Here we see Yamada and Ichikawa in their natural habitat.

Gloomy, First-Person Smartass Closet-Chuuni boy meets weird, carefree model with an endless appetite. Sparks fly. Romantic and comedic sparks.

    Volume 1

Karte 1

  • Ichikawa and Yamada's first meeting in the library. After describing her as high-standard beauty in the series-opening, he walks in on her stuffing her face with a rice cake. Then, with the rice still in her mouth, says something to him ("Don't tell anyone" per Word of God) that he just awkwardly acknowledges. And she just assumes that he gets it.
  • Ichikawa hands Yamada a box cutter for her to cut some newspaper for her group’s social studies project. He nearly decided against it from preconceived fear until he hears Yamada tearing the poster with her bare hands, and alerts her with a gasp.
  • Upon borrowing it, Yamada assures Ichikawa her pun ("Exacto-ly what I needed!", or "Cutta! Yatta!" in the original Japanese) was purely accidental. And she forgets to give it back, putting it in her pencil case and leaving the library. Ichikawa is too shy to say anything.

Karte 2

  • Yamada realized that she took Ichikawa’s box cutter the next day and put it on his desk for him, and Ichikawa deduced from how warm it felt that she kept it in her hand all the way to school so she wouldn’t forget.
  • When Ichikawa notices Yamada shedding tears over screwing up the first version of her group’s project, he tries to divert the classes' attention away when they start looking at her direction (They’re looking at an Osprey helicopter outside and don't even notice her.) Specifically, he cuts up his group’s poster after their presentation was done. Mission accomplished, but Yamada already got over it and is also looking at the helicopter.

Karte 3

  • Yamada not noticing the Twice Shy moment between Kanzaki and Hara until probably a minute later. The heartfelt music playing even stops when she opens her mouth.
Yamada: Kinda strange seeing you two together.
Ichikawa You’re screwing this up, Yamada.
  • When Ichikawa accidentally drops a book while spying on the three, Yamada figures out that he’s there, says that the noise was probably a cat, and starts signaling him to make cat sounds. Ichikawa’s cat impression is as fake as it comes and invokes dead silence in the room.
Ichikawa …I wish I was dead.
    • Yamada was signaling with excessive fake coughing. To the point where she starts coughing for real.
    • Yamada is so thoroughly unimpressed by Ichikawa’s cat noise that she excuses herself from the table, walks behind the bookshelf he’s hiding behind and starts making realistic cat sounds to show him how it’s done. Kanzaki and Hara bought both impressions and think the cats are fighting. Ichikawa and Yamada then keep the act going on until they leave.
      Yamada: Phew! Job's done.

Karte 4

  • Yamada sitting on Chii’s lap, who demands that they switch due to the size difference. When they do, Yamada complains about Chii’s weight.
    Chii: Want an ass-kicking!?
Ichikawa: What is this, a moe anime?

Karte 5

  • Ichikawa walks into a bookstore to look for a magazine that Yamada modeled for… and Yamada is in that same store trying to get people to recognize her from the book. Two girls pick up the magazine, but Yamada’s blatant and non-verbal attempts at being noticed just send them walking out of the store without a copy.
Yamada: (Staring right at the girls)
    Ichikawa: (Don't look.)
    • The girls actually thought they were in the way.
  • After that, she puts copies of the magazine on top of the others. Then she sees some autographs, pulls out a pen that she starts twirling in her fingers, and stands around waiting for some signing of her own. The store clerk walks right past her to put the magazines back in the right order. After which Yamada sulks her way out of the store.

Karte 6

  • Ichikawa coping with Yamada getting male attention... in the form of Nanjou-senpai's very pushy and persistent pick up artistry. Yamada, to her credit, puts up a fairly good resistance giving Nanjou the verbal runaround. After telling him that she doesn't use LINE or even knows what Social media is ("Soul shall me dia?"), she gives a very elaborate explanation as to how she can stay in touch with her friends:
Yamada: We tune into each other. Like catching signals through the air, y'know? Once we adjust our brainwaves, we can read each other's thoughts.

