This is the story of a boy and those who seek what they have lost.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 クレイジー・Dの悪霊的失恋 JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken: Kureijī Daiyamondo no Akuryō-teki Shitsuren) is a Spin-Off of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, based on the parts Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable, and is considered of dubious canonicity. Its first chapter was announced to be included in the January 2022 issue of Ultra Jump, and was released on December 18, 2021. A Light Novel adaptation titled Crazy Heartbreakers was released on June 19, 2023.

Along with the one-shot Fujiko's Bizarre Worldly Wisdom -Whitesnake's Miscalculation-, which released on the same date, this series is notable for being one of the very first JoJo manga spinoffs to not be illustrated by Hirohiko Araki — it was written by Kohei Kadono (also known for writing the Golden Wind spinoff light novel, Purple Haze Feedback), and illustrated by Tasuku Karasuma, author of No Guns Life.

The story begins in Cairo, March 1999; 10 years after the death of DIO, but before Josuke gets into school and meets Jotaro. It opens with Hol Horse, who was asked by an old woman to find a missing parrot who belonged to her son, who also trained the falcon Pet Shop before DIO killed him and confiscated the bird. Hol Horse agrees to help her find the parrot, but not before visiting his fellow comrades, all former servants of DIO, to discuss the impact DIO had left on them. Hol Horse and Boingo eventually find a lead to the far away town of Morioh, in Japan, where the former would cross paths with none other than Josuke Higashikata.

As this story is set after the events of Stardust Crusaders, all spoilers for Stardust Crusaders will be unmarked.

Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Expansion: The series explores the events of Stardust Crusaders and their aftermaths extensively, along with introducing backgrounds for a few Diamond is Unbreakable characters:
    • Hol Horse, Mariah, and other surviving members of DIO's henchmen have moved on and gone on their separate ways, although they were still stricken with guilt and trauma due to DIO's manipulations on them. Mariah and Kenny G. end up settling down together, with the Oingo Boingo brothers occasionally visiting their hideout. Kenny refuses to meet Hol Horse face-to-face for unknown reasons.
    • Noriaki Kakyoin's death in Egypt became a news sensation, with numerous news outlets and magazines speculating about his demise. The manga also introduces Kakyoin's cousin, Ryoko Kakyoin.
    • In Diamond is Unbreakable, Ryohei Higashikata (Josuke's grandfather) was never promoted despite his hard work as a police officer. Here, a police officer openly speculates that this was due to having an illegitimate grandson.
    • Hol Horse and Boingo bore witness to Kakyoin's final Emerald Splash while trying to flee on the streets of Cairo, meaning they were there during the final battle with DIO.
    • Boingo doesn't consider Thoth to actually be a Stand. He suspects Thoth to be a tome from the actual Egyptian god it's named after, and that it's such a Clingy MacGuffin because he's supposed to guard it. It's also implied in a brief flashback that Oingo and Boingo's father was an abusive alcoholic.
    • Chapters 12 shows how DIO recruited Daniel J. D'Arby into his group — by a poker match, of course. DIO used The World to counter D'Arby's attempt to cheat.
    • Chapter 13 reveals that after his soul is trapped by Atum, Noriaki Kakyoin saw a vision of Ryoko from 10 years in the future.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Josuke was already more harsh in the manga, but the unabridged story of the untranslated novel goes to incredible lengths to make him unsympathetic and unheroic. Not only was the true reason for his sensitivity over his hair made into something completely different and far more petty, but he obviously made up his entire 'hero story' on a whim, 'borrowing' the idea from Ryoko. He also says that if he had a girlfriend who asked him to change his hairstyle, he would beat her.
  • All Part of the Show: After using Crazy Diamond to knock out a few mind-controlled girls and free them from Pet Sounds's Stand, Josuke proclaims that it was the conclusion of a street performance by Hol Horse, which calms down both the girls and the confused civilians.
  • Alliterative Name: Hol Horse. This spin-off also introduces Koji Kiyohara and Kazuki Karaiya.
  • An Arm and a Leg: When trying to shoot Pet Sounds down, Hol Horse shears one of its wings off. It would be understandable to assume that the fall would kill Pet Sounds, but it returns at the end of Chapter 8 to help Karaiya silence Kiyohara.
