Dance of the Shimmering Wave
"Since I'm a genuine Knight of Favonius, I fulfill my duties like any other self-respecting individual would. Look, I may be a descendant of a disgraced ruling elite, but I'm not a total degenerate!"

Rarity: 5★
Element: Cryo
Weapon: Claymore
Constellation: Aphros Delos, the Brilliant Seafoam

The Spindrift Knight of the Knights of Favonius and captain of its Reconnaissance Company. A descendant of a disgraced aristocratic clan who once ruled Mondstadt with an iron fist before they were overthrown by the fledgling Knights a thousand years ago, it is an enigma as to why a scion of a family much-despised for their tyranny would join the Knights at all.

Eula's aristocratic upbringing reflects on her ability to gracefully hack away on her foes with little worry over her momentum breaking through enhancing her Normal Attack, Favonius Bladework - Edel, using her Elemental Talents. Her Skill, Icetide Vortex, is a swift slash that grants her a stack of Grimheart (of which she can hold up to two at a time) which boosts her Defense and interruption resistance; in its held form she performs a wide-ranging dash attack, which reduces her foes' Physical and Cryo Resistances, as well as converts Grimhearts into Icewhirl Brands that deal additional Cryo damage. Her Burst, Glacial Illumination, is a wild swing that summons a phantasmal Lightfall Sword which protects her from interruption and which she can power up through her Normal Attack and Talents before it detonates either after its duration expires or she is switched out.note

    A-H
  • Actually Pretty Funny: She couldn't help but laugh at Venti's songs making fun of the Lawrence Clan, though she also (ineffectively) threatens to punish him for this.
  • All the Other Reindeer: Eula had this bad thanks to being part of a family of aristocrats in a city that had long since overthrown them. She couldn't even go out to buy groceries, and Amber was her only friend. Even in the present, others who aren't aware of how reliable she is are afraid of her.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Her light blue hair, coupled with the blue parts of her clothes (such as her gloves, sleeves, cape, tights, and tie) and her crystal-shaped bluish-white claymore pretty much give away her status as a Cryo Vision holder as well as a noblewoman.
  • Big Sister Instinct: In the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event, she takes a quick liking to Joel, a young boy who is looking for his father Joserf in Dragonspine, who refers to her as "Aunty Eula" due to his unfamiliarity with her family's ill reputation, which leads to him treating her a lot kinder than most others. It's gotten to point that when she thinks she saw Albedo leading Joel to a monster-infested area and shoves him away when she approaches, she's furious and confronts the real Albedo for the impostor's actions.
    • She also demonstrates a bit of this attitude towards Collei during the "Secret Summer Paradise" event. She's similarly patient with Collei, gives her some advice over time, and is generally as kind and nice as she was to Joel.
  • Birds of a Feather: She gets along with Diona who, like her, seeks revenge against a local institution she ostensibly works for (the wine industry, in Diona's case). They also both have Cryo Visions and tsundere tendencies.
  • Broken Ace: Eula is stated to be equal to Jean in combat according to Varka, and is also as talented as the latter with many accomplishments in the battlefield. But whereas Jean is beloved by the people, the same couldn't be said of her on account of her ancestors' crimes.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Her large breasts causes Aether to get Distracted by the Sexy when she's telling him about her backstory in her Character Teaser, causing her to chastise him and tell him My Eyes Are Up Here.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Eula loves to pretend she's a villain out for vengeance on the Knights of Favonius, even though she is anything but.
(About Hello) "Huh? What's that...? Yes, Lawrence, the evil aristocrats of historical infamy. Oh, we're still very much evil. Just look at me, I'm infiltrating the inner ranks of the Knights of Favonius, all as part of a diabolical plan to exact our revenge and reclaim our former glory!"
