     As a whole
  • Badass Crew: Starts off as one of the strongest guilds in the game with a total of less than 20 users and some powerful NPC. Upgrades to Badass Army when Peak Sword merges his 200 man guild with theirs.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: They are all experts in their respective classes and very powerful, but they've all got some serious screws loose.
  • Character Level: The Overgeared Guild consists of many high level players. A large majority of them, such as everyone from the Tzedakah Guild, are within the Top-100 on the unified player rankings.
  • True Companions: They may love to bicker, argue, and give each other grief, but they are always there for each other through thick and thin.
  • We Do the Impossible: If there's something bothering you that nobody else can deal with, and you manage to gather their support, they will triumph, especially when Grid takes to the stage. In the [Golem Invasion] event, Giant Guild was utterly flattened, and over 100,000 high level knights from the Eternal Kingdom couldn't do squat. When Grid rushed over to the capital, as a quest to rescue his father-in-law, Earl Steim, with what was then Tzedakah guild following close behind, they managed to rescue the capital city, then after reorganizing into Overgeared Guild, with Grid in charge, with a population of less than 20, completely owned the golem army, including the "invincible" ancient weapons. It's only when said ancient weapons started whipping out an Adaptive Ability and Defeat Equals Explosion that the guild started to struggle, and even then they were still victorious.

     Jishuka

I will strike down anyone who dares lay hands on my guild!
Click here for Jishuka's first appearance in the manhwa.
Click here for Jishuka's novel illustration.

The beautiful leader of the 17-member Tzedakah Guild that have been playing together since the days of L.T.S., and Satisfy's #1 Archer class player. Jishuka is the first to scout out Grid to craft the guild's gear after she notices and buys from the auction house the first ever Epic-rated [Special Jaffa Arrows] that were crafted by him. However, Grid remained an unknown at the time, which results in Jishuka mistaking Euphemina as the blacksmith she was looking for when she hears of the Mero Company blacksmith competition. The guild's top assassin, Faker, is defeated in a fight against Euphemina when they try to confront her, which Jishuka swears vengeance.

While tracking down Euphemina, her guild mate, Regas, makes contact with Grid trying to help him recover his stolen Legendary-rated [Perfect Divine Shield]. The result is Jishuka and the rest of her guild winding up in a raid battle with the Yatan Church's 6th Servant, Malacus. It is during this boss raid that Grid notices her using his [Special Jaffa Arrows] and thanks her for buying them. At this point, she realizes Grid is the guy she's been looking for, and when Grid, of all people, winds up taking down the boss, she concludes that she must get him into their guild and have him upgrade their gear, whatever it takes.

  • Ambiguously Brown: The only thing we know about her ethnicity is that she comes from Brazil. Everything else is still up in the air.
  • Art Evolution: As can be seen in the page images. Her most recent appearance is far closer to her original web-novel hi-res art than her initial appearance.
  • Character Level: Around the time of the Malacus raid, Jishuka was mentioned to be the 19th highest level player in the unified player rankings.
  • Enlightened Self-Interest: She is good and kind to Grid because his smith talents are mission critical for the guild to continue prospering.
  • Fiery Redhead: She's red-headed and is loud, hot-blooded, and her special attack involves an arrow of pure flames.
  • I Have Boobs, You Must Obey!: Averted. She once tries to tempt Grid into doing her a favor by bending over low enough that he can see right down her cleavage. Unfortunately for her, by this time he was already married and faithful to Irene, so he doesn't even notice and angrily shoos her out of the smithy so he can get to work.
  • Hopeless Suitor: By the time she starts to develop feelings for Grid, he's already in a faithful relationship with someone else.
  • I Will Find You: After spotting the Epic-rated [Special Jaffa Arrows] in the auction house, it becomes her goal to find the unknown blacksmith (Grid) who crafted them, and recruit said blacksmith into the Tzedakah Guild before he/she is swooped up by some other guild. Thus, she quickly orders her fellow guild members to begin the search. She eventually succeeds.
  • The Leader: Jishuka's the leader of the 17-member Tzedakah Guild that have been playing together since the days of L.T.S. (the most popular game before the days of Satisfy). She slides into the role of Supporting Leader after her Tzedakah Guild folds into Grid's guild, and he becomes their new overall leader.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: Her initial meeting with Grid is basically the two of them arguing like children over who is more desperate for Regas' help. Grid needing him to help search for his stolen [Perfect Divine Shield], or Jishuka needing Regas to help the guild locate the potential unknown blacksmith (not knowing that it's the Grid person right in front of them).
  • Master Archer: She's the #1 Archer of Satisfy to the point of people calling her an expert, and has the strength and skills to back up said status.
  • Mean Boss: She is loud, abrasive, and often makes death-threats to make her guild members bend to her will, but they are loyal to her because she watches over them, and because they know that she only yells at them in an effort to bring out the best of their capabilities.
  • A Mother to Her Men: She may be loud and threatening, but when push comes to shove, she will avenge her guild-mates, whatever it takes, and looks out for their well-being.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She is one of the two top attractive female users of Satisfy and isn't afraid to flaunt it. The other is Yura, the #5 top player in the world.
  • Mundane Utility: At one point, she has to use her trump card so Grid can use the flames like a furnace to forge a lock-pick. She was not happy having to do this.
  • Playing with Fire: Her trump card "phoenix arrow" manifests as a huge arrow of flames.
  • Properly Paranoid: For a long time, she was firmly insistent that the Tzedakah guild should not accept new recruits, for several good reasons. In the aftermath of the most recent skirmish with Giant Guild over Grid, she loosens the restrictions and brings in several promising recruits. Among them, three of them are spies and saboteurs, Box, Black Teddy, and Asuka. Although she never heard about it, the three spies are directly responsible for nearly causing a major rift in the guild between several key members.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She backs up Grid's requests as well as she can because they're not unreasonable and he does need her support to fulfill the crafting requests her guild is giving him.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: In order to keep Malacus' focus off Grid, Jishuka goes about taunting the former. She calls out Malacus for being incompetent and weak for not managing to kill her and her guild with the powerful dark magic attack that he just used against them, and that thanks to the information they've gathered, he's actually the weakest of Yatan's Eight Servants. The badmouthing is enough to turn Malacus red in anger.
  • Revenge Myopia: She once tries to hunt down Euphemina for beating up on Faker when he's the one who antagonized Euphemina first. Fortunately, she gives up the grudge when she encounters and manages to recruit Grid to her guild and have him upgrade their gear.
  • The Rival: Has rivalries with several people.
    • Her overall Tzedakah Guild is this towards the Giant Guild having gone up against them since the days of the L.T.S. game that came before Satisfy. The Giant Guild's Chris in particular is Jishuka's primary rival given that they're both guild leaders.
    • She and Yura eventually start to compete over Grid's affections in the real world.
  • World's Most Beautiful Woman: She's viewed as such amongst the masses. Particularly when it comes to Brazilian women.
  • You Never Did That for Me: Much more pronounced in the light novel than the manhwa, but Jishuka nearly goes crazy in the Target Processing event in the first national competition where, after totally ignoring Jishuka for days and not responding at all, Grid suddenly shows up and saves Yura, making Jishuka stop dead and demand her teammate tell her which of them he thinks is prettier.

     Regas
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/regas.png

The Tzedakah Guild's second strongest member, and the #1 Martial Artist class player of Satisfy. Regas is an all-around Nice Guy, and because he's a taekwando expert, he chooses to fight either with metal knuckles or no weapons at all. Regas is introduced coming to Grid's defense from people accusing Grid of attempting to sneak into the Guardian of the Forest raid near Bairan Village by pretending to be a strong player. He comes across Grid again in Winston Village during a time when the guild was searching for the unknown blacksmith that forged the Epic-rated [Special Jaffa Arrows], which he sees that Grid has become depressed after his Legendary-rated [Perfect Divine Shield] had been stolen away by a Yatan supporter. Thus, Regas decides to help out Grid once more by helping him find his lost shield; not knowing that he's actually helping the unknown blacksmith his guild is looking for.

  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Has the Penetration Skill when striking enemies with his fists, which is implied to be a strike that bypasses defenses.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Usually fights with no weapons, but if pressed, can equip metal knuckles.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Regas is not the smartest fellow, and is very easy to fool when it comes to asking him for help, but he makes up for it by kicking peoples butts as a martial artist.
  • The Cape: Given his Nice Guy persona, Regas will go out of his way to help those that are in dire need. He will even ignore the current objectives provided by his guild if he happens to come across someone in trouble.
  • Character Level: At the time of the Malacus raid, Regas is mentioned to be 2nd highest level Tzedakah member after Jishuka, and is within the Top-30 of the unified player rankings, which put him somewhere between Jishuka (19th) and Pon (23rd).
  • Distressed Dude: During the raid battle against Malacus, Regas ends up being taken hostage after said video-game boss strikes him with 5 black spears that keep him immobilized.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Grid trying to join the Guardian of the Forest raid near Bairan Village definitely highlighted Regas' Nice Guy persona. Toban and Vantner remained suspicious of Grid trying to get in when he was not revealing his level (he was level -3 at the time), which also started to anger all the other players who were about to take part in the raid. However, Regas stepped in to defend Grid, and even made it clear that Grid's allowed to join. In the end, Grid decided to back out knowing that he didn't have anyone else's trust, but that didn't stop Regas from hoping to see Grid again somewhere down the line.
  • Extremity Extremist: Since he's the Martial Artist class, a lot of Regas' skills rely on him using his body parts, such as his arms and legs, to deal damage to his opponents.
  • Foreign Culture Fetish: He is British, but favors Korean cuisine and Asian martial arts. In the aftermath of the first yearly Satisfy Olympic games, he is among the first of the users to move to South Korea and build fund the creation of an apartment complex just so he can live near Grid.
  • Fun Personified: He tends to be the funnest and easygoing person to be around when it comes to the Tzedakah Guild.
  • Good Is Not Soft: He's a sweetheart, but mess with his friends and he won't hesitate to beat you to death.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: After being saved by Grid during the Malacus raid, he shows a tad of envy towards the former because despite Grid still being an unknown at the time, he's already displaying greatness in front of many people who are high Rankers, including Regas.
  • Honor Before Reason: His Nice Guy antics tend to get in the way of being reasonable.
    • If someone is in need of help, or a villain needs to be brought to justice, Regas will ignore his current objective to perform such deeds, even if it means that he has to put aside the goals of his guild.
    • He refuses to use weapons outside of very limited circumstances, like the official Satisfy Olympic tournament, where weapon use is sanctified by the competition rules.
  • I Choose to Stay: Given his competitive nature, Regas will choose to not run. He will stick around to continue fighting even if it's looking like they're not going to win.
  • In-Series Nickname: He became known as the "Taekwon Master" amongst the players due to his taekwando skills.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Due to his lack of intelligence when it comes to planning ahead, Regas tends to just charge in right away and begin fighting without any plan. One example is when he suddenly charged at a group of Yatan supporters during the search for Grid's stolen [Perfect Divine Shield].
  • Nice Guy: He's without a doubt one of the nicest people this series has to offer. If someone needs help, or justice needs to be served, he will drop everything he's currently doing to go and solve said issues.
  • Powerful, but Incompetent: He's one of the Tzedakah Guild's top fighters, 2nd highest even in terms of level, but lacks somewhat in the intelligence department, which almost always gets in the way of the goals set by his guild. This usually results in Regas going off and doing his own thing, which can sometimes get on guild leader Jishuka's nerves. Later on when he's held captive by Malacus and tries to explain to Pon and Vantner that he just wanted to fight someone who looked strong for the sake of his training, they both end up viewing Regas as an idiot, and just order him to die.
  • Power Palms: He has the Force Palm Skill, which is striking enemies with the palm of his hand.
  • Pretty Boy: So much so that he's said to be a complete heartthrob amongst the women. The fact that he's always shirtless, which shows off his huge muscles, helps a lot.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The energetic Nice Guy Red to Grid's depressed Blue as the two of them go about working together to search for Grid's Legendary-rated [Perfect Divine Shield] that was stolen by a Yatan supporter.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: He puts his quest to find "the mysterious blacksmith" on hold to help Grid recover his Legendary-rated [Perfect Divine Shield]. Just so happens Grid is the "mysterious blacksmith" his guild tasked him to find, and helping him in his hour of need is bound to score points to help win him over.
  • Roundhouse Kick: He has the Gale Attack Skill, which appears to be striking enemies with kicks that are enhanced with the wind-attribute.
  • Skilled, but Naive: He's a powerful user, but he's very easy to exploit.
  • Spirited Competitor: He fights strong foes purely for the thrill of the challenge, and calls it "training."
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Constantly.

