After rebuilding the bandshell, Molly needs to book an act to play there. She hatches a plan to get country singer Kenny Star to come to Brighton.

This episode includes examples of:

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: On seeing Molly utterly defeated and disappointed, Scratch has another attack of conscience and, with great reluctance, decides to help her out.
  • Binocular Shot: We see through this POV when Scratch extends his eyes like binoculars to spot a tour bus.
  • City Shout Outs:
Atomic Pink Lead Singer: Hello, Cleveland! Your city is…smaller than we thought it would be!
  • Closest Thing We Got: In a Time for Plan B moment, Scratch just grabs the first tour bus he can find after he can't catch up with Kenny's jet.
  • Crop Circles: When the bus goes through the cornfield, it hits a scarecrow, a tractor, and a flying saucer.
  • Demonic Possession: Scratch once again possesses someone, this time the driver of a tour bus after failing to catch Kenny Star's private jet. However he doesn't check who is on the bus before doing so, even failing to get Kenny's stunt double. Fortunately he managed to get a different band, who mistake Brighton for Cleveland.
  • The Drag-Along: Scratch outright refuses to help Molly and her family find Kenny. Molly deliberately invokes the curse (which summons Scratch whenever she says his name) to force him to participate.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Scratch drives this way when he possesses Atomic Pink's bus driver.
  • Eagleland: This seems to be Kenny Star’s aesthetic, judging from the video Molly shows her family of him being shot out of an American flag-patterned cannon, riding on an eagle, and then participating in various stereotypically all-American activities with said eagle.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Eva Hernández, the reporter sent to document Turnip Fest in the later episode The Turnip Twist, shows up to interview Kenny Star on his private plane.
  • Fish Eyes: When Scratch questions Molly about how long it took her to make her chart of Kenny Star's habits and travel plan, one of her eyes briefly begins listing to the side from her passing out on her feet.
  • The Faceless: When Molly greets whom she thinks is Kenny coming off the bus, his face is not shown head-on until it was revealed to be his stunt double.
  • Foreshadowing: The tour bus Scratch ends up hijacking turns out to belong to Atomic Pink, the K-pop group Darryl was listening to near the start of the episode.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: While Scratch is driving through the corn field among the items he runs over are a flying saucer and two aliens.
  • Gossip Evolution: News of the McGees getting Kenny Star to play in Brighton morphs into rumors about a massive show with pyrotechnics, acrobatics, and a live eagle.
  • Human Cannonball: Kenny Star gets shot out of a cannon in his music video. His stunt double also does this later to transport himself to a truck stop restroom.
  • Ignoring by Singing: Scratch tries to do this to ignore Molly’s voice of optimism in his head encouraging him to go the extra mile for her and Brighton - it doesn’t work.
  • Immediate Sequel: Picks up where the previous episode left off, with Brighton now needing an act play at the newly rebuilt bandshell.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong:
    • Right as Scratch is beginning to rub it in Molly’s face that Kenny isn’t at the truck stop like she predicted, he gets run over by the singer’s tour bus.
    • Sharon tries to comfort Molly by telling her that she’s sure everyone will be okay with Kenny not coming to Brighton. They then pull up to the bandshell to see a huge crowd of people chanting Kenny’s name.
  • It's All My Fault: Molly blames herself for getting the town’s hopes up over the bandshell and Kenny Star only to have to go back home and tell them she failed.
  • Mistaken Identity: Molly gives her entire impassioned speech to the man she thinks is Kenny Star, only to realize she had been tracking down his stunt double the whole time.
  • News Travels Fast: A neighbor overhears Molly say they're going to get Kenny Star to perform at the bandshell just as the family is getting in the car. The news spreads all over town so fast the McGees are barely out of the driveway when it comes back to them.
  • String Theory: Molly uses this method to present her plan of meeting up with Kenny Star to her family.
Scratch: Ohhhhh, we’re going to murder him!
  • Terrible Interviewees Montage: The episode opens with a bunch of half-assed musical acts auditioning to perform at the Brighton Bandshell, and Patty shooting them all down.
  • Time for Plan B: After Scratch is unable to catch up to Kenny Star's private jet, he sees a tour bus below and, without knowing who was in it, decides it's better than nothing. Lampshaded when Scratch makes a letter B hand puppet and has a conversation with it, ending it with "Thanks, Plan B."
  • Wingding Eyes: Molly gets literal stars in her eyes when she suggests that they try to get Kenny Star to perform at the bandshell.
