Season One

    Adventures of a Normal Man
  • The sheer fact that Clark discovers his powers out of concern for the life of a woman who loses control of her car while driving. If that doesn't prove what kind of person he is, nothing does.
  • Poor kid Clark asking John and Martha Kent if he is not their son after discovering he is an alien. Their immediate response: "you will always be our son".
  • Clark and Lois heavily blushing and sharing an enraptured look when the former catches the latter from falling.
  • Lois sums up everything great about Superman in two sentences:
Lois: A man flew down from the sky and risked his life to save us. Not for a reward, or for fame, but just because we needed help.
  • When returning to the Kent farm, Clark tries to give a quick rundown of what he ended up doing in Metropolis and for a moment gets sidelined into gushing about Lois.
Clark: But they know someone rescued them, and now Lois—there's this girl, Lois, and, heh, she's amazing, but—but now she's calling him "Superman" and she wants to know more about him, and...I wanna know more about him, too.
  • When Clark goes back to his spaceship to get more answers about his origins, Martha worries about what might happen after he goes inside, afraid that whatever is in there could change him or hurt him. Later, Clark emerges from the ship wearing the iconic Superman costume for the first time while his eyes glow blue, but he quickly becomes his usual self, flying into his mother's arms and assuring her that he's alright.
Clark: Don't worry. I'm still me, Ma. I'm still your son.

    My Interview with Superman
  • After accidentally bumping into each other, Clark gives Lois some coffee he bought for her. Lois immediately notices that the coffee is from Waid's Cafe, which is her favorite coffee shop that's also located all the way on the other side of the city. While Clark tries to brush it off by saying he happened to jog past there, and it's implied that he simply used his Super-Speed to easily get to the cafe and back, it still shows how much he cares about other people by remembering where Lois' favorite cafe is and going out of his way to get something from there for her.
Lois: This is from Waid's Cafe!
Clark: You said it was your favorite. I happened to jog past.
Lois: That's clear across the city.
Clark: It was a long jog. Are you sure you're okay?
Lois: I am now, thanks to you.

Let's Go to Ivo Tower, You Say
  • Lois is fuming about Superman's non-answers from the previous episode, then flops against Clark's shoulder, causing him to blush. Clark suggests that maybe Superman is just wanting to help others. Lois sits back up, elbows Clark in the arms saying that's something he would probably do if he had those powers, then leans right back against him.
  • Clark loudly grilling Ivo about his company's criminal actions after he insults Lois.
  • After the situation with Dr. Ivo is sorted, Lois and Clark are sitting on the curb with Clark ruminating on what just happened and who might have stolen away the evidence. Lois calms him down with a quick peck on the cheek and commenting that she thinks it's cute to see him obsessing over a story. When Clark notices her shivering from the cold, he gives her his jacket, earning a more affectionate peck and Lois' Affectionate Nickname for him, "Smallville".

    My Adventures With Mad Science
  • Mallah and the Brain finally got their happy ending. Despite their roles as villains in the property they came from, they turn out to be legitimately friendly people in this continuity. There is no falling to despair, no Then Let Me Be Evil, to push them towards being like their comic book counterparts (though the Brain does punch Clark in the face one time). Their story simply ends with them leaving to explore the universe together.
  • Clark finally admits that he didn't tell his secret to Lois and Jimmy because he was scared they would only define him as an alien, not the friend he wants to be. Both of them immediately assure him that they're friends with Clark because of who he is, and that he can be open with them.
  • While exploring the island, Clark and Lois come across several traps. Eventually, they activate a laser turret and, without a moments hesitation, Clark puts himself in the path of the lasers in order to protect Lois. She asks him how he knew he was bulletproof. His response? "I didn't. I just knew that you weren't."
  • Jimmy really earns the title "Superman's Pal" here. Jimmy admits he knew there was something strange about Clark from the first day they met (Clark snapped their door handle in half) and immediately realized Clark is Superman. He didn't mention it because he realized Clark didn't want to talk about it; instead, he waited for Clark to mention it first. Not only did he keep Clark's secret through their entire time at college, but he completely fooled everyone at the Daily Planet into thinking he didn't know who Superman was, including Lois Lane. It's even feasible he purposely screwed up his first photos of Superman just to protect his secret. The conspiracy theorist gave up a once-in-a-lifetime scoop for his best friend.
  • At the end of the episode, the Brain offers Clark the chance to join him and Mallah in leaving Earth behind because he is "different, strange" and the world is not accepting of that. Clark decides to stay because he has to believe that the world can be a place where everyone is accepted, and he needs to help it get there with the people he loves. Clark stares straight at Lois as he says that last part... and then the two start holding hands.

    Kiss Kiss Fall In Portal
  • At the beginning of the episode, Clark brings Lois and Jimmy to see the spaceship buried at the Kent farm. While Jimmy geeks out over the alien technology, Lois asks Clark why he really brought them here. Taking Lois into a floating embrace, Clark answers that it's because there won't be any supervillains, robots or other weird distractions to interrupt him when he asks his question: "will you go on a date with me?" Lois' smile is the only answer he, or the audience, needs.
  • Lois and Clark reunite during the final battle between Mr. Mxyzptlk and the League of Lois Lanes and start apologizing to each other for the mess they made. When Lois expresses her insecurities about feeling inferior to her other alternate selves, Clark tells her that she's the only Lois for him. They soon get to complimenting the other on how amazing they are, culminating in their first real kiss.
  • When the trio return to their reality, Clark apologizes to Lois that their date plans were ruined. Lois simply gives him another kiss, and proposes that they go out for coffee.
  • The final scene of Lois returning to her apartment. No words are needed to know how her coffee date with Clark went; she just hums happily to herself, ending with a twirl before flopping face-down on her couch like a smitten schoolgirl. And then she activates the file she took from the League of Lois Lanes base...

