So, I actually went and looked at La Belle myself… and sadly, I think we need to cut Sergio.

His Freudian Excuse is not mitigating, true- it's tacked on, only briefly mentioned at the end and not delved into. However, he does have a clear disqualifier- he genuinely cares for Isolde and is distraught when she dies. To be more specific, it turns out that she had sacrificed herself by volunteering to insert herself in a trap he made to kill someone else, and when he, disguised as Albrecht, discovers this, is saddened. Here is the specific passage:

So he set the trap, but intended to kill someone else, not Isolde, and is genuinely in pain when he learns of his mistake.

Here is the EP- notably, the troper never mentions this scene at all. Also, the proposer in question is the one who proposed Ellen and fought to keep her for years while ignoring her clearly mitigating qualities (granted, so did I for a while- mistake on my part), and also thought Mutaclone has redeeming qualities when it was later determined he did not, so this would not be the first time they did this.

Bottom line, unless I missed something (and I double-checked the relevant chapters), he needs to go.

Also, the entry for Princess Ezel is way too long for a game that is only an hour long at most. It’s actually my own extension, made during a time when I though every villain needed a super-long entry. So I’m gonna trim it back down.

Current:

• Princess Ezel was seen by her subjects as a kind, innocent girl who was unjustly murdered by her power-hungry brother, Prince Vido. In truth, Ezel is the one who kicked off the apocalypse that drives the plot. In the backstory, Ezel began cannibalizing other demons to consume their souls and steal their power. Ezel, unsatisfied with ruling the titular world of KAIMA, repeated this process many times and consumed numerous souls, endangering KAIMA in the process, in an attempt to gain enough power to leave KAIMA and move on to other planets. Stopped by her brother, Vido, and sealed away, Ezel manipulates Illy, who loves her and mourns her supposed death, into fighting Vido. Once Ezel is freed by Searina and Illy, she eats Vido alive before deciding to leave everyone else left on KAIMA to die when the planet falls apart, offering to take Illy with her if she kills Searina, though it's revealed she would have betrayed and killed Illy at some point anyway. A greedy, murderous monarch who hides behind the facade of a pure-hearted princess, Ezel far outclasses her well-intentioned brother in villainy.

Trim:

• The seemingly-kind Princess Ezel, murdered by her brother Prince Vido, was actually a power-hungry tyrant who devoured other demons and their souls for power. Wanting to extend her rule beyond KAIMA, Ezel devoured many souls to gain the power to leave the planet and tried to destroy it before Vido stopped her and sealed her away. Potentially released by Searina and Illi, the latter of whom was her lover, Ezel eats Vido and either makes Illi her servant or orders her to kill Searina, taking Searina as a servant instead should she kill Illi, or attempting to kill them both if they refuse to harm each other.

Okay wait a sec, I decided to take a look at the chapter for the fanfic and I found this line that was said after the one you brought up N.

"Of course, I had not expected Master Hand's poor cooperation, so I killed him. That is the only reason I spared Popo; Master Hand's soul proved to be strong enough to substitute for that pesky ice climber. If Bowser had taken my gamble, I would have killed Isolde to seal the deal, but the brave buffoon took the chance. But I have you now..."

Um, this is odd like this might subvert his redeeming quality with it directly contradicting the idea he feels remorse about killing her when he falt about admits to being perfectly willing to sacrifice her. I am now not as sure, though I am leaning keep, this is some really weird writing.

Hi, so I've already discussed this in PMs with Foren and bringing up a cut for Arrowverse. The one in question is Konstantin Kovar. Here's his entry:

• General Konstantin Kovar is a member of the Russian government who rules over the village of Krasnoyarsk, and leader of a criminal organization. Planning to rule over the country, he attempts to stage a coup by gassing the Russia's entire political and military leaderships to death. As Oliver Queen foiled his attempt and nearly killed him, Kovar returns to take vengeance on him. After capturing Oliver, he tortures him by injecting him a drug that causes him to relieve all of the physical, psychological and emotional pain he lived in the past five years. Kovar then offers him a gun, expecting him to be Driven to Suicide. When Oliver escapes his cell instead, Kovar tries to kill him. Ultimately defeated, he gloats that the island will forever remain his prison. Kovar's sophisticated and polite façade only serves to hide the ruthless, power-hungry and sadistic monster he truly is.

Now I think this guy has serious problems breaching the heinous standard. He's a flashback Big Bad with a killcount/attempted killcount which is not that notable: he wanted to take out the Russian government with a gas attack which I doubt would pass a hundred or so victims. As a Russian General, this guy has one of the highest resources among the Arrow baddies, but he's especially lacking compared to the majority of the Arrow Big Bads who have all attempted to destroy or kill everyone in Star City.

The only thing that really stands out about him is he Mind Raped Oliver, but even that on its own I don't think is enough to get him to count. We've had quite a few villains doing mind rape now including the Vertigos, Chase (kinda), Diaz, along with ones from other shows like Mallus, Neron, and Psych (who was able to be redeemed). One single mind rape on its own is not going to be bad enough.

You guys might remember Ricardo Diaz got brought up here, but he was downvoted for not being heinous enough. Well Diaz has a near identical rapsheet to Kovar, but with more meat to his crimes (Vertigo mind rape, cold blooded torture of several characters, attempted mass murder, Sadistic Choice psychological torment) and he still didn't pass. Kovar on the other hand feels like a watered-down version of Diaz.

Kovar may have counted early on, but I think he's up against waaay too much competition to be notable nowadays.

I'm sorry to hear that Lighty. I know we don't always see eye to eye, bit you have my complete sympathy.

Anyway so I was looking at some of these characters Ordeaux listed and honestly? I didn't effortpost that many of them looking back. Here's the ones I did. "the phantom, Sora Takeuchi, Zant, Mumkhar/"Metal Face", Dickson, Larkecius, Heishin, Heinrich von Raitenau, Kouran Mouri, and Kaima." Lighty did Naraku ages ago for example and I do remember someone else doing Hades from Kid Icarus, I simply suggested him (if we're simply going off characters I suggested, we have a longer list) and Zant was re-evaluated and deemed a keep so he doesn't count. Brokenstar and Scourge? Honestly I'm so sick of Warrior Cats now, I'd be happy to see them both gone. But I feel they are technical keeps and you don't have to necessarily like the work you do. Besides, someone else did them who was also a fan and deemed them keepers.

Everyone else? I leave them to your discretion. Dickson and Takeuchi ARE cuts though for sure. They are Graceful Losers which when they were proposed back in 2013 I didn't know was disqualifying. I cannot apologize enough for my shady behaviour.

As for Alba, I can't say if this is disqualifying or not, but I'm pretty sure it is, if you press him at one point he mentions how he sympathizes with Wendy Oldbag having a bad back in a bit of villain respect. And it's not entirely disproven that he lied either since the guy had to hunch over to keep up his frail old man look. As stated before, Villains cannot Pet the Dog if this counts.

Yeah I too think Kovar can be safely cut. He qualified just barely back in 2017, but since then he has received tons of competition and just doesn't compare anymore.

And yeah uh cut Kovar. Dude is blown away. Shrieve alone is a 100 times worse in both grand scale and personal villany compared to him and they both have the military general thing
