Alternative Character Interpretation / GoAnimate

Go To

Due to so many different GoAnimate Grounded video series that have been made with the same characters, Alternative Character Interpretation is bound to happen.

  • Caillou was commonly depicted by African Vulture as a spoiled brat with a borderline sociopathic obsession with Chuck E. Cheese's. Issac Anderson then took Caillou's (and his father's) more psychotic tendencies and cranked them up to insane heights.
  • Caillou's Dad/Boris (and sometimes other parents characters as well, but especially him) is subject to being portrayed as a Psycho for Hire by multiple users, in particular the already mentionedOfficerPoop247. This video from BrandaBob is the best example of this, where Boris is distilled into a masochistic torturer with an insatiable need to ground and irrational hatred for anything Chuck E. Cheese's, while trying to influence future parents into his grounding style.
  • Issac Anderson's "Caillou Gets Grounded: The Movie" sheds some light on Boris's character. Is he truly a monstrous abuser, or is he merely being controlled by his much more abusive wife?note
  • Some video makers feature a variant of Boris named Boris the Teeth Guy (sometimes also known as Evil Boris or Red Boris), a version of Boris colored red and with his mouth enlarged 400% who has No Indoor Voice, a Jerkass, and drops profanities and racial slurs at the top of the hat. He's usually either a separate character or an alternate form of Boris.
  • Rosie is usually a victim of Caillou's shenanigans, but she is sometimes turned into something akin to a psychopath. Creators such as Venomous Soup and RareYellowWUUTBee present Rosie as being just as bad (if not even worse) than Caillou himself. Rosie has a heavy Never My Fault attitude, seems to be anti-establishment (any establishment) and is willing to murder her family if it means getting her way.
  • Arthur is frequently depicted by the user Matt TheGoAnimator as a foul-mouthed Jerkass with a nasty temper who is the Spoiled Brat of the Read family rather than D.W. (who is a total Girl Scout compared to him).
  • For the grounded videos as a whole, it's easy to interpret Caillou, Dora, and other trouble-making kids as an ensemble of Jerkass Woobies who simply act out because of the abuse from their bullying families and peers.
  • Is Macusoper a short-tempered Butt-Monkey whose misdoings are caused (and fueled further) by the actions of his peers and his father Diesel, who all treat him like a social outcast, or he is a complete Jerkass with a Hair-Trigger Temper worthy of his punishments?
  • Fred, of all characters, in samster5677's Scooby-Doo videos is portrayed as an egotistical, abusive, and violent jerkass with a Hair-Trigger Temper who constantly treats his friends like dirt, commits crimes without punishment, repeatedly talks so loud his voice clips, and makes cheap and unfunny fourth-wall jokes. However, running with this trope, is Fred really this kind of person because of how he is or has Fred devolved into this madman due to Shaggy and Scooby's gluttony and Daphne's airheadedness?
  • In this video, Caillou pulls out a lightsaber and runs up to his teacher intending to kill her. He is stopped when one of the other students pulls out a gun on him. While you could make the argument that he was merely protecting the teacher, he did not know that Caillou would do this. It leaves the question as to why he brought the weapon to school in the first place.
