Strong Family Resemblance in Video Games.

  • In AI: The Somnium Files, it's later revealed that the pink-haired corpse seen in various Somniums isn't actually Iris, but her real mother who looks exactly like her.
  • ANNO: Mutationem: In the Mysterious Console DLC, Noni has a family picture in her bedroom, promptly showing that she greatly resembles her mother standing besides her. It later turns out she's a virtual copy of the real Noni who died to chronic illness and was created by her parents to fully resemble the original.
  • In what is part this trope and part Uncanny Family Resemblance, in Back to the Future: The Game, Marty runs into his grandfather, Artie McFly, who looks and sounds just like George McFly (both being based on Crispin Glover's performance in the film). Artie's father, William, is once again played by Michael J. Fox, who had previously portrayed him in a photo shown in the third film (even though Marty himself is actually voiced by AJ LoCascio). This leads one to believe that if the pattern continues, since Marty's son will end up looking like Michael J. Fox, his grandson and great-grandson will look like Crispin Glover, and so on. Also, Kid Tannen is basically just Biff with a moustache and zoot suit.
  • Bayonetta is implied to look exactly like her mother, down to her outfit of choice. This causes Bayonetta's time-displaced child self, Cereza, to mistake her for her own mother. When we finally see Bayonetta's mother, Rosa, in the second game, she looks exactly like Bayonetta, down to the hair style. This is why Cereza called her "Mummy" in the first game.
  • In the second headhunter pack for Borderlands 2, it turns out that the tall and extremely muscular Mr. Torgue gets his looks from his grandmother.
  • Bubble Bobble series: Some characters in Bubble Symphony, as seen in its intro, look the same as those in Rainbow Islands and Parasol Stars with different hair colors, as if it wasn't confusing enough.
  • Chrono Cross:
    • Serge looks like a younger version of his father Wazuki.
    • Brothers Dario and Glenn both have blond hair and blue eyes.
    • Deuteragonist Kid bears a strong resemblance to her clone-mother, Schala.
  • In the Devil May Cry series, Sparda, Dante, Vergil and Nero have recurring physical traits that run in the family, such as white hair and blue eyes. Dante and Vergil are identical twins as well, at least in the early games; in Devil May Cry 5, they no longer share the same face models. Oftentimes, the characters also remark on the resemblance between the younger generation and the older one, such as in the Deadly Fortune novel of Devil May Cry 4 when Dante notes that Nero has the same look in his eyes as Vergil did.
  • Dragon Age has this in a few places.
    • Alistair of Dragon Age: Origins has a face very similar to that of his half-brother Cailan. Depending on how the player opts to resolve the country's Succession Crisis, this may be lampshaded by Anora, who is uncomfortable with the idea of marrying Alistair, because he looks so much like her dead husband. And, if the cover of The Stolen Throne book is a hint, they both resemble their father Maric. While not shown, NPC dialogue implies that the City Elf Warden bears a great resemblance to their mother Adaia. In the Human Noble Origin, big brother Fergus looks a good deal like father Bryce.
    • In Dragon Age II, the default designs of Hawke's younger twin siblings are shown to greatly take after their mother's side of the family. Bethany's facial structure is very much like that of their mother Leandra; Carver's closely resembles that of their maternal uncle Gamlen, who himself takes a great deal after his father Aristide. It's also stated that Hawke him/herself very closely resembles their deceased father Malcolm, both in looks and personality.
    • In Dragon Age: Inquisition, if Morrigan has a son from either Alistair, Loghain, or the Warden, he looks a lot like his mother. Morrigan herself also has a strong resemblance to her own mother Flemeth, particularly with regard to their yellowish eyes.
  • Dragon Quest:
    • Dragon Quest: Underneath his helmet, the Hero's near-identical to his famed ancestor, Erdrick from Dragon Quest III, save only for being blonde and his hair being of a slightly-different style. He even wears the same kind of circlet.
    • Dragon Quest V: The hero's sons Parry and Madchen are compared to their father more than their mother. Parry's happy with this; Madchen is more disappointed that she isn't told she resembles her mother more often.
