    The Nanamis 

Nagi Nanami

The monitor of the Neo World Program and the main protagonist of the story, she promise she would help save her Classmate and friends to fix what she did wrong.


  • An Arm and a Leg: Is first seen in a wheelchair at the start of the story which later is reveal that Junko ordering Mukuro to kill her and bring back a body part to show she finish it which she choose her legs. Which Nagi still has trouble walking but is managing by herself but in Side: Future Kazuichi has made robotic legs for Nagi to make walking much easier which now she can walk without needing assistance.
  • Action Girl: Before losing her legs and training with Nekomaru and Akane; she can be able to do a few actions that get put to question -
    • During the Summer; as Sonia, Hiyoko and Nagi were chasing down Yasuhiro who stole Nagi's wallet, as Yasuhiro was getting away - Nagi gave chase and was able to dodge a thrown garbage can.
    • As Osako was having a panic attack which as she attack Nagi she did hapkido technique as she place Osako onto the ground to calm her down.
    • Nagi during the entire execution as she was able to dodge every trap that Junko had set up and prepare for her to have her killed which while she did get hit with spikes, she was able to survive.
  • Affectionate Nickname: refers to Hajime as 'Haji' at times.
  • Artificial Limbs: Due to her losing her legs, she has started to use robotic legs for standard needs like going to the kitchen, bathroom and common needs but she has trouble climbing stairs if they don't have ledges.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Nagi has light blue eyes that match with her cerulean blue hair.
  • Dude Magnet: As Nagi herself being a Youtube present and even seen as 'pretty' along with her personality, she has gain quite a few admirers and certain people being attracted to her that she isn't sure how to deal with.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Due to Nagi being the Ultimate Gamer, she tends to have all-nighters when playing video games but now a days she can barely get any sleep at all due to constantly having nightmares and needing Hajime to be with her to sleep at night.
  • Gamer Chick: Counting this is her talent and she's a girl, this however has cause her more trouble due to other gamers thinking they deserve the title more then her which has cause her grief for both her and her parents.
  • Groin Attack: She accidentally kicked Teruteru in the crotch which had cause a running where Teruteru has loss his ability to reproduce.
  • Godlike Gamer: As she is the Ultimate Gamer she knows the various workings of video games, information that not many people would know of, coding, even is a skilled programmer which she pick up from her father - she can be able to critique games that she likes and point out the flaws.
  • Hiding the Handicap: Back at Hope's Peak, Nagi was masking her Autism from the others due to the trauma connected to her grandparents from her dad's side that fear others thinking she was useless or less than and she rather not have people view her as weak but when Nagi was having a bad week, it became more noticing until where she was close to killing herself but was stop and is getting help.
  • Jack of All Trades: Aside from gaming, she has started to pick up skills that go from outside her talent; ranging from programming, cooking, cleaning, nursing and even pick up things like surgery, farming, fishing and driving a boat.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: At the start, Nagi had a hard time making friends and tends to find it hard but thanks to Chisa; she was able to befriend most of her Class and more.
  • Like Parent, Like Spouse: Nagi seem to have fallen for Hajime due to him sharing a lot of the good personality traits she saw in her parents.
  • Mental Health Recovery Arc: Nagi's Story is about her going to therapy and becoming better as a person, even it becoming the sole reason she had no fallen into despair and while she still struggles - she plans to keep working on herself to be better as a person.
  • Mood-Swinger: Nagi can be seen as moody, upbeat and cheerful or even to points of being depressed easily or even worse finds it hard to talk with people or rather be left alone when she's getting overwhelmed.
  • Parental Neglect: Downplayed which as Tenmei and Harumi do work overseas for there jobs, Nagi doesn't hate them and understands that they can't be around all the time plus they do get money which them working overseas is sadly a common issue in Japan.
  • Official Couple: With Hajime Hinata.
  • Perky Goth: Despite getting depressed easily, not getting much sleep and even having her moments; she tends to be upbeat and quite friendly the others - especially when speaking about video games or making friends.
  • The Insomniac: With how busy her schedule is, she tends to not have the best sleep schedule and is often recommended to get as much sleep as she can.
  • Too Unhappy to Be Hungry: When Nagi gets depressed, she tends to not eat much and was ask by Mikan to eat more.
  • Trauma Button: Due to the events of the Killing School Trip - Nagi's trauma had begun to resurface and is struggling with it but is getting better.
  • Troubled Backstory Flashback: Nagi when thinking back to her times during Hope's Peak and how it got to where they are now during the tragedy and some are even block out by her.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: At the start, Nagi was not use to socializing with other kids around her age at her school and has often turn to video games as a form of escapism and a coping mechanism that she finds it hard to socialize with others when it isn't about video games.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Nagi has her mother's hair but has her father's eyes.
  • Understanding Girlfriend: The genderbend version of it, as Nagi is a pretty understanding and supporitive girlfriend for Hajime; even if Hajime himself thinks he doesn't deserve her...

