When Fizzarolli goes to the Greed Ring to buy some milk, things sure do happen — namely, both Fizz and Blitzo get captured and held for ransom by Crimson and Striker.

Tropes for this episode include:

  • All There in the Script: The subtitles confirm Fizzarolli’s pets are called quieves. The subtitles even clarify their names are supposed to be pronounced like "queef".
  • Amoral Attorney: Crimson sends a lawyer to Asmodeus regarding the ransom on Fizzarolli. If being a shark demon working for a mafioso wasn't enough of an indication, said contract involves legally taking pretty much everything Asmodeus owns while still killing Fizz. While the lawyer claims it was just to ensure Asmodeus and Stolas was paying attention, he unveils a mountain of paperwork that is the real contract to waste their time.
  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: Invoked in-universe during "Look at This!" where the Italian operatic verse is crammed full of random nonsensical words.
  • Bad Boss: At the end of the episode, Asmodeus threatens his staff, saying that if they tell anyone about his relationship with Fizzarolli, he'll BREAK THEM.
  • Bad Guys Play Pool: Crimson's goons are constantly playing pool in his hideout throughout the episode.
  • Bad to the Last Drop: Blitzo is first seen arguing with a random hellhound and telling her that her coffee tastes like piss.
  • Berserk Button: When Blitzo and Fizzarolli are arguing on the street, their insults eventually escalate to when they are pushing each other's buttons as opposed to their usual insults, which escalates to the two of them fighting in the street.
    • Blitzo claims that at least he is still working and earning his shit, as opposed to Fizzarolli just getting handed everything like a "pampered attention whore". This causes Fizzarolli to stop in place and growl angrily as opposed to just brushing it off like usual; he needs to remind himself Asmodeus is waiting for him at home to stop himself from lashing out.
    • Fizzarolli in response just says that's what talent and resilience gets him, and adds his horns were always bigger than Blitzo's. This enrages Blitzo more than even Fizzarolli expected, since he's surprised when Blitzo suddenly attacks him in response.
  • Big "WHAT?!": When Stolas reads the initial contract and informs Ozzie how it gives Crimson all of his factory assets and permission to use Fizzarolli's head as a wall decoration, Ozzie snatches the contract while yelling an enraged "Wait, WHAT?!"
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Crimson and Striker serve as the antagonists of this episode with the former planning to ransom off Fizzarolli to barter control of Ozzie's factories in the Greed Ring and the former looking to work with him.
  • Bigger Is Better in Bed: Assuming Fizzarolli's not just spitballing and being literal due to the size difference, then Asmodeus has one hell of a trouser kaiju in his pants.
  • A Birthday, Not a Break: The accident that caused the circus to burn down, Fizzarolli to lose his horns and limbs, and his friendship with Blitzo being destroyed for fifteen years? The latter bumping into an imp carrying the former's birthday cake, causing a fire from the fallen candles.
  • Body Horror: The explosion Fizzarolli was caught in as a kid is shown, and it isn't pretty. In addition to the white parts of his face being revealed to be scar tissue, his horns were all but destroyed with the remnants sealing themselves up as they still fell apart, and the flesh on his arms was shown to be melting off him as he reached out for the retreating Blitzo, hence the need for prosthetics in the present day.
  • Bound and Gagged: Being an episode about a hostage and ransom situation, Blitzo and Fizzarolli pass almost half the episode tied up. Though, only Fizzarolli is gagged, and just at one point. Also, Asmodeus' and Fizzarolli's bedroom have bondage devices displayed all over the place, and their conversations make clear that they are really into this.
  • Brick Joke:
    • The beginning of the episode has Fizzarolli help schedule Asmodeus's day, which includes meeting a distributor for an incoming shipment of vibrators, as well as safety meeting behind a recalled shipment of vibrators. While Fizz is out, Ozzie oversees a factory creating sex toys. One of the experimental models explodes in his face during a field test, in a literal sense.
    • During breakfast, Fizz tosses a tabloid of Ozzie being a hypocrite in having a loving relationship despite promoting lust. At the end of the episode, Ozzie already knows about the rumors but cares so little about it because he's still one of the Sins and can make them shut up.
  • Bullying a Dragon:
    • Crimson kidnaps Fizz in order to trick Ozzie into signing an eternally-binding ransom contract, despite Ozzie being one of the most powerful demons in Hell. If not for Stolas, it probably would have worked.
    • Crimson's lawyer acts like a Smug Snake and makes the entirety of their negotiation as annoying for Asmodeus — who is one of the Seven Deadly Sins — as possible, confident that he has him in a no-win situation.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Downplayed. Asmodeus does remember the events of "Ozzie's", but after mentioning those events to Stolas when their meeting starts, he puts it in the backburner as the topic soon shifts towards Stolas asking for an Asmodean Crystal for Blitzo.
  • Call-Back:
    • The dogs Fizz walks in Greed ring are of the same breed that young Stella is seen tormenting in Paimon's photograph in "The Circus".
    • One of Crimson's demands is to keep Fizz's head as a trophy for his wall, like the many others seen back in "Exes and Oohs".
    • The imp mom with the baby carriage from the Pilot is seen walking along the sidewalk as Fizz and his dogs are making their way through the greed ring.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: With Asmodeus being one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and thus one of the most powerful demons in hell, nothing's stopping him from killing Crimson's lawyer and then going ham on his mafia. However, as long as Fizzarolli is in their clutches, he has no choice but to try and find a compromise with the lawyer in order to get his freedom.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Blitzo and Fizzarolli work out their differences about the accident that caused the circus fire while battling Crimson's goons. It features a few goons being a Moment Killer when the two former friends hit an emotional breakthrough, yet they keep coming. At one point, Fizz yells at the goons that he and Blitzo are "trying to have a fucking emotional moment here" when they interrupt.