Karte 8

  • Yamada slapping herself with a piece of plastic, which Chii snatches away from her so she doesn't bruise herself.
Yamada: Then Chii you fan me!
    Chii: No way in hell!
  • The girls fanning each other in a fourway, with Yamada slapping Chii in the shoulder this time.
  • When Adachi tries to get a peek at Yamada's bra through her sweaty shirt, Ichikawa tries to send telepathic messages to his brain to try and tell him to stop. Given that this isn't that kind of series, it doesn't work.
    • Instead Ichikawa "accidentally" drops his box cutter in Adachi's path. Adachi picks it up for him, but then Ichikawa tells him to wait as he checks on the cutter's edge with a rather creepy look on his face as the girls leave the room. Adachi is both disappointed and creeped out by Ichikawa.

Karte 12

  • Ichikawa and Yamada end up in the school infirmary, due to “creatures inside his head" (i.e. a headache) and a "stomachache" (i.e. period cramps) respectively. Kyōtarō stares at her resting face for a few seconds until she opens her eyes and stares right back, at which point he immediately turns himself over. Yamada caught him regardless but is actually relieved since it's someone she actually knows.
    • After Yamada leaves, Ichikawa sees that she left her gym jacket and resists the instinctive urge to grab it, blaming it on the creatures in his head. He swiftly lays back down when the nurse comes back, who then tosses the jacket onto Ichikawa so he can give it back to Yamada. He's somewhat disappointed that it smells like sweat instead of what he expected girls to smell like.
    • Yamada remembers what she forgot back at the infirmary; her candy. She even runs past Ichikawa while he's holding her jacket.

Karte 13

  • Adachi and his friends try to get Yamada's circle to partake in a "personality test" that involves having them touch Adachi's closed fist. This is somehow supposed to give the one with the closed fist an idea of what the person doing the touching likes to do in bed. Not only do Moeko and the rest suspect Adachi has ulterior motives, they also think this game just an excuse for the boys to get some female contact. Adachi brings Kanzaki and their other friend Oota over so they can ward off this suspicion. Kanzaki goes first and taps the underside of Adachi's fist, which Ichikawa had just heard from the boys a minute earlier means the subject likes being dominated from behind.
Ichikawa: (internal monologue) Oh, God. I'm imagining it! WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE GO NEXT AND GET THIS IMAGE OUT OF MY HEAD?!
    • The girls go along with the game without actually touching Adachi's hand with their own. Chii taps it with a ruler, Serina shoves her foot against it, and Moeko uses Chii's hand. Regardless, the other boys guess their preferences to be "toys", footjobs and threesomes respectively.
    • When it's Yamada's turn, she... goes through her bag, puts on glasses and a jersey, and starts grabbing a bunch of other stuff in a hurry.
Chii: This isn't a joke contest, you know.
    • After that's done, Yamada finds a piece of candy missing from her bag in the library. She sees Ichikawa with a closed fist, assumes he took it, and pries his fist open to find nothing. Ichikawa recalls that placing one's hand over another's fist means that the subject prefers to be dominant and ride on top and curls up on the ground. He later "went crazy" after that, while Yamada found the candy in her pocket.

Karte 10

  • Ichikawa's class was given the task of making a haunted house for the Cultural Festival, and Yamada, aware that Ichikawa is good at illustrating, volunteers him to help out Hara with painting the backdrop (a series of graves). Ichikawa, clearly just entering his sexual awakening, eventually gets distracted and taken aback by the size of Hara's breasts, given she's hunched over right in front of him hard at work with her side of the graveyard backdrop. In the middle of his leering, Yamada pops out of a prop well while dressed as a ghost and it startles him so severely out of his trance he finds himself stammering an apology.
Chii: (while holding a director's bullhorn) Cut, cut!! "BOWAAAAH"? What the heck is that? Are you trying to sound cute??
Yamada: Hey, it worked, didn't it? Look, I scared Ichikawa!