Tenmei Nanami

Nagi's father and the one that help create the groundwork for the Neo World Program, He was formerly Hope's Peak Ultimate Game Designer which he seems to have a love for games and but loves his daughter just as much which the 2 bond over.


  • Been There, Shaped History: Tenmei Nanami had created the ground works for the Neo World Program back when he was a Hope's Peak student due to him being the Ultimate Game Designer and even still help program the entire simulation which is daughter helped.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: A trait he shares with his daughter and even the same work ethic too.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: Nagi seems to get her eye colour from Tenmei.
  • Good Parents: Despite him neglecting his daughter, he still tries to be a good father to Nagi.
  • Happily Married: Even after being married to Harumi and having Nagi, the 2 still love each other very much.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: Much like his daughter, he also fell for a Reserve Course student. In this case, his wife.
  • Papa Wolf: As hearing of Nagi's plan to restore her friends back to normal, Tenmei has help Nagi with her plan by help program the Neo World Program and was even the one that got Makoto, Byakuya and Kyoko into the Neo World Program during the final trial.
  • Playful Hacker: As an expert with computers and gaming code, he seems to have a good time with coding it.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Tenmei is pretty chill about his daughter's dreams and wants to support her as much as he can.
  • Shed the Family Name: Tenmei took his wife's surname since he wanted to cut ties from his parents for not supporiting his career, who he's with and even how they treated there granddaughter.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Tenmei is seen as a fun dad compare to Nagi who at most times is serious.

Harumi Nanami

Nagi's mother, a women that works as a nurse that loves her daughter and worries for her and her husband which Nagi idolizes her mom. Harumi could be see as a hard worker and supportive person but she does mean well and is in a much better place.


  • Former Teen Rebel: When attending the Reserve Course, she often hung around a group of bad girls who motivated her into doing bad choices.
  • Happily Married: Even after being married to Tenmei and having Nagi, the 2 still love each other very much.
  • Hospital Hottie: Harumi works as a nurse for 20 or so years, and still looks pretty good for a women in her 40's.
  • Good Parents: Despite her neglecting her daughter, she still tries to be a good mother to Nagi - she has even gone to learn English to try to understand her daughter's autism.
  • Lethal Chef: Nagi mentions that her mother's cooking is so bad that they often had to order take out and even she had to learn cooking herself which Harumi takes great offense to.
  • Mama Bear: As when hearing of Nagi's plan to restore her friends back to normal, Harumi decide to help her daughter as well by nursing the Remanats of Despair and taking care of them.
  • One Degree of Separation: She was working as a nurse when Master Utsuro was first born which lead to the birth of Nagi.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Shares the same open-mindedness as her husband.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Nagi seems to take after her mother in terms of appearance quite a bit except for her eyes.

Hitomi Nanami

The mother of Harumi Nanami and grandmother of Nagi Nanami, A retired Kindergarden teacher that watch over Nagi while her daughter and son-in-law work overseas.


