The Rainbooms

Sunset Shimmer and the human counterparts to the Mane Seven

    Sunset Shimmer
Princess Celestia's former student who later becomes a permanent resident in an alternate world to Equestria.
  • Alone Among the Couples: Is currently the only member of the Rainbooms who isn't a relationship with or has Ship Tease with anyone.
  • Amicable Exes: With Human Lightning Blitz during Friendship Games.
  • The Atoner: Just like in canon, after her Heel–Face Turn, she tried to turn over a new leaf.
  • Easily Forgiven: She meets Human Lightning Blitz in ‘’Friendship Games''. To her surprise, he forgives her for getting him expelled from CHS, saying that it gave him a chance to rethink his life to better himself.
  • Forceful Kiss: She gives one to Flash when he confronts her, and mocks him over stealing his First Kiss.
  • Frame-Up: She planted some contraband in Lightning Blitz's locker, who she was dating at the time. Although it wasn't anything illegal it was enough to get him expelled since he was already on his very last chance.
  • Groin Attack: After her Forceful Kiss on Flash, she kneed him in the lower regions, then struck him again after he told her she won’t catch him off guard again.
  • Shipper on Deck: She was supportive of Flash tying the knot with Twilight during their second visit to the human world.
  • "Take That!" Kiss: She mockingly steals Flash's First Kiss when he confronts her and mocks him over it, asking him he wants another one before kneeing him in the groin when he turns her down.
  • Villainous Crush: Downplayed. She only flirted with Flash just so that she could mock him and steal his First Kiss.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Non-fatal example. She was dating Lightning Blitz for awhile when he was attending CHS, but she got him expelled by planting contraband in his locker. In her own words, "her old boy toy was misbehaving and she had to throw it away".

    Human Flash Sentry
The human version of Flash Sentry.
  • The Ace: ZigZagged. It is said that he has helped several of the teams at Crystal Prep when they needed him to substitute for a member, and was the reason the team won every game he helped with. Though he never joined a club or team full-time because he thought it would distract him from helping Sci-Twi. However, it is also mentioned that his grades are below Crystal Prep's standards, so he's not skilled in every aspect of life.
  • Adaptational Badass: In canon the Human Flash had no magic at all, while here he obtains magic during the Friendship Games due to the portal mistaking him for the Pony Flash, and later gets a taste of the Sacred Light from his pony counterpart.
  • Badass Biker: He ends up replacing Indigo Zap's place for the second round of the friendship games, and drives a mototcross.
  • Cool Car: "Let's Rev It Up" has him repair a car he finds in Rusty's Junkyard, making it good as new and resembling his car from canon. He also demonstrates that thanks to Sci-Twi's help he is able to use his own magic on it to make it go even faster.
  • Crazy-Prepared: After he snaps a photo of Sci-Twi dressed as Masked Matterhorn, he shows it to his friends but refuses to send it to any of them, to make sure it doesn't spread around the school and risk Sci-Twi breaking up with him. Later, Sci-Twi steals his phone to delate the photo herself, but unknown to her Flash had already backed it up to his computer.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He shows to be one just like her pony counterpart. Unlike Sci-Twi, who just takes the abuse she receives from the Shadowbolts, Flash engages in a lot of Snark-to-Snark Combat with the Shadowbolts.
  • Death Glare: He shoots several of these at Timber Spruce when he sees him and Sci-Twi together, or when he interrupts the two of them.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Though he denies it, he ultimately has trouble finding a reason in life beyond "helping protect Sci-Twi".
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He makes a brief cameo appearance in the final scene of Rainbow Rocks along with Six-Twi and the human versions of Lightning Blitz and Ruby Scarlet.
  • First-Person Smartass: His narration throughout "Substitute" has him snarking in private, especially towards Cold Steel.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He quickly becomes jealous when he sees Timber flirting with Sci-Twi at Camp Everfree, though he denies having any feelings for her himself.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Similar to the Rainbooms, he struggles to control his new magic at Camp Everfree for awhile, and distances himself from everyone until he can figure it out. Once he learns to embrace his powers though, he quickly learns how to properly control them and use them properly.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: He decides if Sci-Twi wants to be with Timber he won't do anything to interfere with it, as long as he makes her happy. But still gives Timber a warning what will happen if he breaks her heart.
  • If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: He warns Timber Spruce that he better not be messing with Sci-Twi's feelings, because if he ever breaks her heart he'll be on him like that, and snaps his fingers, shooting lightning a Timber.
  • Important Haircut: His haircut in "Room to Grow" symbolizes him growing out of his old, immature self as he begins to focus more on what he wants to do after high school and enter the adult world.
  • Insecure Love Interest: He is too afraid to admit he has any feelings for Sci-Twi, believing he doesn't have anything to offer her, especially when compared to his pony counterpart who is practically a superhero.
  • Mundane Utility: In "Let's Rev It Up" he uses his magic to disassemble cars much faster than normal.
  • O.C. Stand-in: In canon, the human version of Flash Sentry has little screen-time and personality beyond being a Nice Guy. Here, he gets an expanded role in the story and a closer relationship to Sci-Twi.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He gives one to the Shadowbolts for stealing Rarity's idea in "Dance Magic".
Flash: You know, I never liked how you always belittled others and flaunted your achievements over them, but I at least respected that you actually earned those achievements. Crystal Prep's always stating it's the best. But now I'm starting to wonder just how much of that is true. I'm glad I left this place.
  • Ship Tease: Has several moments with Sci-Twi.
  • Shutting Up Now: In Legend of Everfree, after Vice-Principal Luna voiced how she thought their camp gift of a sundial was impractical since it can't be used at night, Flash said that he thought campers weren't allowed to wonder around at night anyway. When Luna just shoots a Death Glare at him, he immediately says "Shutting up now."
  • Sixth Ranger: Similar to how Sci-Twi becomes the newest Rainboom like in canon, he joins the Royal Knights as their permanent guitarist.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He eventually realizes that all his attempts to protect Sci-Twi over the years by acting as her "bodyguard" ultimately made her rely too much on him and he was fighting her battles for her instead of helping her fight them herself.

