Another one of THOSE days, isn't it?

The 19th episode.

Sir, in an effort to have fun, creates a time-traveling ship to capture a live Basilosaurus. Taking his brother, Marceline, Mr. Freeze, and Twilight along, they set off to the right era. However, the beast puts up more of a fight than they expected and the time traveling device futzes up. Going to various time periods in different universes (Pre-movie Spongebob, The Marvelous Mis-Adventures of Flapjack, and Ed, Edd, N Eddy), they finally get back to their own time. However, the beast lands on the ship, crushing it and the device sends both entities to New York.

  • Brain Bleach: Averted at the last minute. Z-Squared attempts to get crude imagery of Marceline out of his head by thinking about something else. He almost thinks about '2 Girls, 1 Cup'.
  • Call-Back: The subject of time travel gives Twilight Sparkle uncomfortable flashbacks.
    • Also, Z-Squared screams "NOT AGAIN!" as soon as the teleporting starts. This references the first teleporting madness event.
    • The music during said teleport spam is a remix of the battle theme of the Fleshsaurs. Seeing as how the team is dealing with another prehistoric threat...
  • The Cameo: "Obscure reference for the win!"-Meta Ridley.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Sir takes the time to greet Flapjack as he tries to deal with the Basilosaurus. The others follow suit.
  • Cool vs. Awesome: Rolf, the fan-favorite of Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Vs. The Basilosaurus.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Mr. Krabs, after the Krusty Krab is destroyed, just tells Squidward and Spongebob to get the broom.
  • Determinator: Sir and the Basilosaurus. While Sir will just not let go of the rod, the creature tries so hard to escape and fight back.
    • Rolf, by extension.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Z-Squared, for a moment, with a wet Marceline (She got hit by a wave. Don't get any funny ideas).
  • The Dreaded: The Basilosaurus is this to Sir (In a way, he's right).
  • Fearless Fool: Ed against the Basilosaurus. He even pries open its jaws after he gets eaten, as if nothing happened.
  • Food End: Everyone goes for Italian at the end.
  • Forgot His Powers: In Twilight's case, as she never uses her magic once in this episode. It's lampshaded and she's quite embarrassed for it.
  • Heroes Gone Fishing
  • Innocent Innuendo: After Marceline gets hit by a wave of water during a raging storm, she complains she's wetter than before. Z-Squared wisely doesn't make a joke out of that. They still exchange friendly banter, though.
  • Ironic Juxtaposition: The sing that Mr. Krabs puts up on the Krusty Krab states 'CHECK OUT OUR SMASHING GOOD FOOD!'. Guess what 'smashes' through the place.
  • Mama Bear: Bubbie the whale is already one, but this time, she takes on a Basilosaurus (a very large predatory whale) head on and wins!
  • Mundane Made Awesome: "I caught a plankton!"
  • No Party Like a Donner Party: At the point in time Sir and pals travel to in the Eds show, the Cul-De-Sac has been flooded and Rolf is considering feasting on Johnny and the Eds. Thankfully, the Basilosaurus appears just in time.
  • Oh, Crap!: Eddy when the Basilosaurus eats Ed.
  • Pun-Based Title: On 'Gone Fishin'.
  • Rummage Sale Reject: Sir in a fishing outfit. REALLY?!
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: The time traveling boat is destroyed at the very end before it sends the Basilosaurus to New York waters.
  • Shout-Out: The ship's name is possibly inspired by the film 'The Philadelphia Experiment'.
  • Swallowed Whole: Ed gets this treatment from the monster, but he gets out quickly.
  • Take That!: Once again, Stephanie Myer and '2 Girls, 1 Cup' get this treatment.
  • Teleport Spam: When water gets in the controls, the boat goes haywire, traveling to different points in time in different universes.
  • Tempting Fate: Mr. Krabs, after putting up the sing, claims nothing could ruin the day, not even Plankton. The rampaging Basilosaurus begs to differ...
    • Also, Sir, as he ponders how useful the ship could be. Cue a falling Basilosaurus.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Z-Squared before the adventure begins.
  • Time Machine: The ship known as 'The Philidelphius'.
  • Time Travel Episode