  • Cool Old Lady: Is pretty chill and supportive of her daughter which she understands Nagi and her autism.
  • Misplaced Kindergarten Teacher: She was a retired teacher which has lead to her raising Nagi, who turn out well for the most part.
  • Parental Substitute: Was the one that took care of Nagi when her parents are away, which Nagi seems to have good relations with too.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Her daughter and granddaughter seem to take on her appearance a bit except Harumi has her eyes as well.

Azuma

A family friend of the Nanami's that checks on Nagi and his Nagi's boss at her part-time job.


  • Benevolent Boss: Nagi's boss at her part-time job at a game store she works at, he treats her pretty nicely.
  • Best Friends-in-Law: Is a family friend of Tenmei and Harumi that checks up on Nagi if Nagi's parents or Hitomi aren't around.

Hiroshi Hinata

Hajime's father, A man bitter about events that happen in the past and often has try to push his son into being successful but deep down does care for him on some level.


  • Alliterative Name: Hiroshi Hinata.
  • Family Drama: He once had a beloved brother who was the Ultimate Lawyer but was killed after crossing paths with a yakuza. After his death, his parents forced him to attend Hope's Peak in the hopes that he'd find some useful talent and make a worthy living for himself. He even ended up in the Reserve Course when he couldn't find one. The ongoing pressure and depression resulted in Hiroshi developing a disdain for the talent system and ultimately cut ties with his parents.
  • Happy Marriage Charade: His and Keiko's Marriage, as say by Hajime that the 2 are in a pretty loveless marriage.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: Inverted. Hiroshi attended the Reserve Course of Hope's Peak to obtain some form of talent and future. But unlike his son who went on his own free will, Hiroshi was forced to attend by his demanding parents.
  • Like Parent, Like Spouse: Nagi's 'never give up' attitude reminds Hajime of his dad.
  • Mercy Kill: Nagi confirmed that Hiroshi got turn into a vegetable by Izuru via lobotomy, which was use for the Hope Cultivation Plan which when Future Foundation Found him - they shot him in the head.

Keiko Hinata

Hajime's mother, An insecure women that is quite talented but tends to be ignore or compared due to how plain and boring she is but she seems to love her husband, Hiroshi very much.


  • Almighty Mom: Hajime tends to complain about her but tends to be afraid of her when he starts yelling at him.
  • Chez Restaurant: She works as a waitress at a fancy resturant to make ends meet.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She admits to this when she first meets Nagi, which Nagi doesn't seem to like very much and left when she got like that.
  • Happy Marriage Charade: Her and Hiroshi's Marrage, as say by Hajime that the 2 are in a pretty loveless marriage.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: She admits that she was once like Hajime as she too tried a variety of activities and skills to be "special" in her youth but was never able to succeed.
  • Like Parent, Like Spouse: Hajime admits to Nagi that her doing multiple things and talents reminds him of his mother at times except finding Nagi to being much more pleasent.
  • Supreme Chef: Is a very good cook that she helps with making food at her job and Hajime likes her food too and even cooks it as he remembers it.

Noriaki Hinata

Hajime's uncle, he was at Hope's Peak as the Ultimate Lawyer and is known well but died during his Hope's Peak Years when taking a case against a very dangerous Yakuza Group.


  • Crusading Lawyer: Is his talent and was very good at it.
  • Identical Nephew: Hajime seems to resemble his late uncle quite greatly.
  • Family Drama: His death cause his parents to be harsh on his younger brother and force him to get a talent which Hiroshi to become very bitter about the whole thing.

    The Soudas 

Kenji Souda

Kazuichi's father, A genuinely laidback guy that’s affectionate and loves to tease. But can have a temper when the stress gets to him and tends to lash out impulsively.


