Fairy Tail and Allies

The strongest magical guild of Fiore a kingdom of Earthland, Team RWBY was transported to their guildhall after opening a magical book. Later on members of Fairy Tail's Strongest Team begin to show up in Remnant following a ferocious battle with the White Witch.
    In General
  • Archenemy: With most of Ozpin's Circle having either been killed or gone over to Salem they are the main opposition to Salem's Circle. How bitter this rivalry goes varies from member to member.
  • Badass Decay: They are considerably weaker than they were on Earthland. Some of their strongest members like Laxus and Mirajane are not with them on Remnant and what new wizards that join suffer from the Etharnano levels of Remnant not being as high as they were on Earthland and as such have small origins.
  • Black-and-White Insanity: Downplayed Trope. The group has some difficulty with accepting the idea of Gray-and-Gray Morality, but this is primarily for two reasons: most of the opponents that Fairy Tail has faced are full villains like Acnologia and Mard Geer, and Salem's actions have very directly hurt them. It's hard to keep an opponent's morality in mind when they keep killing your family members or ruining your life.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: Following the battle in the Grimmlands, Fairy Tail has divided into three.
    • Most of the guild has regrouped in Vale and are preparing for Salem's attack.
    • Wendy, Oscar, and Happy have infiltrated Salem's Faction hoping to find a way to get Natsu, Irene, and Ozpin new bodies and damage Salem's group.
    • Yang, following Carla's betrayal and Weiss killing Summer, has defected to Salem and is set to become a Gate.
  • Broken Pedestal: Salem is this to them.
    • In turn, they are this to Yang.
  • Didn't Think This Through: During the Grimmlands Arc, Weiss, Erza, Carla, and Gray do not think of the full implications of their actions until it is too late and they all blow up in their faces.
  • Hypocrite: Many of their members raise objections to the idea of working with Salem and her group due to them hurting innocent people. However they seem to have no objections working with Raven and Ozpin. This is particularly bad with Ozpin, who has made it clear that his actions have hurt as many innocent people as Salem and who also clearly lacks a plan to deal with the bigger issues Remnant is facing. With Raven, it's downplayed a bit, since while Raven and her tribe for years murdered innocents simply so that they could rob them, in Raven's case she genuinely regrets her actions and wants to try and find redemption even if it kills her. Erza openly accepts this hypocrisy, knowing intellectually she should be as angry at them as she is at Salem, but also emotionally knowing that she simply doesn't know any of the people Ozpin has hurt and Raven saved her and Pyrrha at one point... whereas Salem and her forces have hurt Fairy Tail much more directly.
  • Know Whento Fold Em: For the most part Fairy Tail members know their limits and when to retreat. They rather wisely try to avoid fighting End and Salem when possible in the Grimmlands Arc and when they bring out their Super Mode Fairy Tail makes a run for it.
  • Pragmatic Hero: With Salem and her followers severely outclassing them they are growing more and more like this using tactics and strategies they never would have considered using in Earthland.
  • True Companions: Members of Fairy Tail regard each other as family. This is becoming a Deconstructed Trope, however, since under the weight of their conflict with Salem and having to deal with being trapped on Remnant, the circle of loyalty is beginning to break. Yang is the first to turn against the group.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Compared to Salem's Gates they are greatly outmatched in raw power. They make up for it however with skill at using their power as well as several of them being far more experienced in magical battles than most of the Gates.
    Ruby Rose
The leader of Team RWBY. A cheerful optimistic girl who is both the heart and head of her team. She uses both Requip and Spirit Slayer magic.

  • Archenemy: After the Grimmlands Arc, she has become this to Salem herself, being the member of Fairy Tail with the most personal connection to the Queen.
  • Big Good: Alongside Erza. While Erza has become the new guildmaster, Ruby has become Fairy Tail's field leader.
  • Break the Cutie: The death of Summer (which she blames herself for), seeing her team collapse, and becoming convinced that the world will be doomed regardless of which of the factions win devastates Ruby and she ends up a broken shell of herself for a while, going so far as to attempt to use the book to Ret-Gone Remnant as a whole by warning past Fairy Tail about the White Witch.
  • Foil: Serves as this to Salem. They are leaders of their respective groups, both are very determined individuals. Both accepted they will have to do things they dislike to win, and both have reached their Despair Event Horizon and were saved by members of Fairy Tail. The difference is that Ruby still has faith in people while Salem's has been battered away by eons of living with humans.
  • The Heart: Serves as this to both Team RWBY and the New Fairy Tail, managing to get both Weiss and Erza back on their feet after the events in the Grimmlands.
  • The Strategist: Most of Fairy Tail's strategies and battle plans come from Ruby and they have been quite successful so far.
    Weiss Schnee
The heiress to the Schnee Dust Company who entered Beacon in an attempt to get out of her father's thumb. Weiss uses Ice God Slayer Magic.

  • Archenemy: Has become this to Yang and Cinder following her killing Summer, the former of whom views her as an Evil Former Friend.
  • Broken Bird: While she tries to hide it with anger, at her heart after the Atlas Arc, Weiss is a broken shell of her former self. It's only after her experiences in the Grimmlands and the realization of what isolating herself has cost her that she starts the slow process of healing.
  • Easily Forgiven: While Ruby makes it clear she messed up and let her down, she still forgives Weiss pretty easily for killing Summer despite everything that it caused including Ruby's own Despair Event Horizon.
  • Eye Scream: After killing Summer right in front of her, Yang retaliates by slashing off Weiss's eye with her demonic claw.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Weiss gets framed by Watts and Summer for trying to kill her brother Whitley and later flees Atlas as a fugitive with Gray. Killing Summer, the beloved leader of Atlas, is unlikely to help.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: She developed a crush on Gray while in Earthland, though it didn't go anywhere since Weiss didn't want to get in the way of him and Juvia. Later becomes averted when Gray appears on Remnant. With Juvia apparently long dead and both of them seeking comfort from their hardships, she starts a relationship.
  • It's All About Me: While Weiss has perfectly valid reasons for hating Summer, she ignores the fact that the whole world is at stake and that is more important than her revenge. What's more, she also ignores or chooses not to think about how killing Summer would affect both Ruby and Yang. She realizes this after the battle in the Grimmlands and hates herself for it.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She only truly realizes what her Revenge Before Reason mindset has cost her when Yang attacks her, tears out her eye, and is ready to beat Blake out of the way to finish the job. Only then does she truly realize that for all that she was focused on her losses in Atlas, she didn't realize what she still had left to lose.
  • Second Love: She becomes Gray's after the two reunite and eventually escape Atlas, partially thanks to the hardships they both suffered during said arc and Gray trying to move on from Juvia's apparent death. It's thus a bit awkward when Juvia herself shows up, though the water wizard is completely understanding of it and doesn't try to break them up.
  • Secretly Selfish: Weiss lies to herself that she is attacking Summer in the Grimmlands for Fairy Tail and later Ruby, but really it's about her own revenge. She accepts this after leaving the Grimmlands.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: After her experience in Atlas, Weiss isolates herself from the other Fairy Tail members and angrily snaps at any of them who suggest they may have to work with Salem to save the world, no matter how good the reasons they give and on the whole behaves very self righteously. She loses this attitude along with her eye after Yang tries to kill her and she realizes just how badly she screwed up.
  • Vengeance Feels Empty: A unique take on this. Weiss actually does feel some satisfaction at killing Summer. However, it's completely overshadowed by the guilt at all the pain she feels towards causing Yang and Ruby so much suffering and what's more, she considers herself a monster for feeling any satisfaction considering what it caused.
    Blake Belladonna
A former member of the White Fang Terrorist/Resistance organization. Blake defected after becoming disturbed by the direction the organization was going and decided to enroll in Beacon as a huntress. She uses Take-Over:Spirit Soul Magic.

  • Hold the Line: Desperately tries keep an enraged Yang from killing Weiss during the Grimmlands Arc. While she does hold her off for a time, she is ultimately no match and needs Juvia's help to escape.
  • Irony: When Team RWBY was first formed Blake was closest to Yang and had the most hostile relationship with Weiss yet she ends up fighting Yang to protect Weiss.
  • It Can Think: Blake discovers through her Take-Over Magic that Grimm are actually Umbral Spirits and the reason that they come off as mindless killing machines is due to them being consumed by Seram's Madness upon entering Remnant.
  • Powers via Possession: Blake's specific Magic is Take-Over: Spirit Soul, which allows her to absorb and use the powers of spirits. When she first unlocked it, she nearly absorbed Loke/Leo, but she learned that she could just siphon off energy to temporarily use their powers. Later, she discovers that Grimm are actually corrupted spirits and her magic works just as well on them. She can do the partial transformation just fine (and it even makes other Grimm think she's one of them and not attack her), but a Full-Body Takeover causes her to lose her mind to the negativity and become a feral beast.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Her reaction when she realizes that rather than Erza or Mirajane, she got Lucy as backup against Tyrian.
  • A Threesome Is Hot: She outright tells Weiss that she ships her, Gray, and Juvia all together.
    Yang Xiao Long
The older half-sister of Ruby. Yang is the biological daughter of Raven Branwen and the adopted one of Summer Rose. A friendly passionate girl Yang uses Fire Devil Slayer Magic in battle.