  • Casual Kink:
    • Beside the fact they use BDSM games as cover for their romantic relationship, Asmodeus and Fizzarolli are really into bondage and very open about it (fitting for the Demon Overlord of Lust). The episode reminds the viewer about this constantly, such as when Fizz and Blitzo are tied up in a cage.
    • Subverted with Blitzo. Once he's able to corner Blitzo and Fizzarolli, Striker menacingly threatens to bind them like horses with ropes.
Blitzo: Oh don't you dare talk sexy to me!
Fizzarolli: You're still into the horse thing!?
  • Category Traitor: Striker thinks this of Blitzo and Fizzarolli on account of his deep-seated hatred for the higher-ups in Hell's hierarchy. He claims both of them are embarrassments to Impkind for having anything to do with the likes of Stolas and Ozzie to begin with, though he also claims Blitzo to be the lesser of two evils in his eyes for only sleeping with Stolas out of necessity to run his business instead of being a "purse dog" to Ozzie that he sees Fizz as.
  • Cerebus Retcon: While it's been implied before, this episode confirms that the white patches many imps have on their skin are scars, and that those on Blitzo, and more horrifyingly Fizzarolli's all-white skin, are burns from the fire that destroyed the circus the two of them grew up in.
  • Chekhov's Skill:
    • Stolas being a bibliophile comes in handy when Asmodeus doesn't have the patience to Read the Fine Print, allowing him to fast read and look for details that would have ruined Asmodeus if he had signed right away.
    • Despite not using them as much nowdays, Blitzo's past as member of an acrobatic act in a circus comes handy at manouvering his way across the on-fire junkyard in order to rescue Fizz.
  • Complexity Addiction: Instead of simply finding the right time for Fizzarolli to push the button to escape their cage like Fizz himself suggests, Blitzo instead looks around for the perfect setup to execute a Rube Goldberg Device, not only freeing them as planned, but taking out a good deal of Crimson's goons in the ensuing carnage.
  • Comical Coffee Cup: Crimson's lawyer has a mug saying "Live, Laugh, Law".
  • Comically Wordy Contract: The first contract Crimson's lawyer presents for Fizz's return is over a foot tall, but Stolas manages to read it in under a minute and states that Asmodeus would be signing over all his assets and allowing Crimson to stuff and mount Fizz's head. So then the lawyer pulls out an even larger contract and negotiations continue.
  • Contrived Coincidence:
    • Fizzarolli just so happens to run into Blitzo in the Greed Ring, leading to a fight right in front of the building where Crimson and Striker are having an interview. This allows Striker the opportunity to prove his worth to Crim's mob by lassoing Fizz (with Blitzo in tow), allowing Crim to hold Fizz as a hostage to exploit Ozzie.
    • Two more are also revealed during the flashback to the burning of the family circus, one in each retelling. In Fizzarolli's retelling, he tries to make an escape only to pull a curtain that just so happened to have fireworks laying around, blowing up and maiming his face. And in Blitzo's retelling, the reason the fire started was because he happened to push away an imp carrying a birthday cake with lit candles, causing the tents to start burning up.
  • Crusading Lawyer: Stolas temporarily acts as one for Asmodeus, assisting him in negotiating the deal with Crimson's Amoral Attorney.
  • Cut a Slice, Take the Rest: Fizz sloppily pours a cup of coffee, then drinks the rest straight out of the pot.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode gives a good amount of focus to Asmodeus and Fizzarolli, who were prior only minor antagonists in "OZZIE'S". The episode not only further highlights the contrast between their relationship and Stolas and Blitzo's relationship, the former being much healthier and the latter being more dysfunctional, but also delves into Asmodeus' personality and relationship with Stolas, while also exploring Fizzarolli's past with Blitzo.
  • Deceptively Silly Title: You'd hardly expect an episode titled "Oops" to be about such a Tragic Mistake that scarred the main character for life, destroyed his childhood friendship, and led to the death of his mother.
  • Description Cut: Fizz reassures Asmodeus that he'll be "super low-key" in Greed, only to then show up there in a flashy limousine and exit heralded by a long rolling carpet and confetti.
  • Dirty Coward: As soon as Fizzarolli returns and renders negotiations null and void, Crimson's lawyer packs his stuff and tries to make a run for it, only for him to take too long and be left at the mercy of the Prince of Lust.
  • Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: This is more or less what the original draft of Crimson's contract to Asmodeus in exchange of Fizzarolli's release; not only would he gain possession of all of Asmodeus' assets, including his factories and riches, but he'd be legally allowed to make a trophy out of Fizzarolli, rendering the entire contract pointless. If Stolas hadn't been there, it'd probably have ended pretty badly for Ozzie.
  • Dramatic Irony: Stolas comes to ask Asmodeus for help on romancing Blitzo, but Ozzie refuses to help because Fizz hates him. Meanwhile, the two imps spend the episode discussing the fire that lead to Fizz hating Blitzo in the first place and, while Fizz can't bring himself to forgive him right now, they agree to try again on better terms. When Ozzie tells Fizzarolli about it, Fizz tells him to let Stolas have what he asked for since he's "earned it."
