The Familiar of Zero

Points of Familiarity, by Charles Bhepin (Link)

  • Recommended by: Comartemis, Shay Guy, MAI 742, Willbyr
  • Status: Dead
  • Synopsis: On one end, a young mage who begged fate for something that would validate her reason for being. At the other, a young man who sought the desolation of his existence. Where they meet, is the terror that would shake the very foundations of magic.

Surrogate of Zero, by Charles Bhepin (link) (Discussion threads: 1, 2)

  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: Being a documentary of the interactions of Shinjicus Ikaricus Ineptus, in Helkeginia, the natural habitat of the Tsundere. Narrated by Langley-Sohryu, Asuka, PhD.
In other words: This is a rewrite of Points of Familiarity, taking a more comedic and less thoroughly dark angle but maintaining the overall spirit of its predecessor.

Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Evangelion, by Latw PIAT (discussion thread)

  • Recommended by: EarthScorpion, Dartz-IRL, Willbyr
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: An exceptionally well thought-out crossover, blending Evangelion with the gritty post-cyberpunk world of Ghost in the Shell. The author obviously knows his stuff, and has very skilfully performed a mythology transplant, cutting out the Judaeo-Christian Angels for Sumerian mythology, not to mention the fact that this Rei rather likes technology. Plus, it has Tachikomas, and Misato and the Major interacting. This is post-cyberpunk, pragmatic politicing, with only a slight tendency towards Technology Porn. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, after all.

Nasuverse

Evangel Notes: Requiem for a World, by AlfheimWanderer

  • Recommended by: Comartemis, Steve the Corn Muffin
  • Status: Dead
  • Synopsis: Second Impact didn't just cut the world's population in half, it also killed the World's ability to support life. Fifteen years later, Earth is dying and her children are fighting with tooth and nail not to die with her; the planet is tearing itself apart in its death throes, the atmosphere is flooded with "True Ether", a substance that is violently toxic to anyone born before Second Impact, birth rates are next to nothing and crops refuse to grow outside of specially-made agricultural geofronts. But things are about to take a turn for the worse, for even as the Angels begin to awaken from their aeons-long slumber in the watery depths, the last gasps of the dying world have reached the Aristoteles, vast and alien powers drifting in the void of space — beings without rules, without minds, without the concept of death itself, who come in response to Earth's last wish — that humanity, which slew her, might follow her into oblivion.

Solenoid Flux, by fallacies

  • Recommended by: Berix
  • Status: Dead
  • Synopsis: On the eve of the 4th War, the Berserker that Matou Kariya summons to his command is instead a boy hero from the End of Days.

Yui Ikari: Oh Sayaka, there's nothing wrong here. You just misjudged the genre!

RahXephon

Endgame by Revanant Dragoon

  • Recommended by: The Sun Emperor

Ranma ½

Paradise Lost by Andy Kent

I Do by Innortal

  • Recommended by: Cryptic Mirror
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: It's just a school assignment, pretend to live as a married couple, the standard stuff, learn how to prepare a budget, share chores that sort of thing. Teineina Tenshi no Teze by Fire

  • Recommended by: Fuzzy Boots

  • Synopsis: After a Bad End, Nabiki is able to get Ranma onto a certain Antarctic expedition to find an "Angel" of legend. Ranma accidentally causes Second Impact and next wakes up in Rei's body after the fourth angel has been defeated. Hilarity ensues as Ranma tries to make Rei a better human, Rei tries to reconcile Ranma with Gendo's orders, and they both narrowly escape discovery of their dual nature.

The Wild Horse Thesis by Lisa Grey (Crossover) (link)

  • Recommended by Inkki Bookman, Looney Toons, Axem Titanium
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Ranma/Asuka/Rei
  • Synopsis: Gosunkugi uses a magic spell to send Ranma into Neon Genesis Evangelion, where he expects Ranma to die a quick, messy death. Luckily for Ranma, Evangelion was one of his favourite shows. But what Ranma doesn't know is that Gosunkugi sent the Tendos the tapes of Ranma's life in Evangelion so they could watch his "demise".

Revolutionary Girl Utena

Shin Kakumei Evangelion/Neon Revolutionary Evangelion by Ashnod

  • Recommended by: anthiens, Koveras, Willbyr
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A cross-over between EVA and Revolutionary Girl Utena, it changes things so that each universe fits in the other. Miki and Shinji are good friends, Juri's one-sided crush is Asuka, etc. The writing is excellent and the changes make very good sense. It's a retelling from where Utena, rather than Shinji, has arrived at Tokyo-3 and Ohtori has been moved to the Geo-Front where all the Pilots go to school and learn fencing from Juri, where certain events ensue. Contrast with Hilarity Ensues.

The Superwomen of Eva Series, by Mike313 and orionpax09 (with canon submissions by The Rei-Fan and Archdruid-Sephiroth).

