The XBs were right when they thought that the Gifted could pose a threat and therefore needed to be destroyed, because it turns out that Dia and Auric's great-grandmother, an Arcane being of unimaginable power, was one of the beings behind the Gifted so that they and the Arcane beings could take over and rule the planet with the Terrans as soulfood.