  • Easily Forgiven: Subverted. Blitzo made it clear that that the circus fire was a legitimate accident, and Fizz revealed that he was able to recover from it, leading to his future fame as Mammon's star and his relationship with Asmodeus. Had Blitzo visited him sooner, Fizz would have forgiven him then, but his higher-ups kept them out of communication for years. As such, even after learning all this, Fizz says that he can't just forgive him after so much time apart, but their escape from Crimson's mob is enough to at least try to make a fresh start.
  • Enemy Mine: Blitzo and Fizzarolli loathe each other, the latter even saying seeing each other twice in the span of fifteen years is two times too many. They're forced to fight alongside one another however while trying to escape Crimson's goons and Striker. Doing so allows them to finally work out their issues in the process, and while they'll never be back to how they once were, they're at least on much better terms than they were.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Asmodeus may be all about promoting lustful behavior, but he makes it clear to Stolas that he does not approve of love potions, saying that lust shouldn't be forced.
    • While Blitzo may have also made disparaging remarks towards Fizzarolli for being a "purse dog" to demon royalty, the former is annoyed that Striker, who he described as a "supremacist", agrees with him.
  • Evil Old Folks: Crimson's lawyer is visibly older than the rest of his goons, and he's an Amoral Attorney who's more than willing to piss off the Deadly Sin of Lust himself while thinking that he has him in a no-win situation.
  • Face Death with Dignity: One of Crimson's goons just takes off his hat and accepts his fate when the warehouse starts falling down on them.
  • Fake Arm Disarm: Fizz’s right prosthetic arm gets damaged during the escape, visibly showing a few cut wires. After Fizz returns home, Asmodeus swaps it out for a new one.
  • Fan Disservice: For BDSM fans. Expect the creepy kind of tied up hostages situations. Sure, it's not the first time in the show that a character is Bound and Gagged in a perilous situation. But it's the first time a parallel with bondage is drawn, and the episode insists on that. Fizz himself lampshades this as he is used to being tied up in kinky situations, not by criminals and stuck with someone he couldn't stand.
  • Fighting Clown: Averted. While Fizzaroli does have exceptional acrobatic skills enhanced by his cybernetic limbs, he's a performer, not a fighter. The most he can do is run away while Blitzo cleans house. He at least extends his hands (or arms, in a literal sense) to help Blitzo. Notably he actually tries using his props for battle, but doesn't even slow the mobsters down.
    • Fizz does get one good spring-loaded punch in on Striker before making his escape with Blitzo, so it seems he did take Blitzo's criticism about being "useless in combat" to heart.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: During Fizz's side of the story, right before the Circus Tent blows up, a banner can be seen that says "Happy Birthday! Fizzarolli!" What caused the fires in the first place is quickly revealed by Blitzø in his own side: an impulsively-shoved-aside imp with a pre-lit birthday cake.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Striker leans forward on a tower of boxes, with a close up on the boxes, when he tells Blitzo and Fizzarolli to shut up. Blitzo later uses those same boxes by leaning the cage towards the boxes to set up a domino effect.
    • Fizzarolli's head in the present day is never shown without one of his jester hats; the one time he isn't wearing one is when he's asleep in bed with Asmodeus, and even then he keeps his head covered by the blanket until he reaches for a hat and puts it on before getting out of bed. Furthermore, his initial argument with Blitzo in the Greed Ring has him comment about how his horns were bigger than Blitzo's, specifically highlighting the past tense, and the horns of the jester hat flop around when he moves in a way that makes it clear there are no stiff horns inside them. Both details hint at the fact that, per their Dark and Troubled Past, Fizzarolli lost his horns in the explosion, the stubs quickly falling apart and cauterizing themselves, which he now keeps covered.
    • Ozzie mentions that Fizzarolli will be attending the rehersal for a clown pageant while in Greed, and Fizz mentions that he knows Ozzie isn't "big on the whole Mammon thing". Both the pageant and Mammon are seen in the next episode, and we learn that saying Ozzie doesn't like his boyfriend working for Mammon is a huge understatement.
  • Freudian Threat: To emphasize that his staff best say nothing about his and Fizz's relationship, Ozzie punches a statue in the crotch, turning the area into a crater.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • The gossip tabloid Fizz checks in the morning not only calls Ozzie a hypocrite for having a lovey-dovey relationship with an imp despite being the embodiment of lust, but calls out Fizzarolli for using Asmodeus for his "fat wallet" and even accusing him of double-timing with Mammon, showing that people believe the only way an imp could get that level of fame and influence is by sleeping with their superiors. No wonder Fizz goes above and beyond to protect Ozzie's reputation and keep him from seeing it.
    • The tabloid has an ad for a cross between dildos and tube-men called wacky waving inflatable flailing tube dicks, which are being manufactured by Wally Wackford.
    • Ozzie and Fizz's text messages prior to Crimson's ransom video include Fizzarolli telling Asmodeus that the skin on one's elbow is called a weenis, Fizz being reminded of Ozzie by a billboard with a picture of a giant banana on it, and Fizz confirming he actually did buy milk before his fancy entrance with the limousine.
  • Funny Background Event:
    • During the scene where Asmodeus is walking through the vibrator factory two of the imp workers are play fighting by using the vibrators to club each other.
    • One of Crimson's goons is completely enamoured with Fizz when he briefly crossdresses during the "Look at This" musical number.
  • Fun with Subtitles:
    • The YouTube subtitles take a moment to explain that the Chihuahua-like dog demons that Fizzarolli brings with him are called queives... as in the plural of queef.
