Perfectly Princess is a Scholastic book series published in 2009-2010.

The books feature young girls in their Princess Phase, who go through an Age-Appropriate Angst problem and learn to overcome it.

The books are notable for being printed on colored paper that matched the main character's favorite color.

The books in the series include:

  • Pink Princess Rules the School
  • Purple Princess Wins the Prize
  • Green Princess Saves the Day
  • Orange Princess Has a Ball
  • Blue Princess Takes the Stage
  • Yellow Princess Gets a Pet

TV Princess Lists the Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: In Yellow Princess, Spencer repeatedly refers to Abby's kitten, named Lily, as Snowball. After Abby has to give Lily away due to her mom's allergies, Spencer adopts Lily and compromises by renaming her "Lily Snowball".
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Most of the princesses (notably Juliet the Pink Princess and Emma the Blue Princess) start out as brats. They grow out of it as the story progresses.
  • Floral Theme Naming: Abby's two pets in Yellow Princess are named after flowers. Case in point: a kitten named Lily, and a canary named Daisy. It isn't very strict, however, as Abby has to give Lily away to Spencer, who renames her "Lily Snowball", and Abby's dad adopts a dog named Rex.
  • Flower Motifs: Floral Theme Naming is used to represent Abby's control over her pet situation. When she has the pet all to herself, she will give them a name after a flower (Lily and Daisy). When someone else has the pet as well, they do not have a flower name (Lily Snowball and Rex).
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: Every book is called "(Color) Princess (verb)s the/a (noun)".
  • Kid Hero: The princesses are all children (Juliet is specifically stated to turn seven in her book).
  • Plot Allergy: Abby's mom is allergic to cats, which forces her to give up Lily to Spencer.
  • Product Placement: Blue Princess includes two cupcake recipes as a bonus, and both recipes use M&M's as ingredients.
  • Show Within a Show: Yellow Princess mentions a fictional cartoon called Princess Power.
  • Sick Episode: The last two chapters of Yellow Princess focus on Abby and her dad catching cold.
  • Token Minority: This series has one black princess and one Asian princess.
  • Two Girls and a Guy: In Yellow Princess: Emma, Jia, and Spencer.
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: Not necessarily "dark", but the topic of Orange Princess is a bit heavier than the other books, as it focuses on Kristina's struggle with her Korean heritage and not wanting to wear a traditional Korean dress her grandmother made to a party.
