While I don't like to compare childhood trauma that way — it's not a contest — Giorno did benefit greatly from having a gangster looking out for him after he helped said gangster.
Disgusted, but not surprisedFirst the Josuke/Hol Horse spinoff, now there's a Jolyne one-shot?

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).How I personally see each character's alignment. (Though, if you disagree with any of these placements, feel free to tell me where and why)
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.
Of course Anjuro is Chaotic Evil. How evil do you have to be to be a rapist at age 12. More seriously I would argue Eisdisi is more Lawful Evil because he shows a clear loyalty and friendship to his boss, and a willingness to debase himself in a non Dirty Coward fashion to ensure the mission goes according to plan, which even Joseph respected to a degree.
I agree that Dio is Chaotic Evil, but not so much because of his incredibly dickery(but that is a good part of it) but willingness to disregard society and humanity in order to achieve his own ambitions. Part 6 reveals his ultimate goal is to change and disregard the nature of the universe for his vision, which is one of those rare introspective Chaotic Evil types.
I'd say Telence D'arby is chaotic evil. He's pretty much the same kind of person as Miyamoto except he tortures his victims by keeping them conscious and submissive to him.
Also I do find if amusing how Kakyoin is generally more lawful than Polnareff even though brainwashed Kakyoin harms innocent people out of sadism and uses them as hostages while brainwashed Polnareff chooses to fight in a place away from innocents, explicitly points out he's telling opponents his powers, and is so honourable even after defeat that Avdol spares him because of it
I'd make the argument that Valentine is either Neutral Evil or Lawful Evil, rather than True Neutral. The Evil is the more easily justified because he's willing to throw anyone and anything under the bus to get to his goal, and his goal of having the whole of America receive the Saint's blessing and 'taking the first napkin' effectively throws the rest of the world under the bus for the sake of America.
Now, now, whether he's Neutral vs. Lawful is a bit more complicated. I personally lean towards lawful because he's a patriot and inherently proud of his patriotism to the point where it's one of his defining features. He also definitely respects rules and hierarchies, because he wants to create one where America is at the top forever. That being said, he doesn't show much loyalty to anyone other than himself, and doesn't mind breaking rules and bones to get what he wants, regardless of whether it would be viewed as right or wrong, which puts him back more towards Neutrality than Lawfulness.
I'm pretty sure it was coincidental, but I find it funny how, in the English dub, the person who started the universe and the person who ended the universe are both voiced by people with Yong in their names.

I'm curious. If you had to give names to the Stands of Jonathan, Holy, the Natural Resource Worker, Holy J.K., SBRverse Joseph, and... whoever owned the Boiling Water Stand, what would your names be? These would be my picks.
β’Jonathan: Rhinestone Eyes
β’Holy: Comfortably Numb
β’Natural Resource Worker: Finger Eleven
β’Boiling Water: Creedence Clearwater
β’Holy J.K.: Calling Dr. Love
β’Joseph: No Line on the Horizon

- Avdol gives Jotaro's Stand a name
- Gwess says that "everything has a name"
- Jolyne responds by calling her Stand "
StandStone Free"
Any other notable examples of Stands being named?

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024)....Stand Free. :p Well, thinking about it, Jotaro named Crazy Diamond for Josuke in the manga, Kira said he named Killer Queen and Bites the Dust himself, Spice Girl gave itself its own name, Johnny named Tusk after the strength his nail has gotten, and Tooru named Wonder of U directly after the Elvis Presley song.
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.IIRC Demonic Heartbreak was advertised as the story of how Crazy Diamond gets named? We gotta wait for the next chapters to find out.
Now that I've finally gotten around to reading Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak, and being a reader of Purple Haze Feedback prior... I think I might like Kohei Kadono better as a JoJo writer than I do Araki. Like, hot damn, does Kadono know how to explore past plot threads and know how to explore characters' psyches. I thought Fugo's development in Purple Haze Feedback was amazing enough, but Demonic Heartbreak... I originally just saw Hol Horse as a run-of-the-mill Butt-Monkey and Mariah as hilarious, albeit not that deep, but the fact that they're now characterized as Shell-Shocked Veterans who DIO used insane Mind Rape on, building off of Hol Horse's one-shot attempt at betrayal, it adds so much more complexity to baddies that I otherwise didn't care that much about. It's brilliant. (And knowing what became of Pucci in Part 6, I can easily believe this development happening)

Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.Odd, I thought Jotaro ended up naming it near the start of DIU.
Secret SignatureI mean, yeah, Kadono isn't renowned as the guy who changed the light novel industry for nothing. It's honestly amusing to see him working on Jojo because he and Araki have very similar reputations in their respective fields.
I have no idea who the guy is but I do have Purple Wind Feedback in my Google Drive.
I guess I should take a look at these two books?
The latter one seems odd for being a Part 3/ Part 4 crossover between the disciples of Dio and Joseph's bastard son.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Kadono wrote Boogiepop which is basically the proto-light novel. I read the first LN in the series and honestly I liked it? It lacks a lot of the more eyeroll-worthy clichΓ©s and trappings of a lot of modern LN's and contrary to what you'd expect from the reputation of the series, it had a pretty straightforward and easy to understand story.

King Nothing is such a fantastic song and yet I feel like it was wasted on Norisuke, of all characters to receive such a badass song.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Personally, I think the reference that was the most wasted is Yo-Yo Ma. Why does a cellist as sweet, talented, and charitable as him have to be the inspiration behind a Stand as ugly, perverted, and impractical as this?

Contrasts I think I understand - like Wonder of U being used on one of the most horrifying Stands in the entire franchise. Though it is an oddity, that one.
How do you think Araki comes up with Stand abilities?
I read two interesting threads on that:
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I'm honestly curious. Do you think a Stand like Limp Bizkit will end up getting a Stand stat screen in the anime, or at least key art?

Random thought I just had: Both Enrico Pucci and All For One from MHA have ability-stealing as one of their main powers, but are otherwise fairly different characters. I wonder who would win if they ever fought? All For One steals and uses a lot more, and has more minions, but Whitesnake would be completely invisible to him since he has no Stand. So I guess if All For One let Pucci meet him (which is a big if), he could probably OHKO him. Maybe Pucci could try and ask for a Quirk and kill him right before getting one?
Speaking of, do you think Pucci's Whitesnake could take Quirks? He can take Stand Discs, Memory Discs, and...vision discs (if I'm remembering the Heavy Weather fight correctly), so if he were tossed into that world, I imagine he could probably do it?
Ironically, it feels like Giorno's the one member of Team Bucciarati (besides perhaps Trish) who had it the easiest in their backstory, even considering how abusive his parents were. Bucciarati's parents divorced and his father was murdered, Abbacchio caused his best friend to get killed, and the other three were arrested through no faults of their own (except maybe Fugo).
