Chief Marquez sends Amy and the player on patrol to Studio 51, a science fiction set where the latest alien movie, "Warzone Pacific", is being filmed. There, they find the body of lead actor Rex Logan, torso melted with acid.

Tropes:

  • Award Show: This case reveals that the Ivywood Movie Awards, the biggest event in the district, will be taking place in a few weeks, and it seems like the Utopians have something planned for that particular night...
  • Brainwash: Susan becomes brainwashed by the Utopians during the Additional Investigation after she tries to leave them.
  • Call-Back: Holly Hooper and Susan Blair reappear as suspects.
  • Cult Defector: Russell tells you about a piece of Utopian mythology where a legendary member of the cult called Adel was accused of being a traitor, and now statues of him in a particular pose (which is the same one the victim was found) are used by other Utopians to warn against defectors. Unsurprisingly, the victim was killed for this reason by fellow Utopian Daniel Lambert.
Daniel: I was a devout Utopian, but Rex only used the religion to get what he wanted! He was a traitor to our faith, that's why I posed him like Adel!
  • Drive-In Theater: One of the crime scenes is one, since a fan gathering of the victim's movies took place there.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: Rex had a bunch of these taken by paparazzi, where he was shown in compromising situations that would've tarnished the Utopian's reputation. Holly even tells you she's glad he's dead since now they won't have to deal with Rex's behavior.
  • Fangirl: Susan Blair was a big fan of Rex Logan, hence why she became an Utopian in order to land a role in a movie led by him.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Amy tells you about Rex Logan and his leading role in Warzone Pacific seconds before you find his body.
  • Frame-Up: Daniel killed Rex with acid coming from the prop room since it would implicate Lucy, the prop and costume maker, in the murder.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Daniel killed Rex both because he only used the Utopian cult to gain fame and because he was jealous of him receiving the main role while Daniel was relegated as a secondary actor.
  • Hollywood Acid: How the victim was killed.
  • I'm Melting!: The victim's torso was melted with acid until only his bones remained.
  • Mistaken for Aliens: Judge Dante mistakes Daniel for an alien during his trial.
Honorable Dante: What, I'm judging an alien?! I told you a thousand times, I do not have the qualifications to give judgment on intergalactic matters!
Daniel: I'm wearing makeup, Your Honor. It's not that hard to notice.
  • Nice Character, Mean Actor: Rex, known for playing heroic characters in science fiction movies, was a Smug Snake who belittled his fellow cast members and even the director solely because he was in the lead role.
  • Prone to Tears: Due to still being affected about her brother's arrest, Amy is shown to be very sensible in this case, which leads to her crying when you find the body as she believes death is following her everywhere she goes.
  • Properly Paranoid: During the Additional Investigation, Susan tells you she thinks someone's following her, but her fellow Utopians are dismissing her worries. Then she gets Brainwashed.
  • Shameless Self-Promoter: Holly does this about herself and the Utopians in general, trying to recruit the player for their cult.
Holly: Rex was supposed to give a speech, about how being a Utopian helped him be a better actor... It's just so sad what happened to him. He was so good, so beautiful, so handsome...
: But then again, so are most Utopians, like me! You should think about joining the faith, <Player's Name>, you clearly have what it takes!
  • Shout-Out:
  • Skewed Priorities: Daniel Lambert, one of the actors, seems more concerned with the fact that the movie will get delayed than its main actor dying. It probably helps he's the killer.