    • The scene of the vibrators being created:
Willy WANK-a dildo factory noises. LOL get it. OMG wait... "Willy" LOL
    • Stolas looking over the contracts:
[Excited chicken noises] Ooh this will be fun!
    • The scriptwriter also takes a moment to delight in his job during Fizz's rant about Asmodeus' apparently gigantic dick:
(I'm being paid to write this LOL)
    • When Fizz starts singing Italian, the subtitles just translates the Italian. Also, the ending when they jump out of the warehouse.
[ALESSIO DOES A MOM-HAND AT CRIM]
    • When Striker is rolling on the ground on fire and scurrying away, making sounds more fit for a rabid animal:
      [CRITTER NOISES]
    • When Fizz and Ozzie reunite:
      [CANOODLING NOISES]
    • At the ending credits:
BTW, DON'T WORRY, The Queives all made it home safe and sound <3
  • Furry Reminder:
    • When Stolas snores while sleeping, he hoots like an owl.
    • Striker manages to escape by sneaking into a hole in the same way as a lizard.
  • Gilligan Cut: Fizzarolli assures Asmodeus that he'll be discreet in Greed. Cue him pulling up in an extravagant limo, complete with a rolling carpet.
  • Gratuitous Italian: During Fizzarolli's distraction song, he devolves into a vaguely operatic sounding ballad, which really is just him saying random Italian words and names.
  • Groin Attack: Ozzie punches a statue of a nude man in a state of arousal directly on the crotch, turning its groin into a crater, as a way to threaten his staff not to tell anyone of his and Fizzarolli's relationship.
  • HA HA HA—No: Ozzie's reaction when Fizzarolli jokingly suggests he try cooking for them.
  • Hellfire: Unlike normal fire on Earth, which imps are explicitly immune to, the fire in Hell CAN hurt them—as shown by Blitzø and Fizz's backstory.
  • History Repeats: In order to save Fizz from Striker, Blitzo blows up some gas cans behind Striker - but Fizz gets caught in the blast and is almost burned alive again, just like the incident at the circus that ruined his and Blitzo's friendship. Fortunately though, this time Blitzo saves Fizz.
Fizzarolli: You blew me up again, you fucking prick!
Blitzo: I did... but this time I stuck around.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The massive contract Crimson's lawyer brought with him to force Ozzie to sign ends up as his undoing, as trying to get it back into his briefcase prevents him from escaping while Asmodeus is reuniting with Fizz.
  • Hypocrite:
    • When Fizzarolli reads the newspaper in the morning, he finds a headline calling Asmodeus a hypocrite regarding his romantic relationship with the jester despite being the embodiment of lust, establishing their romance as an Open Secret at least in the Lust Ring.
    • Striker goes off on Blitzo and Fizzarolli for being Category Traitors who sleep with demon royalty despite the way imps are treated by the upper class. Fizzarolli points out that thinking himself superior to everyone else makes Striker not that different from what he thinks the royals are like, though Striker warns him not to finish that sentence. Also while Fizz has no way of knowing it, there is still the fact that Striker has twice so far allowed himself to be hired by Stella, who basically embodies every negative trait held by someone living in the upper class.
  • I Don't Like the Sound of That Place: According to Ozzie, there's a town in the Greed ring literally called Ransom.
  • I Have Your Wife: Crimson and Striker capture Fizzarolli in the Greed ring so they can ransom him for Ozzie, since it's an Open Secret how much Ozzie cares for Fizzarolli while exploiting it to prevent Asmodeus from just crushing them with his overwhelming power.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: When reassuring Asmodeus about it being okay if he goes to the Greed Ring on his own, Fizzarolli promises he won't draw attention to himself or stand out. Smash Cut to him arriving in a glitzy limo with dick-shaped glitter cannons, walking a pack of demon puppies, wearing a very flashy outfit, and rolling around on Heelys.
  • Implied Death Threat: Ozzie is so happy to have Fizzarolli back that he doesn't care anymore if anyone sees them being affectionate together. He does say to Fizzarolli though (while also clearly addressing everyone else) that they know what will happen to them if they speak a word of it to anyone; as shown by breaking one of his provocative fountains by punching it directly in the dick.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Stolas seems positively giddy at the idea of reading over the lawyer's long and laboriously worded contract.
Stolas: Ohohoho, this is going to be fun! I love words!
  • Interrupted Intimacy: Played with. Ozzie's assistant walks in on Ozzie and Fizzarolli acting lovey-dovey with each other in the morning, and they quickly pretend they were actually just having "unemotional sex".
  • Irony: Asmodeus, the embodiment of sinful lust, is shown to have a healthy and loving romance with Fizzarolli.
  • It's All My Fault: Double subverted. Blitzo reveals to Fizzaroli that the fire that destroyed the circus and maimed him was entirely his fault because he'd angrily pushed the imp carrying Fizz's lit birthday cake aside, and he - and the candles from the cake - fell, which caused the fire. While Blitzo initially insists that the entire thing was just an accident, he quickly admits that, accident or not, he's still at fault for what happened.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Implied to be the reason Stolas went to Asmodeous for an Asmodean Crystal to give to Blitzø. He's most likely well aware that if Blitzø gets the crystal, he won't need Stolas' grimoire and their arrangement will be effectively null and void. But he sees that Blitzø is unhappy in their relationship and feels that it is purely transactional as he said as much at the tragic end of their first date. But if cutting that transaction out of their relationship and giving him a 100% legal means of running his business, even if it results in Stolas' never seeing his beloved imp ever again, makes Blitzo happy, then so be it.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Crimson came out foiled but mostly unscathed in his first appearance. Here, he's both foiled and definitely scathed when a building falls on him, as well as both of his hostages killing several of his men and escaping with little difficulty.