Karte 15

  • Yamada, having to wear a nose plaster after getting hit in the face with a basketball, is repeatedly asked how it happened by passersby. She's asked so often that Chii writes "Hit in the face by a basketball" on the cast with a marker.
    Yamada: Perfect.
    Kyōtarō: (Hardly.)
    • Even an English teacher asks if she's okay.
      English Teacher: What happened?
      Yamada: Ah, basuketto baaru! Bam!
      English Teacher: Oh, dear!
  • Coupled with heartwarming, Ichikawa awkwardly stumbles about leaving a tissue pack for Yamada. He thinks leaving just one would make her think that someone left it by accident, so he writes "Please use freely" on it with a marker. He thinks that comes across as a trap, so he leaves several packs on each table for her. He assuredly thinks of it as like service at a ramen restaurant.
  • Instead of wiping her tears as he expects her to, Yamada uses them as napkins when she's eating. Also mixed with heartwarming, since the gesture cheered her up.

Karte 19

Karte 26

  • Adachi, because of course he would, eagerly asks if authors base Accidental Pervert moments in manga on real examples of it.
    Editor: They do not.
Adachi: Then it's more like authors base it off of their real-life experiences and-
    Editor: No.
Ichikawa: (Seriously, I'm begging you to shut up already...)
  • After the study group finishes taking a tour of a Shonen magazine for a class assignment, Moeko is busy arguing with Adachi over him asking an editor about his question. Moeko finishes her thought saying an otherwise coolheaded woman being that easy to make herself vulnerable is just a slut at the end of the day. Unbeknownst to her, thanks to a manga artist needing to squeeze into their already tight elevator ride down, Ichikawa and Yamada are struggling with an Accidental Pervert moment of their own. They're pressed so close against one another that all it would take for them to hump each other is to try and wriggle free.
    • After snapping out of a Held Gaze with Ichikawa, Yamada skips out of the elevator while Ichikawa has to keep the doors from closing on him. In the anime, he gets caught between the doors at the exact moment he walks out lampshading the Accidental Pervert moment.

Karte 27

  • Mixed with Heartwarming; after getting left behind by their group at the transit, Ichikawa not only points out how he should have told everyone else that he was going to the bathroom, but that he should have made some "grand declaration". Yamada imagines him doing just that and laughs her butt off before noticing how far he’s sitting from her.
  • Yamada comforting Chii as the latter apologizes as group leader for leaving her and Ichikawa behind. Followed by what is seen as Yamada having the absolute gall to say this;
Yamada: It's okay. Everyone makes mistakes.
    Moe/Yoshida/Ichikawa: You're one to talk!!

Extras

    Volume 3

Karte 31

  • Moeko wants to get a boyfriend before Christmas and suggests the girls exchange LINE with the boys. Yamada’s eager to exchange with Ichikawa while Chii and Yoshida just stare at them giving apathethic affirmation.
    • Yamada goes over to ask Ichikawa’s desk for him, but they both stammer. Moeko interjects saying that a level 99 doesn't fight a slime.
      Ichikawa: (A slime…?)
    • Yamada has to remind Moeko of her own plan, which led to her exchanging with Ichikawa first. He’s actually delighted to share contacts until he sees Yamada quietly, murderously staring at them both from her desk.
  • Ichikawa only just realizing that Yamada was asking for his LINE at the start of the chapter while she was asking someone else in class. He stands up from his desk gasping in shock, startling everyone else.

