Sector 2814

Mars

    In General

    J'onn J'aarkn/John Jackson/Martian Womanhunter
A martian biologist that came to earth decades ago and fell in love with the concept of sex.
  • Ascended Extra: In the comics, he was a one-panel character, a clearly human man painted green and trying to hit on female members of the Justice League. Here, he's a full-blown martian with an entire story arc about him.
  • Ascended Fanboy: He became a big fan of Earth after hearing stories about it from Martian Manhunter during his first return to Mars. He became so enamored that he outright shipped himself to Earth.
  • Boldly Coming: He makes it a career and lifestyle choice to sleep with as many humans as possible. It's pointed out that Humans appeal to him in a way that Martians don't.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: While he is a huge sleazebag, he does have a point that M'gann would need his notes on human shapeshifting if she wants to improve her capabilities from someone who knows how Martian shapeshifting works. And she'll need it if she ever wants to get physically intimate with humans.
    • He also makes a valid point that M'gann doesn't have valid paperwork either, so she's probably only allowed here because her uncle vouches for her.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He loves to have sex with any consenting person or otherwise mess with them, but even he refuses to have anything to do with Sonic Sally.
  • Hidden Depths: He used to be a biology teacher and took extensive notes and studies on human culture and how to shapeshift himself into a variety of humans. He also ends up having extensive notes on the civil rights movement, bringing it to his home planet.
  • The Illegal: J'aarkn lived in U.S. for years without any legal documentation.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: He constantly flirts with everyone and makes innuendos to either charm them or get under their skin. He is also good friends with all of his co-workers.
  • Power Perversion Potential: He uses his shape-shifting and mind-reading powers to spice up his adult film career.
  • Pun: He's an illegal alien: in the sense that he's from Mars but also that he entered the U.S. illegally.
  • Shapeshifting Seducer: Makes a point to look like whatever his target are most attracted to.
  • Undead Tax Exemption: His arc is an aversion of this: the Department of Homeland Security is trying to deport him back to Mars and needs the help of the Team to make it stick.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: J'onn J'aarkn is particularly skilled in shapeshifting.

    K'hym J'onzz
J'onn's daughter and a Manhunter herself.

    Prince J'emm
A martian prince who OL goes to see in order to decide what to do with the information he possesses.
  • Playing with Fire: He can do molecular destabilization well enough to light his hand on fire for a time.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He took the time to speak with Orange Lantern and listened to his input on the Burning Martian issue once proof was provided without the assertive nature of the other martians seen so far.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Unlike the Red Martian J'onn reported to, who sat on the information of the Burning Martian, he decides to bring it to the royal conclave.
  • Sole Survivor: In the Renegade timeline, he is the only high ranking Red Martian to survive Karmang's assassination attempt.

    S'yrra
Prince J'emm's assistant.

    Ma'alefa'ak
A martian wildlife preservationist and M'gann's uncle.
  • Death of Personality: His original identity was erased because of the severity of his crimes, but K'hym J'onzz ended up reminding him. It gets removed later on again.
  • Evil Feels Good: Why his original self did cruel things.
  • Fake Memories: The current personality of his was a fabrication, done solely because they wanted him to pay his debt back to society.
  • Hidden Depths: He can't use most martian-based technology since he lacks telepathy. On the other hand, he can live on the surface without the fear of being alone from the minds of others, learned how to emote better with body language, and use Earth-based technology.
  • I Hate Past Me: Upon being brought back to how he was in the present, Ma'alefa'ak both hates and fears the monster he was.
  • Telepathy: Averted in that he was born without the ability to use it. This prevents others from connecting to his mind, stops him from using Martian technology, and since there is a telepathic component to having children, he's effectively sterile. However, once his telepathic neutering comes undone, he gets full-powered and vicious with it to Mind Rape levels.
  • That Man Is Dead: Both personalities consider one another dead.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Paul notes that his shapeshifting is remarkably human in terms of body language.

    B'enn B'lanx
A White Martian activist who wants equality for all White Martians.
  • Grey-and-Gray Morality: He is fine with using violent means to achieve his ends, but is also fine with non-violent means, so long as they actually get results. Given that his goal is equality for White Martians, and that Red and Green Martians in his city are particularly discriminatory towards Whites compared to other cities, this isn't entirely unjustified.

