While the world may have gone to hell in a hand basket, the occasional glimmer of hope can appear in the form of little moments comedy that can help lighten the mood of the horrifying state of the world.

  • The intro to the game has the Academic greet his protege by bursting down their door into splinters. The man doesn't even bother to knock.
    • Made more hilarious by the fact that the scholar apparently never gets around to fixing said door for the rest of the game.
  • The Ladies of the Foetor will make sure to, after every attack, clean the teeth of their Belly Mouth with a rag, complete with a visible sparkle.
  • The Drummers of the Lost Battalion wear the same type of Cool Helmet that the Foot Soldiers do, complete with a visor. Despite being dead and eyeless, they still feel the need to lift them up in order to look around.
  • One of the game's unlockables is pets, specifically juvenile versions of enemies from the first game and its DLC's. Ever wanted a pet Carrion Devourer or Crocodilian?
    • Absolutely the best of the bunch is the Shambler's Spawn. That's right, a spawn of the stalking horror that plagues the nightmares of those who've stumbled upon it, both character and player alike. That One Boss, destroyer of many a run, the reason mankind fears the darkness now available in an adorably pint-sized package.
  • Entering the Vestal's Secret inn with the Vestal in your party will elicit this response:
The Vestal: What a *ahem* curious name for an inn...
  • Giving the heroes inn-items can often elicit some humorous comment out of them:
    • Giving the pipeweed item to the Plague Doctor. While the other characters simply make a comment about smoking the thing, the poor Plague Doctor violently hacks and coughs, implying a poor reaction to what is likely her first smoke.
      • She also seems unable to handle her alcohol, as her reaction to most of the drink-based items is to complain about how badly it burns.
Plague Doctor: Isn't this a disinfectant?
    • The Plague Doctor, despite her intellect, is not good at playing cards.
Plague Doctor: One... Three... Seven... which means the odds are—what!?
    • She's also a bit of a Covert Pervert like the Vestal, as shown when given a Book of Bawdy Tales:
The Runaway: Wait, is THAT how you pronounce it...?
    • Giving the Vestal the Candles and Chocolate results in her commenting on how lonely the journey is, followed by her getting flustered and clearing her throat.
      • Her reaction to the Book of Creative Insults is a shocked "They call it a what?! I could never.".
    • Several characters' reactions to the Highwayman's Morbid Joke, ranging from confusion to amusement to Dude, Not Funny!
    The Vestal: Who raised you!?
    • The Highwayman's reaction to the Unique Reliquary (the Crusader's inn item) has him give an exasperated "Oh, here we go again..."
  • There is also the Man-at-Arms' Improvised Strategy, implied to him be teaching his old tricks to his companions. Some of them are not quick learners:
The Jester: Ah, forethought, my old nemesis.
The Grave Robber: (yawns) 'Course I'm listening.
The Hellion: Too much talking.
  • The Griddle is one of the few items in the game with a quote attached to it. These are usually quotes from the Academic or the Heroes, as melancholic or dramatic as any other line, but the Griddle is funny in how matter of fact it is:
    "Everyone likes flapjacks."
  • One of the Quirks a hero can get from the Sealed Doorway curio in the Academic's Study is "Head Injury", implying that they tried to headbutt it open. Now bear in mind that it can be gotten by anyone from the Man-At-Arms to the Occultist to the Grave Robber.