Karte 35

  • Yamada looking mighty proud of herself for getting an above-average grade on her test.
Moe: Must be nice having such a low hurdle.
    • Followed by her getting praised for doing her homework.
Yamada: (doing a Dynamic Akimbo with “the ahem of hems” beside her.)
Chii: Must be nice getting praised for doing something so obvious.
  • Chii on the other hand didn’t do so well because of club activities and her getting tired later. Yamada notes that work’s been hard for her too in a manner that probably just looks smug, which grinds Chii’s gears.
Chii: WHAT!? DID YOU START DOING SHINKEN-ZEMI note  TOO!?
  • Yamada apparently told her that she studies in the library during lunch break, which led to Ichikawa helping Chii study. Much to both Yamada and Ichikawa's respective chagrin.
  • Chii assumes Yamada’s annoyed at the idea of her beating her score in the next test.
Chii: On the next test, I’m gonna beat Yamada!!
Ichikawa: (Man, that hurdle is damn low.)
  • Chii learned that Ichikawa is in the Data Processing club from none other than Yamada. Who, according to Chii, has been talking about him a lot. Chii picks up nothing from that from Yamada’s defensive response.
Chii: Lately you’ve been talking about Ichikawa-kun a whole-
Yamada: Heyy, I talk about lots of different people! Like Suwa-san, or Rika-chan, or Miku, or Naana.
  • Chii asks if Yamada’s done anything weird in the library.
    Ichikawa: N-not really... (Tons)
  • Chii then proceeds to gossip.
Chii: Wanna hear a Yamada-ass Yamada episode?
    Ichikawa: Sure...
  • Chii and Yamada were once walking through town eating crepes, and Yamada got some cream stuck next to her mouth. With her hands preoccupied with a bag and her crepe, and being unable to lick the cream off, Yamada comes up with the idea of wiping it off with the crepe.
    • The anime adds even more! By giving Yamada the most satisfied and confident smirk possible, as if she thinks she's an absolute genius. Along with giving Chii a disbelieving gasp that screams "She actually thinks this was a good idea!? How does her mind work!?"
  • The story actually makes Ichikawa chuckle. Chii is surprised enough by it that she moves up against him in excitement. Only for Yamada to wordlessly pull her away. And then insist that Ichikawa actually laughs a lot.
Yamada: Like when I showed him the cat mantis stamp. Or when I showed him the dog face switch.
Ichikawa: That was false laughter. (You sure remember a lot.)

Karte 37

  • Chii is home sick for today, so Yamada uses Moeko for her "replacement chair” without warning. Moe then casually gropes Yamada while chatting with Serina, immediately disqualifying herself as a chair (To her apathy).
  • The girls then make a “No touching” chart of Yamada’s body, basing it off of such for animals. The figure is initially androgynous, but Yamada added cute eyelashes for flavor.
  • Ichikawa warns Yamada to hide her candy when the school librarian comes by. He memorized the chart and mindfully taps her shoulder to get her attention. When he whispers in her ear, her face turns as red as a tomato, and she jumps off her chair and bonks her head against the window. Yamada later adds her ears to a revised chart (And they're almost as big as the figure's head), much to Ichikawa’s dismay.
Yamada: This is the revised version!
Moeko: I'm just not gonna touch you, period.
    Ichikawa: (I screwed up…)

Karte 38

  • Yamada comes across Ichikawa riding through the rain, having forgotten his raincoat. She pulls out just the thing from her bookbag; a grocery bag. Ichikawa’s face is screaming You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me! as she tries to put it on him. In the anime, she just dunks it on his head before he can say anything.
    Ichikawa: Cut it out.
Yamada: Ah, that’s right. Gotta put an eye-hole in.
    • Yamada then suggests riding with him on his bike so that her umbrella can cover both of them. Ichikawa advises against it for her safety, even though he really wants it to happen.

Karte 39

  • Kyōtarō wakes up with a fever, complete with fever dreams of Yamada, first her appearing as a giant and then another mini-version of her yelling from near his shoes.
Kyōtarō: Couldn't they at least have been sexy dreams of Yamada?'
  • Kyōtarō enjoys his sick day and alone at home on the couch. That is until he hears the door knob ring. Initially ignoring it, he decides to check after one too many rings. Then he goes from annoyed to rushing out the door when he sees that it was Yamada.
    • Upon waking from his earlier pass-out, he reaches out to clasp a hand stroking his face as he wakes up and says Yamada's name... only to find it belongs to his sister.
      Kana: Kyo-chan <3
      Kyōtarō: Gross!!
    • After the fever dream, Kyōtarō has trouble discerning if Yamada paying him a visit during his sick day was also a fever dream. Until he sees a crumpled "get better soon" note left by Yamada herself.