  • Berserk Button: Raven. After she abandoned her to End her just showing up enrages Yang and one point she actually threatens to kill her and later attempts it.
  • Break the Cutie: Following the battle in the Grimmlands there is little to no trace of the friendly, cheerful, upbeat girl she used to be.
  • Burning with Anger: Yang's fury at Summer's death causes her Fire Devil Slayer powers to envelope her.
  • Cartwright Curse: Downplayed in that neither of them are dead yet, but of Yang's two noted romantic interests, Natsu's currently suffering an And I Must Scream scenario inside of End's mind, while Lucy is repeatedly separated from her whether by Fairy Sphere entrapment or being on opposite sides of the conflict.
  • The Dreaded: As Yang's Devil Slayer powers grow more powerful she is growing more feared with even her family starting to become scared of her.
  • Face–Heel Turn: In Chapter 71, Yang's Trauma Conga Line throughout the story combines with Summer being killed by Weiss right before her eyes in a Heroic Sacrifice to save Ruby to send her completely over the edge, destroying her faith in her friends and sending her on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge against Weiss that she's more than willing to go through other former allies like Blake and Juvia to accomplish.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Dismisses Cinder's traumatic past or Summer's failures to set her straight as having any bearing on what kind of person Cinder turned out to be, something that actually bothers Mercury after speaking to Yang.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: She started to develop a genuine crush on Natsu and to a lesser extent Lucy while in Earthland, but she didn't try to pursue it since she figured out how Lucy feels about Natsu.
  • Power Of Hate: As a Devil Slayer Yang's powers increase when she feels negative emotion. As such when Weiss kills Summer right in front of her the rage and hatred she feels gives her a massive power boost.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Following Summer's death Yang activates her full demon mode boosting her powers to the point that Blake and Weiss are overwhelmed by her and she even manages to force her way through Juvia's Water Lock and later gains the ability to fly. Yang also shows an increased level of tactical prowess at one point even managing to outmaneuver Blake. What's more once Watts finishes the second Neo Hells Core she will become a Gate meaning that if she wasn't already she will soon be the most powerful member of Team RWBY.
  • Tranquil Fury: What makes Yang's rage at Weiss so terrifying for her is how for the most part Yang is not screaming and raging but remaining focused and showing a tactical mind.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Yang's life after returning from Earthland has not been pleasant. First, she loses her hand to Blake whose Take-Over magic was out of control during the Fall of Beacon, forcing her to stay behind to recover when the others set out to Haven. She also has to deal with the mounting insecurity about possibly turning into a Demon as a result of her Devil Slayer magic and what effect this could have on her relationships with her loved ones. Then she meets End and learns firsthand he's not Natsu. Then she meets Raven, who abandons her again to save her own skin and gets crushed by End when she tries fighting him. This is particularly devastating for Yang as she had been prepared to give Raven the benefit of the doubt for her reasons for leaving. During the battle at Haven, she cuts off her other arm in order to get free and join the battle for her friends. Eventually, things start to look up for her as she is reunited with her beloved foster mother who was actually alive all these years only for things to go to hell during the battle in the Grimmlands. First, Carla, a friend and someone she trusts, takes advantage of that trust to lie and manipulate her (albeit with good intentions), and then Summer is killed right in front of her eyes by Weiss. What makes it worse is that she was prepared to let Summer face justice for what she did but all she wanted was more time with her. Needless to say, she snaps, abandons her friends believing they don't care bout her, and tries to kill Weiss.
  • Undying Loyalty: Yang's is fiercely loyal to her friends and family and is willing to do almost anything for them including cutting one of her hands off. Pyrrha commented at one point that Yang was the most loyal person she knew. Unfortunately this turns out to be a character flaw as she is not only willing to go to unhealthy extremes but she expects her friends to be just as loyal to her and when she finds out that at least some of them aren't she reacts....poorly to it.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Yang's fury after Summer's deaths causes her Devil Slayer Powers to skyrocket so that Blake despite her increased Take Over Powers is no match for her and even Juvia a far more experienced Mage with an Elemental Advantage retreats with Weiss and Blake.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: While Yang isn't insane her increased Devil Slayer Powers have caused her temper to become far more dangerous. That combined with the loss of Summer and the betrayal and perceived betrayal of her friends and family have severely affected her mental health.
    Lucy Heartfillia
A Celestial Spirit Mage and a member of the Strongest Team. Lucy is the one who sealed the Strongest Team into Fairy Spheres which eventually led to them coming to Remnant.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Targets Salem during her fight with End, forcing him to abandon his assault on the airship. She is completely disgusted with herself for using that sort of tactic though.
  • Hold the Line: Manages to delay End long enough for the rest of Fairy Tail to escape.
  • Took a Level in Badass: First by getting her aura unlocked after the fight against Tyrian at Menagerie, and a much bigger one later on by getting a Star Dress from the Celestial Spirit King, with this Lucy becomes strong enough to at least hold off End in his Etherious Form making her for a while the most powerful member of Fairy Tail.
    Wendy Marvell
A Sky Dragon Slayer. Wendy is an orphan who was adopted by the Sky Dragon Grandeeney and later sent to the future where she eventually joined Fairy Tail.
  • The Medic: Serves as this for Fairy Tail.
  • The Mole: During the Grimmlands Arc, Wendy decides to pretend to defect to Salem in order to get Natsu a new body and damage Salem's Faction from the inside.
    Gray Fullbuster
Gray is the only survivor of an attack by the Demon Deliora and was adopted by the ice wizard Ur. After her death, he joined Fairy Tail and later became an Ice Devil Slayer.
  • The Ace: Gray is easily one of the stronger members of Fairy Tail and has one of their most impressive track records upon arriving in Remnant. He successfully defeated Mercury in a one-on-one fight and later managed to almost kill Hazel (the third strongest Gate after End and Summer) and he is the first member of the Strongest Team to unlock his Semblance. His Devil Slayer powers make him dangerous to the Gates all of whom are part demon and even Summer was so concerned about his abilities that she sabotaged him before facing him directly.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: On the giving and receiving end of them.
    • Suffers one to Summer due to her having him poisoned with Bane Particles before their fight, and he can't really do anything to her even after Weiss joins him.
    • Gives one to Mercury, freezing the water user in one attack.
  • Hypocrite: Is initially vehemently opposed to working with Salem's group due to them harming innocent people. However when Lucy brings up how they harmed End who at the time was completely innocent and hadn't done anything to them he quickly tries to justify it as doing what they had to do which as Erza points out to him is the exact same justification that Salem's Faction have been operating under. He gets over it following the end of the Grimmlands battle expressing regret over how his own actions played a role in the negotiations failing.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Unlike Erza, Gray knows when to retreat. He only engages End to try and find a way to evacuate Erza and when the demon starts to ramp up the heat he immediately flees with her at the first opportunity.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Accepts that it was wrong of him to blame End for his parents and mentor dying and even states that had circumstances been different he would actually apologize to the demon.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Shows this when he is initially fiercely opposed to trying to talk things over with Salem despite the fate of the world being at stake. However unlike Weiss he knows where this sort of mindset often leads having experienced it himself and reluctantly goes along with the rest of Fairy Tail in talking to Salem and urges Weiss to not let her desire for revenge control her. Unfortunately Weiss doesn't listen and like her teacher ends up hurting people she loves in her quest for revenge.
    Erza Scarlet Nikos
The Titania and the Queen of the Fairies. Erza was a long-standing member of Fairy Tail and the leader of the Strongest Team who at one point was made the Guild's 7th Guild master. She was also a mentor to Ruby who taught her Requip magic.
  • The Ace: Erza is one of Fairy Tail's strongest members and is one of the few capable of going one on one with a Gate (though she did ultimately need assistance to win). Erza has also put the most pressure on End so far and even manages to cut off his hand before she is defeated which given just how powerful End is and that she was fighting him alone is an exceptional achievement.
  • Badass Teacher: Erza is an exceptional teacher having trained both Ruby and her daughter Pyrrha and actually has a job as a combat teacher in Remnant.
  • Berserk Button: Do no harm Pyrrha in any way or you will face her wrath. Hurting her student Ruby and Fairy Tail in general is also a big one.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Manages to save Pyrrha and Raven from Cinder just before she was about to kill the former and take the Spring Maiden powers from the latter.
  • Big Good: Along with Ruby. Becomes the Guild Master for the New Fairy Tail Guild.
  • The Determinator: The biggest in all of Fairy Tail. It's what allows her to power through the unfathomable pain of Kyoka's curse as well as Wendy's ritual to restore her memory. However, it's this trait that ultimately leads to her downfall, as she continues to battle End despite knowing how much stronger than her he is, which results in her being crippled while he easily recovers from the damage she does to him.
  • The Dreaded: After their battle at Haven, Cinder quickly becomes terrified of her, actually having a panic attack when she sees her in the Grimmlands. Though given Cinder's character development and Erza being crippled it is unlikely to stick.
  • It's All My Fault: Blames herself for everything that went wrong in the Grimmlands noting that if she had just waited a few days for Salem to take down the barrier things might have gone different but she let her fear control her actions.
  • Mama Bear: Loves Pyrrha with all her heart and will threaten or attack anyone who harasses or harms her as Cinder finds out the hard way.