  • Karmic Jackpot: By saving Fizzarolli from another fire, not only does Blitzo rekindle his friendship with the jester, but he now gets an Asmodean crystal that allows him to go to the mortal realm without the use of Stolas's grimoire.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Striker complains about Fizzarolli commenting about being turned on, clearly exasperated at all his hostages and targets always making sexual innuendos.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Crimson's lawyer needlessly drags out negotiations with Asmodeus, taking his sweet time reading the latest draft of the contract just to irritate him. This lasts just long enough for Fizzarolli to return on his own, leaving the lawyer in a room with an angry prince of hell who no longer has any reason to keep him alive.
  • Laughing Mad: By the very end while he's holding Fizzarolli hostage, Striker is laughing to himself while ranting about how he refuses to lose to Blitzo again, highlighting how he's gone off the deep end.
  • Leave the Two Lovebirds Alone: While Fizzarolli and Asmodeous are sharing a tearful reunion following the former's rescue and return, Stolas decides to leave them be, putting on his hat while smirking evilly at Crimson's lawyer who is frantically trying to prepare for his own escape.
  • Leonine Contract: The first contract Crimson's lawyer gives Asmodeus not only gives Crimson full-control of his monetary assets, but it gives him the right to make a trophy out of Fizzarolli, something the whole arrangement was meant to prevent in the first place.
  • Lethal Chef: Discussed. Fizzarolli is such a bad cook that him suggesting that he do it instead of Ozzie (to lighten the long list of tasks Ozzie has on his plate) sends Ozzie into fits of laughter before coldly shooting it down. Apparently, even Fizz thinks his cooking skills are so bad, he might be able to burn milk.
  • The Load: Downplayed. Unlike Blitzo, Fizzarolli is not a fighter, and for the first half of the escape attempt has to have Blitzo keep rescuing him. Later on, Fizz is able to use his robotic flexibility to direct Blitzo towards their enemies and help distract the mobsters during their getaway.
  • Love Makes You Stupid: Asmodeus was so willing to ensure Fizz's safety that he tried to sign the contract given to him be Crimson's lawyer as soon as he could, the stupidity comes in the fact that Ozzie would have signed the contract (which was rigged against him to a ludicrous degree) without even reading it! The fact that Stolas happened to be meeting with Ozzie at the time of the ransom video was sent and decided to stick around for the negotiations was the only thing that prevented Crimson from realizing his best case scenario.
  • Love Potion: Namechecked by Ozzie, who finds them beneath him. To him, lust is an art form that should be developed and cultured. Not forced.
  • Madness Makeover: Striker looks a lot more scruffy and battered during his last confrontation in the episode, reflecting how much his past defeats are straining his sanity.
  • Magically-Binding Contract: It's heavily implied that any contract signed by demons, or at least high-ranking demons like Ozzie, would be this.
  • Match Cut: Ozzie sighing in frustration after the test vibrator explodes in his factory cuts to him sighing in the same pose in his office before he realizes it's time for his meeting with Stolas.
  • Megaton Punch: Fizzarolli performs one on Striker by coiling his robot arm like a spring.
  • Modesty Bedsheet: Ozzie is first seen asleep on his bed under a bedsheet, which serves to cover his naked body, as well as Fizzarolli who's asleep on top of his chest.
  • Moment Killer: Invoked by Blitzo. As him and Fizzaroli are hugging it out after having saved him, Blitzo cannot hold himself back from messing a bit with Fizz and asks him if it would "fuck up the moment if we made out right now?" Fizz breaks the hug and gives him a glum look in response.
  • Murder by Inaction: Subverted. Fizz assumes Blitzo running off during the fire was this, but in reality, Blitzo was trying to find help.
  • Must Have Caffeine: While getting ready in the morning Fizzaroli drinks almost a full pot of coffee (save one cup), and then brews another cup from a fancy espresso machine.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: After accidentally causing the fire that gravely burned Fizzaroli and running away, Blitzo returns to save him from another fire in the Greed Ring.
  • Naked Apron: A servant in Ozzie's estate is seen carrying towels and wearing only an apron and panties.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: Striker's hatred of Demon Royalty is expanded to being hatred of anything that puts Imps down, with both Blitzo and Fizzarolli calling him an Imp Supremacist after he calls them "embarrassments" for fucking Demon Royals.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Crimson's lawyer does his best to make the negotiations as annoying as possible for Asmodeous. Including deliberately taking his sweet time reading the contract when Stolas slides it back to him. Unfortunately for the lawyer, this ends up buying Blitzø and Fizzaroli time for them to escape and render the negotiations meaningless.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Fizzarolli has cooked once before, and screwed it up so badly that when he offers to do it again, Asmodeus has a HA HA HA—No reaction.
    • Whatever it was that Blitzo was doing in the Greed ring at the time of the episode is never elaborated on — all we see is him getting literally thrown out of a building by a hellhound.
Blitzo: FUCK, LADY! IT'S NOT MY FAULT IF YOU ONLY KNOW HOW TO MAKE COFFEE THAT TASTES LIKE PISS!