Karte 41

  • When the class starts changing seats, Ichikawa silently prays for Yamada to sit next to him. She ends up right ahead of him instead. And just when he finds solace in that, Adachi is up ahead next to her.
  • Yamada staying behind during class break, a bit miffed about Yamada taking notes from Hara in class.
    Chii: Yamadaaaa.
    Yamada: What?
Chii: What do you mean “what?” Why aren’t you coming over here?
    Yamada: YOU come over here.
    Chii: You a king!?
  • While Yamada starts jealously talking about how great Hara is, Ichikawa is thinking of a way to tell Yamada that she was blocking his view of the blackboard in class without bringing up her height. He starts with "I could only see you", unintentionally making her swoon. How he sounded only dawns on him just before he even mentions the board.
    • If one notices in the manga version during this moment, you can see Hara's shadow from behind the window at Ichikawa's side in two separate panels. And given the squiggly lines around the second shadow and her flustered reaction, she definitely heard what Ichi said.
  • After Hara tells their sensei about Ichikawa's situation in class, he and Yamada switch seats. Neither Adachi nor Ichikawa are happy about it.
    Ichikawa: Why?

Karte 42

  • Nanjou is at it yet again, inviting Yamada (With Chii shielding her) to play the newest “dead game”. Chii says that Yamada isn't too much of a gamer.
Chii: Our Yamada... as far as games go, Animal Crossing is the only one-
    Yamada: Eh, what’s that?
    Chii: Yeah, not even that.

Extras

  • A bonus chapter near Karte 33 has Ichikawa and Yamada try and measure each other's height in the school infirmary. They both struggle with the mechanism for the marker which seems to be stuck. Yamada opts to use her hand instead (with the added benefit of being an excuse to pat Ichikawa on the head), and whether out of defiance, self-consciousness with his own height or him dealing with very nearly getting a faceful of Yamada's bosom, Ichikawa slouches before she can get a read on his height.
    • Yamada then asks Ichikawa to measure her height. Considering she's already pretty tall on her own and just hopped on the scale's elevated platform, Ichikawa can't reach the height marker on his own.
Ichikawa: ... Lemme go grab a chair.
      Yamada: Meanie.
    • The marker finally loosens up... and bops Yamada on her head to her annoyance.
      Yamada: Jeez!
Ichikawa: You're just a few tics away from 172 cm. (How long do you intend on growing??)

    Volume 4

Karte 45

  • Ichikawa was supposed to meet Yamada in Shibuya at 2:00 pm, but arrived about 30 minutes early. He tells himself that he wanted to make sure it was the right place. It’s not like he was giddy or anything. Yamada also arrived early, apparently because she also wanted to make sure they had the right place.
    • Ichikawa's so surprised by her early arrival that he questions if it's actually her.
Ichikawa: Wait, is that really Yamada? (Yamada pulls out some food) That's Yamada.

Karte 46

  • Yamada has Ichikawa take a video of her eating pancakes. He scoffs at her eating the huge chunk she picks out and "showing it to all the humans on earth" (so he thinks) until she swallows it in one go.
Ichikawa: I forgot, but this is Yamada.
    • Yamada then sends the video to him. When she sees Ichikawa admiring it, she tries to flirt; holding his chin up and telling him to look at the "real thing". And then she sits back down in embarrassment. His coffee also gets spilled. (In the manga anyway.)

Karte 50

  • After his arm injury, Ichikawa sends Yamada a pic of him in a sling. She calls him in seconds after the messages on video to see if he's alright. While she's in her overalls. Ichikawa complains to himself that he's in no position to relieve himself today.
    • Once Yamada calms down, she takes one look at herself and zips up the jacket she's wearing.