  • Master Swordswoman: Erza is probably the greatest melee fighter in all of Remnant. Sadly, she likely loses this title after she is crippled by End.
    Carla
An Exceed companion, friend, and caretaker to Wendy's who has been with her for years. Carla can get brief visions of the future.
  • Easily Forgiven: Qrow forgives Carla for manipulating Yang pretty easily. Subverted hard with Yang who hates her almost as much as she has come to loath Weiss.
  • Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: What she basically tells Qrow to do at several points.
  • Hypocrite: Something she miserably acknowledges. She repeatedly expressed concern and disapproval over Wendy's more morally grey actions and ideas only to take advantage of Yang's trust in her to manipulate her which is arguably far worse then anything Wendy has done.
  • Irony: One of her reasons for manipulating Yang was to avoid a fighting her. However by doing that she prevented her from saving Summer which drove her into Salem's arms guaranteeing a fight the next time they meet especially since Yang's hatred of her is second only to her hatred of Weiss.
  • Last of Her Kind: Alongside Happy she is the last Exceed with the others presumably being killed when Seram destroyed Earthland.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When she realizes the full implications of lying to and manipulating Yang and that it drove her away from Fairy Tail she is guilt-stricken and ashamed.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Screws up massively in the Grimmlands. Her choice to manipulate Yang kept her from being there to save Summer, which not only caused Yang to leave Fairy Tail but had a severe effect on her psyche. In addition, Summer's death ended any possibility of Fairy Tail and Salem's Faction making peace and it almost caused Ruby to wipe out the timeline.
  • Odd Friendship: Her close friendship with the drunken laid back Qrow is certainly one few expected.
    Loke
The Spirit of the Lion. A Celestial Spirit and a member of Fairy Tail. Loke is also old friends with both Ozpin and Salem.
  • Old Friend: To both Salem and Ozpin. With Ozpin when he was Ozma he had Loke's key for a while and the two of them were very close friends. Salem was Loke's teacher who taught him and the other Zodiac spirits how to fight.
    Pyrrha Nikos
A member of Team JNPR. Pyrrha is a tournament champion from Mistral who enrolled at Beacon in an attempt to escape her stardom. It's revealed that Pyrrha is the daughter of Jellal and Erza, who was conceived by them in Earthland but was born in Remnant. Like her father, she uses Heavenly Body Magic.
  • The Ace: Probably the most talented magic user amongst those who were born on Remnant. As Pyrrha's parents were born in Earthland, she doesn't suffer from the same small origins that other magic-wielders of Remnant do. After studying magic for a few months, she can hold her own at least for a while against a powerful Gate like Cinder though she is ultimately no match.
  • Badass in Distress: While a very skilled fighter who has access to a powerful form of magic Pyrrha does need to be saved frequently. First Wendy and Ruby save her from Cinder during the Fall of Beacon. She gets saved again from Cinder at Haven this time by Erza though with Ravens help she returns the favor soon afterwards. Then during the Grimmlands battle she is rescued by Jellal from her out of control spell.
  • Can't Catch Up: Cinder is always ahead of Pyrrha. At Beacon Cinder has the Maiden powers and crushes her. At Haven Pyrrha has her Heavenly Body magic but now Cinder has become a Gate and once again she is defeated. Then at the Grimmlands she has improved her abilities and shows a more strategic mind but Cinder manages to overcome some of her trauma and uses her Spirit Slayer Magic and Pyrrha is defeated yet again.
  • Child of Two Worlds: Pyrrha was conceived in Earthland but was born on Remnant.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Suffers two of these from Cinder at Beacon and Haven. She does better in their third fight in the Grimmlands, but is still ultimately bested when Cinder works through her trauma enough to use her Spirit Slayer Magic.
  • Foil: For Cinder. Both she and Cinder were rendered helpless at one point of their lives and both sought power to an unhealthy degree in order to avoid this feeling. Both while intelligent can at times not think about the full consequences of their actions until it is too late, something they both realize. They also both have powerful mothers who they adore. However Pyrrha does not have Cinder's trauma and rage which keeps her from becoming a villain like her Archenemy.
  • Spared By Adaptation: Thanks to Ruby, Carla, and Wendy Pyrrha manages to avoid her canon death by Cinder during the Fall of Beacon though she is left in critical condition.
  • Unknown Rival: After suffering a Curb-Stomp Battle at Beacon, Pyrrha is practically obsessed with defeating Cinder and the main reason she trains in magic is to get strong enough to beat her. Cinder for her part doesn't give Pyrrha a second thought and finds her more annoying then anything else. A big part of Pyrrha's character development after their second battle at Haven is learning to let go of the grudge and process her fear in a more healthy manner.
    Lie Ren
A member of Team JNPR, Ren is an orphan who lost his home and family to Grimm when he was a child and befriended his fellow orphan Nora Valkyrie and they later enrolled in Beacon together. He uses Crash Magic in battle.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Well maybe not 'mass' destruction but his Crash Magic does pack quite a punch. Unfortunately for Ren, his small origin means that he can't hope to do even half the damage Gildarts could do with the same magic. However, when his power is taken by someone with a larger origin, Eclipse Etherious Jaune, it brings down an entire castle.
    Nora Valkyrie
A member of Team JNPR. Nora is an orphan and a childhood friend of Ren both of whom lost there home to a Grimm attack when they were young and later enrolled in Beacon together. She uses Light Refraction magic in battle.
  • Invisibility: The basic usage of her magic is to refract light to turn targets invisible, though after some tutelage from Ozpin, she learns how to create color with her magic, paving the way for a future Master of Illusion.
  • Irony: Despite her rather loud personality one of the main uses of Nora's magic is too become invisible.
  • Heroic B So D: Ren being absorbed by Jaune shatters Nora and Pyrrha needs to get her back on her feet.
    Jaune Arc
The Leader of Team JNPR. Jaune faked his way into Beacon via falsifying transcripts about attending combat schools. He uses Holy Barrier Magic in battle and is later made the Gate of the Ram with the power of Aries and Franmalth.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Loses badly to Salem in the Grimmlands arc.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Jaune was never going to beat End but he does manage to repel several attacks. Given it's End he was up against that is extremely impressive, so much so that End offers him a place on the Gates.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Started out as Weak, but Skilled but evolved into this. After becoming a Gate and fusing with Ren his power is probably on the same level as Summer and Hazel (who outside of End are probably the strongest Gates) but the process drives him mad and his approach to battle is to blow up or absorb everyone. When he goes up against Salem who is unaffected by either he predictably does poorly.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Jaune becomes a Gate, making him one of the most powerful beings on Remnant. However Gray and the rest of Team JNPR disrupt his Ascension before it's complete causing Aries and Franmalth minds to fuse with his driving him insane.
    Penny Polendina
An android created by Professor Pietro Polendina and a close friend of Ruby. Penny was believed to have been accidentally killed by Pyrrha during the Vytal Tournament but it was later revealed that her core was still intact and was built a new and more advanced body. She is later identified as a Machia, the same race as Wahl of the Spriggan Twelve.
    Qrow Branwen
Uncle of Ruby and Yang and brother of Raven. Qrow was a member of Team STRQ and is a member of Ozpin's Circle. He also has the ability to turn into a bird and is also considered one of the best Huntsmen on Remnant.
  • Badass Normal: While he does technically have magic it's only to turn himself into a bird and has no real use in combat. He is however one of the best and most skilled huntsmen on Remnant.
    Raven Branwen
Raven is the biological mother of Yang, sister of Qrow and a former member of Team STRQ who deserted Ozpin's circle to lead her bandit tribe in Mistral. Her Semblance allows her to create portals to people she has emotional connections with and it's later shown that she is the Spring Maiden.
  • The Atoner: Desperately wants to atone for her actions prior to meeting up with Fairy Tail. She has had middling success so far.
  • Broken Pedestal: She is this to Yang. Yang sincerely hoped that Raven had a good reason for leaving and was prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt. When Raven leaves her to End, she is crushed. Their second meeting in the Grimmlands makes this even worse with Raven attacking Summer, which cements Yang's views of her as a cowardly villain and she wants her dead.
  • Dirty Coward: What she starts the story off as. She abandons Yang again to End in order to save her own skin and later is prepared to abandon Erza and Pyrrha to Cinder, only stopping at the last minute due to Erza reminding her of Summer. A lot of her character development is learning to control her fear.
  • Oh, Crap!: When she realizes that End is accompanying Yang, her first reaction is to try and portal out in panic. Given just what End is capable of, however, this reaction is pretty understandable.
  • Power Creep, Power Seep: In RWBY, Raven is one of the powerful and skilled characters in the whole series, being both an extremely talented and skilled fighter and an experienced Maiden in her physical prime. Here on the other hand where plenty of characters have magic, she is barely ahead of Badass Normal like Qrow and Sun and her primary usefulness to Fairy Tail is that her Semblance makes an excellent getaway tool.
    • This is shown prominently in the battle of Haven. In canon, Raven manages to overpower Cinder in a direct one-on-one fight. Here, Cinder, once she activates her Eclipse Etherious Form, easily defeats Raven even with Pyrrha backing her up.
  • Redemption Rejection: Yang's attitude towards her after being abandoned by her again. While Raven feels genuine remorse for her actions, Yang does not have the slightest interest in forgiving her and Raven does not expect her to.