    Sci-Twi
The human version of Twilight Sparkle.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Discussed when Flash realizes that because he has been focusing all his time on protecting her over the years, she started to rely too much on him instead of fighting her own battles.
  • Get Out!: She yells at Timber to leave her tent after he says that Flash is dangerous for her to be around, implying Flash should be locked away from others.
  • Love Triangle: She finds herself in one with Flash Sentry and Timber Spruce in Legend of Everfree. She develops a crush on Timber shortly after arriving on camp, but eventually discovers that Flash has feelings for her. She eventually loses interest in Timber after he ends up insulting Flash to her face.
  • Ship Sinking: She quickly loses interest in Timber Spruce after he calls Flash dangerous for everyone to be around, and doesn't deny it when Sci-Twi says he sounds like he is saying Flash should be locked away.
  • We Can Rule Together: When she is corrupted into Midnight Sparkle she offers Human Flash to come through the portal with her and have just as much magic as her.

    Human Applejack
The human counterpart to Applejack.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: She comments that she likes Flash's new hairstyle over his old one, which mirrors the author's own disdain of the haircut.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Applejack usually remembers everything involved with clubs, but can't recall anything about Wallflower's gardening club, highlighting just how lonely and invisible she is to her peers.

    Human Pinkie Pie
The human counterpart to Pinkie Pie.

    Human Rainbow Dash
The human counterpart to Rainbow Dash.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Rainbow eagerly agrees to The Bet that Soarin proposes to her, where the two of them can see who between them can score the most goals in the match between the Wondercolts and Wonderbolts, and the loser buys the winner whatever they want for dinner at the restaurant of the winner's choice. Rainbow wins the bet, despite losing the game, but as Rarity points out when Rainbow tells all her friends this essentially means that Rainbow now has a date with Soarin.
  • Shameless Self-Promoter: Whereas the other Rainbooms are a bit shy about the attention of their new superpowers, Rainbow really loves to show them off and awe the other students.
  • Shipper on Deck: In the first movie adaptation, Twilight insinuates that she just views Flash as a best friend. Rainbow doesn't buy it and sends a knowing glance to the rest of the Mane Six.
  • Sore Loser: Rainbow doesn't react well when she loses a race against Flash's car, though, to be fair, Flash used his magic to cheat because the rules never said Equestrian magic couldn't be used.