Karte 51

  • Yamada adorably tries introducing herself to Kana over the video, flustered and keeping her jacket zipped up. All before Kyōtarō cuts her off in a panic.
  • To stave off any ideas, Kyōtarō tries telling Kana that having friends of opposite genders is normal, including for her.
Kana: (In the most unemotional face possible) I don't though?
    • Yamada calls him out for hanging up and sends a... cat-mantis sticker with a flaming aura to show her apparent annoyance... Which really just confuses Kyōtarō.
  • Kana suggests getting a matching pair of doggie keychains with her brother when he picks one up.
Kyōtarō: Huhh? There's no way I'd... ah! I will! Actually, I'll buy it!
    Kana: Eeeeeh...?
Kyōtarō: Why are you acting grossed out!?
  • Kana initially tries to gently, subtly dissuade her brother from pinning for a girl who's out of his league... until he reveals that girl's name is Yamada. Kana remembers the note that was left at their house when Kyōtarō was sick and realizes that the girl was Yamada; the writing on the note was so messy she thought it was a guy, so that's a shot towards Yamada's handwriting.
  • Kyōtarō assumed that Kana cheerfully would pester him for talking to a girl. Then he becomes somewhat disheartened when he deduces that she thinks he has no chance. Then his initial fear comes to life when Kana is sure that there's a spark and digs at him for details on their way home.

Karte 52

  • Yamada introduces her dog, Wantarou.
Yamada: This is Wantarou. A dog.
    Ichikawa: So it seems.
  • Ichikawa finds Wantarou adorable... until he starts barking at him. When Yamada says he's normally friendly, Ichikawa chalks it up to him having his biting instincts triggered from looking at his arm sling, thinking of police dog training.
    • Yamada tells Wan that Ichikawa's saying he's fit to be a police dog, and the dog huffs like he's proud and spoofs his owner's "ahem of hems" with "the woo-woof of woofs".
Ichikawa: I'm lucky, he's just like his owner.
  • Ichikawa trying to get Wantarou to do tricks. Each time Wantarou ignores him, Yamada does them instead in his place, including spinning around and sitting. Wantarou was going to shake his hand, but Yamada got to it first. Afterwards, the two are yet again stuck holding hands.
    • From looking at his reaction, even Yamada's dog seems weirded out by what she's doing.

Karte 56

  • Ichikawa heading up to his room to store his graduation album, and then realizing Yamada just casually followed him in there. Then she takes the album right out of his hands just as he's putting it back in his bookcase and keeps reading more of it on his bed. Much to his annoyance, she keeps it away from him when he seems to make a motion to grab it, leading to him sitting down and just dealing with it.
    • In the anime, Yamada only pulls the album to make room for him to sit. And when he does, she makes a pouty-face and bounces closer to him.
  • During the kabedon on his bed, Yamada is staring at Ichikawa's neck so hard that her blushing reaches her eyes.
  • Since he can't get up by himself, she slowly pushes him upright. Ichikawa is thinking to himself "I'm dead" with the color drained right out of him.
  • Yamada took the kabedon from him as a sign that she's looking too much and apologizes... before casually taking advantage of the daze Ichikawa's in, snapping pictures of his album with her phone and then running out of his room. Which snaps him out of it.

Extras

  • 47.1 has the students making portraits of each other in art class. Adachi turns over a cartoonish sketch of Ichikawa, in which the teacher actually sees the resemblance. On Ichikawa’s end, he seems to be drawing Adachi as either a zombie or just a rotting corpse.
    • Yamada and Hara are more in harmony with working with each other… at first. When Ichikawa compliments Hara's well-done portrait, Hara sees Yamada smiling and staring her down with a black aura emanating from her. Hara is quietly terrified while Ichikawa is still admiring the picture.
    • Yamada's expression and posture resemble Hara's portrait of her. Albeit much less sinister.
  • Ichikawa then points out that Hara missed the two moles on Yamada's neck. Hara loudly says he's right, likely to dissuade Yamada's anger. She starts blushing and covers her face with her portrait while Ichikawa recoils in embarrassment.
  • Back in the library, Yamada pulls her hair aside and flashes the side of her neck with her moles to Ichikawa, who just looks confused.

