Recap / Martha Speaks S 2 E 8 Martha In The Hold

Go To

After Martha explains that the vocab words are about travel, she and Danny are seen in the attic, finding suitcases for a trip. Martha wishes she could come along as well, but they will be flying, and dogs aren't allowed on planes. Later, Helen, Martha, Alice, T.D., and Truman are talking about their summer plans (with Martha jealously sighing) and Helen reveals the trip is to Montana. Then, she reveals that Martha and Skits are coming with them after all, but they'll be riding in the cargo hold, which scares Martha.

Later, she talks to Rinty, John, Burt, Francois, and Cisco about her problem, and they reveal that they've ridden in cargo holds before, but slept through it. On the way to the airport, Helen explains that she will give Martha and Skits sleeping pills.

However, when Martha meets a cat who claims he isn't taking a pill, she refuses to take hers, belatedly realising that the cat isn't flying in the cargo hold due to his size. Martha is very scared and sad in the cargo hold, but then she hears the barking of another scared dog. She tries to escape to find this dog, but can't until she tries using a suitcase label but accidentally opens the suitcase, the clothes fly out and knock something over, which knocks over another suitcase, which knocks over a box, which knocks over another box full of marbles, and a marble bounces on the cage, letting her out.

She finds the dog, who, like her, was given a pill but refused to take it. Then, turbulence wakes up all the dogs who did take pills, but luckily, Martha has gotten over her fears and reassures them all. Then, the plane lands, and the Lorraines embark, as does the cat, who is cranky due to having been scared of the turbulence.

  • Animal Jingoism: Downplayed. The cat teases Martha but isn't too mean to her.