    Human Fluttershy
The human counterpart to Fluttershy.
  • Animal Lover: Fitting her personality, she is instantly adored to Springer when Flash presents him to the others.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Along with Iron, Fluttershy plays a leading role in the subplot of the Friendships and Romance two-parter.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Even though she adores animals, she is not content to have them indulge over treats and urges Spike to continue his moderate eating after his diet is complete.

    Human Rarity
The human counterpart to Rarity.
  • Neat Freak: Rarity refuses to get on the field for Flash's automobile race because she doesn't want to get dirty, so Sci-Twi uses her magic to levitate her to a branch and allow her to spectate.
  • Shipper on Deck: According to Sci-Twi, Rarity is the biggest supporter behind her and Flash's relationship, only beaten in this department by Cadence.
  • Ship Tease: She gets some with Human Lightning Blitz. Rarity thanks him when his decision to not help the Shadowbolts with their song ultimately resulted in both groups working together and splitting the prize, with her dragging him along to celebrate with them before he can protest.

Equestria Girls Supporting Cast

The human versions of the supporting cast from Equestria.

    The Royal Knights
The human counterparts of Iron Core, First Aid, and Heather Bloom, who make up the titular band.
  • Berserk Button: Don't diss Metal music in front of Iron Core.
  • Composite Character: They take the role that the Human Flash's canon band, Flash Drive, had in canon of supporting Princess Twilight and falling under the Dazzling's spell, since Human Flash was absent until Friendship Games and his canon bandmates, Brawly and Ringo, have been Adapted Out.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Along with Fluttershy, Iron plays a leading role in the subplot of the Friendships and Romance two-parter.
  • Happily Adopted: The human version of Iron Core has the human Skybreaker as his foster father, rather than just his mentor.
  • Insane Troll Logic: In Rainbow Rocks when Flash tries to get through to them that they have fallen under the Sirens’ spell, they dismiss the idea, saying they would probably know if they were hexed. Flash points out that they wouldn't because that is the whole point of being hexed in the first place.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Iron Core. Upon first bumping into Flash, he acts coarsely to him and generally maintains a cold front. However, he is much nicer to his friends and is generally not hostile like the other antagonists to Canterlot High.
  • Legacy Character: The Royal Knights currently attending Canterlot High were not its first members. When the school first opened, different students created the band and played in it, until they graduated and disbanded it. Iron, First, Heather, and Lightning revived the band and the first three members still play in it. Human Flash eventually joins them as a permanent replacement for Lightning after he transfers to CHS.
  • Nice Guy: Girl in Heather's case. Unlike Iron Core, both First Aid and Heather Bloom act amicably with Flash and only ever act abrasively to him when they are under the influence of the Dazzlings.
  • Only Sane Man: When Flash shows off his new car to everyone in "Let's Rev It Up" and wants a race with everyone else's vehicle's to test it out, First Aid is the only one participating who isn't focused solely on winning and suggests everyone just be safe so Flash's brand new car isn't accidentally wrecked.
  • Shipper on Deck: Heather says she already thought that the pony versions of Flash and Twilight were a cute couple, but thinks that Human Flash and Sci-Twi are even more cute together. She and the rest of the Royal Knights try to get Flash to acknowledge his feelings for Sci-Twi during Legend of Everfree.
  • Sore Loser:
    • They all are this in Rainbow Rocks after they lose in the semi-finals of The Battle of the Bands to The Dazzlings, blaming Flash for it. Though this is justified since they, like most others in the school, were under the influence of their Hate Plague.
    • When Iron Core loses the race in "Let's Rev It Up" to Flash's new car, his first reaction is to angrily accuse Flash of cheating. But, as Flash pointed out, there was no rule saying he couldn't use magic.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Justified in Rainbow Rocks. Like the rest of the school, they came under the influence of the Dazzlings, which caused them to act much more hostile to Flash.

