The twelfth episode of the first season of The Looney Tunes Show.

Daffy wins a romantic dinner for two at The Sunset Room, but after bringing up previous experiences he's had dating a woman, Bugs gets his sort-of girlfriend, Lola Bunny, to help Daffy understand so he can have better luck with asking someone out. In the process, Daffy successfully asks out a female duck named Tina Russo and Lola develops feelings for Daffy, but gets jealous when she sees that he has feelings for Tina. Bugs, meanwhile, finds himself feeling weirdly jealous when he sees that Lola's gotten over him and moved on to Daffy.

This episode features the "Be Polite" Merrie Melodies music video and the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote short, "Wile E. Sisyphus".


This episode contains examples of:

  • Annoying Laugh: Tina snorts while laughing it up with Daffy.
  • Brutal Honesty: When given the opportunity, Tina lists all of Daffy's flaws. He is impressed by how accurate and to the point she was. She later calls Porky by name completely by accident making an observation on his physical appearance.
  • Call-Back: When trying to think of ways to try to impress Lola, Bugs considers telling her he invented the carrot peeler.
  • Camera Abuse: The "Be Polite" Merrie Melodies music video ends with Marvin the Martian shooting his laser beam at the camera after saying "Be polite, or I'll vaporize you."
  • Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: In a Green-Eyed Epiphany, Bugs saying that he is Lola's boyfriend. Immediately afterwards, he can't believe he actually said that. Lola proves he did by revealing she recorded it.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Daffy's response to Tina agreeing to go out with him. He was so certain she'd say no that he was in the process of leaving the building before being told what actually happened.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The last line in the "Be Polite" Merrie Melodies music video is from Marvin, who says "Be polite, or I'll vaporize you."
  • Disproportionate Reward: The "Be Polite" Merrie Melodies music video involves Mac and Tosh repaying everyday acts of courtesy with eleborate gifts. Tosh sends his aunt a muffin basket for the birthday card she sent him, Mac gives the bank teller all his cash when she smiles at him, and both gophers knit a sweater vest for a waiter who set their plates just right and take a tow truck driver to a Broadway play for refilling their car's gas tank.
  • The Door Slams You: In the "Be Polite" Merrie Melodies music video, this happens to one of Marvin's Instant Martians when the word DOORS emerges from behind a door as Marvin says "Open doors and pull out chairs."
  • Frying Pan of Doom: In the "Be Polite" Merrie Melodies music video, Mac and Tosh wave hello to Sylvester, who is just about to eat Tweety. Sylvester lets Tweety go to wave back at the two gophers, allowing Tweety to hit him on the head with a frying pan.
  • Graceful Loser: When he thinks Tina's not interested (both before and during the date), Daffy is completely understanding and wishes her good day.
  • Green-Eyed Epiphany: Bugs' jealousy towards Lola having feelings for Daffy makes him realize that he has feelings for her and genuinely wants Lola to be his girlfriend.
  • Helping Granny Cross the Street: One of the lyrics in the "Be Polite" Merrie Melodies music video is "When helping Granny cross the street, take the time to massage her feet." Mac and Tosh do just that in the middle of the road, holding up traffic.
  • I Can Change My Beloved: Tina likens Daffy to a "disgusting building" loaded with problems, saying most others would simply tear it down rather than put in the work fixing it up. She, however, likes a project she sees potential in.
    Daffy: And am I that disgusting building?
    Tina: Yeah.
    Daffy: That is the nicest thing that anyone has ever said about me.
  • Jaw Drop: Daffy in response to Tina using his "Hook it up" line without any prompting.
  • Nice Guy: Mac and Tosh's song highlights the many ways they're nice to others, from helping Granny cross the street to treating a helpful tow truck driver to a Broadway play.
  • Operation: Jealousy: After Lola develops a crush on Daffy, who ends up asking Tina out on a date, Lola takes Bugs out on a date to the same restaurant that Daffy's taking Tina to in an attempt to make Daffy jealous.
  • Ridiculous Counter-Request: When a couple at a restaurant mistake Daffy for the maĆ®tre d':
    Man: We'd like a table for two.
    Daffy: Great. I'd like a pair of solid gold pants, but I'm not bugging you about it.
  • Sexiness Score: A series of flashbacks shows Daffy's "trouble" with figuring out women. One of them shows a date asking Daffy if he thinks she is pretty. He replied that no woman should be judged on her looks. But if he had to, a four and a half.
  • Space Whale Aesop: Be polite... or Marvin the Martian will vaporize you.
  • Staircase Tumble: In the "Be Polite" Merrie Melodies music video, this happens to one of Marvin's Instant Martians when the word STAIRS pushes him as Marvin says "Don't push people down the stairs."
  • Status Quo Is God: Lola goes back to crushing on Bugs when he says out loud that Lola is his girlfriend.
  • Women Are Wiser: Tina points out two adults can talk without a script and accurately lists every single flaw that Daffy has.