Hyperclan

A Martian terrorist group who wish to overthrow Red Martian supremacy.
    Karmang
A White Martian who has existed since the Guardians altered the martian race.
  • The Ace: He was the one who introduced magic to the Red Martians. As such, he is far superior to them in magic casting.
  • Evil Sorcerer: Works for the Hyperclan and is a magic-user.
  • Irony: He is the Martian that helped create the caste system as it is today by teaching the earliest Red Martians magic, the very same caste system that labels him as a lesser being.
  • The Magnificent: He is apparently remembered as Karmang the Good.
  • Older Is Better: Karmang is both the first and greatest magic user in martian history.
  • Teleportation Rescue: Uses a Smoke Out variation of a teleport spell to save Z'üm from OL.
  • Villain Has a Point: He has some valid grievances with the Red elite, especially since he is the reason they became the elite in the first place.

    Z'üm
A member of the White Martian Hyperclan that appears in Demeanor.

    Fluxus
A member of the White Martian Hyperclan that appears in Demeanor.

    Tronix

  • Shock and Awe: Capable of creating red lightning.

    Devlos Unglos
An infamous pirate and mass murderer.
  • Arch-Enemy: He was the greatest enemy of Abin Sur.
  • The Dreaded: He was the most infamous criminal to come from the sector in recent history.
  • Hate Sink: No one, not even the people who worked for him, like him.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: He wants to kill as much as possible.

  • By the Power of Grayskull!: They can combine to create Infinity-Man by saying "TARRU!"
  • Hollywood Tactics: The Renegade observes that they aren't very skilled in combat, relying entirely on their abilities, which they think is enough for "primitives". If they do run into opposition, they immediately resort to forming Infinity-Man.

    Orion
The biological son of Darkseid, adoptive son of Highfather, and the New God of the Glory of War.
  • Fatal Flaw: Orion is constantly fighting his inner rage and works on keeping it contained in order to prevent himself from becoming a berserker.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Orion has anger issues and tends to look down on lesser beings, but he is a true hero who does what's right.

The New God of Assassination and the top assassin of Darkseid.
  • Affably Evil: He's a loyal follower of Darkseid and a merciless assassin, but he's quite polite, even as he tries to kill you.
  • Agent Peacock: Dresses like a man from around the Renaissance. Justified, as he actually lived on Earth during that time and picked up the local fashion.
  • Backstory: Paul gives a summary of Kanto's in Episode 39: Black Reign.
  • Beard of Evil: Has a goatee. Invoked, as Darkseid ordered him to grow one after he became the latest Kanto.

    Granny Goodness
The New God of Child Abuse. She is in charge of educating the young on Apokolips.
  • Evil Old Folks: Her job is to break the minds of the denizens of Apokolips, preferably as children. She also looks like an evil grandmother.
  • Would Hurt a Child: This is her entire shtick. She tortures children so that they will become living tools for Darkseid.

    Knockout
The New God of Thuggery and one of the Furies. She was selected by the Renegade to act as Lynne's bodyguard/enforcer.
  • Blood Knight: She loves to fight and tries to start one any chance she gets.

    Finality Man
A corrupted Infinity Man who now serves Apokolips.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Due to the Forever People being spooked by Paulphidian, they didn't get to meet the heroes of Earth, leading to their capture and Infinity Man's corruption into Finality Man.

Almerac

    In General
A planet whose inhabitants are known for their martial culture and psychic abilities.

    Maxima
The Empress of Almerac who comes to Earth to look for a mate.
  • Blood Knight: She loves to fight and her preferred method of finding a mate is looking for a strong man, beating him in combat, and then drag him back home for the marriage ceremony and honeymoon.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: After the Renegade explains that she should find a mate with complementary virtues, like doing administrative work that she finds tedious, Maxima realizes that she can just marry her secretary Sazu, since Maxima likes her well enough and Sazu already does the administrative work Maxima dislikes.
  • Irony: Maxima wanted to find a mate, and preferred a strong male one. However, thanks to some advice from the Renegade, she realizes that her secretary, who's a woman and a non-combatant, is the perfect mate for her.
  • Love at First Punch: Tried to invoke this by finding strong men and challenging them to see if they are worthy to be her husband.