    Human Grand Hoof
The human counterpart of Grand Hoof, who works as a janitor in Canterlot High.
  • Accidental Hero: When Flash, the Royal Knights, and Lightning Blitz's group get locked in a room by Cinch, he unlocks the door for them when he hears the commotion they make, unaware that this would enable Flash to save the school from Midnight Sparkle.
  • Almighty Janitor: Quite literally. He was one of the original Royal Knights and joined the police force after he graduated. He retired a few years ago and became the janitor for CHS to have something to do.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: In Rainbow Rocks, he manages to avoid the Hate Plague the Dazzlings cause for most of the story thanks to his earplugs, but they eventually get control over him when he takes them out for a moment. They force him to attack Flash to stop him from interfering.
  • Cool Old Guy: Like his pony counterpart, he's one of the oldest characters in the series and is always calm and collected.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: When he finds evidence that Flash and Twilight didn't ruin the upcoming Fall Formal dance, he presents it to Vice Principal Luna, saving them from getting blacklisted.

    Human Trixie
The human counterpart to Trixie, who is a fellow student/rival to the Rainbooms at Canterlot High.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Whereas her main-universe counterpart only put up an egotistical facade to hide her insecurities, the narcissism of her human counterpart appears to be genuine. However, after helping Sunset restore the memories of her friends, it is implied that she's going to be friendlier to other people.
  • Compressed Adaptation: The scene of her appealing to Rarity to add "The Greatest and Most Powerfulest" superlative was combined with the scene of her raising suspicion that Sunset hasn't truly reformed.

    Human Lightning Blitz's Clique
The human counterpart of Lightning Blitz, who was expelled from CHS and now goes to Crystal Prep. However, he made friends with the human counterparts of Solid Script, Gorgenia, and Wild Smile.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Lightning receives more individual focus in "Dance Magic," initially writing the song of the Shadowbolts before resigning in protest to their cheating.
  • Accidental Hero: Lightning's decision to revoke his help to the Shadowbolts in "Dance Magic" ended up ultimately benefitting both CHS and CPA, since it forced The Rainbooms and Shadowbolts to work together to win the contest and split the money.
  • Amicable Exes: Lightning with Sunset Shimmer during Friendship Games.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Like the rest of the students at Crystal Prep, they go against Cinch and deny having witnessed anything magical at CHS during the Friendship Games, resulting in Cinch's claims sounding even crazier to the school board and resulting in her being forced to step down from her position.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Lightning makes a brief cameo in the final scene of Rainbow Rocks, along with Sci-Twi and the human versions of Flash and Ruby.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Lightning initially agrees to help the Shadowbolts with their music video concept by making an original song for them to use with their dancing. After he finds out they stole the idea from Rarity though, he withdraws his help, refusing to help them win by cheating, even if he risks becoming an outcast in the school for it being his fault they can't afford to have their school dance on a yacht.
  • Heroic Bystander: They save the other students from falling into Equestria once Midnight Sparkle unleashes her power.
  • Humble Pie: Lightning was described as being a bit of a jerk during his time a CHS, and didn't listen to his friends about staying away from Sunset. Then Sunset ends up getting him expelled due to him being on his last warning. This made him rethink his choices in life, and helped him realize that he wasn't acting like the kind of person he wanted to be.
  • I Choose to Stay: Lightning was offered the chance to come back to CHS after Sunset confesses how she got him expelled, but he declines due to having gotten use to his new school. He is once again offered the chance to return at the end of Friendship Games when Sci-Twi and Human Flash transfer to CHS, but once again chooses to stay at CPA, wanting to help make sure it becomes a better place.
  • Nice Guy: Unlike their Equestrian counterparts, Lightning's friends are all this from the get-go, as none of them hold any animosity to others. Even Lightning Blitz transitions to this after he's expelled from Canterlot High and even so, he still never strained his relationship with Grand Hoof to the same extent as his Equestrian counterpart.
  • O.C. Stand-in: They replace some of the Crystal Prep students in the Friendship Games. A more specific example is during the baking competition, where Gorgenia and Wild create the best Crystal Prep cake instead of Upper Crust and Suri Polomare.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Wild is the most light-hearted one of Lightning's friends, even joking about how Lightning once dated a horse (Sunset Shimmer).
  • Ship Tease: Lightning has some with Rarity at the end of "Dance Magic". After CHS and CPA win the contest, Rarity thanks him since his decision to reject helping the Shadowbolts resulted in them all needing to work together to win, and she drags him along to celebrate with them.
  • The Smart Guy: Out of all of Lightning's friends, Solid Script is generally the most analytical of them.
  • Token Good Teammate: They serve as this to the entire Crystal Prep team, being the only ones to not mistreat Flash and Sci-Twi, as well as enthusiastically clapping for Sci-Twi's victory in the academic portion of the Friendship Games and acting friendly to their opponents.

