Main Characters
Kipper
Kipper
- All-Loving Hero: He is one of the friendliest characters in the series, and will go out of his way to help anyone in need, no matter who they are.
- Cheated Angle: Kipper has a huge forehead when seen from the front, but his forehead shrinks when he turns to the side.
- Exploding Closet: In more than a few episodes, his closet tends to spill everything when he opens it. Deconstructed in "The Jumble Sale", where it's revealed that he doesn't really need most of the stuff in it.
- Heroic Dog: In "Kipper the Hero", he ends up becoming one when he saves Jake's cat Mittens.
- Vocal Evolution: Kipper's voice gradually became higher-pitched as the series went on.
Tiger
Tiger
- Annoying Patient: In "Tiger's Cold", Tiger has a cold and Kipper takes care of him. It turns out Tiger was faking it the whole time.
- Butt-Monkey: Out of all the characters, he tends to be on the short end of the stick the most.
- A Dog Named "Cat": Tiger is a Scottish terrier, not a tiger.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He isn't nice most of the time, but he does have his moments of kindness.
- Soda Can Shakeup: At the end of "The Picnic", when Pig and Arnold ate up his and Kipper's remaining picnic food, Tiger got even by shaking up a can and offering it to Pig.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Tiger is afraid of water, so he tries to avoid going swimming whenever he can.
Pig
Pig
- Big Eater:In certain episodes, such as "Clay Time" and "The Fair," food is his primary motivation. Deconstructed in "Pig's Shop" when he gets a stomachache from eating too much candy.
- Didn't Think This Through: In "Pig's Shop", rather than let the customers taste the candy, he instead eats the candy and gives a description of what each one tastes like. However, Jake is unable to decide which candy he wants and asks for Pig to try each candy several times, resulting in Pig getting a stomachache.
- A Dog Named "Dog": He's a pig named "Pig".
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be short tempered, but he cares a lot for Arnold.
Arnold
Arnold
Pig’s little cousin.- Cheerful Child: He's very much excitable. In "Looking After Arnold", he manages to tire out Kipper instead of the other way around.
- Cute Mute: He rarely speaks, but is the most adorable character in the show.
- Instant Expert: In "Arnold on Wheels", he's able to ride Kipper's old bike pretty much right away, and by the end of the episode he can ride without training wheels!
- The Speechless: Apart from two words, he hardly ever says anything. Justified as he is a toddler.
Jake
Jake
A giant yet gentle dog, who is one of Kipper’s friends.- Big Friendly Dog: Jake is a huge sheepdog, and is good friends with the others.
- Big Fun: Jake is very easy going, and likes to spend time with his friends.
- Gentle Giant: Jake is the tallest character in the show and also one of the friendliest.

She lives in Kipper’s house.- A Dog Named "Dog": She is a mouse named "Mouse".
- Nice Mice: She is pretty civil to Kipper, and generally doesn't cause trouble.
The Bleepers
The Bleepers
Two aliens that came from the Moon.- Alien Episode: "The Bleepers", their debut episode, involves them landing on Kipper's world.
- Laser-Guided Karma: When they first meet Kipper, they make fun of his appearance. Almost immediately after, one of them knocks their ship upside down, preventing them from leaving.
- Living Mood Ring: They turn red when they're sad and green when they're sick.
- Tripod Terror: Their spaceship is designed after one of these.