     Faker

The #1 Assassin class player of the Tzedakah Guild who's considered to be a genius. Faker proved his ability and intellect by becoming the best Assassin in the game after playing in Satisfy for just 8 months. He's introduced getting in a fight with Euphemina when the guild believed that she was the potential great blacksmith that they were looking for. However, Faker ends up dying to her due to being caught off-guard by her Duplicator class, which results in Jishuka and the guild swearing vengeance on her. Once Grid officially joins their guild and their beef with Euphemina is put to rest, Faker continues fighting from the shadows as one of Grid's main supports.

  • Big Damn Heroes: He tends to pull this often as that invisible member of the guild who will remain in hiding, but will go in to protect his teammates if such a need arises. During the Malacus raid, Faker blocked a black magic spear attack from reaching Grid and Regas as they were escaping from danger.
  • Doppelgänger Attack: He has a cloning Skill where at least a dozen of himself can attack the enemy at once.
  • Dual Wield: Seen fighting with daggers, which makes sense considering his Rogue-like Assassin class. He also has the ability to throw said daggers at enemies.
  • Fragile Speedster: Faker's a really fast and skilled Assassin player, but doesn't seem to have much durability as he actually didn't last all that long in his fight with Euphemina.
  • Having a Blast: One of his daggers is said to have a hidden ability to explode upon impact.
  • Invisibility: Common to rogue classes, Faker has the Stealth Skill to remain invisible while moving.
  • Ninja: A lot of his game characteristics is basically that of a ninja.
  • Ninja Log: He has a skill to make a body decoy of himself that takes all the damage while he gets away completely unharmed, such as making a copy of himself to take all the damage of one of Euphemina's copied fire spells.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Faker is based on Lee Sang-hyeok, a real life South Korean gamer who's a professional at League of Legends.
  • Professional Killer: His Assassin class. Faker is basically a rogue player who's really good at killing people.
  • The Smart Guy: One of the more intellectual fighters of the guild. Faker's mentioned to be a genius to the point that he rose up to the #1 spot for the Assassin class after playing Satisfy for just 8 months.
  • The Sneaky Guy: Faker fills the role of being the Guild's damaging dealing rogue character that sneaks around in Stealth to kill people from the shadows.
  • Speed Echoes: His movements tend to leave behind afterimages. Possibly a result of an Assassin skill as Euphemina is shown doing this as well when she chooses to copy one of Faker's movement skills during their duel.
  • Super-Speed: Possibly a result of his Assassin skills, Faker's able to move really quickly to the point of leaving behind afterimages. Faker is so fast that he was able to swipe off Euphemina's disguise hat when she was pretending to be "Erina" before she could even react.
  • Stealth Expert: A lot of his Assassin and rogue skills play into this. Not to mention that he's the #1 Assassin.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: Has the ability to throw his daggers at enemies.

     Toban
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toban.png
Stop fighting, he's a guild mate!

A Tzedakah Guild member who is the #1 Paladin class player, which makes him tank support for his guild mates. In addition, Toban serves as the guild's chief of staff, and is a member of the Judar Church. Due to initially being rude to Grid when the latter tried to join the Guardian of the Forest raid at Bairan Village, Grid decides to put him last on the que of equipment upgrades. By sheer coincidence, Toban's class quest puts him at odds with Grid's class quest due to the fact that Grid wound up looting the armor set that Toban's pope wanted to acquire.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the original novel, he's listed as having black hair. In the manhwa, he's illustrated as blonde.
  • Ambiguously Brown: It's never truly explained why his game avatar within Satisfy is darker skinned compared to everyone else.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": He tries to dupe Grid by pretending he's under Box's control, but his actions are so hammy and over the top that he doesn't fool anyone.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: Grid was already pissed at him for being attacked without provocation by Asuka, Black Teddy, and Box, and Toban's attempts to stop the fight failed epically. So when Toban offers to buy the armor set, at a ridiculously lowballed amount, refusing to budge, Grid gives up all thoughts of further negotiation and pulls out all the stops, killing Asuka, Box, and Black Teddy, and then extorting Toban into working for him, for free.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Given that he's a Paladin tanker, Toban's usually seen using a shield.
    • At the start of the series, he and the rest of the Tzedakah Guild were trying to raid Bairan Village's Guardian of the Forest in the hopes that it drops the [Amethyst Shield] for Toban.
    • He has the Patience Shield Skill, which allows him to try to block the damage of certain attacks with whatever shield he currently has equipped.
  • Number Two: Seems to serve as this for Jishuka, especially since he works as the Tzedakah Guild's chief of staff. If Jishuka winds up in trouble during combat, Toban will be the one giving the orders to protect the leader.
  • The Paladin: He's the first paladin of the Judar church.
  • People Puppets: Box uses his class's special abilities to force him to attack Grid.
  • The Smart Guy: Seems to fill this role for the Tzedakah Guild since he's been assigned to be their chief of staff. Basically, he keeps everything regarding his guild in order, and helps set up raids and such for them to take on.
  • Stone Wall: Serves as a Paladin tanker for his guild. Toban usually had to act as the main tanker early on due to Vantner messing up his stat distribution for his Guardian Knight class, which made it difficult for the latter to properly tank. However, once Vantner started to fix his class, such as him finally receiving a high-rated armor from Grid, Toban fell into more of the tanking support role that was supposed to be his role to begin with.
  • To Be Lawful or Good: Lawful means carrying out his quest to take the Holy Armor Set from Grid, by force if need be. To be good means siding with his guild-mate and maybe failing the quest. The choice is stripped from him when Asuka, Box, and Black Teddy attack Grid and refuse to stand down.

     Pon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pon.jpg
Wow! This spear is fantastic!

A good-looking Tzedakah Guild player who is the #1 Spear Knight class player of Satisfy. Thus, making him one of the top guild mates when it comes to dishing out damage. Pon has a rivalry with Vantner where they constantly try to argue and one-up the other, but is also done in such a way that brings out the best of both of them.

  • Achilles' Heel: Early on, Pon was stuck using a Level-190 Unique-rated spear despite his character being Level 243 as he hadn't been able to find a good replacement, which really lowered his potential damage output. However, he finally gets his much desired spear once Grid joins the guild, and makes a better one for him.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: His class is almost sheer offense, so once the battle starts, he concentrates on dishing out as much damage as he can to end the fight as quickly as possible.
  • Character Level: At the time of his introduction, Pon was mentioned to be the 23rd highest level player in the unified player rankings.
  • Establishing Character Moment: His introduction during the Malacus raid. Pon threw a surprise spear at Malacus with such immense strength behind it that it caused said raid boss to take several steps back despite him using his black magic shield Skill to block the spear's damage. Malacus is forced to admit that Pon is fast and strong compared to the weaker Vantner that just tried to attack him before Pon's surprise attack.
  • In-Series Nickname: Vantner calls Pon a "chicken head" multiple times as a part of their Volleying Insults.
  • Javelin Thrower: Given that Pon's a type of Spearman class, throwing his spear at the enemy is pretty common for him.
  • Jousting Lance: In the later chapters, he upgrades his class to mounted cavalry, giving him a powerful boost when he rides a mount.
  • Manchild: He and Vantner's constant arguing make it quite clear that they don't act anywhere near their actual adult age. Jishuka however views this as a good thing as the two of them found value in disliking each other.
  • Older Than They Look: He's introduced as a 36 year old man in real life, yet his Bishōnen game character makes him look like a younger man in his late 20s.
  • Playing with Fire: Pon's powerful Mach Spear Skill surrounds the head of his spear in intense flames, which is then thrown at the enemy at such high speed and explosive power.
  • Pretty Boy: He's described to be handsome and has a sleek physique. So much so that his game character makes him look younger than he actually is.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Pon tends to call out Vantner for failing to properly play out the tanking role of his Guardian Knight class, which always leaves Vantner annoyed and angry.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calm Blue to Vantner's more aggressive Red.
  • The Rival: He and Vantner have a rivalry to the point that they often argue with one another during battles. Despite said rivalry, he actually does want Vantner to succeed as Pon provides advice to his rival to start dumping stats into Stamina instead of Strength in order for Vantner to fix his tanking class.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: As much as Vantner and Regas love to quarrel, he loves to quarrel with Vantner just as much. Later deconstructed because while the two are trapped in a vampire city, their bickering almost caused them to lose a fight with some powerful vampires until Grid stepped in and rescued them. He went and lectured them about it.
  • Volleying Insults: Tends to get into these kinds of arguments with Vantner.
  • Weapon Specialization: Pon fights with a spear to the point of building himself up to becoming the #1 Spear Knight class player in Satisfy. Thus, he's famous as the best spearman in the game.
    • Before meeting Grid, he was using a Level-190 Unique-rated spear for combat, which Pon was in desperate need of an upgrade since his game character was as high as Level 243 by the time of the Malacus raid.

     Vantner
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vatner.png
Grid, when are you going to forge my armor like you promised, damn it!

A large and bald Tzedakah Guild player who, as the eventual #1 Guardian Knight class player of Satisfy, serves as the guild's main tanker. Vantner has a rivalry with Pon where they constantly try to argue and one-up the other, but is also done in such a way that brings out the best of both of them. When he used to play L.T.S. with the rest of the guild, he was a powerful DPS player, but for a change of pace went with one of the well known tank classes. Unfortunately, his original game-play style stuck with him and he put too much into his Strength stat; neglecting his Stamina stat, and leaving him somewhat crippled. After Grid finally has the chance to give him that sweet, sweet armor he's been needing, this turns around in a hurry, and he becomes a whirling juggernaut of destruction.