    Human Ruby Scarlet
The human counterpart to Ruby Scarlet, who servers as a guidance counselor in Crystal Prep.
  • Best Friend: She's been friends with Luna since they were roommates in college.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Much like her pony counterpart, she enjoys going out with Luna to drink and it's implied that the drinking leads to the same disastrous results.
  • Ignored Expert: Human Flash never listens to her advice about joining a club or extracurricular activity to find a purpose in life beyond helping Sci-Twi. When he transfers to CHS at the end of Friendship Games he is initially excited to finally have her off his back, before she claims she is going to keep in contact with the school to make sure he doesn't fall back into his old habits.
  • I'm Standing Right Here: When Flash decides to attend Canterlot High, he celebrates that Ruby won't nag on him anymore. Unfortunately for him, Ruby was right there to witness this, so she jokingly warns him that she'll be in contact with Canterlot's guidance counselor and Sci-Twi to ensure that he doesn't fall back into his old habits.
  • The Mentor: She serves as this to Human Flash.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Unlike Cinch, she never abuses the Crystal Prep students and she implores Flash to take one extracurricular activity to use his skills to the fullest.
  • They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!: During school hours, she insists that Flash call her "Counselor Scarlet", even though they knew each other prior to his attendance in Crystal Prep.

    Human Cold Steel
The human counterpart to Cold Steel, who becomes a substitute teacher at Canterlot High.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: At one point, Cold asks Flash what career prospects he wants to pursue after high school to point out that his lackluster academic performance isn't a viable lifestyle. Flash is unable to answer this.
  • Brutal Honesty: Cold flat out tells Flash that he can improve as a student and puts him through rigorous academic work and tests to push him into studying harder.
  • Hey, You!: He doesn't even addresses Snips' name when he calls him out for sticking gum under his desk.
  • Hope Spot: Cranky Doodle resumes his job before Cold can give Flash his final exam, making it seem like Flash can relax again. Unfortunately, Cold just visits the Sparkle household on the weekend so that he can deliver the exam there.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While it's a message delivered without much tact, Cold is right that Flash shouldn't be happy about barely passing his classes and that he has the potential to do better.
  • Stern Teacher: Cold is a strict substitute who forces Flash to attend tutoring sessions with him and really goes out of his way to test him, but he is sincerely trying to turn him into a better student.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Cold is no-nonsense and an incredibly strict teacher on Flash, but only because he sees untapped potential in him that he believes can be unlocked if he's pushed to his academic limits.

Human Fire Heart and Shining Soul
The human counterparts to Fire Heart and Shining Soul, who were new students to Canterlot High.
  • Don't Split Us Up: Their parents died when they were still young and were bounced around the foster care system with little luck. This is what makes it so vital that they settle nicely with Flash and Sci-Twi so that they don't end up back in the care system and separated.
  • Noodle Incident: The two had to move to Canterlot High because Heart was framed for a cherry bomb prank by an unnamed bully and got him expelled, but it's only mentioned in dialogue.