    • Dragon Quest VIII:
      • The Hero resembles closely his father, which is immediately noticed by his paternal uncle, the king of Argonia.
      • Princess Medea and her mother look almost exactly alike.
    • Dragon Quest XI: A teacher at the L'Academie de Notre Maitre les Medailles describes Jade's mother in very similar terms to Jade herself.
  • Fallout 4: A downplayed example given the limitations of the game engine, but Father aka Shaun can take on characteristics of the Player Character added through Character Customization, such as their skin color or the shape of their face.
  • Final Fantasy:
    • Final Fantasy VII:
      • Sephiroth takes strongly after his "mother", Jenova: Both have platinum hair and giant, scythe-shaped forelocks. Somewhat inverted, as Sephiroth was mistaken about being descended from the Cetra. Not only is Jenova his genetic donor, not his actual mother (Lucrecia was the surrogate), Jenova is a mimetic creature who took on the shape of the Cetra to destroy them. That being said, Sephiroth still strongly resembles Lucrecia and can quite easily be seen as a white-haired, male version of his birth mother. If that wasn't enough, Dirge of Cerberus updated Lucrecia's design so that she has bangs over her left eye, mirroring Sephiroth as he appears in Tetsuya Nomura's original artwork.
      • The same goes for Sephiroth's father, Professor Hojo, who also sports long hair with antennae (at least in his PSX incarnation).
      • In the remake, Cloud's mother looks almost exactly like her own son, complete with feathered hair and even a similar sounding name (Claudia).
      • Also Aerith after grown-up looks just like her mother. Lampshaded by Hojo after capturing her in the remake.
      • In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Zack Fair's father looks almost exactly like him except for having grey hair. Aerith was able to tell he was Zack's father with one look.
    • Final Fantasy VIII: Most of Squall's physical traits are from his mother. The same goes for Rinoa too. Where she gets her physical traits from her mother.
    • Final Fantasy X: Tetsuya Nomura has drawn him and Yuna post X-2, and Tidus does begin to look more like his old man, complete with a red bandana.
    • Final Fantasy XII: Brothers Reks and Vaan have a similar facial structure.
    • Final Fantasy XV: Not so obvious at the beginning of the game, but post-timeskip Noctis greatly resembles a younger version of his father Regis.
      • With the release of the Episode Ardyn trailer, pre-timeskip Noctis also takes after Ardyn's brother Somnus.
      • Also Prompto looks like Verstael in his younger years. Due to being made using Verstael's DNA.
  • Fire Emblem:
    • Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade and its prequel Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade:
      • Roy from The Binding Blade and the teenage version of his father Eliwood from The Blazing Blade look strikingly similar to the point of being nearly identical. It doesn't help that they even wear similar clothes, and it takes looking up their full artwork to see any significant difference between them. Pretty much the biggest difference is that Eliwood was taller, thinner, and wore longer sleeves, none of which can be easily gleaned from in-game appearances.
      • Eliwood also looks quite a bit like his own dad Elbert. The older Eliwood seen in The Binding Blade (and The Blazing Blade's ending) looks almost exactly like Elbert, the biggest difference being that Elbert had a mustache while Eliwood is clean-shaven. It's even acknowledged by Nils in The Blazing Blade, who says that he'd heard Elbert had a son, and immediately realized it must be Eliwood due to their similar appearances.
      • Similarly, Sue the Horse Archer from The Binding Blade is basically a gender flipped version of her father Rath from The Blazing Blade. And sharp-eyed players will notice that she also looks a lot like Lyndis, who got a potential ending with Rath in the The Blazing Blade...
      • Interestingly played with in the case of Roy's best friend Wolt... whose design, first seen in The Binding Blade, actually served as the basis for the three guys that his mother Rebecca can marry in The Blazing Blade. Looking at his in-game appearance and checking on his dialogue, the boy has the haircut and fighting style of Wil, the hair color and personality of Lowen, and the eyes and facial structure of Sain.
    • Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and its sequel Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn also have this with Ike, Mist, and Soren. Ike and Mist both resemble their same-sex parent while inheriting the opposite-sex parent's hair color. For his part, Soren looks like a younger, male version of his mother Almedha from Radiant Dawn, and even in Path of Radiance, it was already obvious that Soren had a very strong resemblance to Kurthnaga, the prince of Goldoa, and Rajaion, Ena's fiancé, both of whom were revealed in the next game to be Soren's maternal uncles. Meg has the same build and brown hair as her father Brom as well.
    • In Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, Ares and his father Eldigan may as well be identical twins wearing different armor. Likewise, a shorter hairstyle is the only noticeable difference between Larcei and her mother Ayra, while Ulster is basically a genderflipped and shorthaired Ayra. Even more so, the grown-up Prince Shannan looks disturbingly like his Disappeared Dad, Ayra's older brother Prince Mariccle. Several other characters also have an uncanny resemblance to the legendary Crusaders that they descended from.
    • In Fire Emblem: Awakening, Princess Lucina basically looks like a genderflipped, long-haired version of her father Chrom, no matter who her mother is. Similarly, out of Lucina's prospective siblings, Olivia's son Inigo and Sully's daughter Kjelle will physically resemble Chrom the most. Additionally, Laurent also looks a LOT like his mother Miriel (save for the hair color), and while Morgan doesn't necessarily look super similar to his/her parent Robin, if the player chooses the youngest build for Robin and gives them short Messy Hair, Morgan will look like a borderline clone of Robin him/herself. Additionally, a female!Morgan mothered by Sumia looks basically like a younger, short-haired, more tomboyish Sumia.
    • In Fire Emblem Fates, quite a few characters have this going on:
      • Prince Ryoma of Hoshido is basically a younger "clone" of his late father King Sumeragi, sans beard and with lighter hair. In Fire Emblem Warriors, when Ryoma promotes from Swordmaster to High Prince, the combination between his normal looks and the newly evolved armor he gains makes the similarity between father and son almost disturbingly close.
      • According to Elise's nanny Cassita, the daughter of the deceased Queen Arete of Nohr looks almost exactly like her. The daughter turns out to be Azura, and in the Revelation path Arete appears as a Brainwashed and Crazy opponent and their similarity is confirmed.
      • The Avatar (by default) looks very similar to their mother, Mikoto, only with white hair. If one keeps the same face structure, changes their hair to black and gives them the same beauty mark, the resemblance is even more obvious.
      • And with the children: Azura's son Shigure looks very much like her, just with short hair; Soleil and Caeldori are basically Gender Flips of their fathers, Laslow and Subaki, respectively, right down to the personality. Also, should Caeldori be Selena's daughter, the resemblance between the two is uncanny as well as Caeldori being an Identical Granddaughter to Cordelia; Siegbert looks like a teenage version of his father, Xander, especially if he has blond hair; Forrest takes his father Leo's Pretty Boy traits up to eleven; and Kiragi looks like a younger version of Takumi, just without the Samurai Ponytail.
      • The Cipher cards reveal that, when the monstrous-looking King Garon was much younger, he looked almost exactly like his gorgeous eldest son, the aforementioned Xander.
      • Out of all the siblings on either side, Xander and Leo have the most resemblance.
    • Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia:
    • In Fire Emblem Warriors, Princess Lianna looks like a younger "clone" of her and Prince Rowan's mother, Queen Yelena.
    • Fire Emblem: Three Houses:
      • The "Cindered Shadows" DLC reveals that both male and female Byleth look very similar to their mother Sitri outside of having blue instead of green hair, with female Byleth in particular looking like a near-clone.
      • Once you look past their lack of facial hair, Dimitri and Felix have very similar facial structures to their fathers Lambert and Rodrigue.
    • Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes also shows that Lambert's brother Rufus looks extremely similar to him, and Count Gloucester is basically just an older version of his son, Lorenz. The Almyran prince Shahid also looks a lot like his younger brother, Claude/Khalid, just with slightly narrower eyes.
  • Golden Sun:
    • Isaac is the hero of the first Golden Sun. Matthew, his son and the hero of the DS sequel Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, which takes place thirty years later. "Spitting image" doesn't begin to cover it; fans initially assumed Matthew was a redesign. Hilariously, the one character in Dark Dawn who comments on Matthew having a resemblance to a relative compares him to his mother (Briggs never met Isaac).