    Jellal Fernandez
The Leader of Crime Sorciere and a childhood friend and later boyfriend to Erza. It's later revealed that he is the father of Erza's daughter Pyrrha.
  • The Ace: He is likely the most powerful and skilled sorcerer on Fairy Tail's side. His only fight so far consists of curb stomping Cinder. Keep in mind that Cinder has defeated Pyrrha on multiple occasions and came very close to killing Erza and Jellal not only beat her by himself, but did so with only one spell, albeit Sema.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Manages to rescue Pyrrha from her out of control Altaris Spell.
  • Disappeared Dad: Due to Erza being stuck on Remnant, Jellal had no idea that she was pregnant and was not involved in raising Pyrrha. He feels guilty over this despite there being nothing he could have done about the situation.
  • Papa Wolf: Is as protective of Pyrrha as Erza is. When he discovers that Cinder has injured her, he immediately unleashes Semma, his most powerful spell, and brings a meteorite down on her.
    Juvia Lockser
A member of Phantom Lord who later joined Fairy Tail after that Guild was dissolved. Juvia is a Water Wizard and is in love with Gray something she makes no secret about.
  • Making a Splash: Juvia's magic allows her to create and manipulate water.
  • Nice Girl: An extremely kind young woman. Despite her love for Gray she doesn't hold Weiss kissing him against her as they both thought she was dead at the time and she wouldn't want Gray to not be happy. Also despite her closeness to Weiss she is also the member of Fairy Tail who shows the most sympathy for Yang's position.
  • Polyamory: Juvia tells Weiss that she has no issues with her and Gray deciding to start a relationship, as they chose to do this when they had every reason to think Juvia was dead, and goes even further to state that if they want to, she would happily accept Weiss as much as Gray. Though she does state that for the moment neither she and Weiss are together.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Compared to Mercury who uses his water magic/curse to just flood a battlefield Juvia has much less raw power but has far more creative ways of using her magic in addition to being much more experienced then him.
    Natsu Dragneel
The Salamander. Natsu is a Fire Dragon Slayer and one of Fairy Tail's strongest members. He is also the younger brother of the Dark Wizard Zeref. Zeref resurrecting him is a major starting point for much of plot of the Fairy Tail manga. Unknown to Natsu when Zeref resurrected him he put his soul into the body of the demon who would one day become known as End.
  • Ambiguous Situation: End claims that all of Natsu's victories and most of his power came from using the demon as a battery. End is hardly unbiased however and it's unclear just how much of Natsu's success was due to End.
  • And I Must Scream: Has been stuck inside Ends body unable to move or speak for 50 years. It's even worse as he has been forced to watch as End battles and defeats some of his closest friends like Yang, Wendy, Lucy and Erza.
  • The Ghost: Has not appeared in the story so far outside of flashbacks. This is because he is currently trapped inside End's body.
  • The Mentor: Served as this to Yang teaching her how to use Fire Magic.
  • Unknown Rival: End absolutely despises Natsu with all his being while Natsu for years had no idea who End was and that he was living in someone else's body.

Salem's Faction

A group led by the mysterious and powerful Salem most of whom are known as the Gates. They have been fighting Ozpin and his allies for many years and seek to claim the Relics hidden under the 4 huntsmen Academies. A deeper look at them suggests though that they may not be as villainous as they first appear.
    In General
  • Adaptational Heroism: Downplayed Trope. Unlike the mass murdering terrorists who seek to destroy the Huntsmen Academies in canon the Salem's Faction is made up of mostly well intentioned people who genuinely seek to both save and improve Remnant. Of course, they are still the story's villains, and are going to kill and betray a lot of people to do it.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the original series, most of them were only skilled fighters. Here, thanks to Neo-Hell's Core, many of them have become One Man Armies. It's notable that it usually requires team-ups by multiple wizards to defeat any of them, leaving several of their opponents seriously injured, and, in several cases, they were actually pulling their punches due to Salem's orders to capture Team RWBY or any Fairy Tail wizard rather than kill them. In addition they also have several new members and work together far more effectively albeit there is still some Teeth-Clenched Teamwork between certain members.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Their three top members, Salem, End, and Summer are also their strongest fighters.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Both Salem and End are so powerful that even in their base forms Fairy Tails best fighters are severely outmatched by them and in their Eclipse/Eclipse Etherious Forms they become basically Physical Gods. Combine that with both of them being very intelligent tacticians/strategists,never underestimating their opponents as well as the Gates backing them up then defeating Fairy Tail should be relatively easy for them. Fortunately for Fairy Tail they both have handicaps that keep them from fully exploiting their strength.
    • For Salem she has two. One is Serams madness which acts up whenever she gets very angry and costs her both her intelligence and many of her powers. The other is the sad fact that Fairy Tail are her old friends who gave her hope in her darkest hour and she does not want to kill them even after Summers death she only reluctantly gave her Gates permission to use lethal force.
    • For End its his Hair-Trigger Temper which often causes him to lose sight of the bigger picture and act far more recklessly in addition to sometimes putting his allies in danger.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Might as well be the entire faction's battlecry. Summer reflects this the most, but every one of them is willing to do horrible things if necessary- and in Cinder's case, even if not necessary.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: There victory at the Battle of the Grimmlands cost them their headquarters, Summer their third best fighter and allowed them to be infiltrated by Wendy's group. What's more in the aftermath Cinder and her team decide to go rogue. That being said Fairy Tail is if anything in worse condition. Erza one of Fairy Tail's best fighters has been crippled, both Jaune and Ren are trapped in Jaune's out of control Eclipse Etherious Form and with Wendy undercover Fairy Tail has no medic. Both Weiss and Nora have been severely emotionally compromised by what happened in addition to Weiss losing an eye which could seriously effect their combat effectiveness in the future. Also Lucy was forced to sacrifice Loke's key to call the Celestial Spirit King down removing him from the fight and keeping Lucy from calling down the king again. What's more Salem's Faction gained a powerful new ally in Yang and Salem has given the Gates permission to use lethal force. So while it was a costly victory it is still a victory.
  • Take Over the World: One of their main goals is to take over the world. However they do not seek to do this for power but so that they can turn the worlds population into Eclipse Etherious so that they can defeat the Gods/Umbral Spirit King as well as make Remnant a peaceful and better world.
  • Teeth Clenched Team Work: While Salem does encourage good relations there is still a considerable bit of this in her Inner Circle. Watts in particular only seems to get along with Tyrian and Salem and has antagonized both Cinder and Summer at times while Cinder initially only gets along with Summer and is disliked by almost everyone else.
  • True Companions: Salem tries to encourage this dynamic among her followers with mixed results. Summer, Hazel, Sienna, End, and even Tyrian are all on board. Watts and Cinder pay it lip service, Mercury isn't interested and simply regards Salem as his new boss and the others as co-workers and Emerald really doesn't interact with anyone outside of Cinder and Mercury.
    Salem
The Queen of the Grimm. Salem has been in conflict with Ozpin for eons and wishes to take the Relics that Ozpin is guarding. Her true identity is Sitara a friend of both Team RWBY and Fairy Tail who saved both at different points.
  • Adaptational Badass: The canon Salem's, while a capable Sorceress, threat factor is more due to her control of the Grimm and her skill at manipulating and dividing others than as a fighter. This Salem on the other hand is an outright Physical God who boasts a large arsenal of very powerful magic and curses and is capable of holding her own against the likes of the Celestial Spirit King and Acnologia by herself.
  • Adaptational Heroism: The biggest in the story, though ironically, it doesn't change much. Salem in canon is cruel, extremely selfish and vengeful, and rules her faction with fear and manipulation. This Salem is much kinder and more considerate, usually very selfless, and inspires genuine loyalty from her faction who she views as her friends and comrades. She's still killing a whole hell of a lot of people, though, even for good causes, so at day's end, she's still the Big Bad.
  • Archenemy: Has had several over the years.
    • Her first during the time of Earthland was Mard Geer. He was the one who kidnapped and experimented on her and she returns the favor by killing him twice.
    • The Gods. Seram and Ankh are the root of almost all her suffering. She hates them more then all her other enemies combined and wants them dead.
    • The Umbral Spirit King. He clearly despises Salem and was eager to kill her at Ankhseram's command. He repeatedly sends the Umbral Spirts to Remnant to attack her. Salem for her part deeply fears him and after the parley at the Grimmlands has decided to try and target him rather then the Brothers.
    • Ozpin/Ozma. Salem's former husband who rescued her from Mard Geer. The two of them have been at war for years with Salem trying to claim the relics and Ozpin trying to keep them away from her. However, their enmity is not as bad as it is in canon as they have teamed up at times and, with Summer's influence, Salem has come to understand Ozpin's actions better and has let go of much of her dislike for him.
    • Ruby. While Erza is the leader of Fairy Tail (her main opponents), Ruby is the second-in-command and field leader and has much more history with the Queen. Of all the members of Team RWBY, Salem was closest to Ruby, who managed to convince her to stop trying to kill herself. She even named one of her daughters after Ruby. Both Salem and Ruby still view each other as friends and hate that they are fighting, but neither will back down from their respective stances.
