Recap / The Real Ghostbusters S 6 E 15 Busters In Toyland

Go To

A man repairs a clock at a toy store, but when he leaves and the clock chimes midnight, a portal opens and monsters exit. One of them asks to be brought a "victim", and possesses some toys without the humans noticing.

The next day, at the firehouse, a demon appears to pop out but it's only a little boy. He reveals that he's Louis's nephew and it's his birthday. The nephew, Lawrence, is energetic and wants to play, but Peter isn't so keen. Meanwhile, Ray, Slimer, and Louis are at the toy store to buy Lawrence a toy. However, it's tricky, since Lawrence is spoiled and already has most of the toys that are on offer. The three possessed toys change the sign to make themselves on sale, so Louis buys them.

Back at the firehouse, Lawrence blows his candles out, then the Ghostbusters and Slimer try to put on a show. However, it doesn't go well — Slimer plays pots and pans like drums badly, Egon makes germs out of balloons which the kids find boring, and Peter is too embarrassed to be a clown. He eventually grudgingly does, but Lawrence still only cares about the presents. Upon getting them, he rudely throws them away, except for Louis's presents, who come to life and talk to him. Then, they eat a bunch of the party food, then the toy robot turns into a little plane, and Lawrence gets into it and flies off with the other two.

The Ghostbusters and Louis in the Ecto-1 chase after Lawrence in the plane, and Egon scans and determines the toys are haunted. Everyone enters the toy store, then Lawrence and Peter end up going through the portal. Egon determines they're in another dimension and that if they tried to blast through, it could destroy the portal and leave them stuck there forever.

Lawrence is having a great time in the other dimension, which is toy-themed, and the demon is glad that he's got Lawrence but worried that Peter will "interfere". Lawrence and Peter get separated, and then the demon refers to the dimension as Lawrence's "kingdom". He calls it "Toyland" and says that Lawrence can have whatever he wants there. The demon then arrives before Peter and locks him in a cage. He introduces himself as Lothgar and claims he has "plans" for Lawrence.

Meanwhile, Ray, Egon, Winston, Slimer, and Louis are trying to think up ways to save Peter and Lawrence. They realise that the portal opens at noon and midnight, so they wonder if it will open when the hands are straight up. Winston changes the clock, and they do.

Everyone enters the dimension, where they find Peter locked in his cage. Luckily, Slimer licks the bars and they dissolve like candy, freeing Peter. Peter explains about Lothgar, and Egon looks him up and explains that Lothgar was trapped in the dimension as a result of his greed, and to escape he must need someone else greedy to take his place. Meanwhile, Lothgar continues to tempt Lawrence.

The Ghostbusters find the haunted toy robot, now in the form of a giant robot, and blast it, but it fights back with lasers. Luckily, Egon decides they must attack its control panel, which they do and it works. Meanwhile, Lothgar grabs Lawrence and starts to turn him into a demon as well.

Lothgar declares that he's free, then the Ghostbusters, Slimer, and Louis run in. Louis tries to fight Lothgar, and Lawrence escapes but Louis ends up on top of Lothgar, who flies away. Everyone chases him in a fire truck, then the Ghostbusters trap Lothgar just before he exits the portal and save Louis. With Lothgar gone, Lawrence loses his demon ears and tail and "Toyland" ceases to be. Everyone exits, then the Ghostbusters fry the clock to seal the portal. Then, Lawrence apologises for being a "total jerk" and thanks the Ghostbusters and Louis for saving his life.