    • This is also present to a lesser extent with Garet and Tyrell, another father-son pair. Garet himself looks nearly identical to how his own father did in the original games.
    • Also, Alex and his bastard son Amiti. Noted by NPCs enough times that by the end of the game, the only person who doesn't seem to realize this is Amiti himself... and even he's starting to catch on, if you read his mind right after the final battle.
    • While it's not as extreme as Matthew or even Tyrell, both of Mia's children bear a strong resemblance to her. This led to some confusion with her son. Notably, Rief also resembles Amiti, to the point that Tret initially mistook them for brothers; Alex is Mia's cousin, making Rief and Amiti second cousins..
    • Not a physical similarity, but Eoleo seems to share his elemental affinity, snarky attitude, strange mental tangents, and tendency to hang out with Kid Heroes with his great-grandma Obaba.
    • Comparing character portraits from The Lost Age with Dark Dawn, little Himi in the latter is a dead ringer for her aunt Uzume in the former. We might as well call Dark Dawn "Golden Sun 3: Attack of the Clones".
  • Growing Up:
    • When the protagonist first meets his father, Charles remarks on how similar they look since they have the same hairstyle, which is his "least favorite" thing about himself.
    • When the protagonist first eats out with Felicity at the diner, her mother's talk show, Chatty Cathy, goes on air. They notice that Felicity looks just like her.
  • Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons:
    • Harvest Moon and Harvest Moon 64 are two of the few direct sequels in the franchise, the latter taking place two generations after the former with only a senior Ellen being the surviving character from the original. Nina (who already greatly resembled her mom) has a daughter named Lillian who looks strikingly similar to her, and Lilian had Popuri who is a mini version of her. Maria is essentially the first game's Maria with a different hairstyle and glasses, and the original Maria resembled her mom a lot. Ann, Gray, and Rick are all redheads related to Ann from the first game. Ellen is essentially her grandmother when she was younger, and her grandmother had more than a passing resemblance to her mom (just significantly thinner). Only Karen and her mother don't resemblance Eve, though Karen's blonde bangs come from Eve. The protagonist is even a copy of his grandfather, down to the clothes.
    • Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility and Harvest Moon: Animal Parade do this for some of the rival kids and your own children. While some of the rival kids (like Heath and Angie) have a plausible combination of their parents' features, others are less subtle.; for example, Vivian (the daughter of Gill and Luna) is more or less her father Gill in miniature, only with longer hair. Your own kids will also look exactly like you, only (in Animal Parade) with your spouse's hair and eye color.
    • A milder example is in the Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life series, where your son always inherits their hair and eye color from whoever you marry. In the girl version Takakura mentions that your son is "the spitting image" of your husband. In Special Edition you can have a daughter but she will always resemble the protagonist, Mark. Originally she was meant to take after your wife, but due to time constraints they only used one general design for her.
    • Story of Seasons (2014) and Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns make your child(ren) have your spouse's looks in skin, hair, and eye color completely—since you can change how you look at any time. This is an update from older games in the series where the child just had a generic "kid" look that resembled neither.
    • Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is the first game in the series to have a child look like both parents, instead of just one or neither. There's Character Customization at the start, but your skin tone, face shape, and eye color can't be changed. So while your child will always have your spouse's hair and eye colornote  and a face shape according to the parent, they will also have a skin tone blended between you and your spouse. Rock and Gordy's children will have darker tan and brown skin tones, respectively, which are lightened if the player has light skin tones. If the player has the darkest skin tone, the child will always have a tan skin tone—and with Gordy, very dark brown skin like his.
  • I Was a Teenage Exocolonist: The main children aboard the Stratospheric tend to look like their parents, often by taking their hair color.
    • The protagonist inherited their blue-and-yellow hair from their father Geranium.
    • Tammy's a miniature version of her father Tonin, inheriting his pink hair.
    • Cal's a spitting image of his mother Tirah, complete with her green-and-white hair.