    Sazu
Maxima's loyal advisor. She later becomes Maxima's consort in the Renegade timeline.

  • Off with His Head!: This is how he dies in the Renegade timeline.

Wombworld

    In General
The homeworld of the Psions, a species of amoral scientists who were inadvertently created by the Maltusians.
  • Guilt-Free Extermination War: The Psions are as hated as much as the Citadelians. As such, the various factions in the Vega Systems teamed up to render them extinct. Paul can't say that he cared that much about what happened to them more than how it was done.
  • Mad Scientist: This is their hat.
  • Smug Snake: They honestly think that the Maltusians is the only species that is their superior when it comes to intelligence and advanced technology.

Thanagar

Havania

    Bleez
A thanagarian princess who aspires to be a singer.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Bleez is Havanian in the comics. In this story, Havania 16 is a planet in the Thanagarian Empire, making her a member of the Thanagarian species.
  • Body Paint: Bleez wears blue skin paint for fashion.
  • Femme Fatale Spy: Bleez is working with Thanagar High Command to get more info out of Paul. However, Paul knows that she's doing this, and she only does it to not give the military an excuse to put her in prison.
  • Hidden Depths: Underneath her perky personality and tendency to rebel against her mother, Bleez genuinely wants to improve her world and the lives of the ones who live on it.
Jade: What is it you want to do?
Bleez: Abolish all legal restrictions on the aboriginals. Increase the size of our civilian economy and start trading outside the Empire. Remove travel restrictions so that all the dispossessed of the Empire can come here. Develop an actual culture outside of military service. And marry a man who wants the same things as I do and wants to change the Thanagarian Empire into something less brutal. Because it's really brutal. I mean, you saw Downside, but you only saw a bit of Downside and there's a lot more to it than that. They actually dump prisoners from the newer colonies there, did you know that? Any of the aliens who do something wrong gets taken away from their home and dumped Downside with no way back.
Paul: And you want to fix it?
Bleez: I just want to fix my little bit of it.
  • Rebellious Princess: Rather than stay at home and find a husband like her mother wants, she wants to see the universe as a singer.

Controllers

    In General
  • Control Freak: It's in the name. They wish to control everything.
    • This is later subverted in Episode 115: A Waltz in Orange and Green after Hinon explains to Paul the Controllers' philosophy.
Paul: (after Hinon's initial answer) You control yourself.
Hinon: And rather well. We control what we need to control. When some fool starts poking holes in the universe, we stop them. If someone like the Anti-Monitor tries to destroy it, we will stop them.
Paul: The Reach… Aren't doing that. They're just killing people.
Hinon: If they were 'just' killing people, the Controllers would have even fewer recruits than we do now. They are entirely exterminating species. Worse, they're such a monoculture and have such genetic and cultural control that they are unlikely to ever be other than as they are now. They won't make anything to replace what they're removing.
Paul: So the difference between you and the Guardians is..?
Hinon: The Guardians want to maintain a constant presence. Shepherding civilisations and ensuring that they are always seen as benevolent deities. We Controllers do not. Our preference is to maintain absolute control of certain situations and ignore everything else.
Paul: Not to be in control of everything.
Hinon: Ideally, we would be in control; we simply wouldn't have to exercise it most of the time. Androids sounded like they would be ideal for that purpose. But they were not.
Paul: How would..? I mean, how is what you want your Corps to be different from what the Guardians want?
Hinon: For us, the most important thing is to have the ability to intervene with overwhelming power in particular instances. Assigning Lanterns to Sectors would be a sort of… Training, for when we need them to do something that's actually significant. For the Guardians, Sector Lanterns are the point: constantly nudging things back into order.

Independent Maltusians

    Draan Del Daar
An artist who has knowledge on the red light.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Becomes this after getting his rage back, as he decides to use Erdammeru to wipe out Maltus.

Clickers

    In General

  • Abusive Parents: He created his clone son seemingly so that he could have an assistant who could even remotely understand his own thought processes, ensured that he would be inferior to himself, and experimented on him when needed/convenient before ultimately abandoning him to the Computer Tyrants he left in charge of Colu.
  • Brain Uploading: He uploaded his mind into a new body.