  • Always Someone Better: Serves as this to Ozpin/Ozma. In RWBY, Ozma, until he sacrificed much of his power to create the Maidens, was a superior fighter to Salem, with her immortality being the only reason she won their fight. Here, Salem has always been the more powerful of the two even when she was just a Celestial Spirit, shown by how she was able to defeat Mard Geer by herself, something he couldn't do. It gets even worse as Ozpin suffers from Badass Decay due to reincarnating into bodies with smaller origins while Salem masters more and more types of magic over the eons. In other words, Ozpin has grown weaker and weaker as the years go on while Salem has only grown stronger. She's even his superior when it comes to planning; Salem does have a plan for Remnant, albeit a horrifying one.
  • The Archmage: Salem's knowledge of magic is at least equal to and likely exceeds Ozpin's. Her knowledge of Curses is only surpassed by Zeref, who created that form of sorcery. Many of the Metria Spells were created by Salem and she was able to recreate and modify the Universe One Spell that Irene used despite not being a master enchanter, though Irene herself notes that that particular spell still needs some adjustments to work properly.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: The Queen of the Grimm and leader of her faction, Salem is one of the most powerful beings in Earthland's history. Even the Gates, most of whom are One Man Armies, pale in comparison to her power with only End being on her level. The list of enemies she has defeated include Mard Geer, Kyoka, the White Witch (albeit with Lucy's help), Gildarts (while under the White Witch's mind control), Ozma, Jaune, and End (though he was crazy and confused at the time).
  • Benevolent Boss: Salem sincerely cares for all her followers and usually listens to their opinions and has no problems with being disagreed with or questioned. The only time she attacks one of her followers is when she is under the influence of Seram's Madness and one of the main responsibilities she gave End was to prevent her from hurting any of her circle should she lose control. She does show a certain favoritism however, with End and Summer being at the top.
  • Berserk Button: Implying she doesn't care about her friends and followers. The second her father even implied this Serams Madness took over at once and she attacked.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: A rare case in a Big Bad. Salem is a genuinely pleasant person most of the time (much to the bewilderment of people who meet the feared Queen of the Grimm for the first time) and is eager to make new friends but it's also made clear that messing with her is a bad idea and making her angry a worse one. Sienna at one point muses that Salem's genuine kindness actually makes her more dangerous then if she was a cruel villain (like the Salem in canon).
  • Big Bad: Serves as the main antagonist of the story.
  • Broken Ace: An incredibly powerful and skilled Sorceress who assembled a group capable of taking over entire kingdoms. However she is also a sad tortured woman at heart, broken by all the suffering she has endured, and constantly having to struggle to keep Seram's Madness from overwhelming her.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: When she rescues Team RWBY, she manages to one shot Kyoka, one of Erza's most challenging opponents in canon.
    • During the Grimmlands Arc, she faces off with Jaune/Ren and makes pretty short work of him and is rather casual about it.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Salem's past consists mostly of pain, suffering and loss with any brief periods of happiness being snatched away... sometimes by her own hand.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Salem dresses in black and has a frightening appearance. But with this story setting up Grey-and-Grey Morality, calling her evil is a bit of a stretch. While Salem is prepared to kill to accomplish her goals, she is also noted to have done a lot of good for Remnant, such as helping to save Vale during the Great War and her goals would actually benefit Remnant. Most of Fairy Tail, including the two Big Goods Ruby and Erza, view Salem as more misguided then evil.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Making someone as damaged as Cinder a Gate as well as putting her in charge of taking the Relic of Choice was not a good idea as she later acknowledges. How someone this intelligent didn't think of it beforehand is a riddle for the ages.
  • The Dreaded: Salem may be much kinder in this universe but she is just as feared and for good reason. Both Raven and Lionheart abandon Ozpin when they learn she is immortal. Even the members of Fairy Tail are very wary of facing her directly, with Erza thinking that trying to take her and End head-on would be a bad idea. When she brings out her Eclipse Etherious Form, Fairy Tail hightails it out of the Grimmlands.
  • If I Wanted You Dead...: It's pointed out multiple times that if Salem's real goal was the destruction of mankind, then she would have little difficulty bringing that about if she was the Grimm's true master.
    • Ruby also recognizes this as a flaw in Weiss's arguments about Salem and Summer blowing up their castle in attempt to kill Fairy Tail, knowing that if Salem truly wanted them dead, she wouldn't have to resort to that.
  • Implacable Woman: Salem's Complete Immortality and high speed Healing Factor make her basically unstoppable. Even Fairy Glitter one of the 3 Great Fairy Magics is only capable of keeping her down for a few minutes before she recovers.
  • Lack of Empathy: The most damning part of Salem's personality is that she is incredibly dismissive of the pain she inflicts, to the point of being bothered when other people hold the things she's done against her. She has come to accept the deaths and harm she will cause in pursuit of greater goals, so why haven't they? In her first meeting with Weiss after killing her mother, Salem's thoughts are to wonder why Weiss won't accept it as for the best, instead of accepting that Weiss has good reason to hate her.
  • Odd Friendship: Salem despised Mard Geer and Tartaros and worked with Team RWBY to help kill several of their members at one point. Thus it's rather surprising/ironic that Salem's closest friend is End, the ultimate Etherious who Tartaros worked so hard to free.
  • Overly Long Name: Salems original name was Sitara Astra Lumos Estralia Malina.
  • Never My Fault: Seems to genuinely not understand why her former friends now all hate her for what she's done. This is particularly bizarre in the case of Weiss, whose mother was murdered to further Salem's plans; Salem seemingly can't wrap her head around the idea that people can be mad at her for what she's done. It probably goes a long way to explaining why she makes so many enemies.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Shows this when she still wants to go after the Brothers despite Ruby offering a somewhat feasible plan to target the less powerful Umbral Spirit King due largely to all the suffering they inflicted on her. End and Summer gently ease her out of this mindset and when she realizes this, she agrees that targeting the Umbral Spirit King is the better option.
    • Completely averted in regards to Weiss. While Salem is angry and saddened by Summer's death, she at least initially wanted to avoid killing Fairy Tail members. While Salem does ultimately give the order to kill Weiss on sight, the reason is not for vengeance but out of fear that Weiss may summon the Umbral Spirit King to Remnant before they are ready. And given that Weiss has already summoned his scythe, which should be impossible, this is a valid concern.
  • Superpower Lottery: Salem wins this easily as she has the largest arsenal of sorcery of anyone on Remnant. When she was first created, she was given the ability to command the Zodiac which after her becoming part Umbral Spirt extends to nearby Grimm. She can also use multiple Elemental Magics, all of which are superior to the Maidens' powers. She can use the Metria spells far better then Lucy can (Unsurprising considering she invented at least a few of them). Salem is also a competent, if not master, healer and enchanter. In addition, she has physical strength on the same level as the Gates and is extremely fast as well. Her Transitive Curse means that she can cast any magic as a curse and any curse as magic, which means that she doesn't need a Maiden nearby to utilize her magic fully in addition to being incredibly useful against opponents like Acnologia or Franmalth who are immune to most types of Magic. The Queen also has access to all the Lovecraftian Superpower she has in canon, meaning she can spawn Grimm arms from anywhere and is a Rubber Man which she uses in conjunction with her Super-Strength. If that weren't enough, she still has her Complete Immortality and Deadpool level Healing Factor from canon, which means that she can recover from any attack no matter how devastating in seconds and either doesn't feel pain from them or is capable of ignoring it. The only attacks that are somewhat effective on her are Spirit Slayer Magic and End's Fire and she still recovered from a point blank blast from the former in less then a minute. Finally and most devastatingly, she has her Eclipse Etherious Form, a giant 12-headed hydra that can fight evenly with Acnologia one-on-one for a considerable period of time while he's in his dragon form, a feat only Igneel managed. Salem wasn't exaggerating when she called herself one of the most powerful beings in history and the immense fear she inspires is clearly justified.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: Salem seems to have been quite trusting when she resided in the Celestial Spirit World and was eager to see and meet the humans that the other Celestial Spirits had told her about. Thousands of years of experiencing how foolish and stupid humans can be at times has left her completely cynical of most humans, believing that only a small amount of them can ever raise above their base nature.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: In terms of close combat, Salem, like in canon, doesn't seems to have any skills but simply relies on her strength, speed, and immortality. In terms of magic, however Salem's skills are unequaled in Remnant in addition to having enormous amounts of raw power.
    End
The Ophiuchus End serves as Salem's second in command and enforcer. His job is to take care of any threat the Gates cannot handle. His true identity is E.N.D the ultimate Etherious created by Zeref to kill him.
  • The Ace: Yang at one point actually calls him Salem's Ace. End's powers are nothing short of incredible with him defeating opponents such as Jaune, Wendy, Erza, Raven, Yang and Lucy at various points. The only opponent he has actually lost too so far was to Salem and during that battle he was crazed and confused and despite that he still gave her a hard fight and she was noted to be limping when it was over. Even the Gates quickly fall into line when he puts his foot down.
  • Always Someone Better: Anything Natsu can do End can do better. He is stronger, faster, smarter, his flames are hotter and more powerful, End also uses his fire more creatively and effectively, and he has Natsu's super senses but doesn't suffer from his motion sickness. Lucy acknowledges that even when Natsu was at his strongest when fighting Mercphobia he still paled in comparison to End.
