Agreed to making the original name a disambiguation!
My Games & WritingDeader than Dead would probably be a good inclusion too.
I agree with diambiguating Final Death after moving the trope to Permadeath.

(I only voted for the name change earlier.)

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportSure, let's disambiguate it.
Seems like we have enough support for disambig, but let's see a few more days.

And the disambiguation is done. 1069 wicks need to be disambiguated.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessFigured I'd bring this up, but we have a Final Death Mode that exists, describing a game mode you can select that prevents continuing and generally has protections against Save Scumming. Would it make sense to rename that to Permadeath Mode to match, or is the word 'mode' sufficient enough to make it seem limited to video games?
Either way, it can be listed on the disambig page.
If Final Death Mode has issues, it needs a thread of its own.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI've always heard that referred to as Ironman Mode or similar. It's more focused on single-player contexts, where you really are only competing against your own achievements. Permadeath, on the other hand, is more broadly applicable. It makes sense in multiplayer contexts, as a contrast to the many games that allow a shortcut to getting (most) of a character back after death.

I noticed Final Death Mode too. There's some duplication of examples between the two tropes; the supposed "optional vs mandatory" distinction hasn't been used to exclude examples from Permadeath. I wondered after discovering it if a wick I changed would have been better with it instead.
We could add Final Death Mode to the disambiguation page, but if it has problems of its own, it should get its own thread, probably with a wick check to show any overlap between it and this trope.