  • Category Traitor: The Lawrence Clan have long regarded the Knights of Favonius as their archnemeses. Joining the Knights means that she's no more welcome among her own Clan than in the rest of Mondstadt.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Vengeance will be mine!" or some derivative thereof. Usually accompanied by "Mark my words" at the start. She says it multiple times throughout her story quest and it's noted that she's always claiming vengeance, not that she actually means it (in the traditional sense, at least). Notably, during the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorm" event not once did Eula utter it, which can be attributed to her being in a good mood while being around people she trusts and/or who don't really care or know about her lineage.
  • Childhood Friends: With Amber.
    • Eula's Character Stories explain that Amber had known her long before she joined the Knights, and even vouched for her when she joined; conversely, Amber is one of the few people she genuinely trusts.
    • Eula's Story Quest begins with Amber suggesting to the Traveler to ask her for help infiltrating the Lawrence Clan due to reports of their collusion with the Fatui. Midway through, Amber, together with Good Hunter receptionist Sara, helped explain to the Traveler that Eula is a good person who is bad at expressing herself because she's never been able to speak normally to anyone.
    • In the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event, it's shown that Eula is close enough to Amber to let her watch her back as she takes a bath.
  • Cool Big Sis: While "Windblume's Breath" reveals them to be friends through Amber, "Secret Summer Paradise" displays Eula’s relationship with Collei as to being akin to that of a stern but affectionate older sister.
    • An optional conversation has her realize that Collei wants to ride the Choo-Choo Cart and agrees to take her provided there's nothing troublesome that could fall out of her pockets, in emulation of Kaeya checking Klee's backpack for Jumpty Dumpties.
    • The second Story Quest of the event has Eula takes steps to help Collei overcome her shyness and dislike of attention. She offers to do this by teaching her how to dance, reasoning that she’ll be so focused on her moves that she would pay no heed to the people watching.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: Eula's fourth-ascension passive, Wellspring of War-Lust, allows her Burst to reset the cooldown of her Skill, as well as automatically bestows her one Grimheart. Her second Constellation upgrade, Lady of Seafoam, also reduces that of the held form of her Skill from ten seconds to four, rendering it identical to its base form.
  • Critical Hit Class: Her Ascension stat is Critical Damage (9.6–38.4%), which lends itself well to her high damage potential.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: The held form of her Skill consumes Grimhearts to inflict a 16–25% penalty to enemies' Physical and Cryo Resistances for seven seconds, in addition to creating Icewhirl Brands that deal additional Cryo damage.
  • Damage Reduction: The base form of her Skill generates Grimhearts, of which she can hold up to two at a time, which increases her Defense by 30% apiece (for a total of 60%) as well as bestows heightened interruption resistance, lasting either for eighteen seconds or until she consumes them with the held form of her Skill to generate Icebrand Whirls (see "Death from Above" below).
  • Dance Battler: Eula's fighting style is based on the "Dance of Sacrifice" once practiced by the Lawrence Clan to demonstrate their nobility. In the present it's no longer a requirement with the Clan, having since been taken up by all Mondstadters. The dance was Eula's favorite pastime when she was younger, so she incorporated it into her swordplay, and was so good at it that it leaves Amber mesmerized when she sees it. Gameplay-wise, she performs a somersault slash for the third and fifth (and final) hits of her Normal Attack combo and poses at the end of her fourth in the manner shown in her official art, and performs a graceful spin for her Elemental Talents.note
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She has been ostracized for most of her life and is even stated in her profile that most Mondstadters refuse to sell her anything because she's a Lawrence, perhaps the most hated clan in Mondstadt, and despite her wealth she had to hunt for her own food and cook it under a campfire just to eat. Is it any wonder she is the way she is?
  • Deadpan Snarker: She hardly ever breaks her stiff upper-class tone, which only makes her frequent bouts of sarcasm and general passive-aggressiveness that much drier and blunter.
(Opening a treasure chest) "Heh, at least good luck doesn't discriminate by clan!"
  • Death from Above:
    • The held form of her Skill converts any Grimheart on stock into Icewhirl Brands that drop down on enemies and deal extra Cryo damage.note
    • Her Burst summons a Lightfall Sword which will drop down on her foes either once its timer runs out or Eula is switched out. Her first-ascension passive, Roiling Rime, allows the held form of her Skill to generate a "shattered" form with half the potency of its "whole" counterpart should it consume two Grimhearts.
