smith eventually left the series midway through Season 3, so Richard Clarkin took over the role starting with "Night and Day".
    • Spinner was originally voiced by Austin Di Iulio in the first two seasons, but was replaced by Cameron Ansell in Season 3 due to Di Iulio going through puberty.
  • Screwed by the Network: The show had a consistent rerun schedule on Nickelodeon from September 2004 until July 2005. The show had little to no reruns between July to September 2005, and Between November 2005-March 2006, the show had reruns at 6AM. The show was pulled from Nickelodeon in 2006, with the rest of Season 3 burned off to Noggin, which later became Nick Jr. and aired new episodes there until 2010 in the US, when Season 3 ended in 2007 in Canada.
  • Uncredited Role: Kristin Davis is strangely uncredited in Season 3, despite still voicing Miss Spider in that season.
  • What Could Have Been: David Kirk made previous attempts at having Miss Spider and his second well-known character Nova the Robot from Nova’s Ark adapted into full length features by the hands of Universal Pictures, which did not go through. While this show and Little Miss Spider were adapted (the latter being a short subject narrated by Susan Sarandon), Nova went on to star in an animated commercial for Target alongside his dog Sparky while other books starring the robot boy were produced from 2005-6.