  • Art Shift: The art style occasionally changes to that of the "Oingo Boingo Brothers Adventure" comic book when Thoth shows its predictions, such as when it shows Boingo and Hol Horse where they need to go.
  • Artifact Title: A weird example. The "Demonic" part in Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak is a Call-Back to Part 3's intro, where Jotaro still doesn't know what a Stand is and assumes Star Platinum's rampages to be a case of nefarious possession. However, while Josuke in this series is in the same state of not yet knowing what a Stand is, he makes no similar assumptions to his nephew, instead seeming to think of Crazy Diamond as simply some psychic power he always had.
  • Badass Longcoat: Hol Horse dresses in a duster on top of his original clothing, to further the wild west gunslinger aesthetic he carries around with him.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: Ryohei reveals at the start of Chapter 8 that Kiyohara kept a collection of videos featuring him shooting animals to death. The subway crisis was him "graduating".
  • Berserk Button:
    • In a reverse of Josuke's usual reaction to people mocking his hairdo, the boy gets a smack across the face for mocking Ryoko's, who like him styled it based on someone she admires (in her case, Kakyoin).
    • DIO was told by Telence T. D'Arby that his older brother, Daniel, used to be called "Danny" when he was young. When DIO meets Daniel and points this out, he claims to have the sudden urge to strangle him and burn him alive in a furnace, as it's a Call-Back to the first ever dog that DIO murdered. He's only calmed down when Daniel points out that his peers actually call him "D'Arby".
  • Big Bad: As revealed in Chapter 8, the police officer Kazuki Karaiya is revealed to be the main villain and The Man Behind the Man of this story, right after Kiyohara has been arrested. We soon learn that his grandfather, seemingly inspired by Kars, has turned Karaiya the way he is now and Karaiya is trying to be at the apex of the world for both of them.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy:
    • Invoked by Pet Sounds's Stand. It attacks people from afar by stuffing their bodies with punch cards, which then implant them with past memories and control them against their will. The victims are fully aware of what's happening, but they are powerless to stop themselves.
    • We also get to see DIO implanting a flesh bud into Kakyoin's brain, which had an immediate effect on him. In previous media, the scenes of implanted flesh buds have been off-screen.
  • Call-Back:
    • Many, to Stardust Crusaders:
      • When Hol Horse arrived at Morioh, he sees a man driven mad by what sounds like DIO's voice, driving his car onto the sidewalk and running over pedestrians — just like what DIO ordered Wilson Phillips to do; in fact, that memory seems to be exactly what is causing Inspector Hiraoka to drive.
      • In Chapter 3, Pet Sounds's Stand replays Hol Horse's memory of DIO chiding him for failing to kill the Joestars back in Egypt, and controls him to shoot Inspector Hiraoka on the back of his head just like how he tried to assassinate DIO years ago. Fortunately, Hol Horse is able to escape without any blood on his hands when he sees a gleam from a green traffic light, reminding him of Kakyoin's final Emerald Splash and breaking Pet Sounds's control by giving him a different memory to focus on.
      • During the climax of the final fight, Karaiya attempts to use Pet Sounds's memory of DIO's Stand barrage to paralyze Josuke long enough for him to get the final blow in.
    • One happens to Phantom Blood in Chapter 12. When first meeting D'Arby, DIO tells him the rumor he heard from Telence that he used to be called "Danny" as a kid, which annoys DIO due to reminding him of the first dog he ever murdered. This anecdote is used to intimidate D'Arby, which likewise paralyzes the victim of the memory with fear.
    • The Arc Villain may be indirectly inspired by Kars of Battle Tendency fame: Karaiya's grandfather is implied to be a Nazi who was sent on a mission in Switzerland. There, he'd witness "what it meant to transcend all of creation", heavily implying he saw Kars's transformation into the Ultimate Lifeform, and he intends for Karaiya to have that same ambition to stand above everyone else.
  • Call-Forward: Like his takedowns of Angelo and Terunosuke, Josuke employs a similar attack on the Arc Villain. He merges Karaiya's body with a construction site's tarp and an acetylene torch, turning him into a living hot air balloon.