  • Defector from Decadence: Eula left her family behind to serve Mondstadt as a Knight of Favonius, and is prepared to end the "Lawrence" name herself if they continue to make trouble.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: One that's still in the process of defrosting. However, she becomes attached a bit to the Traveler and, despite her mixed messages, is far nicer than it would be apparent.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Her way of demonstrating noble etiquette to the Traveler, as she chose to go about it by walking up to random people without explaining what's going on to practice on despite knowing how badly that would turn out. Already barely tolerated by the cityfolk at this point even with her normal behavior, attempting the noble manner of speech angers everyone she tries it on. And the fact that she's obviously bad at it only serves to make things worse, as the people think she's playing the part of the noble when they find it hurtful. After the last man she speaks with calls her out for this inappropriate behavior, she acknowledges that he's right.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Though Eula is capable of some of the most powerful single-hit attacks in the game, pulling this off isn't easy since it requires precise combos to power up the Lightfall Sword, in addition to using Superconduct and other effects to reduce Physical Resistance since most tough enemies have a lot of it. There's also the matter of making sure the Sword detonates at the right time, otherwise the damage would be wasted due to an enemy dodging or blocking the explosion. Provided the stars align in your favor, Eula is able to wipe out huge chunks of the enemy's health, if not obliterate them entirely.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: She lays into her uncle Schubert for trying to take over Mondstadt with the help of the Fatui, and declares that the form of glory the Lawrence Clan so desperately desires can never return, and never should.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Played for Laughs. She declares she'll exact her "vengeance" on Sara for leaving a free salad for their meal. She ends up paying her back... by literally paying for the dish, leaving the Mora on the table so Sara can't just decline it.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Though Eula is usually quite mellow and cavalier about her pariah status, the "Of Drink A-Dreaming" event shows a lonelier, more vulnerable side. She gets absolutely wasted after yet another reminder of how inescapable her tainted family legacy is, admitting that even with this level of intoxication, she still can't delude herself into believing that things will get any better. Her promotional teaser video implies she has turned to wine more than once.
  • Elemental Hair Colors: Her light blue hair pairs perfectly with her Cryo Vision.
  • Elemental Personalities: Played with. While not emotionless and stoic, Eula is (no pun intended) a bit of an ice queen and possesses a Cryo Vision.
  • Evolving Weapon: The Lightfall Sword first appears as dagger-sized. As it gains more stacks, it will slowly grow longer into a longsword proportional to its power once it detonates.
  • Exposed to the Elements: Exaggerated. Not only is Eula unbothered by the cold of Dragonspine, but she also enjoys taking a bath in a frozen lake! Not that this is reflected in-game, of course.
  • Faster Than They Look: Not a Mighty Glacier as one might expect, but Eula is the fastest-swinging claymore unit at the time of her introduction, comparable to sword units. Her signature weapon further increases her attack speed.
  • Foil: Eula has two foils in Mondstadt, with whom she shares a Fire/Ice Duo dynamic, her being the Ice to both:
    • Diluc: Both are claymore wielders with noble backgrounds and a negative family history with the Knights of Favonius. By contrast, Diluc is an ex-Knight who resigned in protest after an inspector (actually a traitor aligned with the Fatui) tried to cover up the circumstances of his father's death in a Fatui-orchestrated attack, while Eula hails from a tyrannical aristocratic clan overthrown a millennium ago by the then-fledgling Knights. Personality-wise, Diluc maintains a polite behavior even while openly disparaging the Knights, while Eula adopts an off-putting, aggressive tone that makes people question her otherwise genuine loyalty to the Knights.
    • Amber: Both are childhood friends who serve reconnaissance roles within the Knights. Combat-wise, however, Amber specializes in ranged combat, while Eula prefers to be up close; personality-wise, Amber is warm and lively, while Eula is cold and standoffish; and within the Knights' hierarchy, Amber operates alone as an Outrider, while Eula leads a company.
