Chun Yeowun

Chun Yeowun in manhwa adaptation
The seventh prince of Demonic Cult. Despite being acknowledged as throne heir’s candidate, his mother was a mere servant of Lord Chun Yujong. Leaving him not supported by strong clans forces like the other six princes. When he was almost killed by assassins sent by one of his step brothers, he was saved by his descendant from year 2900s who later equipped him with the newest version of Nano Machine to help him fix his unfortunate fate and become the next Lord of Demonic Cult.
  • A Father to His Men: Yeowun is really looked up to by his subordinates. On the other hand, he absolutely cares for them, and helps as much as he can to make them stronger.
  • The Ace: With Nano's helps, Yeowun almost always excels in everything he does. It is then revealed by Chun Museong, his descendant, that Yeowun still became Demonic Cult Crown Prince without Nano, despite the huge disadvantages he had over his siblings
  • Acquired Poison Immunity: Nano is able to recognize and neutralize any kind of poison that entered Yeowun's body.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the novel, Chun Yeowun is described as having long black hair. In the ``manhwa``, he is depicted as a brunet.
  • Ancestral Weapon: His Sky Demon Sword once belonged to Ancestor Chun Ma, the founder of the Demonic Cult. Whoever inherits the weapon is called Chun Ma, and only the chosen one can wield this sword.
  • Arch-Enemy: Blade God had to time travel to impede Chun Yeowun’s past as he couldn’t defeat him in the present.
  • Assassination Attempt: Yeowun had to face multiple murder attempts ever since he was born.
  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: A very heartwarming moment, even. The crown bestower was none other than Guard Jang, whom Yeowun thought should be still bedridden after being saved from Wise Clan's torture. But he got better thanks to Baek Jongmeng and Ou Sunong. Even the usually cold-hearted Yeowun couldn't hold back his tears for this little surprise prepared by Hu Bong and the others.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Yeowun, even without Nano, is actually a capable thinker himself. His strong instinct always led him to find interesting clues that may be useful and asked Nano to do further analysis.
  • Betty and Veronica: For Yeowun, his academy mate and faithful follower Mun Ku is the Betty, while Wang Yogun whom he's forced to sleep with because of her strange disease, is the Veronica. Both of them end up marrying him.
  • Child of Forbidden Love: Cult Lords were only allowed to take wives from the highest six clans. Yeowun was son of a slave Lord Yujong fell in love with.
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Initially, it seemed like Lord Chun Yujong used Yeowun’s status as his bastard child as the bait to put pressure on the six clans. By making the six clans hated Yeowun, they would be blinded by urges to kill the prince, which would create legal reasons for Lord Yujong to bit by bit strip powers of the six clans. However, it was then revealed that Yujong really care for Yeowun. He didn’t attend Lady Hwa’s funeral, out of fear he would hurt Yeowun due to the side-effects he suffered for using a forbidden technique he used during war. That being said, those side-effects were also blamed for him throwing away his feelings for his son, and eventually using him as a bait to avenge his mother and wife’s deaths.
  • Despair Event Horizon: For the first time, since gaining Nano, Yeowun thought that he would surely die when he fell into a bottomless cliff during Sword Creek Arc.
  • Face Death with Dignity: In the prolog. He didn’t cower at the assassins swinging their swords to kill him.
  • Friendless Background: Yeowun lived a very lonely childhood. After his mother died when he was 10, he lived with and was raised only by his guard, Jang Gageng. The other clans did not want to get attached to The Unfavorite prince, as it would make them enemies of the six clans.
  • Healing Hands: With Nano's help, Yeowun managed to fix blockage in Mun Yu's blood circulation, curing his inability to speak normally.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: During Sword Creek Arc, when he, Mun Ku, Hu Bong, and Yang Danwa trapped in a cave filled with exploding bombs, he used his force energy to push out his followers out of the cave, leaving him engulfed by flames and fell into a bottomless cliff.
  • Hot Consort: He is married to two stunning beauties.
  • Improbable Age: Yeowun became a superior-ranked warrior and passed the almost impossible sixth test. Earning him the title "elder" at the age of 18. Most warriors barely reached super master level at their forties or even older.
  • It's Personal: Despite it seemed like Yeowun attacked Jongsum to avange Bak Gi, the real reason was because Jongsum used the same poison that killed Yeowun's mother.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: His hair got longer after 3 years time skip during their academy times, and he kept it that way.
  • Made of Iron: He’s really tough to begin with. For addition, Nano was almost always able to heal his wounds quickly.
  • No-Sell: During the first test, he was immune to soundwave attack from Hang Soyu, thanks to Nano rendering his sense of hearing useless.
  • Physical God: He was regarded as the second Chun Ma. Father Chun Ma is the name of their cult founder, whom also regarded as a god-like being.
  • Secret-Keeper: Of Mun Ku's identity as a girl, during their academy times.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Lord Yujong and Lady Mu noted how Yeowun inherited many features from his late mother, much to the former’s guilt feelings and the letter’s resentment.
  • Talented, but Trained: Despite having great amount of talents, wits, and Nano by his side, he realized he couldn't defeat his siblings without enough fighting experiences.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Yeowun, after became the new Lord of Demonic Cult, is really loved by the cultists. They didn’t even try to hide their killing urges once an important guest from Imperial Palace disrespected him. His legacy was even respected until hundred years later.
  • Unwanted Harem: Chun Yeowun developed a distaste for polygyny because his father's other wives used to harass him and his mother throughout his childhood. He turns down proposals for political marriage. makes it clear that he isn't interested in marrying multiple women, and insists on having a faithful and monogamous relationship with his girlfriend, Mun Ku. However, he is forced to sleep with Wang Yogun in order to cure her disease. Mun Ku herself persuades Chun Yeowun to do so and the latter takes no pleasure in the act. In the epilogue, it is revealed that Chun Yeowun married Mun Ku and Wang Yogun, and had children with both his wives. The Golden Gumiho is so devoted to Chun Yeowun that she is dubbed as his unofficial third wife. Whether Chun Yeowun gave in to the Golden Gumiho's affections or not remains unknown.
  • Warrior Prince
  • World's Best Warrior/ World's Strongest Man: He eventually becomes one after assuming the Heavenly Demon title. Throughout the story, Chun Yeowun never loses a battle and every fight ends with him utterly dominating the opponent. But despite gaining several new skills and abilities, Chun Yeowun admits that he is not the best warrior in history. That distinction belongs to his ancestor, Chun Ma. Even after achieving Chun Ma's cultivation level, Chun Yeowun inwardly admits that Chun Ma was even stronger.
  • Youngest Child Wins: Yeowun is the underdog seventh prince who won the succession war to become the 24th Demonic Cult Lord.