  • Abusive Parents: While he did hit Kazuichi in the past and has come to regret it, he does try to be supporitive of his son's interest.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: He likes to tease Kazuichi at times but only does so because he cares for him.
  • Awful Wedded Life: Kenji claims that his wife used to stalk him when they were in high school and he only married her out of desperation. It also didn't work since she was, in his words, a "crappy mother" to Kazuichi.
  • Freudian Excuse: His abuse came from his shitty wedding, drinking and how bad the business was going which has lead him to hitting Kazuichi, he does regret still hitting Kazuichi and was trying to get better.
  • Going Cold Turkey: He wishes to stop drinking which he promise Kazuichi after he became a Hope's Peak Student... sadly that gets backfired horribly as he went back to drinking due to the tragedy.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: He works as a bike shop mechanic and his son is the Ultimate Mechanic, Kenji jokes that Kazuichi could grow up to be like him if he got rid of the dye and didn't mess up his teeth.
  • So Proud of You: Kenji is proud that his son got to be the Ultimate Mechanic and even was the one that called him a 'genius' despite the time the 2 butt heads.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Kazuichi gets his eye colour from his dad.
  • Tough Love: Can be like this towards his son at times but he only does it because he cares.

Hiyoko Souda

Kazuichi's mother, A stalker of Kenji's that later got married to him and ended up being a terrible mother which she was neglectful and even mocked Kazuichi for his interest; it is even where Kazuichi got his obessive stalker-ish traits from.


  • Abusive Parents: Was a horrible mother to Kazuichi, neglected and even made fun of it - never supporitng his dreams ot interest at all.
  • Awful Wedded Life: Was an awful wife and mother, as she was very abusive to her son and would of been worse if he was born a girl.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: A bad example as Kazuichi got his stalker-ish, obessive traits from his mother.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Was this to Kenji and Kenji only went for her because his parents were pushing him to have a kid, even worse is that Kazuichi got his stalker-ish traits from.

    The Kuzuryuus 

Toshiro Kuzuryuu

Fuyuhiko and Natsumi's father, A intelligent and well organized man that tends be rather ruthless. He believes that emotions will get you killed and rarely feels empathy. Which can make him hypocritical when he does get blinded by rage.


  • Abusive Parents: He's mostly abusive towards Peko and seems to ignore when his kids complain about how he treats her.
  • Kick the Dog: Is this towards Peko if she fails an order, even slaps her across the face for failing to protect Natsumi... and worse is that Peko is okay with it and respects her master.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Fuyuhiko had killed his father which to become the head of the Kuzuruyu Clan like Toshiro wanted.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Sadly Fuyuhiko gets his height from his father, something he isn't too happy with.
  • Thicker Than Water: Toshiro is a strict traditionalist and believes that blood is thicker than family, not even viewing Peko as his adopted child which that opinion is not uncommon in Japan as blood relation is more important as family than non blood related relatives.
  • Tough Love: Is this way towards Fuyuhiko to toughen him to become the next heir after he finishes at Hope's Peak.
  • Virtue Is Weakness: Toshiro believes that emotions is for the weak and is training Fuyuhiko to learn this once he becomes the head of the Kuzuryuu Clan.
  • Yakuza: His primary occupation.

Yukiko Kuzuruyuu

Fuyuhiko and Natsumi's mother, Yukiko tends to be rather passive when it comes to her husband, only speaking up against him when she feels to. When it comes to her kids, she’s a strict caring mother that does everything in her power to make sure her kids are upstanding citizens.


  • Almighty Mom: Fuyuhiko and Natsumi are more scared of Yukiko then they are of Toshiro, who's the boss of the Clan.
  • Calling the Young Man Out: She does this to Fuyuhiko and Natsumi's if they deserve and in Natsumi's case, it's well earn.
  • Dope Slap: Often gives one to Natsumi if she starts to bully anyone and will not put up with it.
  • Mama Bear: Despite with how she treats her kids, she can get very protective of them - even kill people if they try.
  • Parental Substitute: Is this towards Peko or at least tries to be, even apologizing to Peko to the very end.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: It's clear that the Kuzuryuu siblings get their looks from their mom.