  • Form-Fitting Wardrobe: Her outfit clings nicely to her curves.
  • Freudian Excuse: Her ice-cold, standoffish personality has been forged amidst the background of centuries-old tensions between the people of Mondstadt and her family of stuck-up ex-nobles who once ruled the nation with an iron fist. On the one hand, the former made sure she never forgot her ancestors' crimes; on the other hand, the latter have more or less disowned her after she joined the same organization that overthrew them long ago.
  • Friend to All Children:
    • Downplayed. Players don't see her interact with children often, much less their reaction to her, considering her family's infamy. However, if her interactions with Joel in the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event is anything to go by, she tends to treat them a bit gentler than she does most people, with her cutting back on her usual vitriolic dialogue when he does something she'd perceive as a "slight" from anyone else.
    • Despite their lack of voice lines about each other, the "Secret Summer Paradise" event reveals that Klee likes Eula, mentioning a time she made her a Moon Pie. Eula is quick to change the subject, flustered by the praise.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Her relationship with Amber and Collei suffers from this in regards to gameplay.
    • On the surface, Eula and Amber seem like they'd match well, with their respective elements making it seem like they'd be good for teams prioritizing Melt reaction. However, Eula's damage is more reliant on Physical damage over causing reactions; her Cryo application is too inconsistent to easily trigger Melt, with the only reaction she really benefits from being Superconduct due to it decreasing an enemy's Physical Resistance. In the same vein, this also ends up applying to her friendship with Yanfei.
    • Eula perhaps has even worse synergy with Collei; not only does Cryo have no Elemental Reaction with Dendro, but there are no Dendro-related reactions that affect an enemy's Physical Resistance, giving players less reason to put Eula and Collei on the same team. Players even got to see this lack of synergy during the "Secret Summer Paradise" event, as there's a point where they're the only members of a Trial team together.
  • Gathering Steam: After swinging at her foes, her Burst summons a Lightfall Sword, whose potency can be stacked (to a maximum of thirty) with her Normal Attack and Elemental Talents, increasing its potency once it explodes either after seven seconds or once Eula is switched out.note  Her sixth Constellation upgrade, Noble Obligation, automatically grants the Sword five stacks, as well as gives all her (multiplayer) allies' attacks a 50% chance to produce the stacks.
  • Good Is Not Nice: She's a Knight who is firmly devoted to protecting Mondstadt, but she also happens to be a very prickly woman who likes swearing vengeance on people) even though she doesn't mean anything by them).
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Downplayed—her fellow Knights are very fond of her, and some Mondstadters in the know, such as Diluc and Sara, trust Jean's judgment that Eula means well. Everyone else, however, distrusts her for her family lineage, with some protesting her application years ago. Likewise, her own kin also hates her for joining the Knights, which deposed them centuries ago. Such is Eula's reputation that the Traveler and Paimon wonder as to how she goes about life so peacefully.
    I-P
  • An Ice Person: Played with; she does utilize a Cryo Vision, but notably, her biggest source of damage comes from Physical damage.
  • Immune to Flinching: Both Grimhearts and the Lightfall Sword reduce her risk of being interrupted.
  • Ineffectual Death Threats: This is how Eula gets people to listen to her. She never carries them out, although she claims she will one day, with the people who knew her better understanding that she is too kind to go through with that.
  • Insistent Terminology: She declares that she will take "vengeance" on almost anything anyone does to or for her, for good or ill. Her idea of what constitutes "vengeance" is extremely wide, however, and includes avenging the Traveler stealing her kill by saving them in a Big Damn Heroes moment and avenging Sara giving her a free meal by leaving money for it on the table anyway.
  • Internal Homage: Like many of the other Mondstadt characters, her unique Party Setup animation is a reference to her portrait, though unlike the others, she does the portrait pose backwards to show off her Claymore before settling into a different pose.