  • Central Theme: Hope for the future versus dread of the past. Thoth makes an appearance in this part, giving its vague predictions of the future as it always has. Ryoko has to place her faith into them to find the answers she wants. The major enemy Stand user is Pet Sounds, who can bring back memories and force victims to feel whatever Pet Sounds is willed to make them feel. Ryoko is a high school graduate who is stuck with her memories of a dead family member, and Josuke is a high school freshman who's eager to see what he can do.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Karaiya appears at the beginning of Chapter 3 and gets his name dropped during his brief appearance. He is revealed to be the main villain all along at the end of Chapter 8.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Boingo pieces together that Pet Sounds's Stand ability is more effective when he's closer to his victims, as when he and Josuke are affected by Pet Sounds's Stand when the parrot is extremely close to them, the memory they experience of Egypt is completely lifelike due to the feel and scent, and when DIO in the memory orders Pet Shop to use Horus on his original owner, the icicle has an actual effect on Josuke, who's unable to hit the icicle back due to Crazy Diamond phasing through it.
  • Connected All Along: Morioh turns out to have been Kakyoin's hometown.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Hol Horse now wears three wristwatches on his left arm, as a reminder of the time he failed to assassinate Jotaro and was shot by his own bullets, because his watch was a few seconds too fast.
    • Mariah makes an ugly face when angry with Hol Horse like she did during her fight with Joseph and Avdol.
    • During the scene where Hol Horse encounters a berserk driver, he gets a flashback to the time he attempted to shoot DIO.
    • If anyone is controlled by Pet Sounds's Stand, their eyes will turn blank and gain a circular dimpled texture like punch cards, similar to the eyes of the Stand Moody Blues from Golden Wind. Much like Moody Blues, Pet Sounds's Stand's ability involves replaying past events.
    • During Josuke's introduction to Ryoko, Yuya Fungami is referenced by a car-driving delinquent, who seems suspiciously similar to him.
    • After Josuke's first encounter with Pet Sounds's ability, he and Hol Horse reconvene at a public fountain, which resembles the one Jotaro met Josuke at, complete with having a turtle there as well.
    • The Arc Villain's grandfather was apparently a vampire, bringing back that plot point from the first two arcs.
    • During the final chapters, when Ryoko is possessed by Pet Sounds, she apparently has an encounter with the past version of Kakyoin — specifically during the fight against Telence D'Arby, when he's turned into a doll.
    • The ace-high hand that D'Arby deals DIO is exactly the same as the one his attendant dealt Jotaro in Stardust Crusaders, down to each card's suit.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Chapter 11 reveals what DIO did to Pet Shop's original owner. He doused him with gasoline, had Pet Shop use Horus to freeze the gasoline on his body, lit the gasoline around him on fire with a match, and had Pet Shop repeatedly stab him with Horus's icicles until the fire eventually thawed him out and set him on fire. And all because DIO wanted to see how afraid he got before he died.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: In the final chapter, Josuke suggests that he could be Ryoko's boyfriend. She immediately shoots him down, pointing out how he's younger than her, doesn't live in the same place, and that he doesn't know how to properly talk to women.
  • Dirty Cop: Chapter 8 reveals that Karaiya is one of these, allowing criminals like Kiyohara to roam the streets so long as they're "useful".
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Hol Horse and Mariah are discussing their past under DIO and how his immense charisma let him manipulate them. Hol Horse says that, "The people who fall for a conman's tricks may be fools, but at the end of the day, they're victims all the same." The insinuation that she's a fool causes Mariah to explode with rage, using her Stand to turn Hol Horse magnetic and nearly killing him. Subverted when it turns out Mariah was just messing with Hol Horse, as revenge for him having taken advantage of Boingo in the past.
  • Exploding Closet: Justified; Hol Horse accidentally shoots open a closet full of swords, which start chasing him thanks to the magnetism induced on him by Mariah's Stand.
  • Extreme Doormat: Pet Sounds itself has no ambitions on its own and only acts when it is commanded to do so. For ten years, it didn't use its powers and therefore didn't make any chaos. However, once Pet Sounds got stolen, it serves its new tamer without question.
  • Extremely Short Timespan: Excluding the opening scenes in Egypt and any flashbacks, the story in Morioh takes place over a 24-hour time period.
  • Face Death with Dignity: In Chapter 16, after getting a quick glance at Thoth, Ryohei discovers that he's fated to die soon, which he takes in stride and decides to prepare for by contacting Joseph Joestar, resulting in Jotaro, in his stead, coming to Morioh.