  • Recommended by: Ultra Sonic 007
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: Each of the female protagonists of Evangelion (Misato, Asuka, Rei, Ritsuko, Hikari, Mana, Mayumi, Mari...even Yui, Kyoko, and Naoko) become a superheroine from the DC and Marvel universes. Cue Took a Level in Badass, From Bad to Worse, and fetish appeal. Oh, and Hilarity Ensues. Series 1 is explicitly Marvel (which is almost-all orionpax09), whereas Series 2 (which is mostly handled by Mike 313) is strictly DC. The most prominent and more popular story is:

Last Child of Krypton by Chuckman

  • Recommended by: Duder Skanks, Mach Rider 1985
  • Status: Complete (both original story and rewrite)
  • Synopsis: A different Shinji Ikari arrived at Tokyo 3. One calm, well-adjusted, reassured, and... wearing glasses?!? And who's that mysterious caped individual flying around fighting Angels? Seele and the Angels might not be the only things to worry about this time...

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Valkyrie and The Crisis of Infinite Shinjis by Chuckman

  • Recommended by: Marusaia
  • Status: Complete, Complete
  • Synopsis: Starring Asuka Soryu von Doom, Hikari Horaki, the Amazing Spider-Girl, Mari Potts-Stark, the Invincible Iron Maiden, and featuring Shinji Ikari, Master of Magnetism. The Angels are still descending on Earth, Seele still plots Instrumentality in the shadows, but something is different in this world. This will not go as easily for the characters as "Last Child of Krypton" did, but this troper expects it to be even better. Also expect a love octagon, as per Marvel Universe standards, and no set pairings.

Shinji Ikari Amazing Spider Man by GainaxVel3o

  • Recommended by: Spence 95
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Crossover with: Spider-Man
  • Synopsis: "Though the world may mock Shinji ikari, the timid teenager… it will soon marvel at the awesome might of Spider-Man!"
  • Comments: This author decided to do something risky and show Shinji becoming Spider-Man before he goes to Tokyo-3, going into his life before he became an Eva pilot. And the first story arc ended in a major Tearjerker because The Green Goblin just destroyed half the city, including some of his friends.

The Matrix

The Evangelion Matrix and the sequel The Eva Matrix Regurgitated by sentinel28

  • Recommended by: Dragon Quest Z
  • Status: Complete and dead (respectively)
  • Synopsis: Otakus were so upset by End of Evangelion, that US censors were able to round anime characters up and put them in a simulation of Evangelion. Then Eva and other anime characters act out roles from The Matrix.
    • Shinji — Neo
    • Asuka — Trinity
    • Gendo — Morpheus
    • Sailor Moon — Agent Smith

Evangelion: Rapture by Lara Bartram (also found, with better formatting, here)

  • Recommended by: Mythic Fox
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Following End of Evangelion's goo-ification of humanity, everyone's souls have come together to form a shared world based on what came before. But some of the people who were part of Third Impact, like most of the NERV crew, have begun reconstituting themselves out of the sea of LCL through sheer force of will and use scavenged equipment to free others. But the only one who can drive off the remaining Angels meant to finish off humanity once and for all is the boy who started Third Impact, Shinji Ikari.
    • Where The Matrix has humanity trapped in a virtual world maintained by the machines, Evangelion: Rapture has humanity trapped in a world formed by the collective consciousness of the people who got melted into LCL. Shinji takes on the story's role of Neo to fight against the Angels — particularly Tabris — who serve the role of Agents. The story, written before Reloaded and Revolutions, unintentionally predicts one of Reloaded's later plot twists.

Sic Semper Morituri by Daniel Jess Wilson

  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: Another take on the H.P. Lovecraft fusion, only from a different angle and with Time Travel and a few extra crossover elements — Ranma ½, Ah! My Goddess — to leaven the mix. Oh, and it's set immediately after World War II in a very Alternate Universe. Incomplete but far from abandoned — the latest installment in this setting came out in late Spring 2009. The authors seem to be running two parallel storylines at the moment: the "main" one, and an extensive exploration of Asuka and Jeff's time trapped in the version of Nerima from which their amnesiac Ranma came, which itself turns out to be a megacrossover world incorporating (at the very least) Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo!, Cardcaptor Sakura and Urusei Yatsura. ((Although the latter two appear relegated entirely to "off-screen" appearances.)

  • Synopsis: Double crossover with The Dark Tower and Star Wars. In a complicated plan to resurrect the Crimson King, the Man in Black uses Leliel's Dirac Sea to send Shinji and Unit 01 to Hoth during the attack on the Rebel base there. Leliel doesn't take too kindly to this, and transports the Rebel ship Occulous to Tokyo-3 in defiance. Shinji is adopted by Darth Vader as his new apprentice, while NERV attempts to deal with a ship of honest-to-God aliens landing in their city. And that's just the beginning.

Blackmail Simon the Digger, Roger Smith, Bit Cloud, Van of Fanelia, and Shinji Ikari to join forces and fight them! This was either an awesome or a really bad idea!" The setting is NGE! Earth (with a LOT of modifications), since the Second Impact still occurred and Shinji is the protagonist.

  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "A single moment of despair births parallel infinities. So long as the sun, moon, and stars exist, we will endure. So long as there is one more breath to be taken, there is always hope. The absolute enemy is coming, and Shinji Ikari must assemble the greatest force of heroes the universe has ever seen to prevent the destruction of everything that ever was or ever will be." Takes place after Last Child of Krypton. The alternate versions of the different characters are easy enough to keep track of despite a large cast. Also Optimus Prime becomes a Green Lantern.