  • Archenemy: To Lucy and Natsu. Natsu was unknowingly occupying his body for years ever since Zeref resurrected him and unintentionally used him as battery at times something End resents. Lucy when she rewrote the book of E.N.D caused End excruciating pain and almost killed him. He has tried to kill Lucy twice and came very close on both occasions.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: His Etherious forms makes him practically unbeatable but its so indiscriminately destructive that any nearby allies have to flee for their lives making it impractical to use in any situation where someone he doesn't want dead is within a few miles.
  • Berserk Button: End has quite a few and he can grow murderous if any of them are pressed.
    • Bringing up or talking about Natsu is usually a bad idea when End is around. Don't call End Natsu, Don't say their similar, and don't say that Natsu is strong.
    • Don't call him E.N.D his name is End thank you very much.
    • Lucy in general. Lucy unknowingly tried to murder End and caused him immense pain something he hates her for. Just looking at her pisses him off and he has tried to kill her twice.
    • His absolute biggest one however is trying to attack Salem. Salem is the first friend he ever had and who also saved him from Lucy and gave him control over his body.
  • The Chess Master: While not at the same level as Summer End is shown to be very cunning and a capable strategist. He successfully corners Fairy Tail in the battle of Haven and had Cinder followed his orders the fight would have been over very quickly.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Defeats Yang and Raven easily with Raven only escaping thanks to him getting careless.
  • The Dreaded: The most feared of all Salem's Faction even more then Salem herself. Both the Gates and members of Fairy Tail are terrified of him. Even Gray whose Devil Slayer powers should on paper give him an advantage over him and who at one point dedicated himself to killing End quickly retreats when he realizes that End is getting serious. The only people who don't fear End are Salem and Summer.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: End gets angry very easily and its not a good idea to be in his vicinity when that happens. Salem and to a lesser extent Happy are the only ones who can calm him down.
  • Hopeless Boss Fight: Almost all of End opponents know they're never going to beat him and just try and hold him off to buy time for their friends. The only enemy who actually tries to defeat him is Erza (and that was only because she had to get through him to reach the rest of Fairy Tail) and that fight ends with her crippled and burnt to a crisp.
  • If I Wanted You Dead...: It's made clear that if End was actually aiming to kill then almost all his opponents would be dead.
  • The Juggernaut: End is utterly unstoppable in combat and has defeated everything Fairy Tail can throw at him so far. At the battle of Haven Ruby's plan is not defeat End but simply to keep him occupied and away from the Gates and even after Mercury and Cinder are defeated he still could have won the battle for Salem's Faction if the arrival of Summers army didn't require him to retreat.
  • Logical Weakness: Ends Fire is capable of killing Immortals and destroying mountains but as he himself acknowledges its still fire and as such cannot operate in a vacuum which is something Jaune uses to block one of his attacks. Though its hardly foolproof and End has several ways around it such as using his immense physical strength or lava.
  • Mirror Character: Oddly enough he is this to Gray. They are both one of the strongest fighters on their respective sides. Both have an enormous amount of anger and can at times let it control them and do things they later regret because of it. They also both served as a rival to Natsu, though with Gray it was usually a friendly one while End hates Natsu and served as his Unknown Rival.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Jaune described End as a Natural Disaster Waiting to Happen and him just showing up is enough to cause any area he is in to feel much hotter. He obliterates the Brawnwen Tribe with a single attack and when he later loses control during the Battle of Haven, he nearly burns the Academy to the ground. This is actually a problem for him. His powers are so destructive that he has to severely restrict them to keep from killing people or destroying places he doesn't want to. Salem at one point states he could have handled the Haven mission by himself, but it would require him to use too much power and would destroy the school which she doesn't want. This allows opponents who are much weaker than him like Jaune and Wendy to hold him off for some time. When he activates his Etherious form, it gets much worse. His very presence causes the surrounding lands to turn to lava and Hazel believes that only Salem's Etherious Form and the Celestial Spirit King can avoid being incinerated while in his vicinity. His ultimate attack The End is capable of obliterating Mountains. Lucy flat out thinks he can destroy the world in this form.
  • Strong and Skilled: Is a firm advocate of this and is outright disdainful of those who rely solely on raw power to win (largely because of his hatred for Natsu). End probably has even more raw power then Salem but his skill is far greater then Natsu.
  • Super-Strength: While End prefers to fight at a distance he posses immense strength, enough to overpower dedicated close range combatants who are immensely strong themselves like Erza and Yang.
  • Undying Loyalty: The only one who is more loyal to Salem is Tyrian (who literally worships Salem). He's no sycophant though and wont hesitate to disagree with her if he thinks she's wrong.
  • Walking Wasteland: His Etherious form turns almost everything he is close too into lava.
  • World's Strongest Man: He and Salem are the two most powerful beings in Remnant. End calls himself the strongest on the planet indicating that he at least believes himself to be the stronger of the two. Irene believes End to be the mightiest being on Remnant suggesting that he may in fact be more powerful then the Queen.
  • You Are What You Hate: Despite his hatred of being compared to or mistaken for Natsu, End ultimately shares many of Natsu's traits. A quick way to drive him up the wall is to point this out.
    Summer Rose
The Gate of the Maiden. The biological mother of Ruby and the adopted one of Yang and Cinder. The former leader of Team STQR and a key member of Ozpin's circle. She was believed to be dead after a mission to Salem's castle. Unknown to her friends and family Summer was revived by Salem and later agreed to join her. She has the power of Virgo and Seilah.
  • All for Nothing: Summer did everything for her daughters... and realizes, right before she dies, that everything she has ever done has only hurt them, and worse, she didn't even accomplish the noble goals that drove her worse acts. As she herself states, she was a failure of a mother and a failure of a monster.
  • Broken Ace: Summer was one of the most talented students to ever attend Beacon (even more so than Pyrrha) and was the best fighter of her Team which was considered the best in the world in its time. After becoming a Gate her power is surpassed only by Salem and End. In addition she is probably the best tactician/strategist in the story. However she is also a sad broken woman tormented by the choices she feel she has to make in order to save the world.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Downplayed. Summer dies pushing Ruby out of the way of Weiss's out of control attack in a moment the story makes clear is done out of genuine motherly love... but the attack is only coming because Summer killed Weiss' mother, and Ruby is only unable to move out of the way on her own because Summer has been pummeling her senseless for the last little bit.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: While Salem in far from incompetent most of the success her faction has in the first half of the story is due to Summer.
  • Morality Pet: She serves as one to all of Salem's Faction including the Queen herself making her more amendable to working with Ozpin despite all the bad blood between them. She also works as one to Cinder and is probably the only reason she has some sense of morality at the beginning of the story that her canon self completely lacks.
  • The Poorly Chosen One: Ozpin believed that Summer was the one who could ultimately defeat Salem. When she actually faces the Queen however all she manages to do is make her angry before being defeated. Then after being exposed to the truth of Ozpin and Salem's conflict she decides to stand with the Queen. What makes it even worse is that Salem was never the greatest threat to Remnant the Umbral Spirit King is and defeating the Queen would do nothing to stop his arrival.
    Hazel Rainart
The Gate of the Golden Bull. A former member of Ozpin's circle who after the tragic death of his sister joined Salem determined to help create a world where children like his sister wont be sacrificed. He has the power of Taurus and Tempester.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In this universe Hazel loses not only his sister but his entire family to the Grimm though its his sister Gretchen's death that hurts the most like in canon.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Hazel's reasons for hating Ozpin are far more justified then they are in canon. In canon his main reason for hating him is because he wanted someone to blame for Gretchen's death and being unable to defeat Salem he chose Ozpin. Here he hates Ozpin because the headmaster has been doing nothing to try and stop the Grimm and instead sends children like his sister to their deaths while he focus's on opposing Salem who is trying to destroy the Grimm and he is doing that by lying to people who trust him (like Hazel) that Salem is Grimm monster who wants to destroy humanity.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: Hazel's relationship with Salem is very different then in canon. There he only follows her due to believing her victory is inevitable as well as wanting revenge on Ozpin. Here he firmly believes in her cause and even seems to admire Salem and the two get along perfectly well.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Hazel's fighting style is very straightforward and offensively oriented. For defense he relies on his Semblence and his own immense durability. It's usually quite successful with both Wendy and Oscar barely being able to hold him off and even Gray being overwhelmed by his assault with only him unlocking his semblance at the last possible moment keeping him alive.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Hazel is a pretty quiet guy for the most part. However he is also one of the most powerful of the Gates, who during the Grimmlands battle overpowers Wendy and Oscar and would have killed Gray had he not unlocked his Semblance exactly when he did.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Effortlessly defeats Adam when he tries to assassinate Sienna establishing just how dangerous the Gates are.
  • Lightning Bruiser: After accessing his Eclipse Etherious form and injecting himself with Dust Crystals Hazel's speed is compared to Laxus (who can move as fast as lightning) and is as strong as a Dragon.
  • Revenge Before Reason: While Hazel's grudge against Ozpin is much more justified and understandable then in canon he still lets it blind it him at times like during the Grimmlands battle where he repeatedly tries to kill Oscar thinking he is Ozpin which eventually costs the boy his body.
    • When his sister died he charges off into the Grimmlands in a suicide attack on Salem believing her to be Master of the Grimm.
