During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Sorry for your loss beast.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Sorry Beast
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsI wish to add a link to Zombie Holocaust on the Film S To Z page.
And requested. FYI, in the future, for simple stuff like that, you can request it at https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=gsjp7dldjh2dwdelcha2hu17.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsSo, what happened with Mega Man image and new quote for a page?
to Powell. Condolences, Beast.
I'm terribly sorry for your lost Beast.
So am I.
I missed this, but sorry for your loss Beast.
Pure: Please add Brad to the Drafts.
As for the General...hmm, if he does anything in the others, perhaps his entry should be expanded (and go under Mihmiverse).
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsAlright, I'm back, so I'll throw in a late "happy holidays" to everyone, condolences for Beast's loss, and catch up on whoever I missed:
to Victor Barlow, The Entity, Bathory, Ray, Dr. Moreau, Owen McGregor, King Herod, Alimov, Booger, Ruthven, Nathan Grant, Padgett, Destro, Y'golonac, Ibrahim, and Chris Powell.
to Max, Jurgen, and Spears.
Cut the Enchantress and Von Krolock.
Please let me know if I missed anyone.
@Grain and @ACW: I don't think that House of Ghosts entry is even approved.
I think Beast got the Hunter approved a while ago, so you should probably add him to the Pending Writeups.

I searched and did not see this character listed, so I would like to propose Ruuvitar from The Elder Scrolls Online.
Ruuvitar is the Arc Villain of Shadowfen, whose plan is to use an ancient relic to genocide the Argonians by destroying their ability to reproduce. In fact, his plan is already in progress when the player character encounters him, and you will discover that he has already caused mass death among baby hatchlings. While warfare and racial hatred are not unusual in the Elder Scrolls universe, such coldblooded extermination of an entire race and the Would Hurt a Child aspect make Ruuvitar's plot exceptionally horrific. Ruuvitar's own forces express reluctance at such extreme evil, with at least one soldier outright defecting from his ranks to assist the player character in stopping him. Ruuvitar has no sympathetic backstory or mitigating circumstances, and as his actions run counter to the philosphy espoused by his own monarch, it is highly unlikely that he was Just Following Orders.
Also before I forget, having just talked NK over with Lighty and Scraggle and gone over the villains' acts, I think we could live without Hargrove, the Pijavica and Krolock.
Okay, my personal opinions on those 3, going by their entries:
- Pijavica: She molested her own son...then again, Helen did worse. I hate to do this, since she seems AWFUL, but yeah, I think she could probably go.
- Krolock: Judging by the EP on Ruthven, maybe...though he seems pretty bad. I could go either way on this.
- Hargrove: THIS one I feel pretty strongly should stay. Yeah, he may eventually get outdone by his son, but even still, wasn't he the mastermind behind his son's snuff film ring? Pijavica's bad, but her crimes aren't that unique anymore. Ditto Krolock more or less. Hargrove's crimes, AFAIK, are unique enough that I feel like he could stay. I'm willing to listen to arguments though.
EDIT: Yeah Hargrove was quite involved.
And yeah, as I said, Helen murderrapetortured her kids, so yeah, Pijavica can go, Hargrove could stay, either way for Krolock.

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsI thought we already voted to cut Pijavica months ago. If not I vote cut now. I could go either way on the other two.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadIs anything Hargrove can do enough to stand out at his tier though? We axed Cuu despite being a guy with a flashlight because at that level there's nothing you can do to distinguish yourself the world of mass murderers that is 40k. He's awful yes and I think in almost anything else we could make this but I don't think he ultimately comes across as more than "nasty Hate Sink" thanks to the world of rapists with four-digit victims, world-ending sadists and sickening experimenters. If we keep for now that's fine but I'll be doing some re-reading to refresh and make a more formal case.
Echoing ACW on Hargrove. I'm leaning cut on the Pijavica.
I mean, Cuu had, what, a rape and murder or 2? Plus, 40k has a MUCH higher heinous standard than Neverkind. I mean, I could be wrong, but the Snuff Film ring seems unique, at least to me.
Then again, looking at the current keepers:
- Nyarly and Lucia are...well, Nyarly and Lucia.
- Rich kills thousands when resurrected.
- Sieg and Sieg have thousands? killed (I think).
- Baal's almost as bad as Nyarly.
- Morviak's killed countless.
- Y'gy's unique.
- Yamada has a massive body count.
- Helen's unique, and plans to expand her niche worldwide.
- Vladik's similar.
- Eliphas aims to kill thousands.
Dang...so all of the keepers (plus the new dude Scraggle got approved) have, what, a body count of thousands each at least? Dang...now I'm starting to doubt Hargrove, yes strangely starting to lean MORE towards keep for Krolock.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsAre we sure on cutting krolok (My phone keeps turning it into krokorok for some reason). Doesn't he cause the extinction of several races going off his entry. Seems bad enough to keep.
Cotrerction since I did his ep. Eliphas has killed thousands. His plan would wipe out several worlds in the terraverse. It's not what he's aiming for but he doesn't really give a shit about the collateral.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Point stands. He (I'm guessing) knows about it and just doesn't give a fuck.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsI'd second Miraculous point, Ruthven might take his barbaric experiments several steps further, but it still sounds like Krolock stands out enough. Even inspite of the growing body counts of all Neverkind's keepers, flat out causing multiple cases of extinction still sounds impressive.
I have to ask, are their any more votes for Chris Powell?
Edited by MGD107 on Dec 28th 2019 at 6:13:13 AM
The more we talk about it the firmer my stance on Hargrove and the Pijavica get, as even those supportive seem to lose faith in them as the words of comparison get typed out. Korlock I could live with but again, it's one I'd be doing so re-reading on since I think at this point we need to be getting pretty thorough about who really stands.
No to Chris.

to Destro and the Defiler. to Powell.
Sorry for the wait, but here is my writeup for Brad.
Cut: Once an actor in the slasher movie Hot Blooded! , Brad became enraged when he was fired from his role as the movies villain, Scarman. He kills the director by cutting out her tongue, and almost kills his co-star Vanessa before she kills him. After his death, he becomes Scarman and curses the film, killing anyone who views or tries to finish Hot Blooded! , including a student director who viewed the work print, and electrocuting the films producer when he tried to finish the film. When a group of student filmmakers try to complete Hot Blooded! , he starts killing everyone involved with the production, from the directors to the projectionist who screened them the workprint. When unmasked, he mocks those who he is trying to kill, and wastes no time killing two police officers who encounter him. Seemingly destroyed, he survives in another print of the film, ready to kill a theater full of people at the end of the movie.
Also, I have noticed a bit of an issue regarding the CM of General Castle from the Mihmiverse. He has a writeup for his actions in House of Ghosts, but Castle also appears in The Giant Spider and Demon with the Atomic Brain. I haven’t seen any of these movies, but I feel like it would be worthwhile to comb through his appearances in those movies for any mitigating qualities/bad acts.
Sorry for your loss, Bullman.