    • Marz's hair, which is half-black and half-blue, takes after her fathers' hair colors, which she inherited biologically thanks to the colony's surrogacy program. Her eye color is also a combination of Al's blue eyes and Bernie's red ones.
  • Knights of the Old Republic has Carth Onasi and his son Dustil: it's patently obvious they decided to save themselves some development time, removed the permastubble from Carth's facial texture and called it a day.
  • The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
    • It is noted by Claire herself that Rean resemble Osborne slightly.  As seen in a flashback during Cold Steel III however, it's seen that Rean quite clearly takes after his birth mother, Kasia Osborne, in terms of looks.
    • In Cold Steel III, Altina was originally going to rationalize Aurier's youthful looks with her not being Kurt's blood-related mother... only to realize that they look too similar for that to be plausible.
  • In The Legend of Zelda, every Princess Zelda is related to each other and every Princess Zelda looks almost identical to every previous Princess Zelda. (except for her hair being a few shades darker in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the two NES Zelda's being a brunette and a redhead) Especially jarring in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, where Princess Zelda might as well be a clone of Tetra (who was the Princess Zelda of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker), who supposedly ruled less than a hundred years prior to her.
    • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has Tulin, the son of the Rito archer Teba. Tulin largely resembles a miniature version of Teba with the white feathers and even the same spiky "hair" on top of his head. The only small indication that he is also the son of Saki is that he has blue eyes like her's, and it's not even the same shade of blue.
    • Impa in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the prequel to Breath of the Wild that takes place 100 years before, looks almost completely identical to her granddaughter, Paya, back in the day.
  • In Love & Pies, Kate is like a miniature version of her mother Amelia, sporting the same hot pink hair and blue eyes as her.
  • Subverted with Amelia and Peggy in Manor Matters. Carl is surprised to learn they’re sisters since Amelia has blonde hair and blue eyes while Peggy has black hair and green eyes.
  • In Mass Effect 2, Samara and her daughter, Morinth, are completely identical in appearance. This is to Morinth's advantage if you decide to recruit her; she is able to perfectly impersonate her mother, with only Kasumi (and, of course, Shepard) ever finding out the truth.
  • Metal Gear:
    • Revolver Ocelot looks more like his mother The Boss/The Joy when he's younger and more like his father The Sorrow when he's older.
    • Hal "Otacon" Emmerich looks and sounds almost exactly like his father "Huey" Emmerich.
  • In Octopath Traveler II, Throné strongly resembles her mother, Marietta. When Marietta is shown in flashbacks, she basically looks like Throné in a different outfit. Agnea is also noted to look a lot like her mom by an elderly couple who knew Cuani.
  • Persona:
    • The Persona 2 duology gives us Jun Kurosu, who's more or less a male version of his mother, locally-famous actress Junko Kurosu...and he can't stand it.
    • In Persona 5 how Shido the Big Bad realize Akechi is his illegitimate son because he looks exactly like his mother.
  • Pokémon:
    • N and Ghetsis in Pokémon Black and White. Subverted in the sequel when it turns out they're not biologically related.
    • The mother often resembles at least one of the player characters. Ethan and Kris from Pokémon Gold and Silver look like their Gen II mother, and Lyra looks like the remake redesign of her. May from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire looks like both the Hoenn mother and Professor Birch (the rival's father), and Brendan looks like Norman (the protagonist's father) in the original but like a tanned Birch in the remakes (due to his brown hair). Dawn from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl looks like a younger version of her mom with longer hair, and Lucas looks like her but with a darker shade of hair. Hilda from Pokémon Black and White is a younger version of her mother, while both protagonists in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 resemble their mother. Serena in Pokémon X and Y resembles the mother, though not to the degree of the other protagonists. Averted in Pokémon Sun and Moon, where neither protagonist really resembles their mother at all.
    • In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, the rival, Barry, looks quite a bit like his dad Palmer.
    • In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Contest-centric character Lisia looks quite similar to Wallace, her uncle.
    • Pokémon Sun and Moon features Professor Oak's cousin Samson Oak, who looks just like the original but with longer hair, a darker complexion and more colorful clothing. Lillie shares her hair and eye color with the rest of the members of her family: her brother Gladion, mother Lusamine, and father Mohn.