    Volume 5

Karte 58

Karte 62

  • Yamada invites Ichikawa over to her place so he can wash up and avoid the cold from the heavy snowfall. Repeatedly trying to calm himself down in the bathtub, Ichikawa wonders if he should try and reclaim his boxers so he doesn't have to go commando in whatever change of clothes Yamada offers, but keeps being startled by updates from Yamada who's leaving him this change of clothes (her gym sweatshirt and sweatpants) from the other side of the door. Ichikawa, in deadpan resignation, thinks to himself in silence:
Ichikawa: I just talked with her while touching my junk.
  • Ichikawa then steps out of the shower in Yamada's gym clothes, only to be ambushed by Wantarou who tugs on Yamada's sweatpants. Yamada manages to save Ichikawa and preserve his dignity, but not before awkwardly trying to help him pull her sweatpants up for him considering he still has an injured arm. She finally commands Wantarou to heel and sit, but Ichikawa decides to obey the command in Wantarou's stead to hide his boner.

Karte 63

  • Yamada anxiously wanders around her family's table while Ichikawa is seated. By the time Ichikawa asks if she’s gonna sit down, she sits right next to him.
  • On days when her mom’s late home, Yamada apparently eats a hot pot by herself before dinner.
    Ichikawa: Before dinner??
  • While the moment is mostly heartwarming, Yamada gets snot on Ichikawa while crying into his chest. Ichikawa’s wearing her jersey, so it’s no problem for him.

Karte 64

    Volume 6

Karte 77

  • Kyōtarō feebly denying to his sister that he and Yamada are going on a date and that they're just doing something before going to a movie. After a pause, Kana says that nothing about that is any different.
    • Kana may hypothetically get her hands on an oil magnate and become rich beyond belief, but the one thing she can't ever grasp... is an after-school date in uniform. So she says while taking an order from the two.
Yamada: I... I think it's a fine idea to have a date in a school uniform even when you're older!
      Kyōtarō: Don't encourage her.
    • Kana, gripping her brother's shoulders, tells him to thoroughly savor his "date" with a look of screaming envy. Kyōtarō says he's gonna give her 1 star on Tabelog in response.
  • Upon serving the two their food, Kana imparts Yamada with a blessing; Baki the Grappler style, the same one Yujiro gave to Baki's girlfriend Kozue right when they were in the middle of a sexy moment. Kana even invokes Yujiro's iconic pose. And Yamada has no idea what she's talking about since she doesn't read much manga in general.
Kana: And even when you're eating, be a woman who can't be eaten up.
    Yamada: ...Okay!
    Kyōtarō: Go away.
  • Yamada trying to eat Takoyaki in one go. She predictably burns her mouth. And this is after she says she's not good with Takoyaki.

Karte 78

  • The Popcorn Man. A.K.A Yamada holding a cup of popcorn to her face.

Karte 85

    Volume 7

Karte 93

  • Kana dresses up in a “party style” outfit for the occasion of Kyōtarō’s birthday. Then she learns that Yamada herself is a model. In one Delayed Reaction, Kana's good mood plummets.
Kana: I can't believe I went and got dressed like this…
    Kyōtarō: I know.

    Volume 8

Karte 100

  • Kobayashi thinking she got held back because her name wasn't on the class assignments. Serina has to drag her out of the teacher's office, kicking and screaming, after it's revealed he simply forgot.
  • Moeko wants to tell Kankan that her confession flash mob idea is overbearing and probably the reason the couple they did it to broke up over spring break, but she immediately changes her mind after imagining the kind of face Kyōtarō would make in that scenario.
Moeko: "No, Kankan, this flash mob thing..."
    Moeko: "It sounds fun."
  • Moeko literally catches Kyōtarō with his pants down and Anna on her knees in the most unfortunate, and hilarious, misunderstanding.
Moeko: "I'm not covering for you guys anymore!"

Karte 106

  • After the Mock Calvary Battle, the Sports Festival gets called early due to rain. In the nurse's office Adachi's mom is seen pampering Ichikawa with a bag of ice to his head much to Adachi's chagrin... and to Yamada's green eyed menace and Ichikawa's confusion.
    Adachi's Mom: There, there <3
Adachi: Ma, can we please go home, already?