    Human Soarin Skies
The human counterpart to Soarin Skies, who is the captain of the Cloudsdale Wonderbolts soccer team.
  • Badass Normal: He shows that he can easily keep up with Rainbow Dash during their soccer match, and has better agility than her, blocking her off from her team for almost the entire game.
  • Lovable Jock: He's a soccer player for his school, but is a very Nice Guy that chats with Rainbow Dash before and after their match.

Equestria Girls Animals

The animal versions of characters from Equestria.

    Dog Spike
The dog version of Spike.
  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: "Substitute" shows that since he obtained human level intelligence and the ability to talk, he also got a major boost to his ego. He no longer considers his old dog food that he always enjoyed before good enough for him and wants to sit at the dinner table with everyone else and eat the same food as them. This eventually leads to him getting overweight and needing to be put on a diet by Twilight's family, to his immense displeasure.
  • Arch-Enemy: Humorously, Spike makes enemies with a squirrel, forcing Fluttershy to intervene and resolve the conflict.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: He insists that he is in perfect health and not overweight, only to end up getting stuck in the doogy door he has used hundreds of times before until Springer pushes him through.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Sci-Twi gets Spike to flash these on Flash to pressure him into giving her back her energy-tracker device.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Before the final Friendship Games event, Spike locates Flash under Sci-Twi's request to see if he was okay. Unfortunately, Cinch followed after Spike, hoping to find Twilight and, upon finding Flash and several of his friends in the music room to ensure that they don't interfere with her plans to use Sci-Twi's powers in the game.

    Dog Springer
The dog version of Springer.
  • From Stray to Pet: He starts out as a stray roaming Rusty's junkyard, and snatches a part Flash was looking for since he just wanted some attention. He ends up befriending Flash by helping him build his new car, and Flash ends up adopting him as his pet.
  • Intellectual Animal: He shows he is very smart, able to recognize and find all the parts Flash needs to build his car, and quickly responds to commands from Flash, including nonverbal ones like whistling.
  • Meaningful Name: Flash names him "Springer" after adopting him because he noticed he had amazing jumping skills.
  • The Nose Knows: Springer has a very good sense of smell, which he uses to locate parts for Flash to make his car.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Springer uses this to win the affection of the Rainbooms.
  • Undying Loyalty: Given he is a dog in the human world, it is fitting he has this for Flash. Shortly after the two meet, Springer does everything he can to help Flash build his car, eventually resulting in Flash adopting him as his pet. This is later taken to the next level during "Forgotten Friendship", when even when Springer has all of his memories of Flash erased but can still tell that something is missing without him and is left saddened when he enters Flash's room and he isn't there.

Equestria Girls Original Characters

Characters who have only appeared in the human world.

    Rusty Wreckage
The owner of a junkyard who helps Flash build his own car.
  • Cool Old Guy: He's far older than both Flash and Shining Armor, but he is very helpful in locating parts for Flash to build his car with.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: While Flash works at his junkyard, Rusty's shown to be a very reasonable, laidback boss who forms a friendly relationship with him.
  • Noodle Incident: According to Shining Armor, he first met Rusty when drove off several punks who were trespassing on his property and harassing him.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He's a fairly minor character, but his deal with Flash to come to his junkyard and help him out is what started the first meeting between Flash and Springer.

Equestria Girls Antagonists

Villains that are present in the human world. See above for Sunset Shimmer.

    The Dazzlings
Three sirens that were banished to the human world by Starswirl the Bearded long ago.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Adagio is either indifferent or frustrated with her sisters in canon. Here, Adagio expresses a bit more care for them, such as when she genuinely considers Sonata's crush on Flash.
  • Cool Big Sis: When Flash helps Sunset confront them in the hallway, Adagio invites Flash to hangout with them when they are done at CHS, simply because she knows that Sonata likes him.
  • Mind-Control Music: As per canon, they can use their singing to place their victims under their spell and spread their Hate Plague. Further use of it is also shown when they finally get control over Grand Hoof, and are able to control him into attacking Flash for them.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In canon, their relationship with one another was ambiguous. Here, just like many other fanfictions, they’re sisters.
  • Villainous Crush: Sonata develops a crush on Flash Sentry almost immediately after seeing him. She is visibly disappointed when he rejects Adagio's offer to hang out with them, but is quick to tease him over how he "missed out" by doing so and has no problem fighting him and his friends afterwards.