  • Fingore: In Chapter 12, as DIO used The World to switch his and D'Arby's cards during their poker match, he took the time to cut slits down the middle of the tips of D'Arby's fingers.
  • First-Name Basis: Due to being relatives, Ryoko naturally refers to her cousin, Kakyoin, by his given name, Noriaki.
  • Five-Aces Cheater: When DIO first met him, D'Arby attempted to cheat by giving himself four Aces and a Joker while intentionally giving DIO a bad hand. Unfortunately for him, DIO used The World to switch their cards around, letting him see right through the cheat.
  • Flechette Storm: Mariah's Bastet makes Hol Horse magnetic, which causes darts and swords to fly at him.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: A lot of the injuries and damage are reverted back to their previous state thanks to Josuke's Crazy Diamond, thus avoiding and casualties within the civilian population.
  • Grave-Marking Scene: Halfway through the first chapter, a newly-introduced character, Ryoko, is seen tending to a grave in Morioh. That grave belongs to Noriaki Kakyoin.
  • Great Big Book of Everything: Chapter 16's narration describes Thoth as a continuous record of all of human history; that it happens to record things some time in advance before they happen is a convenient future-predicting side effect of what it's intended to do.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Multiple villains from Stardust Crusaders, including Mariah, Kenny G., and Boingo, regret working for DIO and now want to live normal lives.
  • Heroic Willpower: Hol Horse demonstrates a surprising amount of this over the story (given his long-standing reputation as an avaricious coward), which lets him survive Pet Sounds's attempts to control him. First, he avoids having to shoot Inspector Hiraoka by focusing on a different memory (in particular, a reflected green traffic light, reminding him of Kakyoin's final Emerald Splash against DIO), and escapes the helicopter gunship illusion by rationalizing to himself that the fear he's feeling is nothing compared to his failed attempt to kill DIO.
  • Ironic Echo: Josuke invokes this on the Arc Villain in Chapter 15: turning Karaiya into a human hot-air balloon, so he can quite literally "be high above everyone, just like he wanted".
  • It Can Think: Chapter 16 suggests that Thoth was acting of its own accord during the events of the story; it wanted to escape DIO's legacy, independently from Boingo.
  • It's All My Fault: Ryoko is revealed to blame herself for her cousin Noriaki Kakyoin falling under DIO's control. When they were in Egypt before the events of Stardust Crusaders, Ryoko got lost in Cairo and Kakyoin went to look for her. This left them alone with DIO that night, and Kakyoin's effort to protect his cousin led him to be infected by one of DIO's flesh buds. Ryoko believes that if she hadn't gotten lost that night, then her cousin would still be alive.
  • Kansas City Shuffle: After having to face a multitude of Morioh citizens under the influence of Pet Sounds's Stand, Hol Horse and Josuke make it for the subway station, thinking its spacing would be too cramped for Pet Sounds to sneakily fly through. As it turns out, though, this is the exact situation Pet Sounds wanted the two to be in, and uses its Stand to force everybody in the station to reenact the events of a military helicopter shooting in Egypt.
  • Logical Weakness:
    • Since Pet Sounds's Stand's Ability forces the victim's mind to relive a past event, a surefire way to break free from it is to render yourself unconscious; in Chapter 11, Josuke manages to break himself and Boingo free from Pet Sounds's influence by strangling their own necks with ropes.
    • Pet Sounds's ability is only as powerful as its voice mimicry. Therefore, Josuke defeats it by breaking its beak in such a way so that it cannot mimic voices accurately anymore.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Chapter 8 reveals that Karaiya was behind Kiyohara the whole time and he is the one who got his hands on Pet Sounds.
  • Mind Rape: It's retroactively shown that most of DIO's minions that weren't given flesh buds or weren't already evil were subjected to emotional manipulation and gaslighting that ultimately made them unwittingly pledge loyalty to DIO. Hol Horse and Mariah are shown to still be suffering the effects of it even 10 years following DIO's death.
  • Ms. Fanservice: As in Stardust Crusaders, Mariah wears a revealing outfit. Multiple panels focus on her body.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The narration in the first chapter mentions pursuing a calamity, referencing the Wonder of U storyline in JoJolion.
