Tropes present in this episode:

  • Animal Motifs: Dempsey has a spider motif, as he wears a lot of black, uses the codename Cobweb, calls a sentry he radioed Spiderman, and when capturing Tinker and Rose, says "step into my parlor please."
  • Badass Driver: In addition to the Duke Boys and Daisy, Tinker does ok in a couple scenes.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: What does Enos have to say when Jesse and Daisy stop to check on him after the drug smugglers shot a bulelt through his windshield, causing him to lose control, go off the road and flip over?
Enos: Hi, Daisy.
  • Chained Heat: Boss, Rosco and Enos are all handcuffed together (and facing opposite directions) byy the Dukes during a jail break and make a comical show trying to run after them.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Mason, Tinker and Rose are pretty well-equipped, as shown by how their able to have the equipment to climb a telephone pole and tap into the conversation in seconds. Later when Tinker and Rose climb up a mountain to help the Duke Boys they make sure to take up a hang glider and some explosives in case they lose the climbing equipment or need to make a fast chase and that comes in handy.
  • Easily-Overheard Conversation: A phone call from Luke to Jesse is overheard by both Boss's cousin the telephone operator and Tinker and Rose tapping into the telephone line.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Boss declares that he wouldn't get involved in drug running for any price.
  • Girly Bruiser: Tinker and Rose are both well-made up, often smiling girls with long fingernails, and good makeup who are able to beat the Duke boys in a fist fight when the cousins didn't know they were girls (and thus weren't going easy on them).
  • Heroic Seductress: Done lightly when Tinker and Rose flirt with Rosco for information.
  • In the Blood: Mason's father and grandfather were detectives.
  • Male Gaze: The camera shows Tinker and Rose from behind in climbing shorts (albeit not in a close-up) while commenting about how climbing the mountain "isn't easy, but sometimes it sure is pretty. You know what I mean?"
  • Never My Fault: Boss is quick to blame Rosco for his own moment of Saying Too Much.
  • Noodle Incident: It's referenced that Mason and the girls have had a past run in with Dempsey which apparently sent him to jail.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite some indications that he may, Dempsey doesn't try to have the Dukes Boys and the girls when their prisoners.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Downplayed, but Tinker and Mason each wear pink in one scene each.
  • Poorly Disguised Pilot: This episode was intended to spin off into a new series, which didn't sell.
  • Porn Stache: Ryan and Davis are both slimy individuals with thin mustaches.
  • Two Guys and a Girl: Mason Tinker and Rose, although its left ambiguous whether their relationship is a platonic one, Polyamory or just Friends with Benefits (as they do flirt with the Duke Boys and Mason might be flirting with Daisy at the end).
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Tinker and Rose pretend to faint in order to distract a couple of guards who have them at gunpoint. When those guards gain the upper hand they fake a sprained ankle to distract them again.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Rosco gets promised 20% of the rewards by boss but isn't the one to catch the good guys and thus fails to get it. That being said, Rosco and Enos do get a bit of the credit and glory from the incident according to the end.