  • In Vino Veritas: The "Of Drink A-Dreaming" event shows her plastered after a night at Cat's Tail, where she's less uptight in tone and more forthcoming with her insecurities. The title of the particular sub-quest is even "Solid Ice, Soluble in Wine."
  • Irony: The claymore she wields during her Story Quest, the Song of Broken Pines, is described in flavor text as the embodiment of war songs Mondstadter rebels throughout history used when marching against either Decarabian or the Lawrence Clan, her own lineage. Gameplay-wise, it is considered to be tailor-made for Eula.
  • Jerk Justifications: Given that Eula's own family more or less disowned her for joining the organization that brought them down a millennium ago, yet most Mondstadters give her the cold shoulder despite her service, it's no surprise as to why Eula would be so grumpy and cold to begin with, even if it was a front she puts on.
(More About Eula: II) "People tell me that if I just spoke more softly, or was more polite, or acted more deferentially, others may find it easier to forgive me, but the only reason they think that way is because they've never been branded a pariah before. There is no easy path to redemption when you're a social pariah. [...]"
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Eula has quite the sharp tongue, and she is cold and aloof, but it's very obviously a coping mechanism for general distrust towards her due to her clan's ill repute. She loves throwing death threats left, right, and center, and even claims to be working with the Knights in order to take them down someday to avenge her clan. That said, the few people who get to know her very well know that she really doesn't mean it, and is far kinder beneath that frosty mask. Jean even said that she's just misunderstood.
Namecard Description: "A cold heart is but a shell to protect oneself."
  • Jiggle Physics: Eula's breasts are prone to bouncing during her animations, despite her Form-Fitting Wardrobe.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: Like Jean, Eula does her best to protect the people of Mondstadt. Unlike Jean, however, she is not very nice about it, and likewise so do the general populace, due to her tainted ancestry.
  • Lady of War: Eula's animations and mannerisms convey grace, power, and authority.
  • Lightning Bruiser: What distinguishes Eula from her fellow Claymore units is that, in addition to boasting optimal Defense and enormous Attack stats, she is also innately swift and can stock up Grimhearts to increase her Defense and flinching resistance, as well as consume them for greater damage output. Better still, the base form of her Skill only has a four-second-long cooldown, which is just long enough to get her standard combo off, and her second Constellation upgrade brings down the cooldown of its held form to match the base form, allowing Eula to be even more relentless. In general, her Constellation upgrades lean heavily into her Burst damage as well, which greatly amplifies her damage-dealing potential even more.
  • Luminescent Blush: While hard to see, she sports a blush for a brief moment while posing after the fourth hit of her Normal Attack combo.
  • Ma'am Shock: Surprisingly averted. When Joel calls her "Aunty Eula," Paimon was worried that she might get angry and perform her usual routine (i.e., exact vengeance) but to Paimon's surprise, she doesn't react negatively to it.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • "Eula" is the short form of the ancient Greek name "Eulalia" (Εὐλαλία), meaning meaning "sweetly-speaking" or "well-spoken." Doubles as Ironic Name, because while Eula is sarcastic and harsh in tone, she is of noble lineage (and her Story Quest even involves noble etiquette lessons she gives to help the Traveler deal with Schubert) and thus "well-spoken" is well-suited for her.
    • "Edel," the suffix of her Normal Attack's name, means "noble" in German, again alluding to her social status. The other localizations are more forthright with the association, with the German one using Adelshaus ("noble house").
  • Mirror Character:
    • With Rosaria. Both are Cryo Vision holders who work hard to protect Mondstadt despite their jaded outlook on life due to a harsh adolescence.
    • With Collei. They are both young women who are/were not well liked by anyone due to conditions beyond their control (descent from a tyrannical clan and a contagious disease/curse, respectively), whose Only Friend is Amber, in addition to having an element that can react with Pyro (Cryo and Dendro).