This fact of course angered Mun Ku's grandfather.

Nevertheless, Yeowun was well-aware of his efforts, and acknowledged him as his first loyal servant. At the end of the first novel, he becomes a peak superior master, outranking most of Yeowun's subordinates.
  • Human Popsicle: In the Descent Of Demon God, Chun Yeowun is shocked that Hu Bong managed to survive over a thousand years. Chun Yujong

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2021_04_12_13_39_19_33.png
The 23rd Lord of Demonic Cult. Later, his son, Chun Yeowun would succeed him as the 24th Lord.
  • Arranged Marriage: To the six women of the six clans.
  • Broken Ace
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Becoming the victim of this, as well as doing this to his own son, Yeowun.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He was talented in martial arts, but he wasn’t the true descendant of Sword Clan, so he wasn't welcomed.
  • Death Glare: During Demonic Academy entrance ceremony, Yeowun thought that Yujong gave him this. While it’s actually Yujong being overwhelmed with feelings as he’s finally able to see his son whom he secretly protected for ten years.
  • Generation Xerox: Like Yeowun, Chun Yujong was not actually from the six clans. His mother was adopted into Sword Clan, because the clan’s daughter was thought to be infertile, until the daughter eventually bore a son, Chun Yujing. Making him Yujong’s step younger brother. Yujong was told by their clan’s elders to make way for Yujing to become Lord, despite Yujong’s talents actually far exceeded Yujing.
  • Last Girl Wins: He never loved the 6 women from 6 clans he had to take as wives. He instead fell in love with Hwa Yun, his servant, who later became his seventh wife.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Lady Hwa's death really shatters Lord Yujong.
  • Man Behind the Man: Yi Burwi is this to him.
  • More than Mind Control: What Yi Burwi did to him, to the point he ended up killing his own feeling for his son, Yeowun.
  • Properly Paranoid: He was forced to move Hwa Yun and her baby far away from Demonic Cult Palace, making it difficult for him to ensure their safety. His worries are proven to be reasonable by Hwa Yun's poisoning and Yeowun's multiple murder attemps. He had to secretly protect his son by pressing down the 6 clans whenever they are caught harming Yeowun.
  • The Stoic
  • Strong Family Resemblance: His oldest son, Chun Muyeon, very much resembles his look.
  • We Used to Be Friends: His younger step-brother, Chun Yujing, used to protect him from his step-mother's hostile attitude. He soon changed after they entered the academy. Yujing, along with the other princes, began to wary of his outstanding talents.
  • Youngest Child Wins: Averted. He’s the older of Sword Clan brothers. His son though, plays this trope completely straight.

