Aight, so for about the past half a year, I got to watch a whole lot of anime.

Ones I Watched Past Few Months

And today, I finished Attack on Titan Final and Azumanga Daioh at the same time...and they kinda gave me something of an emotional and psychological closure.

So for the time being, I think I'm gonna stop watching anime. I know myself well enough that I will never, ever quit manga/anime for real, of course, so once I get this craving again in about few months, I will most likely start another massive binge session. [lol]

Well the advantage with your approach is you get to pick the shows that best suit your palate. Cheers for watching so many good anime! See you in a few months.

Saw Blue Giant today. Surprisingly good given I don't really care for jazz, but god is it ridiculously cheesy. Both in the "series portraying something random as awesome", and also the performance visuals. [lol]

Not something I'm going to go find the manga for, though. Not really my usual genre, and the lack of music would suuuuuck.

The lack of actual music really handicaps that kind of manga, really.

Wake me up at your own risk.

"Here is a story about someone's journey to becoming an amazing musician" without any music and having to use visuals to convey everything far more than words is a bit of a tricky situation.

Still, it had to be doing well to get a film.

[up] IDOL × IDOL STORY! has that same "problem". It's an idol series, in a medium in which you can neither hear the music nor see the dancing, so it has to liberally abuse Combat Commentator to describe the most basic things about the performances.

And yet ...

This is by the same guy who created the Ganbaruzoi! meme. You're not here for the music or dancing. You're here to see cute anime girls cry, and then clench their fists and declare they'll never give up. So it acquits itself admirably on those grounds.

Finished watching the other day Netflix's CG anime based on Onimusha and I'm surprised that absolutely nobody is talking about it. Yes, I know that Onimusha is one of the lesser-known Capcom IP and hasn't seen a new game in who knows how many years, but still it baffles me that it has several big names behind it yet it seems to not have been promoted at all. Takashi Miike collaborated to some extent, protagonist is voiced by Akio Otsuka and modeled upon legendary actor Toshiro Mifune, and they even used a Maneskin song for the soundtrack.

I read several bad reviews but to be fair I didn't find it as terrible as they made it to be: the CG is solid and combined with some beautiful 2D backgrounds, the fight choreographies are nice, the plot is serviceable, the characters aren't really developed but then again it's only 8 episodes of 20 minutes each. Basically it's a late 90s/early 2000s ninja anime made with modern techniques and sensibilities. They complain that the main character is flat but, being the literal Musashi Miyamoto, he's more of a swordsman archetype than anything. Basically I think that if one liked Ninja Scroll and the like, one would also enjoy this one.

"Effective Altruism" is just another bunch of horsesh*t.

I guess you should start a thread if you want to discuss it. As for myself I don't think I will watch this series.

Has anyone checked the manga adaptation of The Beast Player by Nahoko Uehashi and Itoe Takemoto on the K MANGA app?

[up] It isn't just terrible, it isn't even available in my region. I would really like to know to see how well its performing, in comparison to Manga+, since the latter is so good in comparison.

I feel really sad about the current conditions in the anime industry :( I hope something can change for the better! I found out about general stuff from this post about Jujutsu Kaisen's anime adaptation, which has had tons of behind-the-scenes stuff going on.

So I've been brushing up on the Mazinger Z series.

I watched Infinity a few years ago, and now I'm interested in reading the Shin Mazinger Zero series (which apparently gets super dark).

As I understand it, both have Time Travel, reality warping and The Multi Verse involved.

I'll have to re-watch infinity to jog my memory on how that works, but I still want to read Shin Zero if I can find it.

Go. Go. Duke Fleed.

Fly. Fly. Grendizer.[tup]

It's a good time for some old school Super Robot action.

Surprised Mazinger is appearing as well. Isn't it totally outmatched compared to Grendizer? Not that something like that would stop Kouji, but still.

The longer Lupin III: Part II goes on the dumber the episodes get. It's all dumb science fiction plot devices and jewelry stealing.

double post buuut

I appreciate warnings like this!

I'm aware this now a very common thing now but this was the first time I've actually seen it,reading manga the wrong way is apparently a widespread issue

Oh and case you're wondering its because I've started reading Claymore.

Wait, this IS a general anime & manga thread? I always just assumed there was some series called Chatterbox. I've asked about a general thread multiple times in multiple places, how did no one ever tell me? [lol]

I'm joking, that's on me.