    • Pokémon Sword and Shield enforces the trope by the Player Character's mother's skin/hair color changing to match whatever color(s) you selected for the player.
    • Pokémon Legends: Arceus has a slew of characters who heavily resemble characters from present titles and are heavily implied to be their descendants. Irony comes up when these ancestors behave the complete opposite of their descendants, and sometimes there are cases of Distaff Counterpart.
    • In Detective Pikachu, Tim looks a lot like a younger version of his dad, the main difference being that Harry has a beard. The sequel points it out, as a kid who met both of them says Tim looks familiar. Returns also shows that Tim's sister Sophia also resembles a younger version of their mom, just with Harry's eye color.
  • In Potion Permit, Lucke and Laura both inherit their mother Mercy's dark skin and hair and light blue eyes.
  • In Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Alister Azimuth instantly recognizes Ratchet as his late friend's son by the fact that he looks almost like his teenage self. Afterwards, Azimuth continues to dwell almost obsessively on the similarities, to the point that he occasionally seems to assume they're the same Lombax — or gets irritated by the fact that they're not.
Azimuth: Ask yourself this: how relevant is the past when it can be changed? Your father would have said, "Not very."
    Ratchet: That's him.
  • In Roots of Pacha, the children tend to take after their parents, usually by hair color.
    • Among Acre and Croll's three children, Jelrod has light brown hair like his mother Acre while Ibon and Ata have blonde hair like their father Croll.
    • Between Tare and Gin's two children, Nokk has blonde hair and fair skin like his mother Tare while Mana has black hair and dark skin like her father Gin.
    • Era is a spitting image of her mother Nari, having dark curly hair and black skin like her.
    • Illoe is mentioned to resemble her missing birth mom, while her stepbrother Brah has black hair and dark skin like his mother Daari.
    • While the Mograni siblings all have the same shade of brown skin, Touk and Vallah have the same black hair, unlike Zeda's, which is white.
    • Among the Yakuans, Krak has the curly hair and black skin of his father Brub, but his hair is blonde like his mother Inza's.
    • Even your child you can have with your Union partner (spouse) is described as a "mini-you", even if you're in a same-gender Union thanks to Pacha's blessing making the child magically appear in your bed.
  • This appears to be the case with the Goth family in The Sims 2. If you change Cassandra's hairstyle and get rid of her glasses, she ends up baring a striking resemblance to her Missing Mom, Bella, whereas, her little brother, Alexander looks a lot like their dad, Mortimer, especially after he becomes a teenager.
  • In Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, you get to meet several of Sly's ancestors. Many of them appear to be nearly Palette Swaps of Sly, with slight modifications to clothing or hairstyle as the time period demands. However, most jarring is Caveman Cooper, dubbed "Bob" by the others: while he's noticeably larger and more Neanderthal-like, Bentley says that his biometrics (fur length, facial features, tail volume...) prove he's Sly's ancestor. Apparently Cooper DNA is so strong it can withstand thousands of generations and still come out with a strong family resemblance.
  • Star Fox: Fox McCloud looks a lot like his father James. James (At least in Star Fox 64) had darker fur and a slightly narrower head, but other than that... They dress the same too, save for Fox eschewing his father's trademark of wearing sunglasses. On those occasions when Fox does don shades they look near identical.
  • Potentially subverted in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, where Fate and Maria look strikingly alike but the plot only tells us they went under similar 'treatment' as kids. Whether they were siblings seems to be a (deliberately?) hanging detail, although they do have an potential ending together.
  • Star Warrior II: The true final dungeon, the Deep, contains logs from someone with the same sprite as Vie. Vie later shows up to clarify that these are her mother's logs.
  • In Find Mii of StreetPass Mii Plaza, the king of the land is represented by your own Mii. In Find Mii 2, we are introduced to the prince and princess... also represented by your own Mii, with different hairstyles. Even lampshaded at the start of the game.
The King: You know, now that we're in one place, I have to say... We do share a rather strong family resemblance, don't we?