  • "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: The subtitle explaining that the fly/chihuahua hybrid demons are called queives (as in the plural of queef) is prefaced with "yeah you saw that right".
  • Oblivious to Love: Blitzø asserts to Fizzarolli that Stolas only sees him as a sex toy, but goes on to rant about all the ways he "pretends" to be in love like asking about his day or showing interest in his social media posts. Fizzarolli sarcastically says it definitely sounds like Stolas isn't in love with Blitzø.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Crimson's shark attorney has such a moment when he sees Fizz barge in through the door into the office, meaning he has lost any leverage over Asmodeus, he lost all chances to get a good contract out of him and there's no longer anything stopping Ozzie from obliterating him right there. It gets worse when he realizes he lost his chance to run while packing his paperwork away.
    • While Asmodeus is tending to him, Fizzarolli goes Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises when he sees the former take out a pair of scissors from a first-aid kit. It turns out Asmodeus intended to use it to cut away the sleeve so he can replace Fizzarolli's wrecked robotic prosthetic arm with a new one, which he does.
  • Once More, with Clarity: Fizz reveals the events that caused his and Blitzo's friendship to crumble, claiming Blitzo deliberately started a fire and left him to die simply because he was jealous everyone liked him more. Blitzo admits that it was his fault - he was about to give Fizz a letter confessing his feelings, but seeing everyone loving him upset him. When he turned to leave, he angrily pushed the imp serving a cake for Fizz's birthday aside, causing him - and the candles on the cake - to fall over, setting fire to the circus tent they were in. And Blitzo wasn't leaving him to die; he was trying to find help.
  • Open Secret: How much Ozzie sees Fizz as more than a Friend with Benefits is considered Hell's "worst-kept secret", and described as such by Crimson. Fizz even reads a tabloid about it, awkwardly trying to hide it from Ozzie. By the end, Ozzie claims that he doesn't care and he more than implies that he can silence anyone who makes it an issue.
  • Out of Focus: Moxxie, Millie, and Loona are all absent, with the episode focusing entirely on Blitzo.
  • Pass the Popcorn: After setting his improvised Rube Goldberg Device in motion, Blitzo gleefully watches the chaos and carnage unfold, and is even shown munching on popcorn and sipping from a soda between shots.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Part of the reason Blitzo and Fizzarolli's friendship fell apart was because they never spoke to each other after the accident. When Fizzarolli asks why Blitzo never tried to tell him anything earlier or even try to visit him once, Blitzo says he tried but he was told Fizzarolli didn't want to see him. Fizzarolli says he never said that, and nobody told him that Blitzo ever came. They both realize they were lied to.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: While he doesn't do the deed himself, Stolas utters one as he leaves Asmodeus and Fizarroli to deal with Crimson's now-panicking lawyer themselves. It's implied what happens to said lawyer afterward isn't pretty, due to the camera turning away as Asmodeus and Fizzarolli pounce on him.
Stolas: (departing) Get fucked, little one.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: Even though he’s the literal embodiment of the sin of Lust and desires to propagate it as much as possible, Asmodeus believes that carnal passion should be nurtured and consensual above all else, so he refuses to make love potions, since they force people to love in a non-consensual way, viewing them as something beneath even him.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: During his meeting with Stolas, Asmodeus is perfectly understanding of the prince's position when he reveals that he wants to give Blitzo an Asmodean Crystal, which Ozzie's succubi use to travel to the human world, in order to give his business a legal way to travel there. Asmodeus himself doesn't mind it, but points out that his partner-sorry, business partner-really hates Blitzo and probably wouldn't approve of the Sin of Lust giving him anything at all. Once Fizzarolli gives Ozzie the a-okay to give it to Blitzo, he has no problem with giving it to the imp at a later date.
  • Read the Fine Print: Stolas gets Asmodeus to let him read the contract fully before signing it, keeping the latter from losing all of his assets. The initial draft of the contract likewise would have given Crimson legal permission to decapitate Fizzarolli and mount his head on his wall, rendering the entire situation a net loss for Asmodeus. The Amoral Attorney tries brushing off as just a test to see if they were paying attention.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Fizz gives a tragic, but brutal one to Blitzo for being jealous in the past after the incident of the circus. It serves to crack Blitzo into finally letting out his side of the events, and reveal where Fizz is off the mark.
Fizz: AN ACCIDENT!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? You always had it out for me because people liked me better. You wanted me gone, because you were jealous! Just wanting the spotlight! I looked up to you, I thought you were my best friend... You ruined my life! And then you just left me... I lost so much because of you, and you selfish piece of shit, YOU DIDN'T EVEN CARE!
  • Relationship-Salvaging Disaster: Blitzo and Fizzarolli end up getting captured by Crimson, but despite the danger, the situation gives them an opportunity to talk and mend their relationship.
  • The Reveal: The white spots on Blitzo's body are burn scars from a fire he accidentally started, which maimed Fizzarolli when some fireworks blew up in his face, and it's heavily implied Blitzo's mother died in the fire.
  • Rube Goldberg Device: Blitzo improvises one to press the button on a remote control to lower himself and Fizz down from the ceiling, knocking over some boxes to cause a chain reaction that sees a billiards cue ball pushing the button, with the added bonus of taking out several henchmen that would have hindered their escape.
  • Sanity Slippage: Striker is a bit more unhinged than in previous episodes, both with putting up with Blitzo and Fizz's argument, and later when his latest big gig is foiled by Blitzo. Striker even says that he's "tired of losing these fights" when Striker tries one last time to get one over on Blitzo after he and Fizz escape.