    • The missing parrot, named Pet Sounds, which was previously owned by Pet Shop's previous owner, is likely a reference to the parrot seen with DIO early in the Stardust Crusaders manga, which never showed up again and was fully replaced with Pet Shop in the anime.
    • At the end of Chapter 5, when Ryoko consults Thoth, it tells her not to confront Hol Horse about DIO directly and that, "the detour will get you there the quickest," a reference to Gyro's fifth and final lesson, "The shortest route was the detour."
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Chapter 12 offers a look into how DIO recruited Daniel J. D'Arby. Telence had already pledged his loyalty to DIO on his own accord, leading to DIO seeking out his older brother. After using The World to switch around D'Arby's hand, DIO repeats the process, which causes D'Arby to panic and realize that there's no winning against DIO. He's then told by DIO that under his rule, D'Arby must win every game he takes part in, or else he'll be killed.
  • Older Than They Look: Boingo looks almost no different from how he looked 10 years ago, still being short and wearing similar clothes. The only physical indication that he's aged is the tiny stubble under his chin.
  • Original Generation: While this spin-off has characters from multiple parts (mostly Part 3 and Part 4), it also introduces a few new characters: Ryoko Kakyoin, Pet Sounds, Kazuki Karaiya and his grandfather, and Koji Kiyohara.
  • The Paranoiac: Because he suffered a humiliating defeat due to an incorrectly-adjusted wristwatch during Stardust Crusaders, Hol Horse now wears three watches to keep track of time, fussing about it to himself when one of them is out of sync.
  • Posthumous Character: The two most prominent ones are DIO and Kakyoin, who both affect the current set of characters heavily. The memories of DIO still haunt his former minions, while Ryoko is desperately driven to find the truth behind Kakyoin's death. The original tamer of Pet Sounds and Pet Shop has also been killed by DIO in the past, which is why the remaining bird, Pet Sounds, is so important to his mother.
  • Prophecy Twist: Chapter 9 shows Thoth predicting an image of Ryoko picking up a gun and a bullet hole opening in Hol Horse's head. In Chapters 14-15, Ryoko holds Hol Horse at gunpoint, but doesn't actually shoot him; the bullet hole in his head is his self-inflicted wound from when he shot himself with Emperor during the Hol Horse and Boingo arc, which had reopened.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Pet Sounds hasn't used its abilities for 10 years, but it is doing anything its current tamer is commanding it to do, regardless of the actions' morality. This is because Karaiya made Pet Sounds consume a bit of his ear's flesh, in the process allowing Karaiya to use the Stand himself.
  • Saved by Canon: When it comes to human casualties, pretty much everyone other than the bad guys are safe, not only because of Crazy Diamond's healing powers, but also because Josuke hasn't discovered yet that bringing people back from the dead is impossible. This means any attempt at bringing someone back will be successful, and indirectly, that nobody he'd want to heal will die.
  • School Uniforms are the New Black: The spin-off takes place in March, which is during the break between the third trimester and first trimester. Despite this, Ryoko and Josuke are wearing their school uniforms despite the fact that a) Ryoko has already graduated from high school, and b) Josuke has not officially entered his new high school yet. Ryoko is still wearing her uniform because she's clinging to the past, while Josuke is wearing his uniform because he's looking forward to for the next part of his life.
  • Security Blanket: Thoth is this for Boingo. He's owned the book for practically his whole life and the book is a Clingy MacGuffin, so when one of Thoth's predictions calls for Boingo to just throw it away, he obeys, knowing that following the predictions brings good fortune — and then immediately falls into a dejected state when the book fails to reappear near him. When he first appears in Morioh without it, he's curled up in the fetal position under a policeman's desk.
  • Series Continuity Error: In Chapter 15, while the women that Hol Horse saved from DIO's mansion are potentially implied to be the mothers of Giorno, Ungalo, Rikiel, and Donatello, something that goes against that is how Giorno had already been born in 1985. The rest of DIO's sons except Ungalo have birth years before 1988 (Stardust Crusaders' events), with Ungalo being born in 1988.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: It's shown that even 10 years later, Hol Horse and Mariah still feel the mental scars of their time as DIO's servants. Mariah regularly has dreams about DIO where she grovels and apologizes to him, while Hol Horse has a Freak Out when he thinks he heard DIO's voice. Boingo's no picnic, either — Thoth shows that he still has massive insecurities about being under DIO's control, and one page says being apart from the book is a step closer to being free from DIO's influence.