    Principal Abacus Cinch
The principal of Crystal Prep.
  • Adaptational Explanation: In canon, there was a single line from Sunny Flare in "Dance Magic" that Cadance had replaced Cinch as the new principal at Crystal Prep, but no explanation of how or why she did was given. In the first chapter of Legend of Everfree, it is explained here that Cinch tried to get the school board to shut down CHS, reporting how they were doing some kind of illegal student experimentation and Celestia and Luna were creating "magical super soldier students". She of course was not believed, and everyone present, including her own students, denied having witnessed anything magical, and this drove her insane. The school board then dismissed her and forced her to step down due to her "stress induced mental breakdown", and Cadance replaced her.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: She was already a horrible person in canon, but she actually manages to be even worse here. Instead of just blackmailing Sci-Twi by threatening to reject her application to the Everton program, she also says that if they should lose the Friendship Games then she will use it as an excuse to expel Human Flash Sentry. She later informs Flash of this condition too before the final competition, before locking him and his friends in the music room to stop them from interfering.
  • Hate Sink: She's even more detestable here. See the Adaptational Jerkass entry above.
  • I Will Punish Your Friend for Your Failure: Along with the same blackmail she used on Sci-Twi from canon, she also makes it clear that if Crystal Prep should lose the Friendship Games to CHS then she will use it as an excuse to get Human Flash expelled.
  • Villainous Breakdown: The first chapter of Legend of Everfree explains that she tried to get CHS shut down by reporting their magical activities to the school board, but her ramblings were dismissed by the school board, and Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Ruby, and every student at Crystal Prep denied seeing any magic during the Friendship Games, leading to Cinch going insane and screaming that it was all true.

    The Shadowbolts
Crystal Prep's top students and the competing team to Canterlot High during the Friendship Games.
  • Demoted to Extra: In this series, Indigo Zap failed to advance to the athletics part of the Friendship Games, in which she is replaced by Flash Sentry.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Just like in canon they help save the CHS students when Midnight Sparkle goes on a rampage. Later when Cinch tries to report CHS to the school board, they, like the rest of the students at Crystal Prep, turn against Cinch and deny having witnessed anything magical, making Cinch look even more insane until she is removed from her position.
  • Lack of Imagination: According to Human Flash, they don't have a single creative bone in their body. They were only able to come up with an idea for the Chance to Prance Competition by stealing Rarity's concept, and had to rely on Lightning Blitz for an original song they could use, leaving them dead in the water when he decided not to help them.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: They recruit Lightning Blitz to make an original song they can use for their music video, but after he finds out that they stole their idea from Rarity he backs out of their agreement, leaving them without an original song.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Not with each other, but with Flash Sentry and Sci-Twi. They act very elitist to the former and, as in canon, bully Sci-Twi for her underperformance during the athletics event of the Friendship Games. The feeling is especially reciprocated by Flash, who constantly berates them for their Jerkass behavior.
  • Token Good Teammate: Lemon Zest is the only one that doesn't get on Human Flash's case about the Friendship Games, and she is the only one in the group Flash would consider a friend, due to sharing the same taste in music.

    Gloriosa Daisy/Gaia Everfree
The director of Camp Everfree.
  • Adaptational Badass: She displays much more combat prowess in this adaptation, capable of fighting off and defeating a superpowered Flash Sentry.

