Fridge Brilliance
- In chapter 32 Robyn asks Esper very convenient questions. Honest answers made her look innocent and trustworthy. It was ridiculously lucky but after a moment Clover joined them in the room so it is obvious that he was near. We also saw that his semblance has his well-being as the main focus (car stuck in traffic and scroll malfunctioning). If Robyn had learned that Esper was involved she would react violently and Clover would most likely see this. Escape from a Gate is very unlikely in such a situation and she would have to take care of witnesses for the plan to work. In short, if Robyn had not asked such convenient questions Clover would face a life sentence or worse so his semblance unknowingly helped both him and Esper.
- In chapter 71, End reveals that Natsu is in the exact same position he was in. Able to see, hear, smell, and feel everything but unable to do anything at all. This is pretty bad on its own, especially when you consider he's been stuck there for fifty years. But let's stop and think about the state Erza was in after End's final attack. She was nearly burned alive. Natsu was forced to watch as End nearly killed Erza, his older sister figure, the person he always looked up to as a strong, near-invincible warrior. And he was unable to do anything but watch.