  • Senseless Sacrifice: What he believes his sister and all the other huntsmen and huntresses deaths in battle are due to the Grimm never ending. It's why he was ok with Summer using his cousin's name since at least it makes her death worth something.
    Tyrian Callows
The Gate of the Scorpion. A former member of the White Fang who after being used as a decoy by his superiors was discovered by Salem and became one of her first Gates. He has the powers of Scorpio and Jackal.
  • Adaptational Heroism: While Tyrian is still an Axe-Crazy killer like in canon he manages to keep his love of killing under control out of devotion to Salem. While he does slaughter half the Menagerie guard as Sienna later points out they attacked him first after he had saved Ghira and Kali. Also in canon he knows that Salem wants to destroy the world and finds the idea thrilling here he fully supports Salem's plans for a new and better world.
  • One-Man Army: Wipes out half the Menagerie Guard in one attack.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: When fighting in a desert Tyrian's destructive power is probably only surpassed by Salem and End given he can turn every grain of sand into a bomb.
  • Sand Blaster: Thanks to Scorpio he has this and combines it with Jackal's power to turn every grain of sand into a bomb to devastating effect.
  • Undying Loyalty: The most devoted and loyal of all the Gates. Salem is his goddess and gaining her approval is the most important thing in the world to him.
    Arthur Watts
The Gate of the Goat. A disgraced Atlesian Scientist who was later recruited by Salem to serve as her scientist and inventor. He has the powers of Capricorn and Keys.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: While most of Salem's Faction are more moral then their canon counterparts he is actually considerably worse and considering in canon he was prepared to let a whole city freeze to death that's saying something.
  • Archenemy: To Penny. Watts killed Penny's father/creator Pietro and she clearly despises him.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The most cruel of Salem's Faction and arguably the biggest winner of the Atlas Arc. Watts gets everything he wanted. He got to personally kill the two men he hated most in the world; Pietro and Ironwood, as well as use the later's corpse as a puppet and became Atlas's new head scientist along with gaining access to all of Pietro's work on aura transference. His only setback was Penny managing to spring Weiss. Still on the whole he is very content with his current situation.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Salem's faction consists of mostly well intentioned people who are prepared to do morally questionable things to save Remnant with even Tyrian having heroic moment when he rescues Blake's parents. Watts on the other hand is as nasty, selfish and petty as ever with Summer regarding him as a necessary evil due to his technical skills being essential to Salem's plans.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Probably the weakest of the Gates as his powers are more about summoning others to fight for him (though he does get Keys ability to turn into Bane Particles). That being said he is still a Gate and it's noted in the story that he could have killed all the Ace Ops himself and Penny admitted she couldn't beat him alone.
    Sienna Khan
The Gate of the Heavenly Scales. The leader of the White Fang who has been persuaded to join Salem believing that a better future for the Faunus lies with her. She has the powers of Libra and Jiemma.
  • Broken Pedestal: For Blake. Bit of a downplayed example as Blake doesn't hate her and the two are capable of having a civil conversation but she no longer idolizes her anymore.
  • Gravity Master: Joining with Libra gives her this. In addition to making people heavier she can also make herself lighter and can fly.
  • Honorary Aunt: Is this to Blake and despite her deserting the White Fang Sienna still cares for her
  • Spared By Adaptation: Hazel saves her from Adam which is the catalyst for her being willing to hear Salem's Faction out and eventually joining them.
  • Weak, but Skilled: As she hasn't yet fully mastered her Gate powers she is this and she can't even access her Eclipse Etherious Form. Once she has been fully trained however she is very likely to become Strong and Skilled.
    Happy
An Exceed companion and best friend of Natsu. After being poisoned with Bane Particles by the White Witch he and Natsu were saved by Salem which required turning him into a demon.
  • Determinator: How he manages to survive being turned into a demon. He was just that determined to stay alive for Natsu.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In the Fairy Tail Manga Happy isn't a fighter. Here however after becoming a Demon and having 50 years to train, he is probably stronger then Panther Lily

Cinder's Group

A team formed by Cinder in her plan to get the Fall Maiden Powers and who in the aftermath of the Grimmlands battle decide to betray Salem's Faction and take the world for themselves.
    In General
  • Dark and Troubled Past: All three of them have this.
  • Take Over the World: They like Salem's Faction seek this though their motives are vastly different. Salem and her followers seek to conquer Remnant in order to save it from the Umbral Spirit King and make it a better place. Cinder and her friends want to take it over because they think its the only way they will be safe.
  • Villainous Underdog: They are by far the weakest of the three factions. They only have 3 members and none of them rank among the top 5 strongest beings on Remnant. What's more they all have pretty poor track records. Cinder has lost almost all her fights, Mercury has lost all his fights and Emerald has only had one fight against Nora and Loke which ended without a winner.
    Cinder Fall
The Gate of the Archer. The adopted daughter of Summer Rose, Cinder is responsible for the Fall of Beacon and is determined to acquire as much power as she possibly can. Her true identity is Ella Autumn the daughter of the prominent Mistral Council Member Benjamin Autumn who is believed to have been killed. She has the power of Kyoka and Saggitarious.
  • Archenemy: For Pyrrha. Cinder dealt Pyrrha a Curb-Stomp Battle at Beacon and made the champion feel helpless for the first time. Pyrrha trained in magic for the sole purpose of defeating her and the two have clashed on multiple occasions. Cinder for her part has little to no interest in Pyrrha and considers her a nuisance at worst. Her real archenemies as far as Cinder is concerned are the Tremaines and Weiss who she hates passionately.
  • Adaptational Badass: In addition to her Gate powers she also has Silver Eyes like Ruby in this universe.
  • Broken Ace: Cinder is a very powerful combatant who has overpowered Pyrrha on multiple occasions, killed Ozpin with just her Maiden powers, and almost killed the far more experienced Erza by herself. She also is shown to be quite clever and is an adept tactician. However at her heart she is still the traumatized girl who in one night lost her father and all her friends.
  • Not Me This Time: Most of the problems Salem's Faction face in the first half of the story are due in some way to Cinder. As such when Jaune/Ren destroys Castle Evernight Salem and Sienna both assume that Cinder is at fault. In reality Cinder was doing exactly as she was told and the blame really lies with Gray, Nora, and Ren.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: While a bit spoiled Ella Autumn was a very kind child who despite being a high class girl growing up in the rampantly racist Kingdom of Mistral befriended multiple Faunus.
    Mercury Black
The Gate of the Paired Fish. The son of the assassin Marcus Black Mercury killed his abusive parent before joining Cinder and Emerald. He has the power of Pisces and Torafuzar.
  • Butt-Monkey: Things never seem to work out for Mercury. He loses his fight with Yang once she whips out her magic. While he does much better during their rematch at Haven, in the end he gets his head blown off by Ren and spends some time in the Void which is very traumatic. And then Gray freezes him in ice during the Grimmlands battle in a Curb-Stomp Battle.
  • Foil: To Yang. Yang was a huge believer in the Power of Friendship while Mercury was disdainful of the very idea. However Yang's experiences have caused her to give up on friendship while Mercury's have caused him to be more open to the idea.
  • Making a Splash: Both his curse and his magic are water related.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: Has very little interest in Salem's cause. He followed her because Salem was stronger then him, gave him power, and treated him pretty well. He joins Cinder because she convinces him that Salem will eventually turn on them.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Though he suffers a gruesome death and return, at bare minimum he gets to come back in a body with restored legs, which is almost enough to reduce him to tears at being able to feel there again.
    Emerald Sustrai
The Gate of the Twins. Emerald was a thief living in the streets of Vale before being recruited by Cinder into Salem's Faction. She has the power of Gemini and Lamy.
  • Only Sane Man: Is the only member of Cinder's group without any serious mental baggage. Unlike her two companions Emerald doesn't let anger, pride, or trauma control her actions. She is also the member who points out just how ridiculously outmatched they are by Salem and End.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Besides Watts she is the weakest of the Gates. Her curse is probably the weakest and while her copy magic is potentially extremely powerful it requires the aura of the person who's power she is copying to be deactivated. She does have a very powerful Semblance though and she later becomes the Fall Maiden giving her a significant power boost.

Others

    Ozpin/Oscar
The Headmaster of Beacon Academy. Ozpin is a reincarnating wizard who has been battling Salem for eons and seeks to keep her from obtaining the Relics, 4 extremely powerful objects created by the God of Light. His first identity was Ozma a legendary wizard from Earthland. Oscar Pine a farm boy from Mistral is the latest host for Ozpin and has had to abandon his peaceful life for the sake of the world.
  • Adaptational Villainy: While Ozpin is not a villain his actions are far more morally dubious and his lies much more severe. He is not only lying about Salem's immortality like in canon but he has been deceiving his followers into thinking that Salem is a Grimm monster who seeks to destroy mankind. In additional it is implied that one of the reasons that Ozpin raised Atlas with the Relic of Creation was to prevent Salem from removing it as that would cause the city to collapse on Mantle. In other words he is using the the people of Mantle as human shields. Cinder also states that Ozpin was not above using torture and he also admits that if he thought the Schnee family Semblance could let the Umbral Spirit King into Remnant he would have killed Nicholas and Willow Schnee.
