Basic Trope: A female Otaku who is obsessed with the Yaoi Genre.

  • Straight: Alice reads Yaoi Genre works, and has a few favorite pairings (some canon, some not).
  • Exaggerated:
    • Not only does Alice read and write fanfiction and draw fanart of Bishounen in relationships and/or having sex, she'll literally squeal whenever she sees it, even non-human pairings aren't her exceptions. And she begs Bob and Charlie to "perform live yaoi" (i.e. make out) for her, and goes to gay bars to ogle the patrons there. (She's never had a real boyfriend, however, because she's too Hollywood Homely and/or Hollywood Pudgy, and her revolting personality doesn't help any.)
    • The Improbably Female Cast features the whole bunch of Yaoi Genre fans, which constantly Squee everytime whenever they see some drops of Homoerotic Subtext. Not to mention, they may partake in yaoi-themed lesbian orgies.
  • Downplayed:
    • Alice has a favorite pairing that happens to be male-male, but doesn't make a big deal about it.
    • Alice likes all different kinds of pairings, but she mostly enjoys male-male pairing.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted:
  • Gender Inverted: Bob is a big Yuri Fan.
  • Subverted:
    • Alice is seen reading something that looks like it could be a yaoi, but is just a generic Shōjo or Josei manga.
    • Alice is seen reading something that looks like it could be a yaoi, but the pairing is actually Bifauxnen and Lad-ette.
  • Double Subverted: It does, however, happen to have a male-male pairing in it, and that's the main reason Alice is reading it.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged: Alice likes all different kinds of pairings.
  • Averted: Alice doesn't even know what yaoi is, much less read it.
  • Enforced: The creators of Cast Full of Gay know that straight girls are their Periphery Demographic and they want to attract them as well as their original gay Target Audience so they add an Audience Surrogate sole female character that straight girls can relate and enjoy without any odd in gay media.
  • Lampshaded: "Alice, why are you reading that yaoi trash?"
  • Invoked: Fag Hag
  • Exploited: Bob and Charlie pretend to be gay couple to get closer to Alice due to her obsession of yaoi.
  • Defied: "No, screw it! I won't even read that male-male thing! It's for outcast little girls!"
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Alice's attitudes to yaoi and wanting to see it everywhere causes straight male friends to not be overly emotional with each other. This contributes to the societal norm of men not being overly emotional with their friends even though they'd like to be. When Alice asks Bob why men don't show their feelings to each other more, Bob points out Alice's behavior as the cause.
  • Reconstructed: Alice mellows out due to Character Development. She understands that people have different tastes and hobbies, like how she likes yaoi while other people either do or don't, and that's okay.
  • Played for Drama: Alice has to hide her yaoi works and appreciation from her parents, or else they will punish her from engaging in so-called "gay propaganda".
  • Played for Horror: Alice's obsession of yaoi grows so much that she kidnaps all men nearby to sleep together, forces them to kiss and have sex with each other. If they refuse to do it, they will be severely tortured or even killed.
