Jade: [surrounded by the Shadowkhan in the dream version of Section 13] Bad day.
The Queen: I would say good day, not a bad one. [reveals herself]
Jade: YOU!
The Queen: I think you mean me, don't you Jade?
Jade: But... but how? The tattoo is gone. Uncle's potion removed it.
The Queen: [laughs] Amusing, but you are merely considering me as a mere magical creation of the mark, but I am so much more.
Jade: What do you mean by that?
The Queen: I am your anger and bitterness, directed at those who don't want to comprehend us, like our school peers and our parents. I am your independence and rebellious temperament, which allows us to question and go against the authority of others, from Jackie to our teachers. I am also your curiosity and desire for more, either adventures or simply to prove ourselves to the world. In short, I am your shadow, your inner darkness, which existed long before the tattoo, and I will always exist no matter what.
Jade: So, you are saying that you are part of me?
The Queen: Duh! Seriously, it is not that difficult to see how close we are, don't you think so Jade? And now it is time.
Jade: Time for AOOHHH! [starts sinking in her own shadow]
The Queen: It is time for you to accept your fate. It is time for you to become my shadow.
Jade: NO, STOP IT!
The Queen: It was meant to be like this Jade, ever since you put the mark on your ankle. Accept it.
Jade: NO, NEVER!
The Queen: I am and shall remain the Queen of the Shadowkhan, while you are nothing but my kage now. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! [the dream ends]
Chapter 2

"Nerissa, Nerissa. It seems today is our lucky day. Along with the spider, we found a very rare and precious stone."
Nerissa, Chapter 4

Luba: Of all possible threats that could spell doom to Kandrakar, I would have never imagined that a young girl would be the most dangerous to us. Even now, I still find it hard to believe.
Himerish: Greatness can have surprisingly humble beginnings Luba. When I was young, I never thought that I would one day become a sage of Kandrakar, let alone its Oracle. And practically all around me thought the same too. [in his thoughts] Unfortunately greatness is neutral in itself. It can serve the greater good or bring a great evil instead. It all depends of the person in question.
Chapter 5

Phobos: I must admit, I never imagined that you were such a foolish band. It makes me wonder how you Rebels managed to beat me. But wait, it was never you, right?
Caleb: What do you mean by that? We clearly prevailed against you and your mighty army. Half of it even abandoned you. I think that proves without doubt our victory towards your tyranny.
Phobos: I think that you have some facts distorted, Rebel. From my understanding, it was the Guardians and later my sister that made your victory possible. Without them, you are nothing but a bunch of peasants slightly above bandits.
Phobos: Says the group of mighty Rebels that shake in their boots because of an even younger girl, one that looks as harmless as she is weak. If it was possible, it would make you even more pathetic than you already are. [laughs]
Caleb: Enough games, Phobos. Who was she? And the old sorceress, another one of your minions?
Phobos: Why don't you ask the great and powerful Mage? I'm sure that she will point you in the right direction, don't you think? [retreats to the shadows of his cell, his maniacal laughter echoing for a few moments]
Chapter 5

Frost: Look at you Raythor, barely half the man you used to be. You even let another little girl join out ranks!
Raythor: Any one of these children is more useful than you and that mount of yours combined. And even now I am still twice the soldier you will ever be.
Chapter 6

"If all goes well, Kage's power will be mine to command along with the Heart of Meridian."
Nerissa, Chapter 6

"Darkness within is formed by much more than hate and anger, Jade. Pain and suffering are more of a source than simple hatred."
The Queen, Chapter 6

The Queen: What do you think you're doing?
Jade: What I always do best, face whatever tries to put me down. [cuts a bandana out of orange cloth and wraps it on her forehead] I think that this will help me remember of who I am. I am Jade Chan, the girl that defies all odds, either on Earth or Meridian. Look out Meridian, for Jade Chan is here.
[...]
The Queen: We will see who this world will fear more. You or me, the Queen of all Shadowkhan.
Chapter 6

"Friendship is a mere illusion Kage, especially in this world."
Miranda, Chapter 7

Jade: I am getting sick and tired of your advice. You don't know me. I don't kill. I have never killed before and I will never, ever kill anyone, is that clear?
The Queen: [laughs] Never killed? Please Jade, don't lie to yourself. [forces into Jade's mind memories of her killing Shendu]
Jade: No, that was different, he was threat even as a statue. Besides, it never actually stopped him, he still existed even without a body.
The Queen: It doesn't change the fact that WE tried to kill him, that WE wanted to eliminate him. For all purposes, WE thought that WE had killed him at the time, and it tasted wonderful, didn't it?
Chapter 8

Will: You're a coward Kage, hiding in the shadows instead of having the guts to face me head on.
Jade: Funny that you of all people would talk about cowardice.
Will: What's that supposed to mean?
Will: I did no such thing. Neither did my friends.
Jade: Don't lie. I know all about what you did to Raythor, how you desecrated his loyalty and honor. And for that, for a blue brute who only deserves to be banished?
Will: We had to do it to save Vathek. Besides, he rightfully deserved what happened to him. Raythor is a traitor to Meridian, the same as all of you Knights.
Jade: Traitors, us? I think that you have everything backwards. Who betrayed his vow by spying for the Rebellion? Or betrayed his vow by helping the Rebellion? Vathek and Tynar are the ones that betrayed their principles and words of honor, not Raythor. They are the true traitors. As for you five, well you are even less than them. You are no heroes, you never were to begin with.
Will: We are the Guardians, chosen to fend off evil to save the Universe. We helped bring down your master and all his minions. We are heroes.
Jade: So, saving one measly world makes you heroes? Don't make me laugh. I know true heroes, true champions of good and justice. They never compromised their ideals and principles in order to win against evil. Compared to them, you are less than a pale imitation. You don't deserve the position that you hold.
Will: You talk big for a bad guy that is about to be defeated. Besides, your type doesn't care for heroism and good.
Jade: You know nothing of my type.
Chapter 9

"I wonder if in your universe there is also a Kandrakar that tries to contain other worlds in their sphere of influence, like wardens of an inter-dimensional prison. Maybe you are an escapee from your own home because of them? Or maybe you landed here merely by accident? Or someone banished you to our universe somehow? I guess that's the problem with Infinity; we can't keep up with the number of possibilities or what ifs."
Yua pondering about Jade, Chapter 11

Jade: Must everything involve threats with you?
Miranda: It's how things work, Kage. Fear, threats, deceit and manipulation; it's the way of the universe.
Jade: What about trust?
Miranda: The most stupid thing that someone can relay on. Trust is for fools, Kage, believe me in that.
Jade: So that means I can't trust you or a single word that leaves your mouth.
Miranda: You took that long to figure it out?
Miranda: Yes... wait, what?
Jade: So should I trust what you said about not trusting you, or not trust that, which means that I have to trust you? Quite the dilemma.
Miranda: Stop that! You mixed up everything I said!
Jade: Me? You're the one that brought up this paradox.
Miranda: [growls] Enough with the jokes. I'm not amused.
Jade: With a face and personality like that, no wonder.
Chapter 11

Miranda: The only justice that I know is the one that people create and enforce. Everyone has their own definition of right and wrong, but only strength determines which set of rights and wrongs prevails.
Jade: I don't believe in that. There is right, and there is wrong. As much as there is good and evil. It's how the world works.
Miranda: Then you are as naïve as Elyon is. Or the Guardians and the Rebels, for that matter. There is no evil, just as there is no good. Life is cruel and ruthless, not wrong. Or right. It simply is.
