Takama-ga-haranote is a Shonen manga series by Juuzou Kawai, which was serialized in Shonen Jump from July to November 2012.
It follows the adventures of Yamato Yamada, a seemingly ordinary student who is the third-oldest son of a clan of fighting experts. Other than his more than just Hot-Blooded brothers, however, he seeks a career as an aspiring mangaka. Yet due to strange powers awakening in him, it seems that fate holds a different path for Yamato.
Tropes appearing in this manga include:
- Afro Asskicker: Musashi
- Ax-Crazy: The self proclaimed Bully Hunter in Chapter 2.
- Badass Family: The Yamada clan.
- Bully Hunter: Chapter 2 has an outright evil version of this.
- Cultured Badass: Badass may be a little bit of a stretch, but Fukakyon studied calligraphy just to be able to write proper challenge letters.
- Cut Short: Due to poor ratings, the series ended shortly after the title school for superpowered teens was finally introduced. The final chapter has a Time Skip from the heroes learning the power structure of the school to them having triumphed and returning to save Yamato's Childhood Friend from an attacker and hint at what the overall plot would have been.
- Gender Bender: Yamato's Childhood Friend. It's supposedly just the tip of her powers.
- Hot-Blooded: Everyone in the Yamada family, but especially Musashi.
- Megaton Punch: Yamato is able to deliver them.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Fukayon's specialty. Not that it actually worked.
- Non-Standard Character Design: The bully hunter, as well as the ogre form of the second villain encountered. The bully hunter in particular has a radically different face from that seen on other characters.
- Ordinary Highschool Student: Who is able to punch a bully to the moon.
- Red Baron: Kumaso's nickname is Yatagarasu, The Three Legged Crow.