Natsumi Kuzuruyuu

Fuyuhiko's younger sister and from the Reserve Course, a spoiled brat that tends to mouth off and causes trouble for others.


  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Natsumi can be like this towards Fuyuhiko.
  • Daddy's Girl: She has this relationship towards Toshiro who she tends to favor a lot more then her mother.
  • Dumb Blonde: The girl isn't too bright when it comes to insulting others and thinks that the only way to gain talent or validation is by being mean to others.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Can get envious of others very easily and even lashes out at those that are better then her or even are eyeing the same guy she likes.
  • Hidden Depths: Natsumi displays great leadership even Osako admits it, but Natsumi sadly isn’t aware of it.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: She wants to be the Ultimate Little Sister just so she can stand by Fuyuhiko and Peko.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: She thinks she's better then everyone in the Reserve Course and acts all high and mighty but deep down wants validation.
  • Shipper on Deck: Is this towards Fuyuhiko and Peko, thinking the 2 should just admit there feelings to each other.
  • Smug Snake: Acts really high and mighty as she wants to be the Ultimate Little Sister and get out of the Reserve Course to be with Fuyuhiko and Peko.
  • Spoiled Brat: Tends to whine when she doesn't get her way and thinks she can get her talent magically without putting in no effort.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She takes after her mother in terms of looks
  • The Bully: Was this to Mahiru, Osako and recently Nagi which the latter she was planning to apologize to.
  • Tsundere: Tends to be quite a haughty young lady and is not the best at expressing her feelings.

Kaoru Owari

Akane's Father, a man that often sleeps with other women and often relies on Akane to get the money.


  • Freudian Excuse: It's implied that the reason he's so shameless is because the death of his first wife, Rumiko, left him feeling empty and miserable.
  • May–December Romance: He's 53 and one of his wives (Honoka) is 28.
  • Parental Neglect: He was this as he never care for he kids at all, but this does get zigzagged when Hope's Peak was being over run by Reserve Course Students as Kaoru call Akane tell her that he's coming to get her... too bad it's too little too late.
  • Really Gets Around: The scumbag has no shame when flirting with any woman he meets in public, as if the wife he currently has isn't good enough for him.
  • Remarried to the Mistress: Kaoru marries Honoka, one of the women that he cheated with when he was with Narumi which Hianta really hates him for a reason.

Rumiko Owari nee' Fujimoto

Akane's birth mother. Rumiko was a hardworking, serious and well adjusted woman who was also upbeat and fun when given the time for it. She dreamt of becoming a gymnast in the Olympics.


Narumi Owari

Akane's first stepmom. Narumi’s described to be a woman under a lot of stress and panics a lot when there’s chaos around her, but somehow manages to get things done.


  • Driven to Suicide: Stress got the better of her and she took her own life through bloody means.
  • Mood-Swinger: According to Akane, she had really bad mood swings.

Honoka Owari

Akane's second stepmom. She's often chill with her kids doing whatever they want but can go to points of being careless.


  • Child Eater: Was force to eat her 2 youngest babies which she died from.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Inverted. Apparently Honoka is comfortable with her whore of a husband chasing after other unfortunate women.
  • Death by Irony: She's a vegetarian but was force to eat her children.
  • Eats Babies: Ate her 2 own babies which she died from.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Honoka's fate.
  • Mama Bear: As careless as she is, Honoka makes it clear that no one is allowed to hurt her kids. Even the ones that aren't hers.
  • Older Than They Look: She could pass for Akane's sister.
  • Permissive Parents: She doesn't mind letting the children do as they want.

Hinata Owari

Akane's birth younger brother and Yota Owari's twin brother. He tends to be more concern about family concerns and often butts head with his father.