  • Suikoden V gives us the main character, the Prince of Falena, who really takes after his mother, Queen Arshtat. Skald Egan, your grandfather mentions this when you meet him. Sialeeds, Arshtat's sister, also looks very much like her after she joins the Godwins, when she stops dyeing her hair. Skald himself bears a very strong resemblance to Ferid.
    • Suikoden in general tends to do this with descendants/ancestors... especially in III, where quite a few of the Stars you can recruit are the children of former Stars: Yoshino and Freed's daughter, Sanea; Milia's daughter, Sharon; Ronnie and Mose's daughter, Emily; and Meg's daughter, Belle.
  • Super Mario Bros.:
    • Mario and Luigi's facial features and hair are strikingly similar.
    • Bowser's son Bowser Jr. might as well be a clone of him. He looks absolutely identical to his father's younger self from the Yoshi's Island games, or Mario & Luigi: Partners In time. He also has a similar personality to his father.
    • Rosalina as an adult looks just like her deceased mother, as revealed in the subplot of Super Mario Galaxy.
    • In Super Mario RPG, the heroes end up visiting Nimbus Land during their search for one of the Stars. They then find their way to a sculptor who works for the palace, who is currently stuck making statues for Valentina. Party member Mallow is surprised when he finds a statue that looks exactly like him. The sculptor begins to explain that the statue is of their king back when he was a boy. After a beat, he realizes what this means.
  • Tekken frequently uses this trope, the most obvious being Kazuya Mishima and his son Jin Kazama. Jin differs from Kazuya only because he has a fringe like his mother Jun, as well as being slimmer and with slightly finer features than Kazuya.
    • Retroactively, this can now be applied to Jun and Jin. Originally, Jin more closely resembled his father than he did his mother (to the point that many thought Jin in T3 was a younger Kazuya), but as of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Jun's facial features better match those of her son.
    • Kuma II also greatly resembles his father Kuma I. Forrest Law also looks just like his father Marshall Law.
  • TinkerQuarry deconstructs this. As it turns out, Adeline isn't the Girl at all, but her mother who's stuck in the body of a child. Adeline's appearance as a child is so close to the Girl's that everybody you meet in the game is convinced that she really is the Girl, to the point where Staya is heartbroken to find out she's not.
  • In Tomb Raider: Legend, we get a look at Lara Croft's mother Lady Amelia Croft, and hot damn now we know where Lara gets her good look from. Amelia is basically a more dignified, less action girl-looking Lara.
  • In Tomodachi Life, if a married Mii couple has a baby, their child will have a mixture of both parents' facial elements.
  • In Triangle Strategy, Travis and his daughter Trish have the same blue eyes and messy red hair. Serenoa can comment on their resemblance in one of the dialogue choices in Chapter 1.
  • Twisted Wonderland:
    • Most characters with biological family introduced on-screen fit this trope: Jamil with younger sister Najma, Epel - grandmother Marya, Sebek - grandfather Baul, Malleus - mother Meleanor.
    • Silver and his father the Knight of Dawn is by far the most egregious case: they have the same body shape, the same animation cycles, the same facial features and even the same voice actor. Silver was even born with the same hair color as his father too, until it was bleached white by Lilia's blessing.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3: This is complicated by the fact that most of the characters don't know what parents and children are, so none of the soldiers are explicitly related. In the base game, Mio is a near carbon-copy of Nia's Gormotti form (a form that Nia doesn't take in 3, instead sticking to her Fox Folk form), the only exception being her golden eyes, which match Rex from 2. In the Future Redeemed DLC, Nikol looks like a younger Shulk with shorter hair, and Glimmer looks like a younger Pyra with darker hair. Panacea has Sharla's skin tone and distinctive mole, while Linka has Pandoria's hair color and core crystal, missing only her obviously non-human traits. Meanwhile, Matthew looks a lot like his grandfather Ghondor and his sister Na'el has the core crystal of their great-grandmother Mio, also known as Moebius M. Matthew and Ghondor also both look quite a lot like Ghondor's father Noah, also known as Moebius N. And that's all putting aside the soldiers who are theorized to be related to characters from the first two games because they look similar.
