Momo (墨墨奇游记) is a Chinese-Dutch preschool animated series that premiered on the iQIYI streaming platform in 2022. It entails the adventures of Momo the young dumbo octopus and her hesitant father at an aquarium, within and outside their underwater exhibit home.

It is produced by iQIYI, Ka-Ching Cartoons, and Feitong Cartoon.

The show has 32 five-minute-long episodes, while the second season is in the pipeline. The English version has no conventional release in the English-speaking world, but English episodes are available through the Bejuba Entertainment catalog and iQIYI (with possible geographic restrictions).

Momo provides examples of:

  • Artistic License – Marine Biology: Momo and her father can survive long periods outside of water. Real octopuses typically survive up to half an hour.
  • Bully Hunter: In episode 5, a troublesome boy annoys the sea creatures' class by banging the glass and flashing with his camera. Realizing that taunting him by painting ink on the glass isn't enough, Momo shoots a bucketful of ink at him from above to repel him at last. Although this is at odds with her teacher's concurrent lecture on the importance of kindness.
  • Daddy's Girl: The show's emotional core revolves the close relationship between a cautious father and his open-minded daughter no matter how divergent their values are.
  • Dance Party Ending: In "All About Shark", Momo's new shark friend Finn throws a dance party to the class to support Momo's answer to her teacher on why sharks swing their tails.
  • Growling Gut: In episode 4, a hungry piranha gives off a deep, loud noise that vibrates his surroundings. At the conclusion of the episode, Momo also demonstrates this.
  • Foreshadowing: Momo's father warns his daughter that if her teacher were to see her deserted from school, she would remind her to immerse into school or she'll flush her future down the drain. Momo curiously leaves the underwater exhibit and ultimately gets flushed down by an unwitting janitor.
  • Funny Octopus: The duo are peculiar wonderers of the non-animal zones of the aquarium. They can write words with their own ink. In addition, their being stranded at a gift shop led them to throw stuffed animals at each other and consume human food.
  • Locked in a Room: "Night at the Gift Shop" is, as implied in the title, where the duo become stranded in the aquarium's gift shop. Momo makes it her playground while her father remains worrisome and discourages her from eating human food, although he eventually becomes more accepting of her activities.
  • Market-Based Title: The show's Chinese name can be translated as "Momo's Travels", but its English name simplifies it to "Momo".
  • One-Word Title: The one word in the show's title is the name of the protagonist, Momo.
  • Parent-Child Team: Momo and her father, who for instance tried to construct a garden together in "Crabby Daddy".
  • Plot Hole: In "All About Shark", it's never explained or depicted how Finn traveled to Momo's underwater exhibit from his domain.
  • Staircase Tumble: In episode 4, Momo's hungry piranha friend, who is inside a water-filled bag, gets dropped onto a spiral staircase and tumbles down uncontrollably.
  • Threatening Shark: Subverted in "All About Shark". Momo visits the new shark exhibit and comes across a den. A shark chases Momo out of the dark until he corners her and reveals he is happy to have a guest at the party he had been celebrating alone.
  • Toilet Teleportation: In the first episode "All Roads To School", Momo gets accidentally flushed in a toilet by a janitor and ends up in the sewer. Her father observes the flush with distraught, although he flushes himself reluctantly to catch up.
  • Two Shorts: Each episode is five minutes long, with any potential broadcaster having the option to combine two episodes into an eleven-minute segment.