  • Achilles' Heel: Dumping all his early stats into Strength left Vantner as a damage-dealing tank with low Defense. Thus, he couldn't properly tank as he was lacking the Stamina required for his class' more advanced protection skills. However, it starts to get better for him once he begins to properly distribute his stats, and eventually receives a great tanking armor from Grid.
  • Bald Head of Toughness: Very little hair on his head and is one of Satisfy's most powerful users. In fact, he's officially listed as the strongest user of his chosen class, Guardian Knight. This is further emphasized by him overfocusing on his strength stat in lieu of his stamina stat. Pon tends to make fun of him believing that this is a sign that Vantner is bald in real life, but Vantner claims that he designed his game character to be bald on purpose.
  • Berserk Button: Nothing angers Vantner more than having to put up with Pon. Particularly when Pon is bad-mouthing him, or when Pon is doing better than him in battle.
  • Character Level: At the time of his introduction, Vantner was mentioned to be the 66th highest level player in the unified player rankings.
  • Damage Reduction: As a tanker class, he comes with different types of defense skills, such as the passive Reduce Damage Received Skill.
  • Dual Wielding: He fights holding one axe in each hand.
  • Dumb Muscle: Pon calls him out as such for not effectively playing out his role of being the guild's tank, such as not even using a shield, which is a main component of being a tank. The problem comes from Vantner failing to adapt after switching to a tank class in Satisfy after he played as a damage-dealer class in L.T.S.
  • Glass Cannon: Vantner's biggest downfall early on was being a tank who couldn't actually tank. By dumping all his stats into Strength early on, Vantner turned himself into a frail tanking class that while he was able to dish out a lot of damage compared to what tanks are normally able to do, it left him with very little Defense. The fact that Vantner doesn't even use a shield didn't help matters. However, it starts to get better for Vantner once he settles into the role of being the tank, and starts to distribute his stats more properly. Finally receiving a high-rated tanking armor from Grid also helped.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Despite being the same age as Pon, he's jealous of the fact that Pon's game character makes him look like a young heart-throb while his game character makes him look like an unappealing older man.
  • Healing Factor: The Guardian Knight class comes with healing skills to help Vantner with tanking.
  • Improbable Use of a Weapon: Throwing weapons is one of the few offensive skills of a Guardian Knight, which Vantner is seen throwing his axe at Malacus.
  • The Juggernaut: Once his stats are better balanced, and finally receives his high-rated armor from Grid, he can both hit hard and tank a lot of damage.
  • Manchild: He and Pon's constant arguing make it quite clear that they don't act anywhere near their actual adult age. Jishuka however views this as a good thing as the two of them found value in disliking each other.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The aggressive Red to Vantner's more calm Blue.
  • The Rival: He and Pon have a rivalry to the point that they often argue with one another during battles. It's why it annoys Vantner greatly that he fell behind Pon early on due to his poor stat distribution.
  • Spin Attack: He can spin his twin-axes in such a way to perform a spin attack.
  • Stone Wall: Vantner has trouble tanking at first due to his poor stat distribution, but he eventually falls into this role as being a true main tank for the guild once his stats are fixed, and finally getting a much needed armor upgrade from Grid.
    • The Guardian Knight class has a one-time invincibility Skill where along with making Vantner invulnerable, he can also neutralize the opponent’s movements for a brief time.
  • Time to Unlock More True Potential: Grid finds a locked hidden ability to his axes while making repairs and unlocks it, making Vantner considerably more powerful.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Regas fight just for the sake of it all the time. The two of them are best friends.
  • Volleying Insults: Tends to get into these kinds of arguments with Pon.
  • Younger Than They Look: He's introduced as a 36 year old man in real life, yet his game character makes him look like a older man in his late 40s. The baldness and the beard is supposedly what makes him look older than he is.

     Ibellin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ibellin.jpg
I wonder how my new flamberge is going to be.

The second member of the Tzedakah Guild to get an equipment upgrade commission from Grid after he joined the guild and the first to get a legendary piece of equipment.

  • The Baby of the Bunch: Prior to the guild reorganizing into Overgeared and the joining of Ruby, he was the youngest on-screen member.
  • Exotic Weapon Supremacy: He specializes in using a flamberge. A delicate, yet powerful sword that has a jagged blade designed to tear flesh and leave bleeding, festering wounds.
  • Genre Savvy: He's savvy enough to haggle with Grid regarding the commission price of the legendary ranked flamberge and get Grid to offer a fair price.
  • Hold the Line: Despite being overwhelmed by Giant Guild 14 to one, he did his duty to protect Khan's blacksmith while Grid was at work, even managing to take down several of the attackers. An enraged Grid avenged his humiliation by curbstomping the rest.

     Laella

A young Magician class member of the Tzedakah Guild who specializes in fire spells. Laella is amongst the top rankers having been playing alongside her guild mates since the days of L.T.S, and is an international-renown global singer in the real world.

  • Big Damn Heroes: Laella's introduction has her casting an explosive fire spell that hits and distracts Malacus long enough for Grid and Regas to escape from danger.
  • Having a Blast: Since her spells center around fire, she'll usually cast spells that give off powerful flame explosions.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: She's quite the beauty in Satisfy, which is obviously going to be the case in real life as well since Laella definitely needs the looks when it comes to being a famous idol. Grid first meeting her in Satisfy leaves him so distracted by her beauty and large breasts that he glossed over that they're currently fighting in a raid against Malacus.
  • Idol Singer: In the real world, Laella's a famous international-renown British global singer. Even Grid instantly recognizes Laella the moment he first meets her during the Malacus raid. She was also only 18-years-old at the time that Grid met her, which basically makes her a Teen Idol since she was already quite a famous idol by that point.
  • Out of Focus: Compared to the other members of the Tzedakah guild, you don't get to see Laella all that much.
  • Playing with Fire: The spells she uses as a Magician are primarily centered around the use of fire.
  • Squishy Wizard: Plays the role of damage-dealing mage support for her guild. Laella starts off as a basic Magician class player, but she eventually became a Fire Magician due to fire being the primary element that she uses throughout the series.

     Euphemina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eupheminia.png
Manhwa version
Click here for Euphemina's novel illustration.

A short beautiful girl who, unbeknownst to the characters in-story, was the 1st of three players to discover an Epic-rated class early on. Her Epic class being Duplicator. Euphemina's introduced hunting Piaro on behalf of Asmophel, but comes up empty due to Piaro proving himself to be a tough NPC. She's then hired by the Mero Company to challenge Grid in the Winston blacksmithing game; deciding the fate of Khan's smithy. After the contest ends with her victory, only because Grid was arrested on false charges, Euphemina gets a quest from the top merchant of the Mero Company, Rabbit, to free him as Rabbit has decided to end his work with the corrupt company for greener pastures by instead working for Grid. She accepts the quest, and breaks into the Winston Castle dungeon to free Grid.

Having witnessed Grid's incredible blacksmithing skills forging the Unique-rated [Ideal Dagger] during the blacksmithing duel, Euphemina only agrees to help Grid out if he does something for her in return. She asks him to forge her a powerful mage orb that will allow her to store within it her one-off copied skills as doing so will finally give Euphemina a method to keep her copied skills permanently, which Grid accepts. The result is Euphemina working alongside Grid against the Mero Company until said company is disposed of. Following the quest, several months go by as she seeks out the blueprint and materials for the best possible mage orb. When she finally finds it, she returns to Grid's side so he can craft it for her.