  • Shoot Out the Lock: Done accidentally by Hol Horse — he attempts to shoot away the darts flying at him, but he didn't see where he was shooting and the bullets end up breaking the lock to a closet full of swords, which then start to fly at him as well.
  • Shoot the Dog: When Hol Horse is faced with the conundrum of continuing his mission versus stopping Pet Sounds from causing more casualties, he chooses to shoot down Pet Sounds to prevent further catastrophe. Although we later see that Pet Sounds is still alive.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Hol Horse references the Japanese drama series Oshin.
    • Ryoko asks Josuke if his hair is inspired by a replicant from Blade Runner.
    • The parrot Pet Sounds is named after The Beach Boys album Pet Sounds.
  • Stab the Scorpion: After Hol Horse points out that Josuke has a "fancy haircut", Josuke asks, "What the hell was that?!", and seemingly goes in for the strike on Hol Horse. In reality, he ends up punching the person in the car, because he nearly ran over Hol Horse.
  • Spanner in the Works: Chapter 15 implies that Hol Horse of all people is this, as the main reason Giorno and the Sons of DIO from Stone Ocean exist in the first place. When he got sent to kill the Joestar Group, he came across a place in DIO's mansion where all the women used by DIO end up in after he's done draining their blood. After seeing some of them are actually still alive, Hol Horse leads them out, puts them in a taxi and pays the cabbie to drive them as far away as possible. Thereby, he saves the women that would give birth to Giorno, Ungalo, Rikiel, and Donatello, and unknowingly started into motion Diavolo's death, and later, Pucci's near-victory.
  • Time Master: Time manipulation isn't a power used by the Arc Villain, but he attempts to gain some level of influence similar to it. Karaiya does get his hands on Pet Sounds and later Thoth, which have "the power of the past and the future", respectively. Pet Sounds's Stand has the ability to make people reenact and experience past events, even if it's not their own past. Thoth is a manga/comic that can predict the near future.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Mariah, a woman very easy on the eyes with pronounced legs, ended up getting together with Kenny G., who is a short, imp-like man.
  • Villainous Lineage: In Chapter 9, Karaiya is revealed to be taking after his grandfather in terms of being evil. His grandfather was a vampire, and revered Kars as a god, seeing his transformation into the Ultimate Life Form firsthand in Switzerland back when he was a human soldier in World War II.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: After Josuke heals the possessed man who swerved his car at him and Hol Horse, the man suddenly vomits out what appears to be a deck of punch cards, which vaporizes almost immediately. This would later happen to other characters affected by Pet Sounds's Stand.
  • Walking Spoiler: The Arc Villain and second human opponent encountered, Kazuki Karaiya. Anything from his second appearance in the story and beyond is classified as a spoiler, due The Reveal of him being the Big Bad. The only thing about him that doesn't count as a spoiler is his first appearance.
  • Wet Cement Gag: Invoked by Josuke, who prevents Hol Horse from running away from him by using Crazy Diamond's power to turn the asphalt road Hol Horse is running on back into its liquid state.
  • Wham Line: As Ryoko walks away from the grave and reveals just who she is mourning:
Ryoko: You were my cousin, so why won't you tell me? Noriaki...?
  • Would Hit a Girl: Subverted. Josuke has no problem punching girls with Crazy Diamond, but they get healed immediately after getting the crap beaten out of them.
  • Wrong Context Magic: While Thoth was considered Boingo's Stand in the main arc, it's revealed here that Boingo doesn't believe that to be the case, instead believing Thoth to be an actual comic book sent down to him by the Egyptian deity himself.
  • You Can't Fight Fate: Chapter 10 reveals that whenever a target is locked into one of Pet Sounds's memories, they're unable to do anything to stop it, and must experience every event, including attacks. Josuke learns this the hard way, as when he tries to stop an icicle being fired at him due to DIO commanding Pet Shop to use Horus, Crazy Diamond's arm phases right through the icicle, and he ends up being pierced by it. The only way to break out of a memory is by remembering one which brings out an even stronger emotional response, or suffering physical damage in the real world that would cause you to black out for a moment.