  • Big Brother Instinct: While blind; he ran off with Hideki and carry Teruko to safety as to protect his 2 remaining siblings.
  • Blind Without 'Em: A dark example as due to Akane punching Hinata's eyes, he became blind and is force to wear glasses so he can see.
  • Calling Parents by Their Name: He often refers to Kaoru by his first name.
  • Only Sane Man: Pretty much the sane one of his sibling and the one to take care of them.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: He's the responsible and serious twin to his laidback brother.
  • Promotion to Parent: Given the ongoing disfunction of the Owari adults, Hinata places himself as responsible for the well being of his younger siblings.
  • Straight Gay: Is confirmed to be gay but is the most sane character in the blog as he tries to make sense of a situation.

Yota Owari

Akane's birth younger brother and Hinata's twin brother. Unlike Hinata - he tends to be layback like his father and a flirt too.


Itsumi Owari

Akane's 1st half sister, the 1st daughter of Narumi Owari and the older sister of Mei and Hideki Owari - a girl that tends to be serious but can be very childish.


  • Adorably Precocious Child: Tries very hard to act mature for the sake of the family but she's still just a kid.
  • Appetite Equals Health: Itsumi does often ask about food or at least does try to help in the kitchen as much as she can.
  • Death of a Child: She was killed by Akane and Teruteru.
  • Team Chef: She often is worry for food and hopes to become a chef.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Despite being a child, she is pretty smart and is often the one taking care of the other kids if she can.

Hideki Owari

Akane's 1st half brother, the 1st son of Narumi Owari and the younger brother of Itsumi Owari and older brother of Mei Owari. A bright naive boy with a endless optimism.

Mei Owari

Akane's 2nd half sister, the 2nd daughter of Narumi Owari, the younger sister of Itsumi Owari and Hideki Owari - Like Akane, she's a massive tomboy and is often playing around but tends to make comments she doesn't understand yet.


Teruko Owari

Akane's 3rd half sister, the 1 daughter of Honoka Owari and the older sister of Haruto and Jubei Owari - As a toddler and preschooler, Teruko was a shy timid girl that clings to her older siblings that likes keeping to herself.

Akane's 2nd and 3rd half brothers, the 2 sons of Honoka Owari and the younger brothers of Teruko Owari - The 2 are babies.


  • Death of a Child: He was killed by Akane and Teruteru.
  • O.C. Stand-in: the 2 are still babies at the time and haven't devoloped a personality so people can do whatever they want with the twins.

Mahiru's father and was the former Ultimate Construction Worker, Hitoshi was a proud man that has the best skills on helping his family’s construction business but now a days he's a become depressed, bitter and lazy after an accident that occur.


  • Adults Are Useless: Hitoshi feels this way after he became paralyzed and wishing he can do things with his daughter.
  • Career-Ending Injury: He ended up paralyzed from the waist down due to an accident that resulted in him ending up in a wheelchair, which he has become very depressed and bitter about.
  • Bury Your Disabled: He is bound to a wheelchair and gets killed by Mahiru.
  • Disabled Means Helpless: He feels this way about his situation, especially when Mahiru starts to complain about it.

Hiyoko's grandmother, Izumi’s the embedment of a backwards minded traditional old lady. She always wears a frown on her face and only is happy on what she thinks is good, even if others are not.


  • Dark Secret: She did not want Hiyoko to find out about Kohaku's death and ask Maiko to keep quiet about it... too bad that didn't last long.
  • Death by Irony: Izumi died doing the Butoh or the 'Japanese dance of death' which was the first ever dance that Izumi had ever done and was the one that got her recongize by Hope's Peak.

Hiyoko's mother, Maiko did start as this rebellious teen that refused to follow her mom’s rules. After being disciplined by Izumi she’s now more obedient. Maiko nowadays is just Izumi’s “yes ma’am” daughter that doesn’t try to break to the rules.

Teruteru's mother. Miyamiya is a timid, but loving and optimistic woman. She used to be a blind hopeless romantic that blindly falls for the worst boys.

Ui was a high school student that had a promising career as an artist and had a future in the art world but then her art instructor, who took a fancy in her drug her and raped her, resulting in her being preganat.