  • Money Multiplier: Played with. Her utility passive, Aristocratic Inspection, gives her a 10% chance to craft Character Talent materials twice.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Eula wears leotard-like clothes that nicely cling onto her body, showing off her large breasts and curves, in addition to a fair amount of skin exposed on her back, her top having a translucent segment running down to her navel (and showing she doesn't wear a bra), and her long legs clad and accentuated in thigh-high boots that showcase absolute territory. She is also an excellent dancer capable of graceful and fluid movement both on and off the battlefield.
  • My Eyes Are Up Here: Eula's introductory trailer is filled with copious Male Gaze while she's talking about her backstory, followed by chiding Aether that it's proper etiquette to look a noblewoman in the eyes when she's talking.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Eula is apathetic towards her clan's attempts to regain the prestige they lost a millennium ago. All she's personally known is how difficult being a Lawrence has made her life, as beyond the cold suspicion most Mondstadters hold her with, the posturing and rampant traditionalism her family tried to ingrain into her did little but make her childhood more miserable. She's spent her life away from them trying to shake off that legacy.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Relatively subtle and usually partly covered by her tie, but her top has a translucent segment running down the center. It also shows she doesn't wear a bra.
  • Navel Outline: An interesting example. The mesh segment of her uniform has a gold-colored metallic decoration over where her navel would be.
  • Non-Elemental: Although Eula is nominally a Cryo Vision holder, she actually excels in dealing Physical damage. Her Skill, relatively her most Cryo-aligned attack, has a rather mediocre damage output compared to her Normal Attack and her Burst, which can be the biggest single-hit damage in the game.
  • No Social Skills: Justified, as her family is so despised she can't say anything without making someone mad, so she's given up on watching her tongue, which only causes her to make way more trouble than is necessary. Anyone else trying to demonstrate aristocratic etiquette to the Traveler would probably have decided on a better target group than random people who have no idea what's going on and would have every reason to be offended by this—which is what Eula expected them to do, to show her situation to them. It's even stated that greenhorn Knights find it hard to understand her, with one recalling how Eula's idea of a "tea break" when marching straight to Jean's office looking like she wanted to kill somebody actually means "sparring."
  • Odd Friendship: With Amber. Everything about them contrasts, from their color schemes and personalities to their weapons and Visions, and yet Amber is still Eula's first and closest friend. That said, Amber's Liue-born grandfather trained Eula (hence their shared expertise in reconnaissance), and her family hasn't been in Mondstadt long enough to absorb its culturally-ingrained animosity towards the Lawrence Clan.
  • Odd Name Out: Her Constellation name is Greek, unlike the others which are in Latin.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Eula rarely has a smile on her face and is almost always frowning. This doesn't help the hatred from the common folk of Mondstadt.
  • Pet the Dog: Though she gets exasperated at just how horrible Bennett's luck seems to be, she didn't hold it against him, even after several close calls with avalanches in Dragonspine. She looks out for his physical and mental wellbeing, and not once does she consider abandoning him. When he and Albedo get caught in yet another avalanche, she immediately leads Amber and the Traveler in rescuing them once the dust settles.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Again, not that she can be blamed due to her family's ill repute, but people had justifiably stated that had she just spoken more softly and acted more politely and respectfully, others may find it a lot easier to be around her. Given Eula's vorpal tongue and tendency to swear vengeance (even if she doesn't really mean it), she easily rubs people the wrong way.
  • Power Glows: Whenever Eula has Grimhearts on stock, her half-cape will glow silvery white, and whenever they are consumed by the held form of her Skill, her claymore will glow with a golden light and the glacial seal of the Lawrence Clan will manifest over the crossguard.
    Q-Z
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The cold and icy Blue to Amber's passionate and fiery Red. Literally too, given their color schemes and Visions.
  • Remember the New Guy?: At the start of Klee's Story Quest, patrons at Angel's Share discussed who is the strongest Mondstadter, ranging between her, Jean, and the "Darknight Hero" (Diluc, unbeknownst to them). Some time later, Eula was introduced, who is considered Jean's equal in terms of strength but was left out of consideration, probably because she hails from a clan too controversial to discuss in the open.
