The Trailing punctuation in trope custom titles thread, as well as many, many discussions over the past ten and a half years, have made it obvious that we need a centralized discussion thread for page titles. I intend for this thread to be a place to both discuss titles and request they be changed.
(If you're looking to capitalize an existing wikiword, there's a different thread for that.)
It was an idea I had to resolve an issue in the disambiguation thread. There's a Russian TV series currently at Trace (the literal translation of its title, it's not available in English), which is having subpage collision issues with an unrelated Korean webcomic. Sled is the Romanization of the series' Russian-language title, so I was thinking we could redirect it there and use the custom title to put it back into Cyrillic.
Ah, okay. So it's not like, sled the vehicle.
Exactly. "sled" is what the Russian word sounds like in English. The actual word for "sled" in Russian is сани (pron. sani).
Can I tell them that's an acceptable workaround?
I'd accept this particular case only if we clearly treat it as an exception from the normal policy. Maybe we can list ★ et al as other "exceptions" in the same vein.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.If "Sled" is the romanization of the Russian title, then I think just Series.Sled is fine, no custom title needed. We already have lots of pages that use romanized titles, e.g. for anime & manga.
The trouble is that "Sled" is an English word with a completely different meaning, and there may be an official English reading of the title in Trace.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Yes, but any such reading would be strictly unofficial since it isn't available in English. Other wikis are inconsistent on this: IMDB calls it Sled, Wikipedia calls it Trace.
Another option that was suggested would be to do like Bron|Broen and make it Trace Sled, which we could still custom-title the second half into Cyrillic. (Although due to localization rules, Bron|Broen probably needs to be moved to The Bridge (2011).)

Rejected a custom title request for Recap.Human Resources S 02 E 10 Yipee Ki Hate Motherfker from ~mightymewtron because it would have hidden parts of the page's title (in this case, everything before "Yipee"). Please submit a custom title that only changes the formatting instead of hiding text.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Oh that was a mistake on my part, forgetting to include the show title because I only was fixing the episode title being messed up. I'll resubmit it properly now, sorry!

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. All right, I accepted the fixed request. Thank you.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.~ZimFan89 - your request to custom title A Man Of Iron Essos as A Man of Iron, Wider Essos has been declined, as it would be renaming the article. If you want A Man Of Iron Essos to be renamed, see How to Move a Page.
A couple pending requests that look like they could use some discussion:
From ~Nyame - MoralOfTheStory to
moral of the storyfor the page Fanfic.Moral Of The Story. However, Moral of the Story is also a redirect to An Aesop. Should this be considered a custom title collision, and therefore the fanfic page in need of moving?
From ~Yugnat - FilmS to
Films
There's custom title collision between between Fr.Films and subpages for films starting with S (BetterThanItSounds.Film S, Monster.Film S, RoleAssociation.Film S).
(Other pages under the title Films, e.g. BelligerentSexualTension.Films, are redirects, so shouldn't be a problem.)
~Twiddler I'm perfectly fine with Moral of the Story being moved if necessary. Just please inform me of the new name of the page so I can continue editing/tracking that one.
~Nyame - Okay, I've moved the page to moral of the story (Nyame) (with Fanfic.Moral Of The Story becoming a redirect) and applied the appropriate custom title to the new page.

~Twiddler Thank you!
Just in case, I've already noticed Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon is at wrong title, so I'll repply title after moving it.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI declined the request from ~Colonel-Knight-Rider to custom title Meet the Parents as "MeetTheParents1992" partially because using custom titles to rename pages isn't allowed, partially because the custom title shouldn't be CamelCase since the work's title isn't, and partially because disambiguating by year is done by moving the page and not by using custom titles. See How to Move a Page.
That said, I'm not seeing any need to move the page to begin with because there are no other work pages with the name "Meet the Parents"; the only other pages are subpages of the film's page.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. There's a title clash in Film.Navy Seals and UsefulNotes.Navy SEA Ls. The UN uses the current wiki word.
I have suggested moving the film to the user who sent a custom request to fix it for the Film page.
Edit: Issue resolved.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Report@GastonRabbit Excuse me, but I don't understand what you're talking about. I didn't want to retitle the page. I wanted to create a new one.

Somebody changed Nineteen Eighty-Four back to numeric despite a previous ruling.
I've submitted a request to change it back.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.~merotoker - your request to custom title Conception2ChildrenOfTheSevenStars to Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars has been declined, as it would be using the custom title to change the name of the article. If you want VideoGame.Conception 2 Children Of The Seven Stars to be moved to VideoGame.Conception II Children Of The Seven Stars, see How to Move a Page.
~Tropers/Observerfromafar
I have declined the following custom title requests for the following because we can't rename articles via custom title. If these pages need to be moved to the correct title, then that's what needs to be done instead. You can read How to Move a Page if you are unfamiliar with the process.
- Recap.Animator Vs Animation Animator Vs Animation I to Animator vs. Animation
- Recap.Animator Vs Animation Animator Vs Animation II to Animator vs. Animation II
- Recap.Animator Vs Animation Animator Vs Animation III
What's going on with Anime.Negima Second Season?
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.
Re: След
Custom title works. (In practice, that's renaming, so I hope the intention isn't to make a work page that replaces the characters like this)
