Recap My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic S 2 E 4 Luna Eclipsed Discussion
I felt that Pinkie Pie was more of a bitch to Luna in this episode. She reminds you of that jerkass kid at your school who tries to prevent someone from having friends, causing the individual to be lonely.
This needs a re-write. What is being foreshadowed? What is the callback to? Probably better to leave foreshadowing out of it: that emphasizes past->future whereas this is future->past, and often more of a gag than a dramatic device.

- More of a foreshadowing, but at the beginning of the episode Twilight scolds Spike about not recognizing her costume, asking "Did you even read that book I gave you on obscure Pony history?". Later in Secret of My Excess, Spike remarks that Twilight always gives him books for his birthday.
People need to stop adding The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou as a shout-out. It doesn't bear close scrutiny.
First off the episode has a standard navy/black beanie NOT an orange one like the entry I deleted. Second the Steve Zissou is after a "Jaguar" shark which well is Exactly What It Says On The Tin and this doesn't match the flank-munching normal shark of the episode. Third it much more closely matches Matt Hooper's/Richard Dreyfuss'

Comparisons have been made between Luna's chariot and Tirac's chariot (visible HERE starting at around 18:45). Now I am not QUITE seeing it as being THAT similar myself, but I guess it could count as a reference/allusion/whatever.

Does Luna's speech actually count as Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe? That's for when it is actually butchered, yes? So wouldn't it just be Antiquated Linguistics in her case?

(The chicken costume isn't really a visual pun, because visual puns are more obvious. The example of "combing" the desert with a giant comb. You don't get that Pinkie Pie is "chicken" until you think about it. In my case, for a whole day. :P )

Does anyone know exactly what the haters hate about Pipsqueak? I've been seeing the occasional hate comments inbetween reading the love ones, but the only time anyone has said anything about why they hated him, their reasons seemed to be that he was British sounding and dressed like a pirate. :-/

Luna's characterization seemed... overdone. I suppose it makes sense, seeing as she was a very melodramatic villain and is newly redeemed, but she's not much like the humbled glimpse of her we caught at the end of the second episode.
Oh, who am I kidding? I'm mad because my fan fiction is now moot. :P
It seems to me a little strange that the ponies are holding a Nightmare Night celebration as usual, to try to keep the "evil" Nightmare Moon at bay, even though they know that Nightmare Moon has been redeemed and is no longer evil. You'd think someone would have realized that Princess Luna is on earth now and nothing is keeping her from showing up to see what all the fuss is about. It's almost like they Didnt Think This Through.
The page image should probably be of Luna as she actually is instead of the form she took during her little prank at the end.

I'm thinking we may want to add a Broken Base averted onto here. The Internet Backdraft a lot of people expected over Luna's characterization doesn't seem to have occurred yet. Is it too early to call it averted?

I'm new to this site, I was wondering would the Twilight/Pinkie alley scene "No screaming no shreiking" a strong enough case for Rape as Comedy? Or is it a different trope all together?

A guy on 4Chan has released an image of Luna wearing Zecora's hooded cloak and smiling deviously. This has caused Luna's fans to explode, but for a different reason. They've gone to pieces that their idol will turn evil again! They ignore the fact that this could be an Imagine Spot and the glaring possibility that the guy could have faked the picture. I've seen it myself and personally think that it looks a bit phony. Any opinions?