  • The Rival: She sees herself as this to Jean, with whom she often spars according to her Character Stories. One of her quotes while ascending has her declare that with her getting this much power, even Jean herself would be no match for her.
  • Rule of Symbolism: Her Constellation depicts a crown being tossed by the waves, both as a nod to her descent from a fallen aristocratic clan and her Company's association with Mondstadt's coastal areas.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: With the exception of a lone strap, her outfit exposes much of her bare back behind her half-cape.
  • Shadow Archetype: To Ayaka. Both are scions to noble families, proficient with the sword, hold Cryo Visions, are talented dancers, and are close friends with Pyro Vision holders (respectively, Amber and Thoma). However, Eula is near-universally despised due to her clan's historic crimes and hides her emotional pain beneath a cold, snarky façade, and has been disowned by her own family; by contrast, Ayaka is adored by everyone and is constantly polite, with her only issues centering on her yearning for life's simple pleasures, and at least has her older brother Ayato looking out for her. This makes Eula what Ayaka would have become without emotional support.
  • Signature Move: Standing with her legs crossed and arms up holding her claymore behind her back. It's the pose she takes in most of her official artwork and she also briefly holds this pose at the end of the fourth hit of her Normal Attack combo.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Her lineage has made her a pariah in Mondstadt despite being a dutiful member of its law enforcement body.
  • Situational Damage Attack: Her fourth Constellation upgrade, The Obstinacy of One's Inferiors, increases her damage output by 25% against enemies with less than half their HP.
  • Skinny Dipping: One of her hobbies is bathing in cold lakes or other such bodies of water, including, implicitly, in Dragonspine.
  • Sophisticated as Hell: Her attempts to force people to respect her can be funny at times.
(More About Eula: II) "[...] I'm more inclined to stop tiptoeing around everyone all the time and just get out there and make them respect me the old-fashioned way! As in, we square off and if they win, I humbly accept my punishment, but if they lose, they must acquiesce to my demands... Such as... Well, I mean, if I want to buy a loaf of bread, take my darn money, for crying out loud!"
  • Sore Loser: She once sparred with Varka; it ended in a tie because Eula could easily tell he was holding back on her. She took it personally as a sign of indignity, to the point that she claims she will never let this one go.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Eula's frosty demeanor and vorpal tongue is an obvious coping mechanism for her inner anguish over the persecution she endured.
  • Stance System: Her Skill is a straightforward strike with varying effects depending on how it is used: its base form generates one stack of Grimheart (to a maximum of two) that increases her Defense and interruption resistance, which are then consumed through its held form to summon Icewhirl Brands that deal additional damage.note
  • Status Buff: Her first Constellation upgrade, Tidal Illusion, allows the held form of her Skill to bestow a 30% Physical Damage buff for six seconds per Grimheart consumed (hence a maximum of 60%), with the duration extensible up to eighteen seconds, which can be easily achieved with her second Constellation upgrade (see "Cooldown Manipulation" above) and precise timing of her Skill.
  • The Starscream: Subverted. She wants to crush the Knights for the sake of vengeance... or so she claims. Close acquaintances know that she's really not that serious about it.
  • Stop Being Stereotypical: Complains about how outdated and unpleasant noble traditions are, and is disgusted by the fact that her family still clings to the very values that the rest of Mondstadt despises them for, having apparently never learned their lesson. She has resolved to bring down her own clan if they step out of line again in her lifetime.
  • Supreme Chef: Even the moon-shaped pies Eula makes as field rations are incredible. There's a dark side to this as cooking was one of many skills that were relentlessly drilled into her by her family.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil:
    • Averted in relation to the people of Mondstadt—however poorly they treat her, Eula soldiers on with her vow of protecting them, never responding to their vitriol beyond barbed comments.
    • Downplayed regarding her personality. Her Character Stories mention that people often suggested that she try toning down her rhetoric to lessen the vitriol towards her. Eula deems such remarks hypocritical coming from non-pariahs, claiming Mondstadters will hate her regardless, with the implication that she did try in the past, so she might as well fire back.