  • Accidental Hero: While searching around the Winston Castle dungeon to free Grid, she unintentionally stumbled upon the imprisoned Khan, and frees him.
  • Achilles' Heel: The biggest drawback to her Duplicator class is that her copied spells or skills are only one-time use, which leaves Euphemina a sitting duck if she goes through her arsenal of one-off abilities during a battle. This is particularly why Euphemina's seeking out a high-rated mage Orb as orbs have a mechanic to store spells within it for permanent use. Meaning that Euphemina storing her one-time spells within it would make them infinite use.
  • Action Girl: Thanks to her Duplicator class, she's able to handle things quite well on her own as displayed by her battling with the guards within Winston's castle dungeon, and her fight against the #1 Assassin player, Faker. The amount of copied spells surprised Faker so much that she actually managed to kill him along with the 3 Tzedakah Guild members who tried to support him.
  • All for Nothing: She spends 63 in-game days preparing to face Piaro, and loses it all in a matter of minutes when her over-use of copied skills turns on her.
  • The Bait: She ended up in this position being forced to hold off the Winston Castle prison guards while Grid goes off on his own to rescue Huroi. Euphemina didn't appreciate this one bit.
  • The Arch Mage: While already a powerful mage, she truly becomes a magical powerhouse without the downsides of the Duplicator class when she becomes Mumud’s Successor.
  • Berserk Button: Being treated as a kid tends to really tick her off. When Euphemina breaks into Winston Castle to free Grid from prison, one of the conditions she drops on him before release is to make sure that Grid stops calling her a kid.
  • The Blacksmith: While she doesn't have the Blacksmith's Craftsmanship Skill, she's able to pretend to be one thanks to her Duplicator class, which she will copy a player or NPC's Blacksmith's Craftsmanship Skill in order for her to make at least one item as a Blacksmith. This comes into play when she's hired by the Mero Company to take part in the Winston blacksmithing duel against Grid.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Her class is one of the strongest in the game, but comes with a lot of drawbacks and pitfalls, not the least of which is the over-reliance on one-use copied skills and spells.
  • Disqualification-Induced Victory: She was declared the winner of the Winston blacksmithing duel, but only by default because Grid was arrested by Valmont before his much better crafted knife was able to be judged.
  • The Drag-Along: In a way, Euphemina got dragged along by Grid to help him rescue Huroi in the Winston Castle dungeon. Euphemina had no connection whatsoever to Huroi, and the quest she was given was only to free Grid. However, Grid had his own quest needing to save Huroi, which she ends up following along since she has to keep Grid alive for her quest.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: Euphemina's introduction has many male players enjoying the sight of her, which they ask to form a group with her, or show off their skills trying to impress her. Meanwhile, the female players are all jealous that she's getting all the attention.
    • It happens again at start of the Winston blacksmithing duel against Grid where many male players become interested in watching just because of Euphemina participating.
  • Fighting Spirit: Obtained the Fighting Spirit stat from earning the 'Competitor' Title. The lower her health gets, the greater her attack power and mental state.
  • Flight: Has an unknown skill that allows her to fly, which she's seen using flying around in her introduction fight against Piaro.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Had she succeeded in her S-class quest to defeat Piaro, the story would be very, very different.
  • Girlish Pigtails: How she sports her hair.
  • In-Series Nickname: Due to her Duplicator class, Euphemina can take on any job to make herself look like any type of worker. Thus, she gives herself a useful nickname for any job she works so others would know about her.
    • One example is after copying the skills of an advanced Blacksmith NPC, she took on the nickname as a blacksmith named Erina. The result was the Mero Company hiring Euphemina as "Erina" to take on Grid in the Winston blacksmithing duel.
  • Item Crafting: The knife she forges for the Winston blacksmith duel ended up as an Epic-rated [Dagger of Bewitchment]. The main benefit of the dagger is that it has a Bewitchment option giving the user a chance to turn a target into a non-resistant state for 3 seconds.
  • Luck Stat: Obtained the Good Luck stat from earning the 'Competitor' Title. The likelihood of lucky phenomenons happening to Euphemina will increase.
  • Magical Eye: Her Skill Observation skill. It allows Euphemina to look upon a player that's currently using one of their skills. If she's able to see the person's skill thanks to Skill Observation being a high enough level, then she can copy it with her Skill Duplication skill.
  • The Magnificent: She's introduced having already obtained two unknown Titles.
    • She tried to get a 3rd Title, 'Agent of Revenge,' from attempting to complete a S-ranked quest given from Asmophel to kill Piaro, but she ends up not getting the title due to failing said quest.
    • She gets another chance at a 3rd Title, 'Competitor,' after the Mero Company hires her for a quest to take on Grid in the Winston blacksmithing duel, which due to a technicality of Grid getting arrested before he's announced the winner, she ends up the winner by default. As a result of obtaining the 'Competitor' Title, Euphemina gains the Fighting Spirit stat, the Good Luck stat, and the Rolling Dice Skill.
  • Necessary Drawback: Her class has many pitfalls. The list below his hardly exhaustive.
    • 1.) She can only copy a new ability three times a day. (Once every eight hours).
    • 2.) Abilities she copies can only be used once, unless stored in a mage orb.
    • 3.) She has to see the ability used and analyze it before she can copy it.
    • 4.) She can not copy an ability that comes from a higher class than her own.
    • 5.) If she overuses copied abilities in battle, or she runs out, her body's already poor stats are weakened even further.
  • Older Than They Look: She looks like a kid but is over 20.
  • Our Mages Are Different: While Euphemina's Duplicator class allows her to copy any skill, she seems to prefer fighting like a mage as the copied spells she uses throughout the series tend to be high-level mage-like spells. In addition, the gear she wears is usually for that of a mage, such as cloth robes and holding onto a spell orb.
  • Power Copying: The nature of her class, but this has powerful drawbacks as seen above. Some of the skills she copied with her Skill Duplication skill, and went about using throughout the series, include the following:
    • Swirling Frenzy, a swirling storm skill that deals 1,530-2,380 damage per second for five seconds. The agility of the target caught in the vortex will decrease by 80%. She uses it in the quest fight against Piaro.
    • Tartan, the strongest defensive skill known by the #1 Guardian Knight player, Bump. A huge steel giant appears out of thin air and then embraces the user to defend from all incoming attacks. She uses it in the quest fight against Piaro.
    • Counter Barrier, a skill of the strongest Assault Knight player, Miared. When struck by an enemy, Counter Barrier returns all the damage from said attack back upon the enemy. She uses it in the quest fight against Piaro.
    • Other copied skills that she uses in the quest fighting Piaro include Scorching Heat Wave, Tyrant’s Majesty, Mace of Light, Spear of Darkness, and Prelude to Destruction.
    • Nightmare Projection, a skill that forces the enemy into a hallucination. Euphemina used this on Piaro to counter his Fated to Perish trump card, which resulted in him fighting an image of his most painful memory, Asmophel.
    • Blacksmith's Craftsmanship, she copied Khan's Advanced level blacksmithing skill in order to take on Grid for the Winston blacksmithing duel.
    • Spear of Destruction, a skill where she summons out a large spear from her fingertip to strike her enemies. She uses it against a bunch of Winston soldiers (killing 30) during the quest to free Grid from the Winston Castle dungeon.
    • Sword of Light, a skill that summons out a large shining white sword. She casts out the sword specifically to kill a group of Winston Castle guards that were going to chase after Grid, who ran off to search for the caged Huroi.
    • Demon King's Tail Fire, a skill that causes blue flames to erupt on the bodies of her enemies; dealing massive damage to them. She uses it on Baron Lowes' bodyguards (killing all 16) after her and Grid escape from the Winston Castle dungeon.
    • Angel's Scream, a skill that releases ultrasound waves that rattle the ears of her enemies. She uses it against Faker to make him drop out of Stealth when the Tzedakah Guild believed that she was the great blacksmith they were looking for.
    • She's seen using powerful copied lighting and fire spells against Faker, but he easily dodges the lightning spell, and his clone takes the damage of the fire spell instead of him.
    • Ancient Queen’s Knight, a skill that summons out a knight in black armor familiar to fight for her. She uses it in her fight against Faker.
    • During the fight with Faker, she copied one of his Assassin movement skills that allowed her to easily dodge the 3 daggers that he threw at her.
    • Dragon Claws, a skill that raises large stone pillars from the ground while a rain of fire comes down from above. She uses it against Faker and the 3 other Tzedakah Guild members that tried to support him.
  • Pride: Very prideful of her good looks, which she will always use to her advantage. After befriending Grid and becoming part of his Overgeared Guild, she doesn't really pull this stunt anymore.
  • Proud Beauty: She knows full well the effect her good looks have on men, whether it be player or NPC, and takes full advantage of it. It's why Euphemina's so confused when she first meets Grid as it turns out that he's the first man she ever met who didn't go gaga over her at first sight.
  • Random Number God: Obtained the Rolling Dice Skill from earning the 'Competitor' Title. Said skill revolves around Euphemina rolling a 6-sided dice, which a buff or debuff phenomenon will occur depending on the number that is rolled.
    • If the target is yourself or an ally: There will be a beneficial effect if the roll is 4 to 6. There will be a harmful effect if the roll is 1 to 3.
    • If the target is an enemy: There will be a beneficial effect if the roll is 1 to 3. There will be a harmful effect if the roll is 4 to 6.
  • Running Gag: Grid came to fear Euphemina early on due to how powerful and angry she came off during their time together in Winston Village dealing with the Mero Company. Thus, his fear of her still pops up from time to time even after they became friends, much to her ongoing confusion.
  • Spider-Sense: Because of her unusually high Insight stat as a result of constantly needing to use her Duplicator skills, Euphemina became able to sense people trying to approaching her. Her Insight sensing is so strong that she's able to notice Faker, the #1 Assassin player, trying to sneak up on her while he's in Stealth mode during the time that the Tzedakah Guild believed that she was the hidden great blacksmith they were looking for.
  • Status Buff: Her Rolling Dice Skill has a 50% chance of performing this. When used on herself or her allies, rolling a 4 to 6 will provide a beneficial effect. When used on enemies, rolling a 1 to 3 will give them a beneficial effect.
  • Status Effects: Her Rolling Dice Skill has a 50% chance of performing this. When used on herself or her allies, rolling a 1 to 3 will provide a harmful effect. When used on enemies, rolling a 4 to 6 will give them a harmful effect.
  • The Tease: Early on, Euphemina would use her good looks and flirt a bit to get men to do her bidding. It comes as a huge shock to her when she realizes that such efforts had no affect on Grid during the Winston blacksmithing duel.
  • This Cannot Be!: It comes as a complete shock to Euphemina when she sees during the Winston blacksmithing duel against Grid that her Skill Observation skill, which is as high as Level 7, is unable to copy Grid's Blacksmith Craftsmanship Skill. Unbeknownst to her, this is due to his Pagma's Successor class making the level of his normal Blacksmith Craftsmanship Skill instantly max out, and instead being given a second Blacksmith Craftsmanship Skill to level up that's Legendary-rated. Thus, she has to settle for copying Khan's Advanced Blacksmith’s Craftsmanship Level 2 skill for the duel.
  • Token Mini-Moe: The cute and smallest girl of the group.
  • Volleying Insults: Falls into this against Grid viewing him as gay trash for not succumbing to her good looks while Grid goes about viewing her as a bratty child.

     Huroi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/huroi.png
My Lord, Grid. I will follow you forever.

An Orator class player named Allunbatar in the real world. Huroi originally sided with the Mero Company for a quest to help them win over the Winston citizens, but he ends up switching sides after learning of said company's corruption from Khan. Instead, he takes on a new quest to inform Earl Steim of the Mero Company's villainous actions. Rabbit winds up learning of the betrayal, and has Huroi dragged to a dungeon. Instead of logging out to wait out the sentence however, Huroi chooses to take on a life-threatening hidden quest where he has to stay in his cell and logged in to Satisfy for 200 hours (50 hours real-time). The quest was originally programmed to be interrupted by an "Apostle of Justice" NPC, who would free him, but because he shared the quest with Grid, who Huroi had a brief talk with moments after receiving Khan's quest, Grid unknowingly Got Volunteered to play the role instead.

After Grid succeeds in rescuing him, Huroi completes his quest, and is rewarded with the secondary Apostle of Justice’s Partner class; resulting in Huroi becoming famous as the first ever Satisfy player to have two classes at once. Huroi swears unconditional loyalty to Grid knowing that he will never be able to repay Grid for providing him such greatness, which Grid quickly put him to use to raid frost orcs for blacksmithing materials. Since then, Huroi has remained one of Grid's most trusted and capable subordinates.