  • The Archmage: Ozma was one of the greatest wizards of all time who invented several lost magic's like the Arc of Time that Ultear used. He also created Aura and as such Semblances as well to serve as a replacement to magic.
  • Broken Pedestal: Ozpin is this to basically everyone who trusted him and learns the truth about his conflict with Salem and how it is far more grey then he presented it as.
  • Head-in-the-Sand Management: What Ozpin gets repeatedly called out on. He knows the Umbral Spirit King is coming and when he gets here Remnant is doomed. Salem has a solution which he (not without reason) thinks wont work but what is his? He doesn't have one other then vaguely stating that after Salem was defeated he would prepare for the Umbral Spirit King's arrival. This more then anything is why so many people prefer Salem over Ozpin since she at least has a plan to save humanity.
  • Metaphorically True: When Qrow furiously calls Ozpin out lying about Salem's goals he weakly tries to justify himself with this stating that Salem's goals will result in the Remnant's annihilation even if she doesn't believe/intend for that to happen. Nobody is impressed and he drops the argument soon afterward.
  • Old Friend: Ozpin is this to Loke. Ozma's parents were gifted Celestial Spirit Mages and through them he got to know Loke very well. The two reunite in Remnant much to Ozpin's joy.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Oscar is this, he doesn't have much raw power but under Ozpin's tutelage is quite skilled at using it in the most effective manner.
    Irene Belserion
The Queen of the Dragons, creator of Dragon Slayer magic and mother of Erza. Irene as a member of the Spriggan 12 battled Erza and Wendy and while victorious ultimately chose to commit suicide. Despite that her spirit remained attached to Wendy and currently advises her on magic and other matters.
  • The Ace: One of the most powerful and talented magic wielders to ever live whose combat abilities put her daughters to shame. Even Salem an incredibly powerful sorceress respects Irene's skills. Were she to manifest physically the only ones stronger then her on Remnant would be End and Salem.
  • Always Someone Better: Serves as this to Erza and Wendy. Erza is one of Fairy Tail's most powerful members but she ultimately can't measure up to her mother. Irene is capable of beating Erza in a physical fight despite not even preferring to fight that way and while Wendy is a talented enchanter Irene makes her look like an amateur in comparison.
  • The Archmage: One of the greatest wizards to ever live who repeatedly demonstrates vast knowledge of magic and created the extremely powerful Dragon Slayer form of Magic as well as Universe One the most powerful enchantment spell of all time. Even Salem herself an Archmage admires Irene's abilities.
  • Berserk Button: Apparently does not like it when people modify her spells without her permission judging by her outraged reaction to Salem modifying Universe One.
  • Easily Forgiven: Neither Wendy or Erza have any real hard feelings against her for what happened in the Alvarez War.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: Her loyalty to Fairy Tail is strictly personal. Both her daughter and granddaughter are with Fairy Tail and her first concern is them. Ideologically she's much more in line with Salem and she makes it clear that she would prefer if Erza, Pyrhha and Wendy were to join the Queen.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Show's a much kinder side to her personality and is more openly affectionate to both Erza and her granddaughter Pyrhha.
    The Tremaines
The Tremaines are a family of Atlas Intelligence agents who are later revealed to be the foster family of Cinder. They consist of Anna, Drizella and Eleanor Tremaine.
  • Abusive Parents: Eleanor was terribly abusive to Cinder putting her through grueling training and beating her whenever she didn't measure up.
    • Its implied that she subjected both Ana and Drizella to the same treatment.
  • Archenemy: Their this to Cinder who absolutely hates them and its made clear that she wants revenge.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Eleanor Tremaine is one of the nastiest characters in the story but she does seem to have genuinely loved her husband Benjamin Autumn and while she did intend to kill him it was only after begging him not to reveal the truth about Atlas's actions to the Mistral Council which would have started a war and led to the genocide of the faunus.
  • Expy: Of Lady Tremaine and her daughters from Cinderella. They even have the same names and are the abusive foster family of Cinder who is based off the title character.
  • Fatal Flaw: Neither of the Tremaine sisters are terrible people but their inability/unwillingness to stand up to their mother makes them accomplices to her actions.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: Eleanor loves Atlas more then her daughters or anything else and has done terrible things for her kingdom. The reason she joins Salem is because her victory would make Atlas the dominant kingdom of Remnant.
  • Oh, Crap!: Both Ana and Drizzella are terrified when they realize that Salem is coming to Atlas despite indirectly working for her.
  • Old Friend: Both Ana and Drizzella were on Winter's team back at Atlas Academy and Ana is shown to be close with her in the modern-day, having apparently broken from her mother to join the Specialist Corps (really serving as COMMAND ESR's agent in the Corps). Her reaction to learning the truth of their allegiance is very much Et Tu, Brute?. Notable in that Ana and Drizzella DID genuinely care about Winter, but the other woman understandably considers them Evil Former Friend.
  • Villain Has a Point: Eleanor is definitely a villain but she does make some good points.
    • Its hard not to side with her in her final argument with Benjamin where she points out the terrible consequences if he tells the council the truth which would include war and genocide.
    • While her shooting Adam was more about keeping him from talking then any threat she correctly points out that you don't pause in mid battle to cry about a criminal's childhood.
    • Eleanor points out the ridiculousness of Salem being both the master of the Grimm and wanting to wipe out mankind stating accurately that if that was what Salem was and wanted then mankind would have been wiped out long ago which she was completely correct about.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Eleanor has no problem physically abusing poor Cinder for years and Summer thought she would actually end up killing her.
    • Averted in regards to Anna, she does end up shooting one of Cinder's friends but she was only trying to shoot the weapon out of her hands and was horrified when she realized she killed her. Her heavy drinking is implied to be out of guilt for this.
    Leonardo Lionheart
The headmaster of Haven Academy Leo was at one point Ozpins closest friend and ally but after learning of Salem's immortality he joins the Queen serving as her informant and spy.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Leo here does not sell out the location of all of Mistrals huntsmen and huntresses to Salem leading to their deaths, however this is more due to Salem simply not wanting them dead. In addition part of his reason for joining Salem was to protect the students of Haven, which considering just how powerful Salem and her followers are is valid.
  • Butt-Monkey: One of the biggest in the story. He gets no respect from Salem or her followers (except from Summer) who regard him not as a member of their group but a useful lackey. He spends most of his time being bossed around by End or Happy gets decked by Yang as he escapes and is forgotten by End when he orders the retreat and would have been burnt alive in his school if Summer still didn't consider him an old friend.
  • Dirty Coward: He was always skittish as Qrow puts it, but learning that Salem is immortal causes these tendencies to go into overdrive and he ends up a pathetic coward who kowtows to anyone stronger then him.
  • Retired Badass: Was apparently a great huntsmen back in his day though age has caused him to settle into teaching.
  • Spared By Adaptation: Survives the Battle of Haven thanks to Summer getting him out of his burning school.
    The Gods
The creators of Earthland which later became Remnant as well the Celestial and Umbral Spirits. They are Ankh the god of Light and Seram the god of Darkness who are also known as The Brothers. At one point they fused together to form Ankhseram.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Seems to be a problem with Ankh. He tends not to really think of the long term problems his plans could have. This includes forming Ankhseram, making Salem immortal, and sending Ozma to sort out his and his brothers mess on Remnant.
  • Fatal Flaw: Loving your brother unconditionally usually would not be considered a flaw. Unfortunately for Ankh the brother he loves so much is a Psychopathic Manchild with the power to crack a planet.
  • Invincible Villain: The conflict between Salem and Ozpin is about whether they are this or not. Ozpin believes they cant be beaten under any circumstances. Salem doesn't deny their power but believes that with the right amount of planning and preparation they can be destroyed.
  • Not So Invincible After All: The fact that The Brothers genuinely feared that Zeref could overthrow them suggests that they aren't completely unbeatable.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Ankh is more sympathetic to Sitara's request to revive Ozma due to blaming himself for her being exiled from the Celestial Spirit World and even looks into a way of reviving him that wouldn't break the laws existence. He apparently didn't convey this to Sitara as she immediately went to Seram with her request and it all went downhill from there.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Seram. He is violent, spiteful, bad tampered, selfish and throws tantrums when things don't go exactly the way he wants them too. What makes this so terrifying is how powerful he is and what he is capable of during those tantrums.
  • World's Strongest Man: Ankseram was the most powerful being in the whole universe. Even The Brothers are weaker then he was.
    The Umbral Spirit King
The King of Grimm and the dark counterpart of the Celestial Spirit King. He has been sending his people the Umbral Spirits to Remnant for eons in order to punish humans and Salem for daring to rebel against The Brothers.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: The King of the Umbral Spirits and vastly more powerful then any of them. He is probably tied with the Celestial Spirit King as the second most powerful being in the Universe just behind The Brothers.
  • Bad Boss: Seems to have no reservations about turning his people into almost mindless monsters in order to punish humanity.
  • The Dragon: To Seram and Anhkseram. Unlike the Celestial Spirit King, the Umbral Spirit King happily follows Ankseram's orders and even seems to relish the chance to kill Sitara and has been torturing both humanity and Salem for eons at Seram's command.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He is the greatest threat to all of Remnant.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Seram. He is shown to be completely loyal to his creator and follows his orders to the letter.
