Citizens

The general tropes that are associated with this faction are:

  • Underground Railroad: Citizens who side with the Vigilantes more often than not provide safe haven for them.

Vigilantes

The general tropes that are associated with this faction are:

  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Many would argue some Vigilantes have honorable reasons for doing what they do... but the manner of execution leaves something to be desired.

    Ellie Waters

Played by Donut

A bodyguard by day, a thief and murderer by night. Originally born into the High Class, her childhood saw her constantly picked apart by her parents, who wanted her to be their perfect legacy. Despite continually disappointing them, Ellie still had a lot of potential— potential that she pretty much threw away by completely bombing the Test on purpose when she turned 16. Now she's a Low Class grunt with dreams of revolution.

The tropes that are associated with this character are:

  • Doesn't Like Guns: Mostly because she's crap at using them.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: She may spend a lot of time threatening, belittling, and shaking her friends, but she won't hesitate to beat someone down for looking at them wrong.
  • Morality Chain: Levenin keeps her from completely losing herself to her work. Her sister later joins him in the role.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Her justification for some of the less savory things she does in the name of Vigilantism.

    Levenin Refure

Played by Nama

An amateur doctor that spends most of his time in the Slums, where he treats people as part of a humble clinic. He once used to live in the High Class with access to the best medical education in Novus, but voluntarily fell down to the Lower Class to keep from being separated from his girlfriend. Though he heals by day, by night Lev is a thief under the association of the Vigilantes. He plays at being Robin Hood, his thievery often serving as a means to gather supplies that would normally be impossible to obtain for poor Slum dwellers. On rare occasions, he'll use his talents with poison-brewing and knife-wielding to carry out assassinations in further pursuit of his goals.

Shy and meek, Levenin would be content to drift through life as low-key as possible, if not for his fateful meeting with Ellie Waters. He always puts others before himself, usually to his own detriment. He's typically kind-hearted, but that belies an unstable side to his personality that is constantly boiling underneath the surface. In a world where uncertainty is punished, Levenin really doesn't know where he stands and questions himself at every turn.

The tropes that are associated with this character are:

  • Back-Alley Doctor: Levenin never obtained his medical degree, though he works in legitimate conditions most of the time.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Nineveh" (also functions as a codename) and "The Witch" in the media.

Secret Police

    Elgen Galbraith

Played by Nama

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elgencharacterpage.png
Legally Elgen Mac a' Bhreatannaich— and don't you forget it.
A foreigner to Novus of vague Irish origin, Elgen has no interest in people whatsoever... unless they're his targets. He's completely dedicated to his job as a field investigator, though not for any noble reasons. The protection of the city takes a backseat to his dreams of throwing around his power as he pleases. He was quite the hothead (even more so) in his youth but the prospect of being chosen for the elite Secret Police was pretty much the only reason he stayed on the straight and narrow until his acceptance. Elgen isn't a stranger to bending the rules for his own benefit— or entertainment.

But beneath the ego is a man full of quips and sarcasm with a rare sense of humor, along with pride in his roots. One can't say he isn't ambitious in his goals or in seeking constant self-improvement.

The tropes that are associated with this character are:

  • Brave Scot: Not only does he have a noticeable accent, Elgen prefers to solve everything with violence if possible.
  • Fantastic Racism: Mostly classism. Elgen has a particular attidude towards those lower on the Novian social rungs.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Edinburgh, his pride and joy, is a two-handed axe that can change form into a rifle. The rifle side is powered by charge and can dish out up to 8 bullets on a full battery. He can only be in one mode at a time.