    Timber Spruce
Gloriosa's brother and a rival to Flash Sentry
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Oh so much. While his canon self is a Nice Guy, this incarnation of him is a full-blown Jerkass, especially to Flash Sentry.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He acts like a cool guy in front of all the campers, but he is actually a pretty self-centered jerk. Not only does he come off as trying way too hard to look cool, he focuses a lot of attention trying to romance Sci-Twi, while ignoring Flash's presence. When Flash confronts him on his intentions, while the two don't know they are being watched, he openly mocks Flash, and later insults him to Sci-Twi's face while trying to get her to turn on him, saying he should be locked up. He later tells Sci-Twi he is fine with her being with Flash if that is what she wants, only to reveal to Gloriosa he doesn't believe a relationship will last with them and is just waiting to help Sci-Twi though their "break up".
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Despite being a jerk, he still cares about his sister, Gloriosa.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Subverted; in the final chapter of Legend of Everfree he tells Sci-Twi that he is okay with her being with Flash, saying he was too hard on him before and he did save his life. But once she leaves, he reveals to Gloriosa that he is just "out-humbling" Flash by being willing to give Sci-Twi up like he was, and believes a relationship between them won't last so he will swoop in and help Sci-Twi through their "break up".
  • Jerkass: When Flash offers to let Sci-Twi be with him, despite having a crush on her himself, Timber mocks Flash for being an Extreme Doormat. Later on, Timber tries to sever Sci-Twi's friendship with Flash, claiming that he tried to kill him with a bolt of lightning and crush him under a tree, even though it was clearly an accident and Flash saved him from the latter.
  • Pet the Dog: He still tries telling the camp story of Gaea Everfree to cover his sister's usage of magic.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Even when Flash saves his life from a falling tree he accidentally knocked over with his lightning, Timber doesn't bother thanking him, instead trying to frame Flash as a threat to Sci-Twi and implying that he should be locked up.

    Fox Shade
A fox version of Shade.
  • The Cameo: He's unnamed in his brief appearance, but his appearance is a dead ringer for Shade, if he were a normal fox.
  • Dirty Coward: He'll happily devour any creature smaller than himself, but once Flash reveals his lightning powers, Shade scurries away in a hurry.
  • Predators Are Mean: While a fox has to eat, Shade's menacing growls and appearance indicates that he's far more vicious than a predator should be.
  • Would Hurt a Child: In this case, a pup, as Shade corners Springer and tries to eat him.

    Juniper Montage
A teenage girl who tries sabotaging the production of a Daring Do movie to get the role herself.
  • Demoted to Extra: Since most of "Movie Magic" happened off-page in this series, Juniper's role was significantly reduced in that short.
  • Guilt by Association Gag: Already angry at the Mane Six for foiling her plot to become the star of the Daring Do movie, she extends this same grudge towards Flash, even though he wasn't on the set with the girls to stop her and is really only guilty of being friends with them. When all seven of them are sucked into her magical mirror, Juniper is not the least bit fazed by Flash's disappearance.

    Wallflower Blush
A shy student at Canterlot High who tries erasing everyone's memories about Sunset.
  • Adaptational Villainy: In addition to her canon crimes, she also tries locking Flash away when he reveals that he still remembers Sunset and uses the Memory Stone to erase everyone's memory about him too.
  • Apologetic Attacker: Wallflower apologies to Flash when she knocks him out with a frying pan and locks him in her basement.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Knocking Flash out, locking him in her basement, and removing everyone's memories of him was a spur of the moment action to try to keep her original plan on track. But she quickly realizes afterwards how deep she is in now, and that if word gets out she kidnapped Flash she could go to jail.
  • Frying Pan of Doom: She knocks out Flash from behind with a frying pan when she realizes he still has all his memories of Sunset being good.
  • Pet the Dog: While she does imprison Flash to ensure that her plan isn't foiled, she does give him the basic necessities and a puzzle book to keep him entertained.

    Vignette Valencia
Equestria Land's public relations officer who gets inadvertantly involved with dangerous Equestrian magic.
  • Informed Attribute: With Flash providing commentary on her actions, she comes off as even more pathetic with her Valley Girl attitude than in canon. In spite of how vain she is, Rarity talks about how amazing she is, which highlights how she's grabbing the Jerkass Ball under her influence.
  • Womanchild: With her spoiled attitude, Flash remarks that she behaves more immaturely than himself, despite being older.