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Because he completed his "Apostle of Justice" quest the way he did, he is the first player, ever, to get the coveted ability of having two classes at once. Along with starting off as the Orator class, he also becomes the Apostle of Justice’s Partner class.
  • Achilles' Heel: His time when he was just the Orator class brought him a lot of downsides. His use of weapons were extremely limited, his health is the lowest of all classes, and his basic combat stats and skills were poor. A lot of these issues are resolved after obtaining a second class that's more combat oriented.
  • Adventure Duo: With Grid. Due to the affect of Apostle of Justice’s Partner class, Huroi's stats rise by 20% when he's fighting alongside the one classified as the "Apostle of Justice," which Grid has the Title for.
  • And I Must Scream: Huroi starts screaming in pain during the final hours of his 50 hour prison holdout quest.
  • The Bard: Huroi's Orator class is based around this. Particularly, the part where he uses his words to influence those around him.
  • Can't Catch Up: The major downside of the Orator class is his inability to properly hunt and level-up. Huroi had to level through quests that revolved around talking with NPCs. The result is that while Huroi started the game alongside many other notable players that are now high level, Huroi's leveling fell behind since talking quests provide less experience the higher he went up in level. This changes once he obtained a second combat-oriented Apostle of Justice’s Partner class that allows him to properly hunt and level up at a much more normal pace.
  • Cast from Hit Points: His Sacrifice for Justice Skill when activated consumes most of his health to the point of basically being a death sentence. In return, Sacrifice for Justice dishes out a lot of damage while dropping the enemy's Defense for a brief time.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: Enemies struck by his Sacrifice for Justice Skill are hit with a lowered Defense debuff for a brief time.
  • Damage Reduction: After gaining the 'One who Overcomes Hardships' Title, Huroi obtains the Indomitable stat, which has a chance of invalidating a portion of incoming damage. The lower the health, the higher the probability.
  • Determinator: Believed to have taken care of his body really well, Huroi remains extremely confident that his body can last to take on the life-threatening quest of remaining logged into Satisfy for 50 hours of real time. While he does eventually start to fall out of consciousness near the end, he does manage to make it through the quest as Grid manages to rescue him from his cell in time.
    • Later on, he becomes greatly determined to serve as Grid's loyal follower, which Grid eventually accepts.
  • Draw Aggro: Given that his Orator class language skills can be used to gain the attention of whomever he's talking to, Huroi tends to use this in combat to draw the enemy into attacking him.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Huroi's introduction that has him using his words to say a speech to the people of Winston to try to calm down their rage towards the Mero Company, and succeeds at first before Khan stopped him in his tracks, shows off the language influence of his Orator class quite effectively.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: He starts to fight with a sword after obtaining his Apostle of Justice’s Partner class.
  • Honor Before Reason: At the time, Grid had a very poor opinion of people, and repeatedly tried to chase him away, but he persisted on following "his liege" around to repay what he considers his debt. Eventually, he manages to get through to Grid, who then starts to treasure his loyalty and ability.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: He starts to make use of using a shield after obtaining his Apostle of Justice’s Partner class.
  • Magikarp Power: His Orator class is a poor class for combat, and difficult to raise, but at the high levels is greatly sought after by NPC nobles, politicians and merchants due to its effects.
  • The Magnificent: Obtained the 'One who Overcomes Hardships' Title after completing the quest to remain logged into Satisfy, and holding out within Winston Castle's for at least 50 real time hours until the "Apostle of Justice" arrives to free him. Huroi permanently obtains the Indomitable stat, and the Strong Will Skill.
  • Molotov Cocktail: In order to help Grid battle with the frostlight orcs, Huroi purchased up to 50 [Firebombs] from a Winston store beforehand given that frostlight orcs are weak to fire. The [Firebombs] are all put to use against the Frostlight Orc Chief field boss.
  • Nice Guy: He's an all around nice dude when he's around Grid and his friends. His actions are also noble. He gladly accepted to change quests from helping the villainous Mero Company to supporting the suffering Winston Village residents after hearing about the company's actions towards them.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: He suffered being stuck logged in to the game for 48 hours, real-time, in a cell, because he shared quest info that he shouldn't have.
  • The Power of Language: His Orator class is centered around this having a bunch of language based skills to provide buffs to his friends, or debuffs to his enemies. Just making fun or saying curse words at the enemy is usually enough to debuff or taunt the enemy.
    • Connected to his Orator class, Huroi has the Persuasion passive skill, and the Persuasive Power stat. Both of which he's leveled up greatly, which increases his ability to move NPCs according to his will if he does it well.
  • Signature Move: His trump card as an Orator is the Spiteful Tongue debuff skill. You can always tell when Huroi's using it the moment he starts saying curse words or making fun of the enemy.
  • Sir Swearsalot: He's usually seen swearing a lot at his enemies due to his Spiteful Tongue Skill.
  • Someone Has to Die: During the escape from Winston's castle dungeon, he stays behind to face off against 4 high level Winston Knights in order for Grid and Euphemina to escape. Instead of dying, he just chooses to log out of Satisfy since he was desperate for rest after making it through the 50 hour "Wait" quest.
  • Status Buff: The Unbreakable Justice Skill increases his Attack Power by 300% for a brief time.
  • Status Infliction Attack: His Spiteful Tongue Skill. Huroi goes about making fun of the enemy during combat, usually to the point of saying swear words at them. If the enemy reacts to such words, some sort of debuff gets applied to them.* Stone Wall: Whenever he activates his Strong Will Skill, Huroi's able to resist any attack for 10 seconds (The cooldown is 2 and a half hours).
  • Suicide Attack: His Sacrifice for Justice Skill is basically this. At the cost of almost all his health to the point that the next hit would pretty much kill him, he can strike a target for massive damage while also dropping a Defense lowering debuff on said target.
  • Support Party Member: When he's fighting with Grid, or in a group, Huroi tends to act as party support providing buffs and debuffs using his Orator language skills. Though thanks to his second Apostle of Justice’s Partner class, he can also act as a support fighter.
  • Taking the Bullet: During the escape from Winston's castle dungeon, Huroi steps in front of Grid to take the sword swing from Knight Rupert. Thanks to Huroi activating his Strong Will Skill, he takes no damage.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Huroi becomes able to fight properly on the front lines after obtaining his second class, Apostle of Justice’s Partner. Gaining the class also rewards him with the Courage stat, the Unbreakable Justice Skill, and the Sacrifice for Justice Skill.
  • Undying Loyalty: He's unflinchingly loyal to Grid due to the latter doing many useful things for Huroi.

     Toon

I came to fight that crazy masked bastard who trashed Giant guild. You met him? (Ptoie)

One of the newest recruits to Tzedakah guild, scouted by Jishuka. He only joined the guild in the hopes of fighting, and beating, "the slaughter psycho" that trashed 11 members of Giant Guild. After fighting Grid in the smithy, not realizing they're one and the same, and losing, he grows genuinely fond of the guild, eventually moving to South Korea and taking up the job of being the real-life bodyguard of the Shin estate.

  • BeastMan: He completed a class-change quest that allowed him to become a theriantrope in Satisfy.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: Justified. He gets room, board, and a handsome salary for guarding Grid's family, inlcuding Grid himself in reality, even after Grid becomes a better fighter than himself.
  • Character Tic: He has a rather disgusting habit of ending his sentences by spitting on something, and it doesn't seem like he's aware that he's doing it.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As a child, he grew up on crime-ridden streets, forced to steal to survive, then he was snatched up by the mafia, and as an adult, finally managed to escape a life of crime, but lost one of his eyes in the process.
  • Dramatic Irony: He marches up to Grid, working in the smithy, asking for information on "the crazy masked bastard" who trashed a dozen members of Giant Guild. He gets the fight he wanted by going around spitting on several parts of the smithy as part of his Character Tic.
  • Eye Scream: He's missing an eye, as that was the price he had to pay for leaving organized crime in his home country.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Rude, crude, and unpleasant, but deep down, he's a good guy who is genuinely grateful Yura set him up as the Shin family's bodyguard in reality.
  • Wolverine Claws: He has claws that come out of the back of his hands as primary weapons in the game of Satisfy.

     Peak Sword
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peaksword.jpg

Originally the guild leader of Silver Knights, he meets Grid when the latter intrudes on the guild raid on Hell Bao. Grid wanted no part of the battle and was only there to mine for a mineral he needs to craft a shield commissioned by a member of Tzedakah. He and grid had to trade places when the raid boss proved too difficult for Silver Knight and would constantly keep going after Grid, to prevent the mineral from being mined. The two users quickly become on good terms when Grid not only defeats Hell Bao, after the boss was weakened by the mineral being mined, but Grid goes on to defend Peak Sword from the invading Sakura Guild that attacked out of nothing more than self-perceived Japanese superiority against the Silver Knights, who were composed of Korean users. When Grid becomes Duke Grid, he goes out of his way to merge The Silver Knights and Overgeared guilds together under Grid's leadership.

  • Catchphrase: "Do you know God Grid?" or "Do you know kimichi?"
  • Character Level: At the time of his introduction, Peak Sword was mentioned to be the 16th highest level player in the unified player rankings.
  • Enlightened Self-Interest: He and his guild-mates happily serve under Grid, not just because Grid is a good man who deserves their loyalty, but because he provides them the best equipment in the game, making them a force to be reckoned with.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Literally. He and Grid become best friends forever after fighting side by side in the Hell Bao raid. (Rather one fought while the other weakened the boss by mining away the mineral that the boss was using for power.)
  • Patriotic Fervor: He is very, very pro-South Korea, but while he does play up Korea's virtues whenever possible, he at least has enough sense to not go into Cultural Posturing about it. Especially when he joins with Overgeared, a multi-national guild. This seems to come from his family - his sister's name translates literally to 'South Korea'.

     Ruby
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shin_sehee2.png
Manhwa version
Click here for Ruby's novel illustration.

Grid's younger sister, Shin Sehee. The favored child of the family, due to having excellent grades and prospects. She initially condemns Grid's seeming addiction to the VR game Satisfy, until he starts making serious bank from his gameplay. After the Satisfy Olympic Games, she signs up and starts to play, just to see what the fuss is about. Unfortunately, not only does this coincide with the Golem Invasion event, but the golem army is heading right to the Eternal Kingdom capital which the game chose as her starter city. Seeing an NPC child in danger, she rushes in to save the child, which unlocks the hidden Saintess class. With the perks of this class, she helps her elder brother fight off the golem army, not only earning over 20 levels in minutes, but being rewarded with an Earl title.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the original novel, she's illustrated with black hair. In the manhwa, she's a brunette.
  • Big Brother Attraction: While it's not certain if she wants Grid to be closer to her than the normal brother-sister levels of affection, she does get jealous when other women get too close to him.
  • Big Brother Worship: She hides it pretty well, but even at his least sympathetic, she always looked up to her big brother.
  • The Caretaker: She's basically in this role for her family early on making sure that her brother, who's still jobless and unhygienic, stays healthy. This role lessens for Sehee once it became clear that her brother can make a really good living for himself using Satisfy.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Invoked. Her Saintess class requires her to do at least 50 good works a month, not specified if it's game time or real-time.
  • Deader than Dead: What makes her Saintess class The Dreaded among higher beings like Great Demons or Archangels is that simply being in her presence when they are defeated ensures they are not able to respawn and thus stay dead.
  • Disappointed in You: She clearly doesn't like it when her brother is performing bad behavior, such as when she spotted the nasty and untrue internet comments that her brother wrote about Yura.
  • Does Not Like Men: Men other than her older brother annoy her, at best.
  • The Dreaded: As the Saintess, great demons fear her because she can ensure their permanent demise just by being nearby when they die.
  • Good Feels Good: She plays as a Saintess because she enjoys doing good works.
  • Healing Hands: Her class grants her a powerful healing ability that heals 20% of the maximum HP of her intended targets. While this may not be much for another low level character, when used for a high-level character with a large HP bar, this is a major aid.
  • Informed Attractiveness: She's supposedly so beautiful that she could be a teen idol if she wanted, with ease. Illustrations of her would beg to differ.
  • Loved by All: While Grid is the most famous user of Satisfy, Ruby is the most beloved, with Titles such as 'Angel without Wings,' 'Rebecca's Reincarnation' and so on.
  • Neat Freak: Has moments of this where she feels the need to clean her brother's room for him early on. Even spraying some air-freshener in it.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: She's an Earl, but her class requires her to do at least 50 good works a month, so she's always out and about doing good deeds, at least twice a day.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: As one of the two top beauties of her class, boys hover around her like flies and she hates it.
  • So Proud of You: Just like her parents, she starts to have a much better view of her older brother once he proves to the family during their Darkest Hour that he can make money and start his own life by playing Satisfy and becoming a famous player.
  • Super-Intelligence: She's exceptionally smart, acing every subject in her all-girls school.
  • Unluckily Lucky: She signs up to play Satisfy and within minutes finds the starter city she's in under attack from an army of powerful golems, but because she rushes to aid an NPC child, she unlocks the hidden Saintess class and then because she aids her older brother defend the city, gains an Earl title, and a bunch of levels in a hurry, quickly becoming one of the most beloved users of the game.

Wow, Sehee! Look at all the boys drooling over us! Isn't it cute!

Shin Sehee's best friend and the second of the most beautiful girls in the school named Young Girl's Highschool. Known in the real world as Park Yerim, she signs in to Satisfy at the same time as Ruby and is also caught up in the Golem Invasion event. When a golem tries to attack Ruby, she grabs Ruby and drags her to safety. This unlocks the hidden Saintess's Knight class. Once the event is over, she changes her class to be Ruby's knight and follows her along on adventures.

  • All Love Is Unrequited: She's smitten with Grid, but it's completely one-sided.
  • Attention Whore: Unlike Ruby, she actually likes it when boys fawn all over her, but Ruby's well-being is paramount to her.
  • Ethical Slut: She's a sweetheart, but she goes through boyfriends almost as fast as she changes her wardrobe, about once every three months, at the longest.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: She likes boys, but she's bonded to Sehee, for life.
  • Lady and Knight: She's the knight to Ruby's lady.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Since she was in Grid's party along with Ruby during the Golem Invasion event, she also gets an Earl title, but her top priority is being Ruby's bodyguard, so as Ruby adventures, so does she.