  • Scars Are Forever:
    • The white patches on Blitzo's face are revealed to be scar tissue from the circus fire when he was younger, illustrated via the flames enveloping the area around his eye when it first occurred.
    • Similarly, Fizzarolli's face and neck is shown to not be makeup, but scar tissue, too, most of his face having been caught in the flames and exploding fireworks. His nosetip is only red because he had a clown nose on when the fire happened, saving only that much from the burns.
  • Secret-Keeper: Fizz worries about Ozzie showing their relationship openly to all of his workers. Ozzie isn't worried because he'll ruin their lives if anyone says anything.
  • Sexy Secretary: Ozzi's assistant, who accidentally interrupts his and Fizz's romantic moment, is a bespectacled succubus with large breasts.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Stolas claps and giggles excitedly the same way his father did in "The Circus".
  • Shout-Out:
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Asmodeus and Fizzarolli are shown to be this way, giving each other revolting pet names and acting extremely cutesy and saccharine around each other. This is later Played for Drama in the episode, and it's shown that the Open Secret that the Deadly Sin of Lust is deeply in love (with an imp, no less) has dealt a serious blow to Asmodeus' reputation amongst Hell's elite, and is what prompts Crimson to kidnap and ransom Fizzarolli.
  • Sleeps in the Nude: Ozzie is shown to sleep naked in his bed, befitting his status as a luxurious lust demon. He's covered up by a Modesty Bedsheet, but it's made clear he's not wearing anything else when he gets out of bed and gets himself into a bathrobe.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: An imp carrying a birthday cake with lit candles is the cause of Blitzo and Fizzarolli's friendship disintegrating and the implied death of Blitzo's mother.
  • Snap Back: In Stolas' last appearance in 'Western Energy', he was hospitalized after Striker tortured him with a blessed knife, having been 'hurt pretty bad'. However, in this episode, he is perfectly fine. According to Striker, he told Crimson he had a 'royal on the ropes last week' (implying Stolas), confirming that this episode takes place a week later from that incident.
  • Spanner in the Works: Crimson's plan hinged on a lovestruck Asmodeus agreeing to an eternally binding contract in exchange for Fizzarolli's freedom. However, because Stolas had happened to come to Ozzie for a discussion about giving Blitzo an Asmodean Crystal, he ended up being present during the meeting with Crimson's crooked lawyer. His presence helped stop Ozzie from impulsively signing away all of his assets—including Fizz's life— because Stolas was willing to take the time to read all the terms of the contract. This hold-up bought time for Fizz to escape with Blitzo and get home before Crimson's deadline, rendering the blackmail/ransom threat null.
  • Stopped Dead in Their Tracks: Blitz and Fizzarolli run into each other in the Greed ring, to the delight of neither of them. According to Fizz, "twice in the last 15 years is already way too much", and he begins walking off. Blitz disdainfully spits that at least he still works and doesn't get everything handed to him like a "pampered Attention Whore", causing Fizz to stop in anger and growl. He then pulls one on Blitz who has begun walking off, saying "that's what resilience and talent gets you," while also stating he had bigger horns than him. Blitz reacts to this with a Rage Breaking Point.
  • Stripped to the Bone: A shark demon that chokes and dies on confetti when Fizz arrives in Greed is devoured by the latter's dogs in seconds.
  • Surprisingly Happy Ending: Blitzo and Fizzarolli manage to escape, having a heart-to-heart discussion in the process and repairing their friendship, and Fizzarolli gives Ozzie his permission for Blitzo to have an Asmodean Crystal, which will allow him legal access to the mortal realm. After the disastrous attempt to rekindle his relationship with his sister in the previous episode, Blitzo definitely earned this happy ending.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: As a mobster is charging at him, Fizzarolli throws a Banana Peel in the mobster's path. The mobster steps right on the peel, but much to Fizz's frustration, he keeps going like nothing happened. Fizz even groans "That usually works!" before the mobster reaches him.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: When Ozzie's assistant walks in on Ozzie and Fizzarolli being affectionate in the morning, they're both quick to stress to her that they're just having "unemotional sex", are totally not in love, and that "love is stupid".
  • Tears of Joy: Blitzo has them when he and Fizz mend their friendship.
    • Fizz and Ozzie cry them as well, when they're reunited with each other.
  • The Tape Knew You Would Say That: When Ozzie starts responding to Crimson's message, Stolas points out that it's likely a recording. Cue Crimson acknowledging in the recording that Ozzie likely has just said "You Have No Idea Who You're Dealing With".
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • As the walls of Crimson's warehouse begin to collapse, one of his goons solemnly takes off his hat knowing he probably won't survive what's happening.
    • Ozzie facepalming after Fizz assures him no one will notice him implies that the Sin of Lust knows exactly what Fizz's definition of "low-key" is.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: Young Blitzo wanted to confess his love to Fizzaroli, but was so upset with all the attention Fizz got that he turned around and pushed an imp aside in frustration. Unfortunately, the imp just so happened to be carrying a lit cake, causing the cake to fall into a curtain, lighting the entire circus tent on fire. And Blitzo running off to find help was misinterpreted by Fizz as Blitzo trying to commit Murder by Inaction.
  • Trauma Button: Poor Fizz is trapped in a second fire with both his arms no longer functioning, a pretty close recreation of a very traumatic event. He's visibly hugging himself and paralyzed with fear, possibly having flashbacks.