    Zero Day, Part 1
  • While still conflicted over the revelation from the last episode, Lois goes into the Daily Planet's morgue, discovering that Clark left her a veritable truckload of flowers in celebration of their one week anniversary.
  • Lois fangirling over meeting her idol Vicki Vale is nothing short of adorable. Too bad Vale ends up falling far short of Lois' expectations.
  • Overwhelmed though he may be by his new super-hearing, Superman still takes time out of his day to comfort a lost little girl and use his new hearing to help her find her moms.
  • Superman does not hesitate for a second to save Mist's life and is very cordial with him despite that the criminal had previously been his enemy. Although the ends up being a trap, he immediately agrees to help Mist save his sister and best friend even with no benefit to himself.
  • In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it detail, the video of Superman titled "Superman Has Lost It!!" after he unintentionally caused a traffic accident has almost as many dislikes as likes. While it may appear at first glance that the city has turned on Superman, there are still plenty of people defending him.

    Zero Day, Part 2
  • When Lois and Jimmy are having trouble trying to find Superman, the Newskid Legion arrives to help them. When Lois tells them it's too dangerous and they should go home, Flip explains that when she thinks about helping Superman, like how he helped her, she doesn't feel so small. Lois, touched by her words, hugs her and agrees to allow them to help.
  • Despite The Brain's description of him, the General proves he's a Reasonable Authority Figure as he quickly catches on that Superman really doesn't know anything about the Zero Day incident. Further, he absolutely refuses to allow Ivo to get a hold of him as it he knows the insane scientist will be more interested torturing the prisoner for amusement than for intelligence.
  • Lois is able to get through to Clark during his Despair Event Horizon, after the General's interrogation convinces him that he's just a living weapon. Whether or not that's actually true, she refuses to believe Clark is really meant for destruction.
Clark: I saw my spaceship come through with an armada! And it makes sense, why else would I be able to shoot fire from my eyes, to rip apart steel? I'm… made for destruction. (voice breaks) The Earth's better off without me.
    Lois: (grabs Clark's shoulders) No. I won't accept that! You're not a weapon, you're a person.
  • While the Parasite is wrecking Superman, Lois and Jimmy use his Flamebird account to call Metropolis to action to save Superman (via a purposeful citywide blackout to starve Parasite), and despite everything else, Metropolis answers.
    • Over the past two episodes, Jimmy's Flamebird audience has skyrocketed from five people to five million. Once he realizes Clark is in trouble and running himself ragged, he focuses entirely on using his newfound reach to help Clark. His best friend is more important than his fame.
    • Through the past few episodes, Clark's Super-Hearing has been more of a problem than a blessing. This episode, it lets him hear the citizens of Metropolis rallying to help him, reigniting his faith in himself and his determination to be their protector.
  • Clark reuniting with Lois and Jimmy on the rooftop, with Jimmy proving why he's Superman's Pal and Lois finally telling Clark that she loves him and sharing a kiss with him in the air.
Lois: The world is better with you in it. My world is better with you in it.
  • While she does manipulate Ivo to escape, it's nice of Livewire to also take the time to spring Heat Wave, Rough House, Mist, and Silver Banshee while staging her break-out. Heat Wave even returns the favor by shielding her from laser-fire during their fight with security.

    Hearts of the Fathers
  • The fact that Lois, Clark, and Jimmy headlined their first front-page article, about Superman's greatest triumph so far, “Metropolis saves Superman.”
  • Clark asks Jimmy and Lois for help finding The General. Why? Because the Kryptonians are a threat to Earth and he's the only one who has any answers about them. Clark is willing to seek out and talk to the man who's hunted him all season if it'll help keep Earth safe.
  • Martha thanking Lois for sticking by Clark’s side, since Clark has kept himself at a distance from others even since his powers manifested out of fear of hurting someone.
  • This brief exchange between Clark and his Pa shows who Clark got his loving nature from:
Clark: What would you do if you met an enemy?
Jonathan: Try to make him a friend?
  • The moment Clark's ship starts summoning an invasion force, the General immediately tells Clark's family what's happening (classified info be damned) and orders them to flee.
    • Similarly, the moment he sees his daughter Lois is still in the area, he starts talking more than he has during his entire visit to the Kent family farm in a desperate attempt to convince her to run.
  • The hologram of Jor-El putting the dying Superman in an escape pod, saving him from the self-destructing ship.
    Jor-El: Kal-El, my son… live.
  • General Lane has Superman in his sights, ready to shoot. Lois leaps into his path, demands he listens, tells him off for trying to kill Superman when he just saved the world, and begs her father to spare him. The General not only puts down his gun, but outright lies to his superiors. They may have a rocky relationship, but that was when General Lane proved he does love his daughter more than his obsession with vengeance against Nemesis Omega.