A beautiful woman who's introduced as South Korea's highest level player as a Black Magician for the Yatan Church. Yura met Grid during the quest to rescue Irene, which she was given the opposing quest to protect the temple of Yatan where Irene was being sacrificed. She initially presumes Grid is a very, very high-level player because he tanked her strongest attack and survived, not knowing about his class's Last Chance Hitpoint passive ability. So when Grid dies in the process of rescuing Irene, she presumes he let her win. Her questing for the Yatan Church eventually earns her the high-ranking status of Yatan's "Eighth Servant," and still believing that Grid let her win, she finally returns the favor by pretending to be his girlfriend during his most recent alumni reunion. She also gives a quick heads-up, in reality, when the Yatan Church is launching an all-out attack on the village of Bairan, while it was being guarded by Tzedakah guild. In return for this, Grid comes to her aid in the target-practice event when she was being bullied by all the other national teams. At that point, she genuinely develops feelings for him. She's eventually expelled from the Yatan Church when her class quest chain has her meet the First Servant of Yatan and he tries to kill her. After that, she signs on as Grid's knight in the city of Reidan.

  • Arc Villain: For the early Yatan Temple chapters where she faces off against Grid trying to keep him and the NPC, Doran, from rescuing Irene. Yura was given the opposing S-rank quest to protect said temple from their intrusion. She technically wins, but she's left feeling like Grid let her win.
  • The Ace: She's this for South Korea being the #1 Korean player in the world. Yura eventually loses this status to Grid, but still remains one of the best Korean players, even after the class switch to Demon Hunter.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Possibly as a result of her hunting experiences, she can figure out the strength of her enemies, and the strengths and weaknesses of her surrounding environment pretty quickly.
    • An example would be during Grid's attempt to rescue Irene with Doran where she could tell based on Doran's strength and skills that he was a powerful NPC that went through several stat awakenings, and that based on the level of Grid's gear, she theorized that he was around level 80 (which he was as a Warrior before his class reset).
  • Barrier Warrior: When Yura reached Level 230 as a Black Magician, she learned her first defensive skill, Diamond Barrier. She creates a shield by materializing mana with a hardness comparable to that of a diamond. She's shown first using this skill against Grid during his Irene rescue quest casting out the Diamond Barrier to protect the Yatan supporters from harm.
  • Black Magic: Her magic as a Black Magician revolved around this.
    • One of her most powerful black magic abilities was her Dark Storm Skill, a massive silent storm of magic that surrounds the area in darkness.
    • After reaching 100,000 Faith with the Yatan Church, Yura was rewarded with the more powerful Darkness Skill from God Yatan, which she first shows off against Sir Phoenix and his Eternal Kingdom soldiers.
  • Bolt of Divine Retribution: After completing the quest to become the Yatan Church's "Eighth Servant," Yura gains the Divine Punishment Skill. She can summon down a massive lightning bolt that deals 15,000 to 23,000 damage within 10 meters of herself, and has a 3 meter area-of-effect. Any enemy killed by this spell increases Yura's Faith stat by 50. However, it costs a lot of mana, and has a 20 minute cooldown.
  • Character Level: During her time as a Black Magician, Yura was mentioned to be the 5th highest level player in the unified player rankings. Later on however, she dropped off the unified player rankings list and has to work her way back up from the bottom due to her level reset from changeing classes to Demon Hunter.
  • Dark Action Girl: She is a powerful practitioner of dark magic and was allied to a cult that sacrifices virgins and does atrocity, for fun.
  • Dating Catwoman: She and Grid were dating, in the real world, while she was still allied to the church of Yatan. This is a major contributing factor in her eventual High-Heel–Face Turn.
  • Debt Detester: If she feels she owes you a favor, she will bend over backwards to repay it.
  • Demon Slaying: Her class after being expelled from the church of Yatan.
  • Exact Words: She once promises to Grid that he would be spared from the church of Yatan when the cult attacks Tzedakah guild in revenge for the death of Malacus. She does this by luring him out of Satisfy and then telling him about the attack after she thinks it's over, underestimating the guild's sheer tenacity.
  • Flaming Sword: She's shown using one against Grid during the Irene rescue quest.
  • High-Heel–Face Turn: She starts the story allied with the church of Yatan. She ends up as Grid's knight and helps to protect the innocent.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: In reality, she takes to being Grid's secretary and hooks him up with accountants to deal with the "tax bombs" that come from his massive Satisfy income, sets up the press conferences, and helps manage his real-estate dealings, especially the apartment rentals for his family's high-rise.
  • I've Come Too Far: She quickly comes to realize the church of Yatan are rotten to the core, and regrets taking her Servant of Yatan quest chain, but she's come too far along on the quest to abandon it by that point.
  • I Work Alone: Whether it be as a Black Magician or a Demon Hunter, Yura tends to be off hunting and doing things on her own, which is justified considering that being a Black Magician of the Yatan Church made her an enemy to a lot of people, and that no one can really support her hunting in Hell as she levels up her Demon Hunter class. Though she does start to join in with groups once she becomes part of Grid's Overgeared Guild.
  • Lady and Knight: She's the knight to Grid's lord, after novel chapter 296.
  • Lady of Black Magic: Basically what she is regarding her Black Magician class. She loses this after the class switch to Demon Slayer.
  • Loved by All: While there are some out there who are envious of Yura, a vast majority of people and players love and adore her thanks to her superb beauty, perfect gaming skills, and ideal image in the media. Even overseas, it's said that she's got thousands of fanclubs, and is even more popular than Hollywood’s top actors.
  • Mage Marksman: The Demon Slayer class comes with a magical gun that fires pure magic. This is especially deadly to all demon-kin.
  • Magical Incantation: Some of her Black Magician magic, like when she's using Dark Storm, required her to say some sort of incantation, such as calling out to God Yatan to support its loyal servant, before casting out the spell.
  • The Magnificent: She obtained the ‘Guardian of Yatan’s Temple’ title from completing the S-rank quest to defend the Yatan Temple from Grid and Doran. The title rewarded her with +300 Faith, +1,000 Health, and +60 Intelligence. However, she ended up losing this title due to the Demon Hunter class reset.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: After she's expelled from the church of Yatan, because the First Servant of Yatan tried to kill her, she goes with her conscience and turns on them, becoming the hidden legendary Demon Slayer class.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She features in many advertisement because of her beauty.
  • Necessary Drawback: The biggest drawback during her time as a Black Magician was her attack power being far inferior compared to other magician classes. However, that was no longer the case after she became the Yatan Church's "Eighth Servant," and was rewarded with a powerful lightning skill in Divine Punishment.
  • Not So Above It All: Yura is said to always appear calm when she appears on TV, which is why Grid is surprised when he sees her completely flustered not being able to understand how he survived her powerful black magic attack. Unbeknownst to her, Grid survived thanks to his Last Chance Hit Point skill where he becomes invulnerable for 5 seconds after dropping to 1 health. This was also the precise moment where Yura takes an interest in the player known as Grid, and just the sight of Sir Phoenix blocking her attacks as if he's invulnerable causes her to remember back to the incident with Grid that threw her off.
  • Playing with Fire: Shown using fire spells during her time as a Black Magician.
  • Prayer Pose: As a member of the Yatan Church, Yura sometimes had to pray to God Yatan in order to use its black magic.
  • Pride: At the start of the series, she prided herself as smart and powerful Black Magician, and as one of the highest level players in the game. However, that pride was shattered the moment she wasn't able to understand why none of her black magic attacks had any affect on Grid (not knowing about his 5 second invinsibility passive when he drops to one health). Despite Grid eventually dying, she ends up viewing this moment as Grid letting her win, and as the worst day of her life.
  • Red Baron: As the #1 Black Magician in the game, Yura became known as the "Blood Witch" amongst the players.
  • Redemption Demotion: The moment she tells the First Servant of Yatan, an actual demon, "screw you," she gets the Demon Slayer class, at level 1, thus dropping out of the rankings, to the shock of the entire Satisfy community.
  • Relationship Upgrade: In chapter 969, she gives Grid a Love Confession at a press conference. They begin offically dating from that point on.
  • Religion is Magic: A lot of her development as a Black Magician revolved around her having a high Faith stat so that she would be noticed by the Yatan Church. After obtaining the status of "Eighth Servant" from completing the quest to become it, she's rewarded with the passive Infinite Faith Skill where her Faith stat will now grow at double the speed.
  • Romantic Fake–Real Turn: She starts out faking being Grid's girlfriend for a laugh. She winds up liking him for real.
  • Shock and Awe: She obtains the powerful lightning-based Divine Punishment Skill after becoming the Yatan Church's "Eighth Servant."
  • The Smart Girl: Amongst the players, she's shown to be one of the more smarter ones. Yura is said to have been viewed as a smart, insightful and logical girl growing up. That for the first 21 years of her life, she had been praised by everyone she met for her beauty and intelligence. Thus, she earned a reputation of a talented person that could go up in any field. In the end, she chose to become a player in Satisfy, which has worked out wonders for her.
  • Squishy Wizard: When she was a mage allied with the church of Yatan, she had powerful magic but poor physical defenses. Once she becomes Grid's knight this is reversed.
  • Status Buff: Gained the Teaching Doctrines Skill after becoming the Yatan Church's "Eighth Servant." Yura preaches the doctrines of the Yatan Church at a target, which said target covered in the property of darkness. A target hit by Teaching Doctrines is given a 2 second buff where the damage they dish out is multiplied by 1.5 times their original damage output.
  • Status Infliction Attack: Gained the Teaching Doctrines Skill after becoming the Yatan Church's "Eighth Servant." Yura preaches the doctrines of the Yatan Church at a target, which said target gets covered in the property of darkness. A target hit by Teaching Doctrines is given a debuff where they can't use divine spells for 4 seconds. It's mainly useful against mages that rely on divine magic.
  • Supernatural Fear Inducer: As a Black Magician, her Hell Skill is a single-target fear curse that makes whomever she's targeting defenseless by covering said target in a black powder magic.
  • Trapped in Villainy: Until she's expelled from the church of Yatan, she was bound to complete her class quest chain as much as possible, under orders from the South Korean government who was sponsoring her as the fifth top ranker of the game.
  • World's Most Beautiful Woman: She's viewed as such amongst the masses. Particularly when it comes to Korean women.

     Katz

An arrogant rich celebrity, and one of the lead players of Satisfy. As a result of obtaining the 3rd newly discovered Epic-rated class, Blood Warrior, Katz's leveling speed shot up like wildfire early on, which brought him a lot of attention. When he first meets Grid early on, Katz was very dismissive of the rising young talent, and a total braggart. Katz eventually meets a wall in his hunting capability, because he couldn't gain equipment corresponding to his level. Thus, he joins Overgeared and becomes one of Grid's strongest allies.