Chun Inji

The 22nd Lord of Demonic Cult. He is the son of Chun Ma-Jong and is Chun Yeowun's grandfather.
  • The Ace: Chun Inji was one of the few people in the history of the Demonic Cult to clear the notoriously difficult sixth test i.e. defeat an elder. He figured out a way to partially use the lost martial art, Sword Force Of The Heavenly Demon. He was successful as the Lord of the Demonic Cult and was regarded as one of the Five Strongest warriors of his time.
  • Badass in Distress: To infiltrate the Blade God Six Martial Clan, Chun Inji let himself captured. Unfortunately, he had to endure ten years of torture and was mind controlled as a meat shield for fifteen years until he was rescued by the Demonic Cult.
  • Big "WHAT?!": His reaction after learning that Chun Yeowun had properly mastered the long lost Sword Force Of The Heavenly Demon. Chun Inji was planning to teach his grandson his incomplete version of the martial art.
  • Cool Old Guy: Is over eighty years old and still practices martial arts.
  • Like Father, Like Son: A grandfather-grandson example. Chun Inji and Chun Yeowun cleared six tests of the Academy and became Lords of the Demonic Cult. Both of them can use the Sword Force Of The Heavenly Demon, although Chun Inji had to properly learn it from his grandson.
  • So Proud of You: Towards his grandson Chun Yeowun, after learning of his accomplishments, especially Chun Yeowun's recognition as the second Chun Ma.

Chun Ma/Father Chun Ma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1634906651445.jpg

The Founding Father of the Demonic Cult and the first Heavenly Demon. He is the protagonist of Nanomachine's prequel, "Myst, Might, Mayhem".

  • The Ace: At the age of 18, Chun Ma vanquished all famous masters of his time and was considered to be one of the four greatest warriors of the era. He created the Sword Force of the Heavenly Demon, one of the greatest martial arts of all time, and was later hailed as the World's Best Warrior.
  • Always Someone Better: Chun Ma is confirmed to be the most powerful character among all the author's works. All the protagonists of the author's works did achieve the highest possible realm in martial arts, but Chun Ma is a shade better than them. Other contenders include Yu Mumu, Jin Woonhwi the 16th Blood Demon, and Chun Yeowun, the 2nd Heavenly Demon.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Contrary to Cheon Yeo-woon's speculation, Chun Ma actually learnt the Extreme Art Of The Blade God and combined it with his martial art, however he decided not to complete the combination because the resulting martial art would become too difficult to teach anyone. However, Cheon Yeo-woon finished the martial art and named it as Sword Art Of The Demon God.
  • Ditto Fighter: In the prequel, Chun Ma could easily learn his opponent's martial art just by looking at them. He learnt the Blood Demon's Luminous Star Sword Technique and the Extreme Art Of The Blade God this way.
  • Founder of the Kingdom: Founder of Demonic Cult.
  • Greater-Scope Paragon: Much of Chun Yeo Woon's journey is about his goal to emulate Chun Ma's legendary prowess, and live up to his name he inherited.
  • Hero of Another Story: He is the protagonist of Myst, Might, Mayhem.
  • I Have Many Names: He is usually called Chun Ma, which means the Heavenly Demon. He was also known as the Demon God which was inherited by Chun Yeowun. His real name is actually Larisha. After he arrived on Earth, he was called Jeong by his adoptive grandfather. He adopted the name Mok Gyeongwoon after he killed the original.
  • Identical Grandson: In the novel, it is noted that of all members of the Chun family, Chun Yeowun greatly resembles Chun Ma.
  • Instant Expert: In the prequel, it is revealed that Chun Ma never needed a master. He was so talented that he could learn martial arts just by watching them and completely improve them. The Sword Force of the Heavenly Demon was created after Chun Ma improved the sword techniques of Sima Chak, one of the four Great Evils, and the 16th Blood Demon, Jin Woonhwi note , the World's Best Warrior of the previous generation. In fact, Chun Ma learnt Jin Woonhwi's signature Luminous Star Sword Technique after fighting the Blood Demon's granddaughter.
  • Invincible Hero: Chun Yeowun notes that Chun Ma had never lost a single battle.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Chun Ma literally means Heavenly Demon, so his real name is lost in history. His real name is eventually revealed to be Larisha. His Murim name is Mok Kyungwoon.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Chun Ma is regarded as the god of martial arts, and even after his death, his orders are inviolate.
  • World's Best Warrior: The legendary Master Swordsman even Blade God couldn't beat. Chun Ma achieved the pinnacle of Divine Master without any spirit cores or Nano machine. He became this after improving the martial arts of Jin Woonhwi, the previous World's Best Warrior. Chun Ma could single-handedly slay a spirit beast with little effort, a feat that would usually require the coordination of several martial artists with high cultivation. Even Chun Yeowun had some trouble fighting one spirit beast.
  • World's Strongest Man: Chun Ma achieved the highest level of martial arts and remained unrivalled throughout his lifetime. Only Chun Yeowun has achieved the highest level of martial arts, and even he admits some inferiority towards Chun Ma.