  • Truth in Television: Yeah, BDSM and bondage fans being Too Kinky to Torture is a common joke, but it is extremely rare in real life due to the simple fact that the situation is real and not simulated. Actually, even for the ones fantasizing about kidnapping role-play scenarios, for the vast majority of people into it, being kidnapped, Bound and Gagged and kept captive by an ultra-violent mafia against ransom, would be a very unpleasant and traumatizing experience.
  • The Un-Favourite: During a flashback Cash can be seen giving Fizzarolli a birthday card reading 'I wish you were my son.' Right in Blitzo's line of sight, too...
  • The Unreveal: After both Blitzo and Fizzarolli reveal what went down and learn from the other that they were told they wouldn't contact each other, they realize they've been lied to, but never reveal who was the one who lied to them, as they're currently busy trying to escape.
  • Uptown Girl: Discussed. While in captivity, Blitzo and Fizz end up discussing their affairs with Hell's nobility. Blitzo bitterly states that royals who have affairs with the lower classes don't actually care, stating Stolas is only having sex with him as a "novelty". Fizz, thinking of his own loving relationship with Asmodeus, quietly says that that isn't true for all royals, suggesting it's something that nags at the back of his head, at the very least. He also snarkily points out that Stolas does genuinely care about Blitzo, though the latter is too bitter to see it. Striker then interrupts and states both of them are race traitors for even fraternizing with the nobles.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: This trope is the biggest one for Fizzarolli (it still double counts as a Freudian Excuse), he used to be a Nice Guy as a child before Blitzo accidentally started a fire that burned down his family's circus all because he was jealous that Fizz was better than him and receiving his father's affection.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Striker's going through one at the end of this episode. Having been foiled by a member of I.M.P. yet again, likely costing him his employment with Crimson in the process, the cowboy descends into a seething, venomous rage as he holds Fizz at gunpoint, snarling at Blitzo that he's had enough of the latter coming out on top. Too bad for Striker that he doesn't notice a few gas cans nearby, allowing Blitzo to set Striker on fire so he and Fizz can escape.
Striker: You think I'm just gonna let you get away after all this? I'M THROUGH LOSING THESE FIGHTS!!
  • Villain Team-Up: Crimson and Striker join forces to take Fizzarolli hostage in an attempt to extort Ozzie.
  • We Need a Distraction: Blitzo asks Fizz to distract Crimson and Striker while he opens a hole in a window. Blitzo takes longer than expected, forcing Fizz to improvise and drag out this trope further. While the mob eventually catches on, the two make their escape seconds after. According to Blitzo they'd use a similar tactic on his dad to steal his booze when they were younger.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Whereas Striker comes back for a Last Villain Stand, Crimson completely vanishes after the warehouse collapses.
  • Wham Episode: Blitzo and Fizz manage to finally repair their friendship after so long (with it being revealed what happened between them as well, and that someone actively prevented them from making up earlier for some currently unknown reason), and because of it, Fizz allows Ozzie to give Blitzo an Asmodean crystal, allowing him to legally access the mortal realm. Additionally, it's revealed that Striker and Crimson have teamed up and that the former is slowly going off the deep end.
  • Wham Line: "I DID CARE!" This line spoken by Blitzo leads to some clarification about what happened when Blitzo and Fizz were kids. Fizz believed that the fire that was set by Blitzo was an attempt on Fizz's life because Blitzo was jealous of the attention that Fizz always got. As Blitzo explains, and the audience gets to see, the fire was indeed Blitzo's fault, but it was an accident when Blitzo impulsively pushed an imp in frustration, causing a cake with birthday candles to light the tent everyone was in on fire. This same flashback also features a moment where Blitzo says that Fizz has "no idea what [he also] lost in that fire" with a picture of Blitzo's mother and sister burning up in the flames, heavily implying that Blitzo's mother also died because of him. After this matter is cleared up, the strained relationship between Blitzo and Fizzarolli starts to mend.
  • Wham Shot:
    • When Blitzo recalls what really happened to the circus burning to ashes, he pushes an imp who is carrying a cake that reads, "Happy Birthday, Fizz".
    • Another one comes when Blitzo implies that he lost someone important to him, as it cuts to a photo of him, Barbie and their mother burning into ash.
  • You Have No Idea Who You're Dealing With: Ozzie's reaction to Crimson kidnapping Fizzarolli for ransom is to scream "Do you have any idea who you're fucking with?" at the recording. While Stolas interjects that it's a recording, Crimson knew Ozzie would say that, getting in a "The Reason You Suck" Speech about how his "secret" relationship with Fizz isn't much of a secret.
Ozzie: Do you have any idea who you are FUCKING WITH?!
    Stolas: I think it's a recording...
Crimson: Ya probably just asked if I know who I'm dealing with. And oh yes, I know - the weakest and most non-threatening of the Sins! The king who will do whatever it takes to save the worst kept secret in all of Hell! We both know you won't risk anything happening to the clown. So be a good little bitch boy, and do the thing.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Downplayed. After Striker interrupts Blitzo's and Fizz' argument over their respective royal lovers, he points out that at least (from what he knows) Blitzo only sleeps with Stolas to keep his business going and isn't a full-on consort like Fizzarolli. Blitzo isn't too jazzed about the Ax-Crazy imp supremacist being on his side.

Blitzo's Escape Plan

Rather than simply just letting Fizz press the bottom with his extending arm, Blitzo opts for an elaborate and lucky series of Dominos that also take out a few of Crimson's goons.

How well does it match the trope?