  • Attack Reflector: The Unique-rated [Armor of Great Sorrow] that Katz wore during his early leveling phase had the ability to reflect 10% of incoming damage back at the attacker.
  • Badass Boast: After obtaining the Epic-rated Blood Warrior class around the time that he was 53rd in the unified rankings when it comes to highest level player, Katz announces to the world in an interview that he will rise up to #1...it didn't really work out for him due to eventually hitting a wall that stalled his leveling speed.
  • Black Sheep: As one of 3 siblings in his real world family, Katz is the one looked down on due to being the one lacking in intellect compared to his brother and sister, who are both considered geniuses. The one thing he does have over them is his better ability at being good at video games, but that's still apparently not enough for his parents to make him a successor of the family.
  • Blood Magic: With the right preparations, he can control the shed blood on the battlefield.
  • Bribing Your Way to Victory: During the Eternal War, he promised a large real-money reward to users who struck at and defeated a powerful opponent he could not deal with. Thousands of users took him up on it, and unleashed hell on the poor sop. Of course, he didn't pay a cent because he asked for proper video proof, so he could be fair in the distribution, and the users involved couldn't provide it.
  • Can't Catch Up: Katz's biggest downfall early on was his inability to acquire the right high-rated gear that come with special characteristics to help push his leveling speed to the next level. His two Unique-rated items, the [Armor of Great Sorrow] and the [Black Wind Gauntlets], when he stalled out around the 40th rank were considered to be quite bland despite being at the level of Unique. As a result, Katz comes to realize that he's not going to be able to go any further until he's able to get his hands on some top notch gear, which he does when he joins up with Grid's Overgeared Guild in order to have Grid forge for him some special gear.
  • Character Level: At the time of his introduction, Katz was mentioned to be the 53rd highest level player in the unified player rankings.
    • His leveling speed skyrocketed early on after obtaining the Blood Warrior Epic-class, but he stalled out around the 40th unified player rank due to his hunting hitting a wall.
  • Critical Status Buff: The Unique-rated [Armor of Great Sorrow] that Katz wore during his early leveling phase had the ability to buff all his stats by 5% when the armor drops below 100 durability. The overall durability of the armor is 310.
  • Evil Weapon: In a sense that his class makes his weapons look evil. Katz has a passive from his Blood Warrior class that's capable of transforming any weapon he's currently holding in his hands into a much more powerful, bizarre, and disgusting appearance. Almost as if he makes the sword come alive as some sort of hideous monster.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Seen using a sword.
  • Jerkass: There's a lot of rich arrogance to him early on, and it's clear that he's part of the Japan right-wing that looks down on Koreans as he's introduced calling out Yura and her fellow weak Korean players that the era of Korean gaming experts is over. Though he does eventually calm down somewhat once he becomes a part of the Overgeared Guild.
  • Jerkass Realization: He eventually realizes he was wrong to treat Grid dismissively and flex his then higher-enchanted sword against a newbie who managed to successfully enchant a weapon for the first time and was simply celebrating his achievement quietly.
  • Large Ham: He's a total braggart who wants all the attention on him. Katz brags to the media over how glorious he is after obtaining the Blood Warrior Epic-class, and when he encounters Grid in Winston, he butts into the spotlight by showing off his upgraded +8 sword to the nearby watchers moments after Grid got excited that he managed to upgrade his [Ideal Dagger] with weapon enhancement stones to +6.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After arrogantly boasting about how he will claim the #1 leveled player spot in the unified rankings thanks to his newly received Epic-rated Blood Warrior class, he stalls out around the 40th rank due to hitting a wall when it comes to his leveling speed compared to those still above them. The result is everyone watching his progress laughing at his failure to go any higher.
  • Life Drain: When Katz is using his Evil Weapon passive, all attacks gain a life-draining effect by returning some health to the user. The higher the attack power, the more health is returned.
  • Lightning Bruiser: The high attack power and battle speed of his Blood Warrior class is said to be unmatched, which he displays by quickly going around hunting high-level monsters, and results in rising him up in the unified rankings from 53rd to 40th. In addition, the Unique-rated [Black Wind Gauntlets] that he wore during this early leveling phase increased his Attack Speed by 5%, and Accuracy by 10%.
  • Pride: He prides himself as one of Japan's strongest, richest, and best players having grown up as the son of a leading Japanese conglomerate. He goes through a bit of humbling after he hits a wall trying to speed-level as his Blood Warrior class.
  • Rich People: He's extremely rich, which he uses to his advantage within game to get what he wants.
  • This Cannot Be!: His reaction to stalling out around the 40th rank in the unified player rankings. Katz refuses to accept the fact that he hit a wall around the 40th rank in the unified rankings as doing so would mean that just like he did in the real world, he failed to bypass the wall of his two genius siblings.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Inspired by the multi-national nature of Overgeared Guild, he expanded his real-life conglomerate and ignored the extreme right-wing Japanse faction, of which he was a member, to give the Korean immigrants, visa holders, and naturalized citizens of Japan in his territory jobs and fair treatment, giving him a huge PR bonus and making his business ventures prosper.

     Bullet

Formerly the number 2 necromancer of Immortal under Veradin, he joins Overgeared after Veradin throws the guild under the bus and Grid scouted him.

  • Broken Pedestal: He admired Agnus and Veradin, but after seeing that neither Agnus nor Veradin actually cared about the members, he became disillusioned.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He went from being in a group very antagonistic to Grid to serving Grid faithfully.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: When Veradin tried to throw Immortal under the bus to save himself, he turned on Veradin and fought back, almost losing his life in the process.
  • Secret Test of Character: Which he passed with flying colors. Grid sat back and watch Bullet and Veradin argue, and when it became obvious that Bullet was unaware of the plan to attack Khan, and actually tried to apprehend Veradin, Grid recruited Bullet to Overgeared.

NPC

     Piaro
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/piaro.jpg
His personality's rough, but he's got unlimited potential.

A powerful NPC who was once the best Knight of the Saharan Empire, but was forced into hiding within the Eternal Kingdom after being framed for treason by his second-in-command, Asmophel. Since then, Piaro has spent his time dreaming of one day getting his vengeance. He's first introduced when Euphemina is undertaking an S-ranked quest to hunt him down, which she ends up failing. Piaro then encounters Grid in Kesan Canyon, and tasks him to be his agent of vengeance after being impressed by Grid's ability to solo a Canyon Spider. Grid initially refuses due to lacking the time and skill to carry it out, but once Grid becomes a Duke of the Eternal Kingdom and is provided the Reidan territory near the border of the Saharan Empire, he comes back to take Piaro up on it. Piaro winds up becoming one of Grid's top Knights, and trains the Overgeared Guild in the ways of battle.

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Piaro found Grid calling him a "beggar" due to the formers's shoddy look when he was hiding out in Kesan Canyon really funny.
  • Berserk Button: Endangering the innocent is an easy way to tick him off since people who do such actions are those that Piaro hates most.
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: He makes Grid and various other members of Overgeared stronger, not by raising their levels or giving them new skills, but by teaching them how to use their skills more effectively. Unsurprisingly, Grid is his most difficult pupil.
  • Call to Agriculture: While Grid is off avenging him with Asmophel, he winds up tending Reidan's wheat fields, and he not only excels at it, but actually likes it. He also invokes this in others, as he challenges several users to combat, beats them, and generates a quest to tend the fields as well, which also boosts their combat classes as a fringe bonus.
  • Cursed Item: The Unique-Rated [Piaro's Longsword] that Piaro used as a weapon early on was technically a cursed item because it contains Piaro’s strong grudge. While it increases Accuracy by 10% and provides the Hatred Skill, the longsword also lowers the Stamina stat by 100. It's also said that there's a risk to using the sword.
  • Establishing Character Moment: He's introduced holding off Euphemina, a strong player with the Epic-rated class, Duplicator. Despite all the powerful copied skills Euphemina kept throwing at him, he stays strong to the point of forcing her to retreat and give up the quest to kill him. Overall, it displays quite effectively that Piaro is quite the badass.
  • Finishing Move: Whenever he uses the Fated to Perish skill. It's said to be a death sentence whenever someone is hit by it.
  • Flaming Sword: In his introduction fight against Euphemina, he's seen using a flame sword against her.
  • Frame-Up: Due to Piaro coming across a secret shady meeting regarding the Saharan Empress, Piaro and his other Red Knight comrades end up getting framed as traitors of the Saharan Empire by his second-in-command, Asmpohel, which drives them out of the empire and put on the brink of ruin. As a result, Piaro remains in hiding within the adjacent Eternal Kingdom seeking out an agent who will one day go through with his revenge quest against Asmophel.
  • Green Thumb: Once he becomes a farmer, he has somehow gained the ability to grow crops at incredible speeds and weaponize them.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Early on, Piaro was usually seen fighting with a longsword, the Unique-Rated [Piaro's Longsword]. He switches to farming equipment after farming becomes his second calling.
  • The Leader: Piaro was the original leader of the Saharan Empire's Red Knights before he was forced out.
  • Master Swordsman: He was said to have peak swordsmanship amongst all of the Saharan Empire's Knights, which he displays early on using a sword as his main weapon. He drops becoming the master of the sword after taking up farming, and becomes the Farmer class, much to Grid's annoyance since the latter wanted Piaro to become a master of the sword. In the end, Grid is forced to accept Piaro's change of path, especially when Piaro proves himself as a powerful Farmer fighter.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: He's managed to make his Farmer class a valid and lethal form of combat, once taking out an army of over 2000 soldiers with a field of wheat. It Makes Sense in Context.
  • Mysterious Watcher: When Piaro was hiding out in Kesan Canyon, this was basically his role watching over everything going on within the canyon. It's for this reason that Grid first got noticed by Piaro, who witnessed Grid solo a powerful Canyon Spider, and deemed Grid worthy to complete his revenge quest against Asmophel.
  • Once Killed a Man with a Noodle Implement: He's killed Satisfy users by flinging beans, rice, and peas at them, in addition to once spitting out some bones from his chicken dinner in a guy's face with so much force that the damage was fatal.
  • One-Man Army: He is such a powerful and skilled swordsman that he has wiped out multiple guilds all by himself.
  • Past Experience Nightmare: As a result of Euphemina casting a copied Nightmare Projection spell on him, Piaro ends up in a painful fight against a hallucination of Asmophel, which Piaro goes all-out against. Once Piaro breaks out of the spell, Euphemina is forced to retreat, and give up on the quest to kill him.
  • The Power of Hate: While how it works remains a mystery, the Hatred Skill provided from equipping [Piaro's Longsword] is heavily implied to center around this.
  • Quest Giver: He's an NPC shown to give out quests.
    • S-rank Quest: The True Traitor of the Red Knights - In order to get revenge on Asmophel for framing Piaro and other Red Knights as traitors to the Saharan Kingdom, Piaro offers Grid a quest to get revenge for him by punishing Asmophel. Grid refuses due to not believing he has the time and ability to do it, which Piaro adds his Unique-rated [Piaro's Longsword] as an additional reward. However, Grid once more rejects the quest for the same reason as before. The rejection angers Piaro, but instead of killing Grid due to believing that there's still a shred of hope, Piaro gives him an opportunity to return later if Grid ever feels capable enough to take on the quest.
  • Restored My Faith in Humanity: Grid recruiting him to work for the Overgeared Guild has greatly improved his outlook on life.
  • Revenge: Desires this against the Saharan Empire's imperial family due to them being behind his Frame-Up. Originally, he desired revenge against Asmophel for being the one who forced him out of the Saharan Empire. However, he reconciles with Asmophel after Grid's questing gets the two of them to meet, and explain how the situation happened.
  • Running Gag: As he's tending the fields in Reidan, rather than a gate-keeper, he challenges uninvited guests, duels them, and then forces them to work in the fields with a hidden quest.
  • The Scapegoat: During his time in Kesan Canyon, Grid uses Piaro as a scapegoat to take the attention of 11 Canyon Mermen that were attracted by Piaro's laughter to their location. However, it comes as a shock to Grid when he witnesses Piaro easily kill the 11 mermen with his swordsmanship. Piaro then calls out Grid as the type of person who will sacrifice innocents to survive, which is the type of person Piaro hates the most in the world. In return, Grid apologizes for using Piaro as a scapegoat.
  • Serious Business: He once duel Grid over the right to remain as the "Legendary Farmer."
  • Signature Move: His trump card is the Fated to Perish skill, which death is inevitable should one be hit by it.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: He hates Asmophel and the Saharan Empire's imperial family for driving out Piaro and his fellow Red Knight comrades to the brink of ruin. Though he does end up forgiving Asmophel once Piaro learns that Asmophel was also a victim of the Saharan Empress' schemes.
  • Trap Master: When Euphemina tried to kill him for her quest, Piaro is shown to be able to set up traps, such as spike floors, or walls that shoot arrows.
  • "World's Best" Character: He was considered the strongest Knight of the Saharan Empire.