  • Thermal Dissident: Eula loves to bathe in the icy ponds of Dragonspine; rather fitting, seeing how she has a Cryo vision.note  She is the one person in Mondstadt who prefers her drinks iced and not at room temperature. Amber says that on a hot day she can stay cool just by standing next to Eula.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Wears this expression when the Traveler and Paimon ask her to demonstrate aristocratic etiquette, knowing how badly it's going to turn out. She does try, but not only does it make people angrier at her than usual, she's obviously out of practice and is struggling to remember the particulars.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Seems to love drinking anything cold, and she said it's one of her favorite hobbies. Much like everything else, this marks her as an outlier in a nation where drinks are taken at room temperature.
  • Tsundere: A downplayed Harsh variant.
    • Eula is frosty, cold, and haughty, but is far nicer than she shows in public. Though she constantly talks of vengeance for perceived slights, she never seems to carry this out, and when she does, it's usually far nicer than her words suggest, such as sneakily leaving payment for a free salad after acting angry upon receiving it. Unfortunately, most cityfolk take her rudeness at face value (not helped by her family's ill repute).
    • Platonic example with her cousin Lessig. The "Secret Summer Paradise" event has her track him down to Sumeru on the suspicion that he is mustering support to restore their clan's power. While she claims that it is her duty as a Knight and a Lawrence to prevent a renewal of hostilities between both sides, it's clear to everyone that she is more concerned for him than she'd like to admit, which Collei and Paimon lampshade when they find Lessig injured and the two get into an argument.
  • Tsurime Eyes: She sports sharp-looking eyes which complement her cold personality.
  • Upgrade Artifact: A variant—her third and fifth Constellation upgrades, Lawrence Pedigree and Chivalric Quality, add three levels to, respectively, her Burst and Skill.
  • Vapor Wear: She has a see-through opening on the sides of her outfit and matching her transparent Navel-Deep Neckline, which implies that she doesn't have conventional underwear.
  • Villainous Lineage: The Lawrence Clan used to be slave owners and tyrants, sins the people of Mondstadt have not forgotten even centuries after their fall from grace.
  • Weapon Specialization
    • For her character teaser trailer, Eula is shown wielding the Royal Greatsword, whose Ascension substat is Attack (6–27.6%), and whose "Focus" passive increases its wielder's Critical Rate by 8–16% whenever they hit enemies, which can stack up to five times (hence a maximum of 40–80%) and is reset whenever they land a critical hit, which further improves her damage-dealing potency.
    • Promotional material depicts Eula wielding the Song of Broken Pines (5★), whose Wish banner runs concurrent with hers. It's generally considered to be tailor-made for her, with its substat of Physical Damage Bonus (4.5–20.7%) further amplifying her already impressive damage output, in addition to the "Rebel's Banner Hymn" passive, which grants its wielder a 16–32% Attack boost, in addition to the ability to gather Sigils of Whispers with combo or charged Normal Attacks, which will be immediately consumed once four are collected to trigger "Millennial Movement: Banner-Hymn" for twelve seconds, which gives the party a further 20–40% boost to Attack and 12–24% to attacking speed at the cost of being unable to stack Sigils for twenty seconds, which makes her even faster than she already is.
  • White Sheep: Majority of the Lawrence Clan are stuck-up, arrogant, unpleasant aristocrats who even after a thousand years wholeheartedly believe that they are entitled to rule over Mondstadt. Eula is the only known scion to turn their back on such beliefs.
  • Worthy Opponent: Apparently, she once sparred with Varka, and it ended in a tie, though she could easily tell that he was holding back, which she took very personally. There's a high possibility that she also sees Jean as this, as they frequently spar in their free time as well.
  • Your Answer to Everything: She claims to swear vengeance against anyone over the most trivial of slights, but she never acts on it at worst. At best, her "vengeance" consists of doing genuinely nice and helpful things, like paying Sara back for giving her a salad on the house, or getting back at the Traveler taking out Fatui she was stalking by sneaking into their investigation onto her uncle by providing backup just so they can be "even."
