"Goodbye, my son."

    Turnabout Theatre
  • Despite being rough enough that the victim was hung to death, once you go into more detail during Coco's testimony, the murder becomes even more tragic.
    • Overall Concept was an orphan who almost gave up on his dreams when his parents died but dedicated himself to their memory to keep going.
    • Then when Rarity introduced Coco to him, they became very close. So close, that Overall wrote to Rarity about her filling the void his parents' death had left. So close, they became Domestic Partners.
    • AND THEN HE WAS GOING TO PROPOSE THE NEXT WEEK! Needless to say, Coco is VERY shaken after she finds this out.
      Coco: He.....he was...going to propose...to me...?
  • In an angry tears sort of way, Blueblood turns the tragedy of this situation to paint Coco as a heartless mare who ruined everything for her own selfishness, when she's clearly hurting.
  • Ultimately it's proven that Overall killed himself. Possibly due to a flare-up of depression that no one noticed; Coco tearfully blames herself.

    Crusading for a Turnabout
  • Scootaloo's arrest is one of the worst possible things to happen to a filly like her.
  • Apple Bloom really didn't have a good day here. First, one of her best friends is arrested, then while investigating to prove her innocence she gets horrifically traumatized after seeing The Nightmare Night Statue covered in blood.
  • Athena really didn't understand the whole situation, but when she told Twilight that it is wonderful to live in a castle, Twilight states that she'd like her old home back. She then shows the Golden Oaks Library Ruins, how that happened, and the fact that she never asked for this in the aftermath and is forced into a role she never wanted. This also makes her not so different from Athena herself.
  • There is a second defendant in this case: Turning Page. Scootaloo is already a bad case but patricide is another horrible can of worms.
  • Athena's and Twilight's discussion on the balcony where they talk about their insecurities and how they aren't so different from each other.
  • After Scootaloo and Turning Page are cleared of the murder, a new suspect is revealed. It's Sweetie Belle.
  • Silver Spoon has to deal with her parents not being around; only being with her for stuff related to her medical needs and leaving as soon as it’s done.
  • Sugar Stamp isn't as cheerful and happy as she pretends to be. She reveals that she has no family since her husband died half a year ago due to a heart attack and, possibly, has no children at all. This stuns everyone hearing this confession.
  • When Phoenix notices Athena's growing stubbornness to try and prove herself, he takes her aside to give her a stern talking to. She confesses she's frustrated over how she constantly feels she's stuck in Phoenix's and Apollo's shadows and believes she can't improve her skills unless she tries to go solo. Phoenix responds by telling her of the time he tried to do the same thing and how it resulted in a trainwreck of bad choices that nearly ruined his life. Athena, Twilight, and everyone else are naturally horrified at this revelation.
  • Sweetie Belle's confession of what happened in the Everfree Forest. She initially went in to stop Scootaloo and Turning Page, but got attacked by the Timberwolves and, as she describes, almost lost her leg. Had Silver Spoon not found her and made the tourniquet, there's a very high possibility that Sweetie Belle would have died.
  • Silver Spoon divulged her feelings to Sweetie Belle after they got out of the Everfree Forest, expressing her jealousy towards the Cutie Mark Crusaders' comradery and happiness with one another, something that she and Diamond Tiara didn't have. She also thinks her friendship with Diamond Tiara was only formed because of the absence of their parents in their life, which also makes Silver Spoon afraid to break the friendship because she's scared she would be alone otherwise. It gets even more heartbreaking when Silver Spoon decides to ask if Sweetie Belle would like to hang out with her, only for Sweetie Belle to reject and shut the door in her face.
  • Sweetie Belle's attempt to save Scootaloo and get her vengeance against Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon has her accusing Turning Page of murder by creating the anonymous tip, manipulating Spike into sending the letter for her by offering to help get him a date with Rarity, lying and hiding her tracks, framing Diamond Tiara by planting the magazine in her trash can and, worst of all, blackmailing Silver Spoon into enacting all this by leveraging the feelings Silver Spoon had told her about her friendship with Diamond Tiara and crucially, the potion that she had used to save Sweetie's life since the potion was a rare valuable one used by the hospital Silver Spoon’s parents worked at. Once Athena had laid out everything Sweetie Belle had done, she breaks down, screaming and crying a fountain of tears. In the aftermath of her explanation, Luna points out the tragic irony, that in order to get back at what Diamond Tiara had done, Sweetie Belle had done everything Diamond Tiara did, if not worse. Sweetie Belle, in horror of what she's done, visibly but silently cries through the rest of the trial unless called upon.
  • Athena realizes that Turning Page may actually be guilty of killing his own father. Crosses into Nightmare Fuel.
  • Luna's entire change of demeanor counts as well, especially when Athena points out that Luna herself is the one who gave her the idea that Turning Page is the culprit and the one that makes the most sense. Even when the bruise is found on Turning Page, Luna remains in denial, most likely unable to believe that a child could commit such an act.
  • The entire ending of case 2-9. Everything makes the final victory taste like ash: Turning Page killed his father by accident and Fair Devotion made the whole conspiracy with Sugar Stamp and Private Eye to protect him from banishment. Since it's a case of double jeopardy, he is not banished, but is forced to go to the military academy. Other conspirators are going to pay the price as well, meaning that Private Eye's career is presumably over for good, Fair Devotion is separated from her son with a tearful goodbye, and making Sugar Stamp Turning's legal guardian is still in question since she committed perjury. No one can say if the cost was worth the truth. After the trial, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle (the latter of whom is still sobbing when her Not Guilty verdict is handed down) are quarreling about what has happened, and Twilight is starting to figure out that her friends are keeping secrets from her. As if that's not enough, Lawkeeper Equity comes with a speech about trust issues AND arrests Rarity for Overall Concept's murder. For the final nail in the coffin, it turns out that after what happened, none of the main cast can truly trust each other, seemingly proving Equity's point.

    Bonds of Justice
  • The entirety of Messages where Coco's voice messages to the late Overall Concept culminate in her barely holding back tears while saying goodbye posthumously to her never-to-be betrothed.