     Braham
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2_826.jpg
Idiot Grid, you are so, so unworthy to be in my compnay, Baka!

Formerly the best friend of Pagma. His disembodied soul lay in wait at the bottom of a golem filled dungeon. When Grid cheated the treasure chests by forging a master key, he popped out and attacked the moment Grid opened the third chest. At that point, he gives an exposition dump that continues Grid's quest chain regarding [Pagma's Descendant].

  • The Arch Mage: Not only has he mastered just about every magic in Satisfy, but most of the spells were produced by him. The spells used by the player base are all degraded versions.
  • The Atoner: Deconstructed. He tries to atone for mistreating and murdering Muhmud out of paranoia by turning the guy into a lich and giving him eternal life, but Muhmud as a lich is suffering a Fate Worse than Death and has no control over his agency, even being compelled to commit terrible atrocities under the control of Agnus.
  • Break His Heart to Save Him: After Agnus forces him and Grid into repeated mandatory "Kill Muhmud" quests, he abandons Grid and flies off to parts unknown, looking for the sword grave where his body is buried, even though this causes his soul to splinter like a comet too close to the sun.
  • Brought Down to Normal: He was born a True Descendant vampire, but was cast out of Vampire society by Marie Rose and turned into a human by his mother Beriche, after he killed one of his clan in an attempt to break Yatan's [Curse of Sloth] that the God of Evil placed on vampires as a whole.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He came into the story as a major antagonist, but after bonding with Grid has become one of the biggest forces of good in the setting.
  • Hunk: His robes hide it, but he's got bulging biceps, six-pack abs, the works.
  • Hypocrite: He loathes and will never forgive Pagma for betraying him as Baal's contractor and killing him in the quest to save humanity from Yatan, but he is guilty of murdering several allies, including his own disciple Muhmud.
  • Immortality Seeker: He woked with Pagma to create Pravranium, a completely indestructable mineral, so he could use it as a phylactery and thus be able to completely avoid death. Unfortunately, Pagma died of old age before the process was completed. His part of the quest chain has Grid pick up where Pagma left off.
  • Mystical White Hair: His white hair serves as proof of his immense magical power.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: His "indestructible" golem army led the way for Grid to take the reigns of the guild to be known as Overgeared and set him on the path to become a king in his own right.
  • Only Friend: Inverted. Grid's the only friend he's got, and Grid's the only friend he ever wants. Satsify even sent a World Message to that effect.
  • Redemption Demotion: Joining up with Grid and getting his body back has greatly weakened him. He is slowly, but surely working to recover. Even so, he is still very dangerous if provoked.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes are red and not only is a powerful archmage, but he has little compuction about using his powers to annihilate people who offend him.
  • Smug Super: He is a powerful archmage and knows it. This is something he loves to go around browbeating into everyone he meets.
  • Stealing the Credit: Many, if not most, of the spells and accomplishments accredited to him were actually done by Muhmud, but Braham stole the credit out of fear that Muhmud, who was more talented, would turn on him.
  • Symbiotic Possession: For a significant part of the story, his soul dwelled in Grid's body, and he would take control at key points, taking away Grid's agency in exchange for immense power, destroying Grid's enemies in the process.
  • Transformation of the Possessed: Every time he took control of Grid's body, Grid's hair turned white, irises turned red, and Grid became a total hunk.
  • Troll: He frequently inconveniences Grid just for his own amusement.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Grid bicker and argue just for the heck of it all the time, but push comes to shove and they are truly fond of one another.

     Kassim

The top assassin NPC and last survivor of the Nero clan, he takes an immediate interest in Grid long, long before he even married Irene, and has been watching over Lord since the boy was born. He has an unquenchable hatred for all things Saharan Empire, especially Prince Charmless Dulandal.

  • Berserk Button: Anything that implies he and his people are "beasts" will drive him into an Unstoppable Rage since his entire race was massacred by Dulandal while the asshat called them beasts and loudly proclaimed they don't have any right to be treated like people, and that was the least offensive thing the empire did.
  • Casting a Shadow: One of his many assassin techniques is making soldiers from the shadows in the area and using them to fight.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Dresses all in black, uses shadows as weapons, has dark skin, but he's a good man who treasures and is treasured by Lord Steim.
  • Hitman with a Heart: He may be an assassin by trade, but he's a good, kind man and is adored by Lord Steim.
  • Last of Their Kind: He is the very last person of the Nero race, the rest having been treated as wild animals in a zoo and killed off by imperial nobles for a laugh.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: The genocide of his people for a laugh is an unforgiveable crime from the empire and when Duke Grenhald is in the audience chambers with King Grid, offering the empire's hand of friendship and condemning their attrocities, Kassim flies into a rage, brings a poisoned blade to the duke's neck and demands a duel to the death. Fortunately, cooler heads prevail, but Kassim is left on the floor a total mess, and Grenhald walks away chagrined.

     Asmophel

Piaro, I have failed you. Please kill me!

A powerful NPC who was Piaro's second-in-command Knight and best friend during their days in the Saharan Empire. Asmophel frames Piaro for treason and tries to have the latter repeatedly killed, such as his attempt to send Euphemina after him. However, when Grid is questing to carry out Piaro's vengeance, he learns that Asmophel was also a victim of Empress Marie and the Church of Yatan. That they drugged and brainwashed Asmophel into doing it, and kept him in a drugged and brainwashed state for years. When Asmophel's freed from this state, he remembers all he did and is completely suicidal with guilt. Grid brings him back to his Reidan territory and has both Piaro and Asmophel reconcile, making both men co-captains in training up a new Knight order for the city's defense.

  • The Atoner: Even though he remembers all of the vile things he did while drugged against his will, he still feels guilty for it and is trying to make amends working with Piaro under Grid.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Drugged by the Seventh Servant of Yatan, he did a great deal of villainy in the Sahara Empire against his will.
  • Defensive Feint Trap: By accident. During the Eternal War, he dressed as an enemy infantry-man, and tagged along with King Aslan's army, so he could sabotage them, playing a huge role in the defense of Bairan's citizens, taking out several commanders so Grid could successfully rout a 100,000 man army in protecting the citizens. He did not get a chance to change into his official knight armor before Grid's coronation, so he was in attendance wearing a simple leather jerkin. Some visiting barons from the neighboring kingdoms got all haughty and tried to browbeat Grid into giving each of them 36% of the GDP as a tribute, committing lese majeste in the process, by their very own standards. For the sake of diplomacy, Grid gave them a chance, "choose the guy you want to duel, and if you win, you're forgiven, lose and your country withdraws its demands." The first baron chose "the simple soldier" Asmophel and got wrecked, dying on the spot.
  • Number Two: Was this for Piaro back during their days as Knights of the Saharan Empire. After becoming a subordinate of Grid, he sorta falls back into this role being alongside Piaro again. However, Asmophel's usually off doing his own thing.
  • Please Kill Me if It Satisfies You: He brings sword to his own throat and begs both Grid and Piaro to kill him as payback for all the crimes he's done. Grid and Piaro decide to forgive him since he clearly was not in control of his actions.
  • Quest Giver: He's an NPC shown to give out quests.
    • S-rank Quest: Traitor of the Red Knights - At some point prior to Euphemina's introduction in the story, Asmophel, who's too ill to do it himself, gave Euphemina a quest to kill a powerful NPC named Piaro, who was deemed a traitor. Euphemina fights Piaro in the Eternal Kingdom's Kesan Canyon, but she fails the quest due to being unable to kill him.
  • Redemption Equals Life: He's grateful to Grid from helping him reconcile with Piaro and getting to live a new life.
  • Revenge: Originally, he desired revenge against Piaro believing the latter to be a traitor of the Saharan Empire. After Grid's questing gets the two of them to meet, Asmophel reconciles with Piaro upon learning that he was manipulated by Empress Marie and the Church of Yatan.
  • Running Gag: He repeatedly tries to tell people he's a talented Knight, but they just think he's a powerful, yet low-ranked soldier, and flee Reidan in terror, thinking that if the common soldiers are that powerful, how scarily strong must the knights be, leaving him in tears.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: He's completely incapable of telling when people are joking, so when even Grid calls him a very capable soldier, he breaks down completely and stops seeing himself as a knight, instead choosing to be a legendary soldier to please his new lord.

I will not let you have Irene, you scheming bastard!!

Earl Steim's top bodyguard and son of Earl Ashur. Completely unaware of his father's animosity towards Grid, he takes an immediate dislike towards our protagonist for winning over Irene's heart. He is eventually used as a hostage to ensure Ashur's good behavior, but eventually comes around to serve King Grid faithfully after tasting Reinard's cash-crop, the rainbow potatoes and growing to love them.

  • All Love Is Unrequited: He's carried a torch for Irene since the two of them were children. She winds up loving and marrying Grid instead, never returning his affections.
  • Call to Agriculture: When he gets to Reinard, Piaro puts him to work in the fields. He grows to like it when he's fed rainbow potatoes, and is always seen snacking on them, as tending the fields allows him to eat as many of them as he wants.
  • Engagement Challenge: When Grid is invited to an audience with Earl Steim, he demands a duel with Grid to keep Irene out of Grid's hands. Grid wins the duel handily despite being over a 100 levels lower.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Originally very antagonistic to Grid, he comes around after being in Grid's service for a while, trained by Piaro in the fields of Reinard.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Literally. He starts the story as a Steim knight and wears sparkling plate-mail.
  • Spell My Name With An S: His name in the novel and on the other wiki is translated as "Bland." His name in the manhua is translated as "Brand" as seen in the page image.

King Grid. I will now outline your sins against the Sahara Empire!
  • The Ace: She is the #1 knight in the entire Sahara Empire.
  • Aggressive Negotiations: In the form of "do as we want, or our army will trample your kingdom to the ground."
  • Ambadassador: She's the envoy sent to "negotiate" with the Overgeared Kingdom.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: Completely loyal to the Sahara Empire and turns a blind eye to the country's nastiness, until it slaps her in the face.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: She always swears complete obedience to whomever she sees as master until she's summarily dismissed.
  • Revenge Myopia: She wants bloody vengeance against the successor "The Undefeated King Madra" because he destroyed an army of 50,000 and the top commanders, members of her knight order. Problem is, that army were the aggressors and initiated the fight by marching on a country that didn't want to suffer genocide under the empire's heel.
  • Wrong Side All Along: When she meets Piaro and Asmophel, hearing from Asmophel's own mouth how Piaro was framed and Asmophel was played by Marie, her faith in the Empire was horribly shaken.
